Have you read Prof. Achebe's memoir? Why is this forum filled with re.tards?! Some of the issues you raised have been flogged to death on this forum. There was never a time during the war when Biafra requested for food aid from Nigeria! Nigeria did not feed Biafra during the war! Nigeria deliberately prevented the supply of foods and relief materials to the Biafra women and children from the Aid agencies! Starvation as an instrument of war has been outlawed worldwide even before the start of the 2nd world war. Awolowo could have done bette in his capacity! Yoruba lame attempts at justifying that shameful act will continue to form bad blood between the two tribes for generations to come. Starvation is a war crime! I bet that you are in your hyper-tribalistic mood because an excerpt from the memoir painted Awolowo in a rather compromising picture. Pls read the memoir first. |
I'm igbo and I don't believe that the east is more populated than the north for several reasons. Since that census you cited the north has continued to practice polygamy and produce tens of children per wife, some men have 20 children to their name. Meanwhile the events of biafra and the mass exodus from the east to all parts of Nigeria and all parts of the world can't be ignored. Northerners aren't going anywhere, may able bodied men live and die in the village they're born in. Where as nearly all easterners leave the east at least once in life. these things will effect census figures, I'm not saying the igbo are less in number than the Hausa, that I don't know, but if someone tells me the east is losing population I wouldn't argue because I'm seeing it for myself.
I concur with Gov. Ezeife! The east is more populated than the north. Though the north is mostly populated by moslems and practices polygamy. But I must caution you that polygamy is not synonymous with population explosion, polygamy is not synonymous with baby boom. If polygamy gives rise population increase, then Saudi Arabia will be competing with China, having practiced polygamy for more than a millenium as mandated by their Islamic religion. You must factor into your equation some important population indices such as herd fertility, infant mortality rate, life expectancy, access to quality and affordable healthcare, etc. It is on record that south trumps north by a wide margin when comparing both regions using the indices listed above. Population of the north cannot rise if they give bith to a million babies; only for 90% of them to die in their first year of life. Therefore, Ezeife is right afterall. |
Les: listen to yaself! wat's a google? Abobby, na we de live for 9ja na, that link and google put together no know my 9ja pass me we don de for 9ja sote i don begin to de smell 9ja 9ja na, na wa o. Cleanman: ACMTEN-TEN,are u an i.diot or what?..or you simply just prefer to display ur crystal stupidity in here?....so if Nigerians live on the so-called "$50"per day,hw much will impoverished malamians live on?..ode.Are we comparing Nigerians to Malawians here? Really, you have problem with comprehension. While pointing one of your stupld fingers at me, four are pointing back at you. What's my business with the Malawians? SMH |
Todaynatoday: Mr man, actually you are the one not making any sense. Who asked you to engage the government in a show of bravado? All I said was, how are u making Nigeria better? You could even be more corrupt than the government you speak about. What do you mean by the rhetorical question "how are u making Nigeria better?" Seriously, are u expecting an answer? I told you to fvck off if you can't tolerate my criticism. I only challenged the notion of "giant of Africa", nothing more. How does that relate to "making Nigeria better"? FYI, I make Nigeria proud everyday in my profession. I put smile on the faces of Nigerians everyday. What do you sorry arrrse contribute to the betterment of this country? How does my critique of "giant of Africa" notion make Nigeria worse? |
GARRI~ WARLORD:The mind is a very terrible thing to waste. It's unfortunate that many Nigerians are encyclopaedia of ignorance including this f00l above. A quick google search like "percentage of Nigerians that lives on less than a dollar per day" AND "percentage of Nigerians that goes to bed hungry" would have exorcized ignorance demon off you. But you choose to blow your ignorance trumpet to the amusement of casual onlookers. Since you are mentally lazy, I decided to provide you with some links to help you overcome your laziness. www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/business/30792-’90%25-nigerians-live-on-less-than-$2-per-day’.html www.vanguardngr.com/2012/02/oil-reliance-fuels-nigerias-poverty-say-analysts/ naijagists.com/100-million-nigerians-earn-less-than-1-a-day-says-agency/ www.elombah.com/index.php/articles-mainmenu/566-paradox-of-plenty |
Todaynatoday: Na only online na im una go dey show power! Yada yada yada 'embarassment of yada yada yada' What have you done to make Nigeria better? instead of coming here to spread more hate, why don't you find something more meaningful to do like picking ur noseQuit smoking weed my dear! You are not making sense. Your mind have gone gaga if you expect me to engage the government in a show of bravado. Pls relocate to other forums or you better scrol past my comment if you are not comfortable with it. I say things the way I see it and I owe no apology to no one. |
OYINBOGOJU: That is what we face everywhere in the world but those against us now come back to admire us for our hardworking and never give up mind. Why should you be running helter-skelter from one end of the world to another if you are a citizen of a country that prides iself as the 'giant of Africa'? Why should 70% of the citizens of 'giant of Africa' live on less than a dollar per day? Why should 60% of citizens of 'giant of Africa' go to sleep hungry? 'Giant of Africa' that cannot afford protection to its citizens on foreign land. I guess you mean 'embarrassment of Africa'. |
Iwuanyanwu is a well-known political jobber. He endorsed Obasanjo's third term bid. He gave a full-throated endorsement to Ohakim during his campaign for 2nd term. Even though he saw the handwriting on the wall that Imolites will definetly reject Ohakim. He was one of the prominent Abacha and Babangida jobbers in the east. His position on this issue should not be taken seriously since he has always found himself on the wrong side of history. His views should never be used to guage the view of common Igboman on the street. He is just another misguided out-of-touch plutocrat. |
@Whitehorse, Keep it coming! I'm enjoying your review. Though your effort so far is too scanty to assuage my voracious appetite. But I commend you for your effort nevertheless. |
I can't wait to grab a copy of the latest memoir from our erudite professor. |
Abeg make una buzz off from dis thread! Ogogoro people! Una no dey move market. ![]()

preciousoz: [q :ouote author=PStylish]Yes o! Some lazy people are waiting to scramble for abandoned properties in a land which they are not sure whether it belongs to their ancestors. |
Aigbofa: Nobody is displacing anybody. There are other Nigerians, Indians, Lebanese, Chinese, other Africans living peacefully in Lagos, nobody is bugging them and none of them is claiming to own Lagos except ibos. Why?Igbos are not claiming to own Lagos. But you cannot deny the fact that they are part of the economic lifeline of Lagos. I expect Yorubas to respond to Igbo claims by raising their game. Afterall, it's all about competition. Igbos achieved their feat through sheer hardwork. Why do you get riled up by such claims? Since you consider it fallacious, why do u develop er.ection over it? Seriously, I wont lose sleep if Yoruba claims Enugu. Anyone is free to claim anything. It doesn't change the realities on the ground. |
dayokanu: One deported them, One sacked them from employmentThis is why I don't engage you in your tomfoolery. You are too shallow upstairs. How can any reasonable person compare workers retrenchment with deportation in the country of your birth? |
dayokanu: I hope you send this memo to the Abia government who sacked non -indigenes tooDid he deport them from Abia state? You are such a lousy fellow. Why is common sense a luxury to you? Must you always look for flimsy excuses to justify a unconstitutional act? |
Yorubas are emotionally attached to Lagos, just the way the Ijaws are emotionally attached to Port-harcourt. Even the educated ones among them cannot overcome their emotion and be objective on the issue of Lagos. Sometimes I find it hard to predict the stance of Yorubas on hot issues in Nigeria. They continue to flipflop non-stop. Yorubas want a united, peaceful Nigeria. At the same time practices apartheid system by discriminating against their fellow citizens. Lagos is part of Nigeria and every Nigerian citizen is free to live and own property in it. It's painful when some folks from other parts of the country displaces you from your ancestral land. My sympathy! That's the sacrifice you make in a united country. |
bayooooooo: Slice it anyhow, your post carries a badge of tribalism. Why Igbo and not others? Why not Fulani should look towards the East to raise competent and sympathetic leaders? What's in the East that diminishes leadership qualities that is not found in other parts of the country or anywhere in the world? You seem to project an image of a "detribalised" fellow but right within you is a man of unbelievable nepotism suffering from superiority complex. Change your ways!Succinct and to the point! Nothing left to say. |
ijaw citizen: AFAM4EVER, I KNOW YOU TOO WELL.....YOUR HIGHEST PAID JOB HAS BEEN OPENING THREADS THAT INSULT IJAWS (EVERYONE PLS CHECK HIS PROFILE TO SEE THE SLANDEROUS THREADS HE HAS BEEN POSTING TO ATTACK THE IJAWS, THINGS A NORMAL PERSON WONT THINK OF)You did not respond to his comment which is "defend your 28 million figure". Rather you cleverly avoided his subject matter to launch a poorly-directed emotional attacks on him with the aim of bullying him to silence. Pls, "defend your 28 million figure"! |
Ngodigha: Monkey, where did you get 28 million from?.Sorry, how did u come up with that figure? Cos the population of Bayelsa is under 2 million(including non-Ijaw residents and indigenes). We are well aware that Ijaws are not the majority in any state outside Bayelsa state. Did you count the fishes in their rivers too? ![]() |
Jarus: There are economists that 'know better than me' that also supported it anyway. Ayo Teriba, Basil Emegwara etcYour temperament is on par with that of your friend, Sanusi. Birds of the same feathers fly. . . . |
afam4eva: So, what i want to know is the test that one needs to take to ascertain one's physical fitness level because i don't want to be running one day and slump. Doctors in the house please help a brother.1. HIV test: b4 u export drug resistant mminwu from Naija to Brazil. ![]() 2. Urine microscopy, culture and sensitivity: b4 u introduce drug resistant gono to umu akwuna Brazil. ![]() 3. Chest x-ray, ECG and Lung function test: we no wan carry corpse come back. ![]() 4. Psychiatric test: b4 we export onye isi mgbaka to Brazil. ![]() |
Okija_juju: Nna idi kwa serious na ije Olypmics a' o!! Ok;@bolded Nna, u be real dibia Okija. ![]() |
We celebrate with the Ijaws for crossing the 40m mark. 'Nna men' dis Ijaw population has been increasing with geometric progression(15m - 30m - ~45m) Soon their population will be more than that of Nigeria itself. |
hmm. . . What an impressive show of grammar slugfest! We the common people can never be decieved by the likes of Sanusi and Dele Mamodou. They are different sides of the same coin. Both can be equated to the ruling party and opposition. When a ruling party falls from grace and joins the ranks of opposition. Their next strategy is to whip up sentiments in their bid to become relevant once more. None of them sides with the man on the street. |
Metalgoong: I will ferociously unleash my fury on any idi.ot that attacksBiko buzz off! Don't fight for us |
Chino was looking for a pretext to attack our Imo brothers. And Rick-ross handed him the oppotunity. The reason why a non-Anambra Igbo threads drives him mad is still a mystery to me. We Anambrarians condemn all forms of unfair attacks on our Imo brothers. I urge all Imolites to maintain their calm. Chino and Okija are rogue characters and it has always been difficult to call them to other in the thick of their insanity. We can criticize Rochas constructively without demeaning our Imo brothers. God bless Imo state! God bless Alaigbo!! |
