uj_sizzle: Isn't it too soon to think about breaking up? This is just one incident out of months of faithfulness plus you don't really know she's cheating.

Do you think u're begining to bore her? Why don't you try up your game, get her attention back to you!

Absolutely not! She enjoys my company very much

Why do i have the feeling you've bn looking for a reason to break up with her, and suddenly you decide to choose something as flimsy as this.

I don't know why you have that feeling but you're very wrong

My advice will be that you watch her closely if you suspect foul play (which i think is non existent).

I'm still watching her but trust issue is almost dead

PS. Her reasons are pretty valid.
Stop looking for faults that aren't there and enjoy your girl.

Her reasons are very lame!

You dont have the proove she is cheating on you,but you sure know she has not been truthful with you,she cant be trusted,so a break up wont be a bad idea.
Break up with her for doing what? Not picking my calls or doing something behind my back which I don't know of?

RomanceIs She Cheating? by Abujafood(op):
For the first time ever, I'm beginning to doubt if my girl really loves me. Yesterday I tried calling her many times, she wouldn't pick and the calls spanned a 5 hour period when she was supposed to be in school.

I called her brother around 10pm last night and he told me she was yet to return. That worried me alot because I thought something bad may have happened. Then around mid night I called her again this time she picked but told me she was just getting back from school. I asked her why she wasn't picking and her reply was "I didn't know my phone was ringing" when I confronted her on how meaningless that sounds, she changed her story to she actually left her phone with someone to charge it for her.

Meanwhile we've just reconciled after a quarrel - which is becoming more frequent! What do you guys make of these? I'm already thinking of breaking up with her but I have no proof of wrong doing!

^^^^

You may have a point but how do you explain flagrant violation of traffic laws e.g driving against the flow of traffic or beyond speed limits? What about hooliganism from Okada riders.

Besides the ban is not total, it's just a partial ban (from 452 roads out of 9,000 roads in the state)

The use of motorcycle taxis popularly called Okada dates back to the early 1990s when people suddenly realized the immense benefits of being able to beat traffic gridlock and arrive at their destinations on time. This new found way of life was especially popular in Lagos where traffic jams are simply a way of life in the so called center of excellence with Lagosians planning their days around traffic jam prone areas. Prior to 2012, some states have already taken action like Rivers, Ebonyi, Plateau, FCT and Cross River banning Okada from plying major roads within their respective state capitals. However, even in those states Okada seems to thrive in the outskirts and fringe communities despite the ban.The days when Okada rules the road seem numbered now that the Lagos State Government has decided to ban their operation on major highways within Lagos Metropolis.

One of the good things about Okada is that it's a useful companion for many people especially folks going late to work. On a good day if you leave home from let’s say Agege heading towards VI in Lagos by 6am, chances are that you won’t arrive your destination till 8 am or thereabout due to traffic jams. But with the Okada, same distance covered could cost you just under 30 minutes because of their manoeurability within rows of slow moving vehicles on the narrow Lagos roads.

There are other obvious benefits of using bikes as taxis like being a more affordable alternative to the popular green and white Taxis which have been around for a while. An Okada can work at odd hours and find their way through the toughest of roads and so offer a lot of convenience to commuters especially people who live on the outskirts and work late into the night.

However, Okada's are also a big nuisance to motorists and other road users. For instance, there are more deaths from Okada accidents than other regular road accidents. According to the Lagos State Ministry of transportation, there were over 110 deaths in 2011 from Okada accidents which was the highest single cause of deaths on major highways in Lagos. This high statistic remained even when the use of helmets was expected to reduce death rates from Okada.

Okada riders have also been heavily associated with crime. Many Okada riders have used their motorcycles to help armed robbers escape or knowingly assisted in robbing commuters in the past. Also they are notorious for hooliganism. If a motorist knocks down one Okada rider, others are often known to mete out jungle justice as a show of solidarity to their colleague leading to destruction of property and even deaths.

If you consider how many Okada riders are not familiar with traffic laws or disregard them outright and often do so annoyingly then you might understand why the Government took action against them – they are usually the worst traffic offenders impulsively driving against the flow of traffic even at nights, driving without reflective jackets and over speeding is common place.

The main challenge with Okada culture seems to be with regulation. Unlike commercial buses and taxis that are marked and registered almost anyone can enter the Okada business without any records to show if he’s fit or not to ride one. If a criminal decides to ride a motorcycle today and commits a crime with it how do you trace him?

These are some of the reasons the Lagos State Government took this action and it’s in line with other states as well including the FCT. As far back as the 2005, the then FCT minister Nasir El-rufai decided to ban Okada from Abuja metropolis limiting them instead to the outskirts for safety and in order to preserve the Abuja master plan which made no provisions for commercial motorcycle operators as a source of Transport within the metropolis.

This obviously has both its good and bad sides. The good side which is what the Lagos state government is pushing is the reduction in number of fatal road accidents, drop in crime rates and improvement in vehicular movements within the city.

The bad side is that for many people the Okada was and still remains a convenient friend in a bustling, densely populated city like Lagos where traffic jams are everywhere but may be not so for a place llike Abuja with wide roads, traffic lights and many alternate routes.

Fried rice with Moi Moi and fried goat meat goes for between N700 and N1000 in many African restaurants and eateries here in Abuja.

You can order for 2 liters of carrot juice for N4000 from Succo Naturale. This makes for a delightfully tasty drink.

TravelNick Cavanagh: Questioning Everything Through Compelling Photography In Abuja by Abujafood(op): 10:42am On Nov 06, 2012
https://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/76621_2518079529088_1927587887_n.jpg
At the back of our minds, when we pick up camera phones and digital devices to capture an image, we know that this action is deeper than a simple point and shoot process. Our decision to click the shutter button points to a need to capture a certain moment in a tangible way.

As Aaron Sussman, author of “the Amateur Photographers Handbook” puts it, “Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever. . . it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”

These thoughts came to mind, when I spoke to Nick Cavanagh about his passion for photography recently here in Abuja. An Englishman by birth (Mancunian to be specific) but a global citizen by experience, Nick is a professional photographer that specializes in portrait and landscape photography. I first came across one of Nicks images through an adventurous bout of internet surfing.

It was an image of a rusted and forgotten old car parked in a wooden garage. I could immediately feel the thick nostalgic atmosphere of a moment that hinted both at the stationary and fluid notions of time and it immediately made an impact. That’s what great photography is all about, it draws you in and makes you feel something through the unique and compelling story the image portrays.

“It all started in 1992 at age 21, I was naive and had just traveled to Post Apartheid South Africa. My perception of SA was of an evil place, but I soon realized this wasn’t true – if the place is evil why are people flying in, they should be running out – at the time, I was staying in Kuruman, a farming settlement which was a highly conservative Afrikaans society which still maintained much of the Apartheid legacy and on arrival, there was a bomb explosion at the local ANC office. Back then my camera was for me a learning tool. The police had cordoned off the area and weren’t allowing anyone in. But I got past the police marks simply telling them I’m Nick with the Daily Mail and took rare shots of the bomb scene which were eventually published to the rest of the world”.

This single experience had taken Nick unawares but it was the start of a career which has seen him travel across Africa to East Africa and lately Nigeria where he offers expert landscape and portrait photography. History as far as he’s concerned is just another form of Photography “the only difference is in History you tell stories with facts but in photography it’s with pictures”.

Interestingly, Nick holds a degree in History from the University of Leeds and is also a family man; a husband and father of two boys. Not all photographers it seemed were those solitary and tortured types. In fact Nick is quite the opposite with a very open and interesting personality. With no prompting, Nick proudly shared some interesting trivia about his hometown of Manchester “the world’s first computer was built in Manchester, Karl Max wrote most of his theories while staying there and the Mathematical genius Alan Turing who helped the Allies decode secret messages that helped defeat the Nazis in World War II was from Manchester”.

Nigeria however, has been the subject of most of his conversations and photography since 2010. Traveling as far as Bida in Niger state and Lagos - Kuramo Beach and the Agege Market – among others capturing rare shots of unique moments and encounters of Nigerian life. His perception of Abuja is of a city of fun loving people. “driving here is terrible, the climate is good, blue clear skies, low humidity, hot weather especially around January and February and the people are more accessible and accommodating”. I agreed.

I couldn’t end the interview without asking Nick about his favorite food. He loves Roast Beef and Crispy Bacon but also has a weakness for Nigerian pepper soup. For Nick, life is about “Questioning Everything” a mantra which he tries to instill, not just his children but also through his photography too.
