There used to be great post on this thread but all has gone since the Brabus matter came up. I have been bored with the issues, curses and have stopped following the thread. Coming back to it after a while, i still find myself in the same shyte. |
kniru:08181811140. It only depends on where you are. |
kniru:It is fixable, you need to buy a new VTC actuator or the whole camshaft and replace. Only the valve cover will need to come off. Its a 30 min job. |
Is she adopted? Cos her father kinda looks like a monster. No offence intended! |
kniru:That was the first issues we solved in the car. Most of this car engines have that sound. I have seen so many Toyota engines with the sound too. Most of the cars are 2007 to 2010 models. It comes from intake camshaft VTC actuator shown in the picture below..

Miscellaneous:From what comes to m mind: 1. Plot survey 2. Topographic survey 3. Setting out 4. Excavation leveling 5. blinding leveling 6. ground floor leveling 7. suspended floors leveling 8. settlement monitoring In between, there are several activities that are carried out by the surveyor. You will be surprised that the whole landscaping activity depends on the surveyor. No, i am not Itsekiri. |
Miscellaneous:Welcome. Setting out is also a surveyor's operation. There are lots of other responsibilities for a surveyor on a building site. For example, excavation level, blinding level, foundation level, ground floor level and other suspended levels must be established by surveyor. Were gradient/slope needs to be set out, leveling will be carried out. Leveling is a skill most civil engrs must posses in other to be successful in construction. My friend, a civil engineer, works as a surveyor with a road construction co and is good at it. His colleagues were put on redundancy while only he kept his job during the loss of construction jobs last year. |
Miscellaneous:Leveling is not needed to make a site plan. Assume a 2-dimensional space, Leveling is the vertical difference (in the Y-axis) of point A and point B while traversing is horizontal difference (in the X-axis) of point A and point B. A site plan is a horizontal plan but a building section shows you the vertical characteristics which is where leveling of the land is required. Secondly, when you buy a piece of land, the boundaries of the land must be described on the document. Its is either you are given the coordinates of the plot or the plot is given as an offset from an established benchmark (beacon) close to the plot. If its a benchmark, then traversing may be required to establish the plot but coordinates are more direct. How is the coordinates gotten for each land? Every point on earth has a unique coordinate established from latitudinal and longitudinal lines drown across the globe. A coordinate is a set of 2 figures, the first called northing and second called easting. A squared plot will have 4 sets of coordinates. Also, 2 set of coordinates will have a specific distance between them. For example this coordinate point N377298.745, E1483034.794 is exactly 100m from the point N377298.745, E1483134.794. The 100m is also in a specific direction. The ideal thing is that plots are sold after a layout has been made by either government or private developers. A large piece of land is broken into several piece of plots which the developer will establish the coordinates to sell to the buyer. The buyer will go directly to his land from the coordinates given. |
kniru:Long history. That engine was a write off. He replaced it but was sold a lemon which has been giving sour taste. The new engine was a furbished one with lots of issues on crank shaft and later oil pump. The pump has been replaced but the crank shaft has not been available or affordable at the time. |
luvinhubby:I know for sure it wasn't a foreign or locally refurbished engine as i was in the process of buying it. There was not overheating but there was very high speed and acceleration. |
I am shocked she didn't cover that scar she has. Am so disappointed in my state's second family. |
Miscellaneous:Not a surveyor but i think the land surveyor as first duty transfers the coordinates of a piece of land on paper to land giving you physical boundaries of the piece of land. This can be achieved by traversing which is a method of surveying. Other methods could be used such as GPS. If an established benchmark (beacon) exist close by, traversing is the cheapest surveying method compared to using the GPS. Leveling is a surveying method for establishing elevations of different points. Its required for design purposes where the elevation is necessary to make a plan. So leveling comes last. |

Truthinlife:To properly design a solar back up system, one needs a lot of info from the client. The design is a hypothetical process but the equipment quality is key to achieving the design. If i were to make the plan for you, i would need to know the average grid supply time in your location. I also need to know your geographical location to estimate the amount of sun rays as this is not same every where. The client also has to provide the least back up time he expects, some want 12hrs others 24, 48hrs etc. The load description has to be more detailed such as LED TV, LCD Tv, Plasma TV or cathode ray - LED being the least power saving and cathode ray the worst. A 40" LED could consume as little as 50w while a 40" plasma as bad as 200w. So it makes a difference to know the specifics. Ultimately, your budget needs to be put in mind during the design. A solar back up system is like a desert trip, you have to properly estimate the quantity of water to carry. Too much, and you have yourself a deadly burden, too little and your life is at risk. When you get stuck in the desert, you manage your resources. With the current rate of equipment, N1million wont give you a system that you will be comfortable with AC and fridge together. So with 1m forget the AC, 2m is workable but 3m is convenient. The more M's the better. The basics for design is choosing an inverter/charger and the number and types of battery. Every thing boils down to 2 things, back up time and charging time. |
FastShipping:I really dont think you've been advised properly. There are a lot of inverters that can handle such loads. The only matter is that the setup cost will be very high which is still comparable to running cost of the traditional diesel generators. A 40kva generator will carry the same load as a 40kva inverter system, the difference is that there will be a specific backup time with the inverter while diesel gives you the expensive flexibility of buying fuel to extend its backup time. If you have the money to do a proper hybrid (solar/grid-tie) backup system, it is far more preferable and convenient. Besides, with the inverter, you can plan your load demanding appliances to be solar products. There are solar refrigerators, deep freezers, water pumps etc that can cut their power demands in half. An LED tv will save you up to 50% power that a Plasma TV would consume. Also, in designing an inverter system, it is not expected that all loads will be on at the same time. Take for instance the Microwave oven, how many hours in a day will it be required? Cumulatively, hardly an hour of 24. An inverter system needs a diligent user who will be strict on power saving. An inverter system guarantees you TV viewing time, cold refrigerator or freezers, lighting even in the dead of the night, decent sleep with fan and still friendly to your pocket. You have the option of connecting only chosen loads to inverter and the rest of the loads remain on grid or gen. If there are 14 AC's in the house, you definitely sleep in one room with 1 AC, its a choice to limit the AC's on the inverter. Imagine running out of diesel or servicing at every 200hrs. You may spend like 6k every day depending on grid supply and loading plus 20k service as early as every 8 days if running gen 24/7. Ask those who relied on generators how their lives changed after turning green, I am a witness. My small gen is covered in dust and cobwebs. |
sooperrescue:This is another chapter you have opened. Most ATF oils sold by these major marketers are Dexron II and it surprises me. Honda in particular does not like anything less than Dexron III. people always say Honda has gear problems but people dont know its the type of oil used that causes the damage. Last time i replaced ATF in one Honda, i looked for Dexron III in Oando and Total Filling stations in the entire Jos town to no avail. This thread needs to go front page. |
mayor2013:Mentioned in there, 2003 Honda Accord. |
These pictures shows the process for 2003-07 Honda Accord

GAZZUZZ:I really do not want to remove the evaporator since i will have to discharge the gas and recharge the system after the job and also would need to replace the o-rings. For the love of our environment, since we dont have Freon gas recycling systems in Nigeria, it is unwise to free all that harmful gas just for convenience. I also fear complications, "make i no buy market" or "make yanga wake trouble". |
The season is here where automobile A/C which used to be an accessory transforms to a necessity. I got thinking of my AC problems and an idea crossed my mind. Common problems associated with improper cooling is low Freon charge (AC gas) and dirty cabin air filter. Every average AC technician will point to these issues as first point of call. The next point of concern is usually dirt or bad fins on AC condenser and bad cooling fan. Average technicians will ask you to pressure wash the condenser for proper air flow. It just hit me that there could be more to the list without suggesting expensive part replacement. This particular thought is one i have not heard from most Nigerian AC technicians. The AC evaporator coil is one important AC component that suffers serious neglect from our AC technicians. Nigerian atmosphere is so polluted that cabin air filters cannot be said to be 100% effective which lets some dust settle on the evaporator coil. Also because of condensation, dust can stick and dry on the evaporator coil causing blockage. Mold growth is another factor which causes foul AC smell. It is worst when some Nigerian AC technicians decide to delete the presence of cabin air filter just like my car. This will send dust directly to the evaporator coil blocking its fins with time. I bought my car Nigerian used and have been aware that the cabin filter had been removed. I was lazy in buying it and have always left my car on recycle to block off the system from dusty air, its obvious that is far for ideal. I recharged Freon on my car once but i have feeling like my 03 Accord AC could have been better for reasons i dont know. It actually chills very well but after some minutes have gone by unlike my friend's 08 accord which sends chill air from vents seconds after turning on the AC. My research today has shown that mold formation and dust will actually drop the AC performance and cause foul smell. There are foam aerosol cans specifically for evaporator cleaning. Of course it will be a difficult thing to get in Nigeria. Since the evaporator usually has a condensation pipe, even spraying water on the evaporator will be of help if accessible. However the evaporator fins are very light and delicate so care should be taken on using pressurized water. I have seen YouTube videos and still studying the possibility of doing this as a DIY project. This is one thing i have in mind that could optimize my AC performance this hot season. After a review on my car's service manual, having access to the Evaporator involves removal of the blower motor unit and expansion valve cover from under the glove box compartment. |
Transferring that huge sum of money to your account is not a problem but transferring it out of your account will be a serious challenge. It is usual for banks to sit on your money giving flimsy excuses and bottlenecks just to keep the money within their bank. You may even have to bribe your account officer to do his normal job. Prepare your mind that EFCC will be aware of the transaction. It is better if you remove or increase some limitations on your account for easy dispensing of the cash |
sweetsandy4luv:The best advice you should have given to Ondo PDP is to boycott. That would have been losing honourably, but crying foul after spilling the milk is just too pathetic. They are not alleging electoral fraud, violence or any other reason for invalidating an election but giving flimsy excuses which they always bring when they lose. |
sooperrescue:This info gladdens my heart as i had the knowledge that for long Nigerian motorist are not aware of the type of oil they should be using on their cars and these marketers keep giving us rubbish. Keep up with the good enlightenment. |
J4parry:Thats along time ago. I watch only DSTV now and sometimes MyTv |
Mynd44:You need to buy a new charger. Buy a good charger that is a min of 2.0A. Most very fast chargers don't last and drop in charging rate. I have 2 chargers that lost their charging speed, one is tecno the other Samsung. |
herzernIsHere:Its called typographical error. |
I have read a lot of comments with most being against the CBN. I support the CBN on this move and would explain why in my elementary understanding of demand and supply. Yes, if you have $1billion in your dorm account and u earned it legitimately , in saner climes government should not ask you to spend it by force but this is not saner climes. On the flip side, how did you get the dollars? There are 3 broad ways to earn dollars as a Nigerian; repatriated funds, export earnings and direct currency swap deals through BDC or banks. The 1st two are very good for our economy but when such an owner of the funds does not utilize the money, Nigeria does not benefit. When such monies are exchanged for the Naira, a sizeable demand for fx is taken off government's back as supply. We all know that the more supply the less demand and the less the price. So why would a patriotic Nigerian store fx. Say the $1billion was exchanged by either bank or BDC, who supplied the Bank or BDC? CBN right? How did CBN get the Dollars? Selling crude oil right? Now this is where the problem is, while other legitimate Nigerian business men demand dollars to import useful commodities and equipment for local consumption, the government can't afford to give every body but someone has gotten it and locks it up. That's called saboteuring even if the money is urs. Its like a wayward child whose father gave 100k for sch fees but child reports he was robbed which never happened. The father takes another 100k from the home building fund to give the child. Now, this child is not aware that its an investment meant to provide a goodhome for him, but no the child's wants a wayward life and doesn't care about the repercussions. When the father retires without completing the home building, the family becomes distressed without a home just because the child was wayward. Every Nigerian has a responsibility to make this economy great but we are wayward and still blame government for not doing enough after deliberately sabotaging it. We all know Nigeria is a mono product economy which means government provides for upwards of 90percent of forex demand, it is wrong for anyone to take a large portion of that forex and lock it up. Based on this premise, I support the govt to create a timeframe for keeping forex unused especially when we know govt provides the forex. |
Not that i support the environmental pollution going on in the Niger Delta but the Niger delta people lost my empathy after their own sons and daughters in the name of Niger Delta avengers and the rest decided to blow up these pipelines causing more pollution. We all know pipelines leakages are non intended or acts of negligence but when those who live in such communities decide to blow up the pipelines using explosives, then i see no reason why i should join in protest. Now we cannot even separate the accidental leakages with attacks. How can this government do what previous governments have not done? Finally a government has shown serious commitment to cleaning up the ND environment but the same people rejected it by causing more leakage. You cut government funding and expect government to replace the over 30 years old pipes. Where is logical reasoning? |
Ahmeduana:You are not making any sense. How is the appointment of Chief Justice of the state or the house suspending one of their own for offence commited before Obaseki's election relate to the election trubunal? |
iyisco2001:That pressure wash is actually horrible. I was at my mechanic the other day when a guy with a 2010 VW passat finished his service and wanted recommendations on which car wash to visit for engine wash. He was advised not to try it for some time or atleast don't go to the guys accross the road. Next thing was the car was across the road, water spraying at high pressure on his engine. Fast forward, a month later the car never left there and was pushed back to the mechs. I never use the electrician in this workshop as I see him as the greediest illiterate Mech. The car refused to start and the battery ran down. All batteries in the workshop ran down except mine which I refused giving. Next thing this mechanic did the unthinkable, he went and rented 2 100Ah truck batteries. He kept kicking till I called him after the first battery died and told him you are only going to fry the starter motor which he ignored. I warned him if it were my car, he will certainly pay for my starter motor if he insist on doing this. Intact I told him to his face I will never let him repair my car or any car in my parents house. 2 mins later, it was over with a burnt starter motor. Any ways I only do hand wash on my engine. I have had problems with VTEC solenoid few times after washing. I currently have the problem intermittently after last wash. It sets off limb mode on my car. |
Most cars driven in Nigeria are North American cars. In this case, I always check for the API category of engine oil i use in comparison to the model year of the car. Category Status Servicehttp://www.api.org/products-and-services/engine-oil/eolcs-categories-and-documents/oil-categories#tab_gasoline Forte visco 2000, Mobile XHP, Total Quartz 5000, Oando oleum SL and other that are 20w50 are SL. At least their categories are good for most American cars on the road except for the fact that the grading is not the within the specified 5w20, 5w30 and 5w40 most cars recommend. One example of SJ category oil is Forte Super V and Oando Xl. |
realglobe:In the next 10 years, do you still think Hausas will keep ruling Nigeria? Not possible. Someone has to be, the only likely hood is Yoruba again. You saying i should keep deluding myself is a mere repetition of the Buhari win when i was told several times that i was deluding myself. When this one happens, please remember what i said. If i were an Igbo guy, i would start encouraging my people to stop thinking of self, join forces with the SS and either Hausa or the Yoruba which will lead to one betraying the other. For now, Igbos are on their own and cannot pull the political weight. This is a reality which most igbos dont realize. |
