Ezyp:When I saw the headline, I rushed just to see the profession of the new MD but was disappointed to see a lawyer. The last was an accountant. I just wonder what is happening to the engineering sector. Even in NNPC, other professions are preferred to engineers. Engineers are only needed in the field but never in management. It's high time engineers take this matter up like Medical Doctors did. |
bolseas:I tried to tell him, but no, ignorance is a way of life for these young guys. |
sigiyaya:Are you sure you are any different to that police officer? He was indeed a dumb fellow and am disappointed you two are alike. Because of your post above, I began to wonder how Alaska and Texas became states in the same county United States of America. That country needs to break up too you know! |
mokoshalb:Some of us are almost addicted to NL but getting bored of the front page and new topics. For example, car talk section that thought me all I know on cars is a shadow of itself for having nothing inspiring coming in recently. Any one who just joined or will be joining the section won't get the experience I've had from the section. When someone like Siena who is well followed in the section suddenly deactivates his account, Seun needs to investigate. Even politics seems like a day care center for ten year olds. |
xana101:When this happens, I later realised the site is still accessible from any of its open page that I can reload or from www.nairaland.com |
sigiyaya:Is this ignorance or just being dumb ![]() Do you even know what NDPHC/NIPP is or what it does? If you were asked in an exam right now, what will you write? I was driving a car branded with NDPHC and the registered owner read 'Niger Delta', a police man stopped me in the South south seeing I was from the north asked this silly question, "What business do you have with our Niger Delta car?" Angrily I told him to google it or ask his boss. The level of ignorance in Nigeria at the moment is so so high and even rising with sentiment making it worst. Guy, there is an NDPHC injection substation 5km from my parents house in Kaduna state, maybe we should move Kaduna to Niger delta or Niger delta to Kaduna? Which would you prefer? Maybe the NIPP funds being deducted since 2002 from federal allocation of all States be stopped and refunded for states that are not in the Niger delta!!! Also, let all NDPHC projects out side of Niger delta be moved to Niger delta so you will be happy. |
Buhari is slowly uprooting corruption, James Olotu the former MD is a high calibre thief managing a bunch of thieves and robbers. My eyes saw corruption in NDPHC and the damage is real deap. I wonder if NDPHC would ever regain it's mandate under this guy. I wish him best of luck as he attempts to steer this pirate ship called NDPHC out of trouble waters. Thumbs up Bubu! |
There is this problem i have been experiencing for a while with NL and I have wondered why it has not been resolved. Notice two NL speed dial on my browser, one is www.nairaland.com and the other is www.nairaland.com/home#featured. Sometimes only one works and sometimes both work. Most times the one that doesn't work gives a redirect error message. I wonder why the home screen address changes and I hope one can be adopted.

I like the Kia better. It has more style and maturity. On the pro's and con's, I think they are the same since they are both made by same company. Only company insiders would really know which is better other than user experience. |
Mailthaddeus:Recently, I have seen buildings with claddings but were not plastered prior. It is a total waste of money to plaster a wall then install cladding on it. In the same vein, why do people waste money on rough plaster when the tiles can easily stick to the block wall. In my rented apartment, the kitchen tiles began to fall off the wall, they fell off with the mortar that was used to attach it to the wall still intact. The only reason the tile fell off was because the plaster had low binder/cement and so could not hold anything sticking to it. Why did the landlord waste his money on plaster only for it to become the reason for tiles falling off. If he didn't plaster, I guess the blocks would have held better. I just thought of a way to test this. I will plaster a portion of a block wall then install a tile on the bare block wall and another on the plaster portion. Days later, I will check which needs more effort to remove. Of course, the quality of blocks will affect the tile on bare wall. |
vinzita1:When I saw your post, I tried to check online and found out Honda had class action suits on this issue. A scan and thorough internet search would be of help. |
Bossken:Lightening arrestor is the right name. |
kingdenny:Free all those things you see, man must chop. My friend, an electrical engineer did the job. I had to ask him why 3 copper rods and he confessed to using two. Of course the 40metres was to much but reason the budget shot up. His client wanted to pull a fast one but he pulled another. Even after putting a lot more, the bill wasnt as close to wat the op was charged. |
nas00:Are you aware that newer cars have electric power steering? Don't assume until you are sure. |
Check the receipt as spent on a very big duplex, depending on several conditons, you may not need as much. Notice 40meters of copper tape.
|
youngice:If I understood what you meant correctly, then I would say that's very dangerous. Earthing/grounding systems should have no connections whatsoever to lightening protection system. Its better to have one of the systems and not have the other than to connect them together. |
As far as am concerned, i applaud the Minister and Jamb for taking a firm stand returning things to how they were logically are. How can a candidate write exams twice for one admission. In those days, jamb conducts exams, send the successful list to universities admission board or senate who vets list. They candidates who are chosen by the school are given jamb provisional admission. This was the process then and that is what it has returned to. There is nothing new here while only post utme was removed since it is not backed by any law. |
I created a tread for this problem but there was no response so I brought it here.I posted the above on the general thread. Now my problem is the system does not recognise the phone when connected. I changed the Samsung USB driver with 3 different versions but success. Odin doesn't see it. Secondly, I just noticed imei is different to the one under the battery. Also, model number printed under the battery and in the phone reads SM-J500H but once I enter download mode, I see product name as SM-J700F. J7 has a 5.5inch screen but this phone is a 5.0.

I created a tread for this problem but there was no response so I brought it here. My friend bought this Samsung Galaxy J5 (SM-J500H/DS) obviously foreign used. Really cool phone but came with an issue. Phone gets really hot and excruciatingly slow. Before he handed me the phone for help, he had flashed it. I did factory reset twice each time the phone gets better but slows down as soon as 2-3 apps are installed. Installing Facebook took like 10mins. If I move apps to phone storage from internal storage, the phone seems better. I later noticed a problem with the ram. Ram has 3 parameters; system, Apps and free. The bar which has a colour legend had black for system, green for apps and grey for free which should add up to the total ram. Specs has it that it should be 1500mb. The problem is that the bar does not seem to reflect the true ram usage and even obmiting free memory even as it shows there is free memory. The slowing and freezing are classic signs of inadequate memory. I have download Android marshmallow (Russia) to flash it myself. I have previously flashed my Galaxy S2 so it's fairly straight forward with Odin. My fear is that marshmallow has been released for few countries like Iraq, Nepal, Bangladesh, India and Russia. I am scared of the result. Right now all the usb cables I have around won't connect except one but that one isn't stable so I don't want to use it. I hope gurus in the house can put their 2 cents. The first pic is of the phone and the second a random internet picture for comparison.

JohnKester:Did you notice my second paragraph? I will advise you to forget about using these items on your inverter plans; fridge, A/C, toaster, cooker, heater coil and any laser jet printer. Blender is ok but the printer depends on whether its ink or laser jet. Mind you, if you are using ink jet and would like to use inverter to print, that means you must buy a pure sine wave inverter. Ink jet printers dont work with modified sine wave.I wrote that to take care of the misunderstanding. I want to believe that a man who lives in a 2 bedroom flat and is planning to buy a fridge and A/C should not be spending close to N500k-N1million for a suitable power back up system (kaysy, no offence intended). I live in a 2 bedroom flat but powering my fridge on my inverter is not in my plans even if i can afford it. It will take 4 x 200Ah batteries to power his planned load for 5hrs depending on inverter settings. Remove those uneccessary load and the same battery bank could power the remaining load for 24hrs. |

pattybf:It seems you have good knowledge on the DL issues. My DL will expire January on my birthday, i heard someone say that one must get a driving school cert, it doesnt matter whether its a renewal, reissue or new DL. That made no sense to me. I expect that only people who are applying for the first time need to get a driving cert, if no, that mean that every 3years i need a driving cert to renew drivers licence. I attempted to start renewal process but the site replied "expiry date is more than 30 days".

cjfbn:There are two main bearing oil seals; one is on the flywheel side and the other at the accessory belt pulley side. Depending on which is leaking, the oil seal at the pulley side is easy to replace without removing the engine whether mounted transversely or longitudinally. The flywheel oil seal is easier replaced on a longitudinally mounted engine (by working underneath) than a transversely mounted engine like yours. Essentially, the transmission has to be removed on an transversly mounted engine, but a longitudinal engine has space to remove the transmission without removing the engine although working undeath a car is not convenient. The transverse engine has no such space to work with both engine a transmission in the engine bay. One or both has to go out for space. It is usually convenient/faster for mechanics to remove both engine and trans at the same time. |
This is nothing new. Infact, there is a common saying in my area, "if any catholic female gets pregnant out of wedlock and refuses to point the father, a priest is definitely involved." |
Firefire:If you are more sincere, you will know that padding of the budget is not a new thing. They have been doing it since 1999 and has became a tradition for the National assembly to pad the budget. That is their source of money and influence. However, the tradition is actually forgery and illegal especially in this change regime. So every thing bad about this budget was exposed by the president on his part and the members of the HoR. I see it as a change from the padding tradition and welcome it. |
The pic looks very old |
Miranda11:My view then was, subsidy is not a bad thing at all, the corruption in it made it bad. GEJ's govt could not be trusted with more money since they had more than enough. They inherited a moderate forex reserve, had the highest forex income in the history of Nigeria yet was enough that they depleted reserves instead of saving. They also lacked any will to stage a reasonable fight on corruption. N291b was already over bloated as subsidy, N2trillion was just insanely corrupt. My own opinion then was, if they took so much as subsidy, i should atleast take at least N50/litre of PMS. It meant we are sharing the loot, however, i was been heavily cheated. I was going to have them remove subsidy them loot it without me having a piece of the pie. Now, we dont have high income, reverse are down more than ever and even if looting will happen how, it is not as outrageous as it was so i can endure its removal. |
mybad:Big for nothing is notorious for this. All that i have seen have the speaker cover broken to pieces. I will advice you find an alternative since most will suffer the same fate. Saw a fabric cloth to cover it. |
I was at Kafanchan yesterday, headquarters of Jema'a local govt. All afternoon till evening, police trucks were bringing dead bodies from the Ninte Village. This is the second deadly attack on that Village this year. The first one was anticipated and villagers abandoned their homes while only few people who were visitors were caught unawares and killed. Their houses were burnt. People only returned to farm their farmlands still under threats by the fulani before this latest attack that cought them unawares. The President's silence and inactions is just too much to bear. It beats my imagination how govt keep pretending as if nothing is happening. We use to have fulani's living amidst us but most have left for fear of repraisal attacks. No community is welcoming any fulani right now. I wonder when the ethnic cleansing will end. One thing am sure is that the fulani will never ever be welcomed. I had a fulani friend who is educated who i used to help when he was a Maritime Academy. He stopped calling me when the attacks became rampant and cant bear to call him. I guess, they dont know the damage they have done to themselves forever. This is not precivilization were wars are won and lost. There is no winning for them no matter how many people they kill. Civilisation is definitely leaving them behind. |
Mailthaddeus:Footings that are below ground level must not always have formworks. The use of earth cuts as form is always acceptable. I have had extensive experience with pad footings of up to 10x10m at depths of up to 4m below ground level for transmission line towers. Its even more complicated to excavate working area for formwork for such pad footing. The undisturbed earth cut serving as formwork has the added advantage of resisting passive lateral resistance. If working area has to be excavated for form work, back filling has to be properly carried out with laterite and compacted to its Max dry density. The only additional requirement is adding 25mm to standard concrete cover where the concrete shall be placed directly against the soil. |
9jatatafo:You are right, i believe the worst that will happen is Dogara and the principal officers resign or be impeached and the matter is swept under the carpet from there. |

Nigeria is not 0.ne and can never be. Soon and i mean very soon you and ur people will understand this
