chrisw29: HEllo everybody, I need some advices, I want to apply for a tier 4 visa for a postgraduate in kingston university. I am waiting for my CAS. my wife will pay for all my expenses, but on the online application you have the option of an official sponsor and parent or guardian, how can I say that it's my wife who is going to pay? I have her approval letter, our marriage certificate and her bank letter confirming that she has the required amount (20000 £). my second question is that I took my toefl test last october 25th 2013 and I haven't yet received the certificate, I just received the online results, If I apply for the visa with a print out of these online results will that be a bad point for me?

Hello Chris, the best thing to do is to tell your wife to transfer all the money to your account and you'll state you're sponsoring yourself...that way you'll avoid unnecessary stories. Best of luck bro

bebe2: pls guys confirm,
just read dat all schools need the school fees to be paid before enrolment?

and pls how do get scholarships.? some pple here seem to have scholarships frm the school.

Not all schools require the fees to be paid b4 enrolment...but I think ALL SCHOOLS require an initial deposit to be made in order to guarantee commitment from the prospective student. Wish your niece the best of luck.

Your university or your intended uni? undecided undecided
You use only the documents asked for in your CAS
BTW, seems its January entry you are coming for
Hope you are well kitted for British winter when you come grin grin

Tell am...the cold here can kill chicken. Lol. By the sides, as Ochuko rightly said, the documents stated in your CAS is what you need to present during your visa application.

bebe2:

Ok, I understand.

As for my niece, don't think the girl can even accesses a website, how can she? Dem no get for house, na public school she goo dem no get there.

I just want want some one that can guide me thru the process of getting her a student visa in the uk, as I have no clue wen it come to these matters.

First of all bebe2, if your niece 'really' can't access a website, that's 'gobe' cos almost all her research will require surfing the web. That said, it depends on the school she intends to apply to. Let her pay the initial deposit, get an unconditional offer letter, provide evidence of funds in a bank account ( preferably hers) for a period of 28days, and finally pray.

Also, if you go through this thread, you'll find useful info on how to get the visa...It's been a wonderful experience thus far here at the Uni of Buckingham. See if they offer a course she's willing to study and then apply. Best of luck.

mjan: Good day all,
Please I have been thinking of what to do with my remaining school fees in my account and maintenance fee. Do I have to open a domicile account though I prefer changing it in my bank (GTB) and taking it cash as am travelling since I intend paying the remaining part of my school fees immediately I get there to earn myself some percentage of the school fees which is 100k+. Please those with previous experience should kindly advise me on the best thing to do. Thank you.

I think the best thing to do is to go with ur card. Carrying cash has it's disadvantages though. Other than the charges, i still believe doing a transfer is better.

Thanks Adam,
Everything is still shapeless to me, I'm trying. To cope. Resuming late (last day of enrolment) has made it a lot harder. No accommodation yet, immediately after registration today I was taken to the classroom. Lectures 12-5pm. The lecturer told I was there but I was in a ghost mode...lol.. Cranfield University, it is. Where are you at?

Buckingham...

Ola one:
You cook bucket-load of rice and keep in your freezer all week innit?
Interspersed with 1.99 chicken and chips, abi?

Try visiting a naija restaurant twice a week or cook another stew apart from your usual, tasteless 1-pound chicken. Also, don't go to your college with a recycled bottle of water in your bag every day.
Then, do the maths.

Ola one, though funny but I assure you, you're getting it all wrong. I've got no qualms with anyone spending £10,000 a week on feeding or whatsoever inasmuch as it doesn't affect my account balance...it's ur life. What I'm saying in earnest is this, don't try to spend beyond ur means, irrespective of what you think, there are people who still live on less than what you think you can't survive on. Finally, I believe here's not home, I'll be gone as soon as I'm done with my studies, then why the heck should I try and impress anybody with my spending? Ola one, that's foolishness of the highest order...except ...

Bro no be like that
How pesin go leave Naija without warm clothing? angry sad
Hoodies, 2 jackets (no be suit own O!) tongue and a duvet I brought along have been of great help
Should top up on them over the weekend
Hopefully, guardian09 gets the message

Sunderland dey O my bro!
Been running into more than a few blacks Nigerians here
Some we greet each other, many others especially the females you bone (actually na dem bone 1stly)
Some might ask,how do you know they are Nigerians?
Don't worry, trust me you will know a Naija when you see one grin grin
Still finding my feet here but should post in the https://www.nairaland.com/863688/nigerian-students-uk-how-survive/36 page when I'm more settled
Accommodation is my current challenge but should nail that down by tommorow latest
Public transport for here na die just like the wintry cold winds (though an indigenous classmate who came to school in 12-13°C temperature said yesterday was a sunny day undecided
Oyino dey SMOKE Siga well well though many buildings and spaces are smoke free
The food sef na something else but discovered a Nigerian eatery near the only African food store over here (expectedly its costly though)
You also need to be fast thinking on your two feet
Even if you see someone (oyinbo) ready to answer your questions, understanding hin accent na another thing
Also zip up your wallet with extra strength super glue grin grin
If not, you go dey apply for student loan from Nigerian embassy, your school and tight fisted oyinbos shocked shocked with time cos its so easy to spend here, so so easy to act as a BIG BOI
So many shimmering gadgets, devices, shoes, clothes etc
Thus plan your spending

@fiscalcliff, very true what you've noted. About the warm clothes, I strongly advise, get something from Nigeria to hold body b4 visiting primark or wherever it is. Also for the food, Mehn....that one Na war, 'twas more of a testimony and jubilation when I prepared Egusi soup on Sunday. Even my neighbours came to savour the delicacy. I don chop Tesco and Waitrose food tire b4 the Egusi inspiration came in. Dunno why some Naija peeps want to me more English than the English here, with their confused accents and fake fronting.

I would like to take an exception to a comment by someone on this thread that compared some previous active posters on this thread to the proverbial 10 Lepers, when you're overwhelmed with work and knowing the vast difference btw the Uk and Naija educational system, you'll have no option but to devote everything to ur studies. It's only when you've been able to adapt reasonably well ( that's after a few weeks)that you can attend to other issues. I believe most peeps still follow this thread even if they don't drop a line. That said, I still got madt love for this thread and everyone here.

Adapting quite well here, massive difference! Just 8 of us in my class, got at least 2 presentations every week coupled with assignments. Truancy no possible at all...your lecturer get ur fone number, unlike in Naija, I didn't even know my course mates finish, Na lecturer I wan know?

I concur with fiscalclif on tightening ur purse with super glue, no pady for jungle o!

Jidevince and Jen...waiting to see you guys in Uk by Weekend...welcome smiley

I wonder where you people get your facts from. There are statements here made out of emotions. If you care to know how MTN treats her staff, approach an authoritative source. The amount mentioned of contract staff here is misleading. Maybe there is a category of contracr staff earning that with MTN, BUT WHY DIDNT such a one declare what role he's performing.

I know what obtains because I have first hand info; d contract staff members I know wt MTN earn far above waht is being posted here.
