maasoap: I think this picture will say it all. And this narrow escape that gave me second chance has really changed my view about this life. These our precious lives that we value so much can come to an abrupt and unexpected end at anytime. This happened during my service year in August 2011 on East-West road in Bayelsa territory. Nobody died, pure miracle. And I was sleeping when it happened. I was told what caused the accident that one Okada man came out from the filling station into our lane on the high way. Our driver in an attempt not to kill him just swerved at very high speed, the rest they say is history.
Funny, in an attempt not to kill the Okada man your driver almost got all of you killed in the car instead! What if you had all been killed? Then you all would have paid for the Okada man's carelessness!

Ask4delaw: Mine happened on Ibadan-abeokuta road, the road is a single carriage way and narrow, we were going to ibadan from abeokuta and there was this particular trailer driving at a speed say 60km/h and every driver was ancious to overtake the trailer whenever there is a little chance to do so, there was somuch tailback, you know when overtaking on that kind of road, you have to be sure no vehicle coming from the opposite lane b4 pulling out from the behind of the trailer.when it was almost my turn,(we were approaching a bend)i was actually second car behind the trailer, all of the sudden, the trailer left is lane to the other and the car right in front of me followed the trailer, lo and behold !!! another trailer that was coming from Ibadan also left is lane and was directly driving towards me.(the two trailers swapped lanes)I didnt know when i turned my steering and ran into the bush to my right, the trailer was just few meters away from me,the action was so reflex, i couldnt control it.Luckily for me,there was no trees or big stones on my path when i was driving through the bushes. When the car finally came to rest, i was shaking. As the Lord would have it, none of my occupants sustained any injury and the car was in order.the vehicles coming behind me had to park and come to our rescue.{Reason for the swap> at the bent, a bus broke down on the lane of vehicles coming from ibadan,so the trailer coming from ibadan had to use our lane to avoid the bus on it lane, before the driver could finish the overtaking and go back to his lane,he was already close to the trailer in front of us,so the trailer in front of us had to use the other lane to avoid head-on collision}. All these happened within 5 to 10seconds.its like one of those clips in JAMES BOND movie.I thank God today am still alive.I also thank God for you too.
Thank God man! You should consider yourself extremely lucky some others are not so lucky when they run into bushes to avoid collision they could even fall into a ditch or large gully!

Car TalkYour Experience With Near Death Car Crashes by Abujafood(op): 12:43pm On Nov 12, 2012
Hi All,

I just thought I start this thread first as a way to thank God for the miracle I had this morning while driving to meet up with an appointment! I was just a few inches away from death and how I managed to steer my car to avoid a collision with a trailer is still a mystery to me.

I had just missed my way heading towards Durumi (I initially wanted to connect Maitama with the highway heading towards Area 1) when I suddenly found myself driving towards Gwarinpa. I realised I was on the wrong route and decided to reverse on the service lane to re-enter the express from a diversion to make a u-turn and head back towards Wuse when suddenly I found a trailer which I hadn't seen from the rare view mirror driving at full speed on my left also trying to negotiate through the same diversion. The path was so narrow and the trailer so close to me that I just started saying my last prayers while still trying to control the vehicle. Luckily the trailer over took me without any contact made but the closeness between me and the trailer was so narrow with almost no space left that I thought I wouldn't live to see another day.

Anyways lesson learnt! Share yours pls!

OP

I feel that way too! I think the best thing to do is to just break up with such a person. A perfect match shouldn't ever feel you're too clingy when you're merely showing how much you appreciate them! Do they mean to say being loved is too much burden on their shoulders?

Being put off because you're not getting close enough. If this is my reaction because you felt I was too clingy then it's bye from me!

A perfect match in a relationship is infectious, you both infect each other with love!

Nsq: It is really painful but you will be doing yourself a great harm by still holding on to that person. Move on with your life knowing fully well that person is not meant for you. It happens to me 4 months ago my girl friend call and said she no longer interested in the relationship because she went to pray and they told her am ok but am not d perfect man for her. 4 month later she's begging to come back saying it was a mistake. But am already in a new relationship and am loving it. I put her behind immediately she said that and moved on.
I can relate with your experience! Only difference is mine broke up without an excuse. Actually I feel she cheated with someone she preferred to me and couldn't justify the break up! Good luck to her sha as for me I want to move on although making the cheddah is the main thing right now!

CultureHow To Spot A Nigerian Abroad by Abujafood(op): 11:19am On Nov 09, 2012
https://afripopmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/prince-naija.jpg
Nigerians are easy to identify among other Africans and for good reasons too. One in five Africans is a Nigerian, crowning Nigeria as the giant of Africa due to sheer numbers. Although not all Nigerians are as clueless and stick out in a crowd like the popular Nollywood character 'Osuofia in London', we do have a very distinct identity that is recognised around the world.

The way Nigerians dress, talk and relate with each other is unique among fellow Africans and it’s easy to spot a Nigerian from a mile away. But what are those interesting characteristics that truly identifies a Nigerian?

Accent

Clearly one of the most identifiable signs that you’re dealing with a Nigerian is in their speech. Nigerians have a unique way of pronouncing words. It is usualy quite staccato with 'th' pronounced as 't' to name a few idiosyncrasies.

Loud Speech

Nigerians are notorious for raising their voices when talking. This might embarrass a first time visitor or someone not so familiar with this way of speaking. Simply put, if a Nigerian is shouting at you it does not necessarily mean they are angry with you.

Open and Friendly

Nigerians are usually very popular with large networks of friends and contacts. This may be why we thrive on Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Most Nigerians will not hesitate to share their food, home and belongings with you and they are quick to help out if you are in need. There's no need to be alarmed by the Nigerians instant familiarity, it's just the way they work. It's not okay to just greet a Nigerian, you have to ask them about their family, work, health and so on. But if you're not comfortable taking the lead, they'll gladly do so first.

Extravagant Extroverts

"Too much" is not a concept Nigerians are familiar with when it comes to spending their wealth to look, feel and live good. The average Nigerians loves to be the center of attention and is only too keen to tell you about the latest this or that he has in his possession. The bigger the better.

Slangs

Apart from America no other country in the world has more slangs than Nigerians and that’s because slangs form a very important part of communication among Nigerians. This short hand form of speech, sometimes known as 'pidgeon' or 'broken' english forms a large part of how Nigerians relate with each other, regardless of class or tribe. For instance “How far” meaning "how are you?", “Jonzing” a shorthand for being tricked and “no lele” for no problem are just some popular phrases Nigerians use on a daily basis.

Nigerian Music

Nigerians love their music, parties and any form of entertainment that involves music, dancing and a large gathering of people. Tuface Idibia, PSquared, Davido, D'Banj and MI are just a few musicians you'll find on a Nigerian playlist.

pauloman: @op

My guy dont dull yourself, deep in your heart you know you have lost this girl as yours. See the minute your gal friend starts making cheap lies to you, then you should know something is amiss and work towards salvaging it. But this actually depends on what you want from the relationship ,whether you want to marry her or there are other things she brings into your life that you cant do without or let go of.

I just wonder why some people will want their spouse or partner to trust them when they dont create an atmosphere for the other person to trust them.

Anyway from your interrogations to her its very obvious she is not trustworthy because she is lieing and such a gal is obviously keeping other boy friends so my advice to you is to break up that your relationship and get a more committed and trustworthy person to give your heart to except you want to get high blood pressure through out your stay with her as your girlfriend.
That's a point I kept hammering to her, how can you tell me to trust you when you're acting strange and suspicious and giving silly replies for your behavior? Time to bolt and find someone more trust worthy!

RomanceRe: Is She Cheating? by Abujafood(op): 10:01am On Nov 09, 2012
@all,

Update on things so far!

I spoke to her this morning and asked her to account for her whereabouts within those 5 hours and when she got home. Rather than come out straight she said if I can't trust her then I should forget her that what's the point in remaining in a relationship if you can't trust your partner.

She was playing reverse psychology and counter-attack each time I asked a question like;

What's the name of the person who was charging your phone?
Response: A lecturer and that she often times charges her phone with him. (she was reluctant to answer until when I hung up and she called back)

Why didn't you call back immediately you noticed my missed calls like you always do?
Response: I didn't check my phone until when I got home

Why did you spend so much time getting home? (Normally she's home before 10PM)
Response: There was serious traffic (she claimed she spent 4 hours in traffic)

When did you get home?
Response: 11 PM (The day before she had told me she was just getting home and that was around some minutes to mid night)

When you got home around 11PM and saw my missed calls why didn't you call back?
Response: She said she was about to call me before I called her.

There were several other questions I asked her but she was not composed answering me. I noticed that anytime I ask her a question to unsettle her she hits back with why I'm still going out with her if I don't trust her or tell me if I don't believe what she said then that's my business.

Obviously she's lying since she neither wanted to answer my questions freely unless i pushed her to and her story is not consistent! Isn't breaking up with her not a good idea now?
