The position of Ameachi sheds more light in the fracas.

It is very obvious that some illegal things were done to get the helicopters here but because of political differences, the helicopters got stuck. I is obvious Ameachi bought it, but couldnt get to use it. Its obvious that because of change in government, Wike is getting a bite of his own concoction by the FG seizing them.

Tit for Tat. The FG/whole of Nigerians win Rivers state/indigent people lose.

The battery is building up hydrogen gas inside.
You may need to change the battery sooner than later.

If you have been following us well, we dont ever recommend charging your batteries from small generators. No need bothering yourself with the problem
No. Its Deka Solar.
Plenty ventilation. Mind you its GEL not flooded.
I only do when it is very necessary most times after a day or 2 straight with no power from nepa. In that case, the battery will be dead and we would need power. This has happened 2 or 3 times since i got it.

From what i read, their is no immediate point of concern. The only thing i have asked my family to turn off the whole system when going out to avoid over charging.

I just noticed my inverter battery bulging at the sides. I have I bought it used and have used it well for a year and half. My area has very good supply of electricity. We get up to 23hrs a day in average. I think the inverter is overcharging it especially since most times blackout doesn't last 30mins - 1hr a day. The battery last like 10hrs on our full load.

Also, the inverter refuses to automatically switch to generator but switch with NEPA. I guess the frequency of the gen is not stable. Am using a mercury 1.2kv inverter.

Now please read and judge with care and concern. I arrived the church today for the second service. After Sunday school I was contemplating if I should sit where I am or move to the front. Now I have this Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. One of them is sitting at the back in any gathering. I don't like it. Right from time... After thinking of it for a while, I take my stuffs and move to the front row. The second row has been fully occupied. Thing is my church is a province, a fairly large one. Nobody really sits in the front row... Partly because they don't like being in the view of everyone and also because it's reserved for 'protocol'. Kinda. Keep following...

Being that I'm always in the second row, I've noticed over time that just one or two protocols sit on the first row every Sunday. It's a row with about ten or more seats. Now I don't mind sitting there cause I don't like to be at the back. Have in mind it's not the ministers or 'first timers' seat. Those one are on one side. Everyone knows. I'm sitting in the front row in the middle of worship when an Usher comes to me and say I can't seat there. "Why? I asked." he said it's for protocol. Protocol? Not ministers oo. I told him I don't want to sit at the back. Moreover no one is going to sit there. What if the church was filled up, won't people sit there? He goes to call another Usher who says the same thing.

To cut the story short, I told them since the church is now their own house, I'm leaving. Moreover, I was already getting angry which is not good for worship. I left even with everyone staring and all... Tell me, did I do wrong? Any one with such unnecessary protocol experience? Maybe I'm too much of a 'right claimer'?
I support you. I am not the type that wants to be in the front like that but if i had that kind of personality, i would stage a walkout too. If to say Osinbajo and his cabal arrived and i was asked to move, i would quietly move to another convenient or lesser seat they must find for me.

26 When you arrive, you may use the money to buy any kind of food you want—cattle, sheep, goats, wine, or other alcoholic drink. Then feast there in the presence of the Lord your God and celebrate with your household.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do Pastors Prefer Malachi To Deuteronomy When Preaching About Tithe? by adanny01(m): 1:42pm On Jan 22, 2017
plainbibletruth:
When God established the tithe he said it was to be 10% of Israel’s AGRICULTURAL produce. There was MONEY in use then but God still specified it as farm produce. In fact under certain conditions God allowed that they could TURN THEIR TITHE into MONEY (i.e. convert the tithe into money by selling them), take the money to where they are to tithe and use the money to buy back the tithe items for observance of the tithe. NO MONEY was used in TITHING!

So, if you must tithe, do it God’s way as clearly prescribed in his Word. Failure to follow God’s clearly laid down procedure is tantamount to DISOBEDIENCE!
I particularly have no problem with money as tithe as theste days most people dont have agriicultural produce so it only make sence to use money. However, Deut 14: 24-26 says
24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the Lord your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the Lord will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice.
So we can use money to buy whatever and use those items as tithe as described.

No you're wrong . There were 2 major tithes in Israel . Actually 3 . But majorly 2 . The first one is the yearly tithes Which goes to the priesthood esclusively every year. While the other is every 3 years . And also the tithes that is eaten in a feast is different from the tithes given to God .

Deuteronomy 14:22
22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.

Numbers 18:21
21 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

Leviticus 27:30
30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's: it is holy unto the Lord.

The second one is every 3 years which is shared .

Deuteronomy 14:28
28 At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:

The third one is for family to cover for the feast expenses or so . I will double check on this . The tithes that is eaten in a feast is different from the tithes given to God
I met an Indian who is a Buddhist and his wife a Muslim. He told me he got interested in the two religions (Christianity and Islam) and studied them. From his personal understanding he said, Christians do misinterpret the Bible likewise Muslims.

The particular question he asked me was, "Why do Christians read only a single verse and try to derive meaning from it when the verse is actually a point in context of the whole chapter or book?" He said, that way meanings are lost in translation or translation easily deviated from the context of the book or Chapter.

He said, if he where to be a pastor, he will never preach without reading to the congregation the entire book and giving a brief history of the book to properly deliver a message in context. I understand with him and subsequently in my private studies of the bible, it makes more sense to read the entire chapter and even the previous chapters and know the history of the book i am studying.

My point for the long epilogue is that, when you quote a single verse to buttress a point, the point will always be a myopic one. Those verses you quoted, read the entire chapter and you will understand it differently than reading only a verse.

Now the Op made a lot of sense because the Book of Deuteronomy is a book of sermons delivered to the people of Israel by Moses on their way to the promised land while Malachi is a prophetic book of the prophet Malachi whose actual author is still debated. Tithing was extensively described in the Book of Deuteronomy and by extension Moses. One would expect that when tithe is to be preached, Deuteronomy is more suitable as main readings and Malachi as supporting readings but thats not the case. Most pastors preach tithing with Malachi 3:10 which gives a convenient summary to tithing. I have never heard a pastor preach with the entire Deuteronomy 14 which is more detailed.

You quoted a lot of verses among which is Deut 14:28
28 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, 29 so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.
The mistake you make is 28 and 29 are both a single sentence which should be read together. Besides it says that Year's produce not those years produce, so it means only 1 year! The title is for Levites as well as fatherless, widows and foreigners. I marked red the word inheritance for you to take note since you mentioned Numbers 18:21

21 As for the tribe of Levi, your relatives, I will compensate them for their service in the Tabernacle. Instead of an allotment of land, I will give them the tithes from the entire land of Israel.
Sometimes, reading other versions of the bible makes one understand better. This verse does not mean that a tenth will be given in this case and another tenth to the widows, fatherless or forerigners as described in Deut 14:29

Deut 14:22 says
22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year.
However the next verse says to eat it.

23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the Lord your God always.
If I ask anyone to read Duet 14:22 without 23, he will definitely misunderstand so i am misleading him. Same with 28 and 29.
The final questions are, how many tithes are there? Or how many tenth's are we to remove? You said 2 abi na 3? If its 2 tenths thats 20%, if its 3 tenths then thats 30%. So what are we discussing?

Dude, where there is a will there is a way. All you have told me is to stick with the status quo and shot down anything different but you are forgetting is that at some point the baby has to be allowed to walk. It should stop being coddled and carried by its parents.

You are right that i am an outsider and that is good because outsiders see things with a fresh set of eyes. They see things from a different perspective. They say those outside the forest can see the entire forest but those in the forest can only see trees. There is a reason why the United States and Israel are some of the most innovative countries in the world and its because they attract 'outsiders' from different places in the world who brought there ideas and different ways of thinking to the country. I visited Naija recently and boy some of the things i witnessed where so ridiculous it was not even funny. Things that are soooooooooo illogical that they made me scratch my head as to who was making this horrendous decisions. You see outsiders observe things that insiders either cannot see or have stopped seeing. That's one of the reasons companies spend a fortune on consultants (outsiders) to take a look at there current processes and why failing companies usually clean house and start afresh with new people.

You don't need to be a genius to realize that Nigeria does not need 36 states and over 700 local govts. You don't need to be a genius to realize that Nigeria does not need 27 different ministries (and let's not talk about there counterparts at the state levels). You don't need to be a genius to realize that a govt going through hard times should be downsizing and not hiring more govt employees. This is just common sense.

I am sorry bro, but you can't keep doing the same thing over and again and expecting different results, that would be call insanity. Sticking with this same structure despite the failures shows that people are not willing to take the risk. They are willing to stay in Egypt because they are scared of the risks. Well guess what, there are no ideas that come risk free. Every new idea has a probability of not failing but still you try. Our current model is not working and we need a radical change. Leadership is not being afraid to make bold moves simply because of the disadvantages that come with the proposed solution or the fear that it might not work. This is what kills a lot of ideas in Nigeria. People shoot down new ideas everyday because they believe it won't work or because they only focus on the risks or demerits. How about focusing on what works. Great leadership is about weighing the good and the bad of every option and still picking one despite its disadvantages instead of simply doing nothing because of fear. Its about making bold moves and not being paralyzed by over analysis.

Sorry bro but there are no perfect solutions out there, Nigeria has to pick the best one possible. It has to sink or swim.
Thats a long sermon, however, we all agree Nigeria has a big problem. The only issue is the way to solve it. America is a very old country and am sure they made some of the mistakes we are making today before they got it right. We should not expect Nigeria to be like America, else we will take the next 150years trying to be like American by then they would have still been 150 years ahead.

Dude, do you know what a bond is? Americans have been using it from Independence in the 1700's. You want to tell me that local govts can't issue debt securities to raise money for public works in the 21st century?!?!?
Last time i checked, you dont need to pay cash upfront for a brand new car or house in America, thats because mortgages/loans are available by banks and foreclosures/repossessions are possible. In Nigeria, you need cash upfront to get a house or a car, getting a loan from a bank in Nigeria is a sour deal for the medium and low income earners while the rich take billions in loans they never repay. A director in the state civil service for example may earn N120-300k monthly depending on the ministry, a mortgage on a 3 bedroom bungalow will be upwards of N10million, no bank will be willing to keep open a mortgage for 13-34years if 20% of the salary is the amortization plan. Banks will usually like to close such loans in les than 5 years, to achieve that one has to earn atleast a million Naira to afford to get a mortgage or loan in Nigeria and stilll be comfortable. The cost of real estate in Nigeria is so high and personal income so low that the loan system in Nigeria cannot work. Some of this things are the root cause for corruption plaguing Nigeria.

This illustration is to paint a small picture of how things are. As it is now, local governments only pay salaries of staff with great stress, no one will buy a bond from a local government because they have no means to pay.

In Nigeria, only the FG issue bonds. No one, i repeat, no one will buy bonds issued by a local governments, not even states.

For the last time, Nigeria is not America! Neither are they on the same level and you are beginning to sound like you've never been to Nigeria.

First of all, restructuring the Kaduna airport should go to the local govt that the airport is in. That's how things work in other countries. You build your own airport and you maintain it irrespective of if air travel cuts across state lines.

Secondly, in a lot advanced nations powergeneration is done at a local level. The local govts should contract the building of a power plant to a utility company. It could be coal, hydro or wind. If one local govt cant afford it then they can band together with few other neighboring LGA's to invest in one blthroufh the bond markwt. Having a national power grid in a country of around 180 million is complete and utter foolishness as far as I am concerned and it is becoming clearer by the day. Its sad that the fed govts are still flogging the dead horse and expecting a different result.

Finally, if you think the Nigerian structure is OK, then ask yourself why almost all of them need allocation to even exist and then ask yourself what happens if you cut off that lifeline. Let's see how many of those states that won't fold.

The stupidity of the state and local govt officials being paid by the fed govt is stunning. What's even as stupid is that the majority of the revenue of the States come from the fed govt and don't even get me started on the local govts.

This country has been living beyond its means for so long and now that the country is in reckoning everyone is running helter skelter. As bad as this recession has been. It has exposed the weakness of the current system. You can't be using a significant part of you paying members of the govt from the fed level down to the local level.
From the look of things we will never finish this if one does not drop it.

i dont think you should be saying what you are saying if you know a little about governance especially n Nigeria.

No local government has the funds to build or maintain an airport in Nigeria. No local government can build an power generating station in Nigeria. 80% of electricity generation the the US is by the private sector while a huge part of the 20% balance is by the US federal government. Do you even know what a power grid is? Below is a picture of US power grid, are the Americans, Indians, Chinese, Europeans and the whole world all foolish by having power grids? Pls read some more.

If the repairs of Shiroro dam cast N2.4billion, how much do you think the construction of such a dam cost? How long do you think it will take a local govt earning N10million/month to build and maintain as if they dont pay salaries or attend to other responsibilities. last year 2016, a state like Nassarawa had a budget of only N77billion for a whole year. How long do you think it will take the state to build a N20billion power plant?

Let me stop here and encourage you to embrace reality and stop comparing Nigerian states and LG to developed countries.

That's what I am saying bro. Airports should not be the responsibility of the fed govt. It should be left to the local govt. This is one of the reasons things don't work in naija because the fed govt does almost everything. It provides revenue for States, it runs schools and hospitals, electricity etc. This in not how things should work.

First of all, there should be no allocation anymore states and local govts should be able to stand on there feet and take care of themselves.
They should raise there own revenue through taxes and provide there own services to the people like roads, electricity, schools (and there school systems), emergency services while the states monitor them.
There should also have there own police with the the peiple voting in there own police commissioners and state and district judges. This is how things work in several developed countries unlike in Naija where the fed govt almost runs everything.
If Buhari truly wanted change this is what he should have done along with gettin rid of the states and breaking the country into several autonomic regions under the oversight of the FG like Spain so that they can fend for themselves instead of expecting everything from the FG.
The cuurent Nigerian model is not set up to succeed and the more we persevere with this the more things remain the same.
Bro, even the US you are inferring has states and lower levels of governance. There is no doubt that states and LG are as important as the FG but our laws are weak and have several loopholes around them. LG used to have autonomy, what happened all of a sudden LGs became an appendix to state governments. The structure of Nigeria is OK, laws are archaic and weak. The legislature and the Judiciary are the real reson Nigeria will not get meaningful growth. Who makes the law? Legislators. Who presides over the law? Judiciary. If those 2 are weak, the FG, States and LG will always be misruled by the executive and that is what we are experiencing. Without proper laws and independence, state police agitation will end up in the wrong hands giving governors too much powers.

Back to the main issues, Air transportation can never be the responsibility of states because it is wholly either an interstate or international transport. In fact any form of social service that governments most provide that cuts across states is no longer a state responsibility. Providing water is a state responsibility because water networks must not cut across states. All roads linking 2 states or more automatically becomes a federal road. All rails cut across states. A sea port not only serves the state it is located but the entire country so it becomes a federal responsibility. Tertiary, Secondary and primary education must not cut across states so responsibilities are shared between FG, states and LG resp. Every country in the world has an electricity grid. Thats because not all states have the necessary factors for producing electricity. Factors of electricity production are hydro, gas, coal, nuclear, wind and sun. Coal is not as effective as gas, nuclear, we are not there yet while the last 2 are expensive and not very reliable. Basically, most countries rely on hydro and gas which cannot be done in every state while electricity can be transmitted across states, so it becomes a federal responsibility. Agriculture is a major social responsibility for provision of food security and foreign exchange, all tiers of government are equally responsible here.Of course external security belongs to the FG but internal security could be shared. However, It needs a very high level of interstate coordination to be able to split the federal policing we have to states as it will make it difficult for law abiding citizens to move with goods and services across states which is why it has remained a federal responsibility. As it is now, state governments provide logistics and other services to police in the state for efffectiveness. The list goes on and on.

My point is, restructuring is not our problem but effectiveness which only the law and law enforcement can provide.

I meant its not the job of the FG to rehabilitate the airport, that should be the responsibility of the local govt. This is goe things work in a lot of local govts.
Airports are also the responsibility of the FG that is why they have ministry of Transport while only few states have that ministry. Not all states must have FG owned airports so those states the FG deem un necessary have to provide for themselves if they so desire. Thats why for eg PH airport serves Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom while Calabar serves Akwa Ibom too. It is not viable for FG to build one in Akwa Ibom so they had to build their own.

1. In range of 1-10, 10 being excellent and 1 being poor, the road from Kaduna to Abj is 7 while Minna-Abj is 3 (this means Kaduna rd is easily repairable while Minna will gulp a lot).

2. kad-Abj is completely dual carriage while Minna-Abj is a single carriage (this reduces the risk of accidents and increase free flow of traffic removing bottle necks and hold ups.

3. Kaduna town has a modern transport alternative with the new rail while Minna has none (those passengers who cannot afford to charter taxi or have drivers pick them up have a very decent alternative to abj).

4. Some departures/arrivals especially international flights have passengers with take off/final destination as wide as the entire north west and North east states which would have almost the same or less road travel time than from Minna. Only Nassarawa, Benue and Taraba bound travelers will have increased road travel time from Kaduna as against the entire NW and NE states to or from Minna. It takes 3hrs from Abj to Jos and takes the same 3hrs from Kaduna to Jos. Those going to NE states via Jos from kaduna will have no change in distance, as those going to NW states will have 2hrs off their trips.

5. kaduna already has local flights to lagos by Arik, Aero and Azman while Minna has none.

My own observation is that a brand new additional runway should have been planned for Abj not total closure.

I just wonder, instead of all this wahala, cant the FG build a brand new runway? Why would the airport have only one runway that the whole airport has to be shut for maintenance?

That's how they stopped me at Obiri-Ikwerre flyover (PH) and the guy said..

Police: Wey you! You no sabi salute person?
Me: I no know say you don reach where I dey

Police: oh na so I come small? Good! Thank you, come down
Me: why? I no de come down, what do you want?

Police: lemmi see your papers, (gave it to him)
Police: was is your name?
Me: My drivers license is there.

Police: I no see am before I ask? E belike say you think say we dey joke here. Come down
Me: oga check wetin u wan check, I de go somewhere.

Police: Ok, you sabi talk abi, you go sleep here.
Me: ok, thank you. I left the particulars with him and Zoom off. Called my brother who's a Staff Sergeant in the Army. He sent someone to accompany to get my papers, the police man saw me and started shouting "thief thief, you go die today" the army guy with me just told him "Shut up, you idiot". He was shocked and said amid shaking voice. 'Who are you? Who are you? The officer just said lemme have those papers and I want to see the person incharge here!

The matter was settled and as usual, the statement "anything for the boys"?
I jux leave the mumu there.
I dont drive with original papers in the car. All photocopies and the order is drivers licence first.

If police say, "wei your drivers licence?" i give the bunch of copies. If they say "wei the particulars?" i give the same bunch of papers. Same with FRSC. FRSC will first want to see the drivers licence so as to withhold when they find an offence. As long as they know you have a valid unexpired copy of the licence, they know you will not go down easy as it has to be a serious offence which your car will be impounded.

2. No engine number on vehicle papers:
Most car owners overlook their engine number because it is hard to see on the engine block. Some believe they are the same with the Chassis/VIN number. If police catch you, you will know the truth. These guys know the exact location of the engine number on most cars. It’s better you take the pain to search for it now than fall victim later.

I've fallen victim of this. The guy that registered my vehicle skipped the engine number. Many officers have checked my particulars and never observed it until I ran into some hardened policemen. That evening, all the cars they stopped were my type and model.

To show me where it is, the officer entered bush, cut a stick to scratch the dirt on the engine block. It didn't appear well, he now went into their hilux, cut foam from the passengers seat, (now you know how their vehicles loses value so fast). He then used the foam to clean the engine block and showed me.

He asked for 50k. Said, he'd declare my vehicle stolen and myself as the suspect. I wasn't ready to pay a dime. Eventually we went to the station.

They refused to take the case to the desk, then I realised the case wasn't a big one, they just needed money for that friday night. As night was approaching, I called a friend who lives in the area for moral support.

Long and short, for "wasting/taking" their time, we parted with 6k, 1k for each person on their patrol. I wanted to give 2k, actually but the lead officer now said, "how dem go share am?" My guy now added 4k.

The thing vex me.

Following Monday, I went to court for an affidavit with a police extract to cover it, all for 2k.
The actual reason FRSC and VIO skip the engine no is the trouble it causes when your engine is replaced. The engine no will be different and renders your documents invalid even if you have 11 months on it.

My car engine no is totally hidden from police, it is at the rear of the engine close to the bottom plate (oil sump). It is practically impossible to see it unless you use a lube pit or jack up the car and lie under the engine.

Police man must show it to me before he can claim a fault else i will tell him my car has no engine no. Only the engine model is written in front and its hardly view-able because of the intake manifold. He has to remove my intake manifold to see that.

One Policeman had the guts to ask me when (year) i bought the car, to make it worst he had the change of ownership certificate in his hands among other documents.

I couldn't reply him so i kept quiet till he asked the third time. i was afraid i will say something that will land me in detention. Even the answer i gave him shows i was irritated, i said "I cant remember, check the documents well, it is there". He said "where", i said, "Check well you have the documents". He saw it and said "2013?", i said, "i think so". I was cursing in my heart.
