johnson232:There is no way to avoid casting concrete which is called the roof beam. Whether casting insitu fascia or no fascia at all, roof beam is absolutely important. That is what the rafters are tied on and it evenly distributes the entire roof's upward (lift) and downward (weight) forces. The weight of cast insitu fascia is very significant and introduces a torsional force on the roof beam and likewise load carrying walls. It will be dangerous if that wall or roof beam is not strong enough to withstand the overhang weight of the facial. I have seen a failed in situ fascia aka parapet. |
For those who know Hausa but i will translate. My then little cousin came visiting in my house, she mostly spoke in English. After eating lunch with her and my sisters, we all had too much to eat and i said in Hausa, "Na Koshi" meaning i am full. My sisters said same too. This little cousin of mine repeated same words. Then a thought crossed my mind that if this girl speaks only in English, does she know what she just repeated after us? So i asked her a question. Bethel, how will you say "Na koshi" in English. With her finger on the head like she was thinking she replied "emmmmmmmmmmmm Eat koshi". Come and see laughter. |
EgunMogaji:I see. |
EgunMogaji:Did you grow up in Ibadan? You sure sound like CityNG? This will be my second pointless argument with you this time around on your third moniker. Exactly the same argumentative methods and the same language. If your identity is blown this time, would you deactivate this moniker like you did the 2 other ones i knew you. So EgunMogaji abi na CityNG abi na Samarin, your language sells you out no matter how you change your moniker. Bring the next one and it wont change who you are.You have been stereotyped and i can smell you like fish from far away. |
EgunMogaji:Exactly like d other guy but i know it isnt he. Another one. What do you have, superiority complex? It seemed so. |
EgunMogaji:What you call a "shyteshack" is home to someone. Another person may not be able to afford that shyteshack. It doesnt make that person less hardworking or less qualified. If you dont see that, you are best left on your own. |
Long time ago, my Dad's cousin died in an industrial accident and left his young wife and 2 daughters. 2nd was still suckling and the mother wasnt working. My Dad adopted the first while i was away in the Uni. It took another 2 months before i came home. She was ancious to see me, and when she saw me, she was shocked that i was grown and huge since am a heavy guy. She tapped my mum and whispered into her ears, "Is this the David (not real name)?" mum said yes and she asked again "where is his wife?". My mum burst into laughter asking her why did she thought i was married, she said "he is big, he must have a wife". That day, she never left my side till she slept in my arms. She didnt believe my mum until she asked me directly. Now she is in the Uni, very quiet and you wont believe she is the same small girl. |
EgunMogaji:If i were to build a house with N2m, for my taste, it wont be a 4 bedroom bungalow. However, my choice in quality may be higher to another person's who may consider a 4 bedroom bungalow. In fact, another person with a large family may build a room and palour compound that can house say 4 wives like the Moslems do. With N2m, an entire family of 20 can be done. It all depends on quality. Its a choice me and you may not take but another may go for worst even and proud of it. The funny thing is you compare a country where less than 15% live below poverty to a country where above 60% live below the poverty line. If you think am flipping sentiments then you must be out of touch with facts and reality. If you live where poverty is rare, we live in Nigeria where poverty is common and comparison is unrealistic. You cant continue to hold your head high pretending poverty is a choice or a sentiment flaunted at you, face reality, it isnt. You made me remember a fracas i had with my former Romanian boss. He accused me of duping the company for buying a chinese made car spare part for 12k that broke down 2 months after saying the original cost equivalent of 8k in their country. I had, just days ago seen the exact original brand name he mentioned in Konga. I showed it to him and the price tag was 50k! The same part he claimed was 8k in Romania was 50k in Nigeria, he apologised. I told him to stop comparing unless he goes into the Nigerian spare part market himself, then he is free to do that. I dont now who you are since this is a faceless and nameless forum, but you really sound like someone who has no idea what poverty actually is. What is anti US sentiment? If you are poor you are poor and if you are rich you are. Its no sentiment. If you can admit to lacking Nigerian visibility, how are you sure a N2m 4 bedroom bungalow doesnt exist? Like saying you have no idea but its impossible, how will you know? You want pictures, am i a contractor. Even if i am, is it every conceivable budget and quality i handled? I wonder why you are just being unrealistic. Last time i argued with someone with same attitude on NL on an issue just like this one in cartalk, he was also a Nigerian living in the US. There is something common to you guys, sure its no sentiment. He was admiring another Nigerian living in the UK for his mastery of polite words and languge. He was wondering why his comments often become spiteful just like yours. He was wondering why he was as knowledgeable and experienced like the UK guy but not respected in same measure. Lets do something. Am sure N2m will be nothing to you, send me the amount and i shall send you pictures of my 4 bedroom bungalow with plans and reciepts of cost. I am sure i will be proud of it and gratefull to you. |
EgunMogaji:You cant be comparing a index finger to the thumb! Its pointless to argue with you. If you have not seen it in the US, fine. I have never been there. I live in Nigeria and lived both in the north and the south and have seen so many. Call it a shack, they are proud to have a home that more than 50% of Nigerians wont ever own in their entire life. A N2m 4 bedroom bungalow is around average in Nigeria. May be you are out of touch with the Nigerian reality for citing American examples. |
EgunMogaji:On topic, fingers are not all equal. What you may not be proud of another may see as a dream come true. Very little number of Nigerians say 20% can afford a N2m house so the rest will be proud to have one. The most expensive parts of the average Nigerian building are roof, tiling and fencing. If you limit on those and limit number of bathroom and size of entire house, N2m is a good amount to help a Nigerian stop paying rent. |
mufutau55:I read from were the N2m issue started, i understand the jokes and the fights too. |
mufutau55:Yea, i know that espcially for you but not EgunMogaji and his partner who seem to be worked up about it. |
My second son who is 1+ and just learning to call names. My younger sister always plays with him hitting his bumbum and saying "see your bumbum". He will also do same but she will run. Its their play thing. One day my wife wanted to test his speech so she called out familiar names while he repeated after her in his funny toddlers speech. She called 7 names already and he called back the same name like this: Grand ma - Gan ma Grand pa - Gan pa Alheri - Ayeyi Azumi - Aumi Sarah - eya Mummy - meme Daddy - dada The next one threw us into hilarious laughter Aunty Rejoice - see your bumbum! |
brabus:I thought he was asking how much more on top of N2m will he require to have those quality of materials in the building. Am sure he was just being sarcastic. |
mufutau55:You cant eat your cake and have it. You cant dictate cost and quality at the same time. One has to give. If you must build a N2million house, you must give in to quality. If you must build a house with best quality you must give in to cost. |
danny34:Skirting you mean to say. |

Jomesh20:That boy is hilarious! |
I was washing my car because of the muddy road i entered. The car was seriously dirty with mud everywhere. My son came, "Daddy, you are washing your car?" I said yes. He said, "Daddy, dont enter poto-poto again ko!". I say ok! Later, i was going out, he said "Daddy, you want to go and enter poto-poto again, i will not help u wash". |
ukata16:You will have to lose that small console below your 1 din radio. Once removed the space you have is exactly 2 din. You dont need more or less harness unless you are installing a subwoofer, power aerial antenna or reverse camera which your car doesnt have by default. Usually, most cars provide harness for battery, ignition, ground antenna, and speakers (4 pairs or 5 with subwoofer). Some cars provide harness for dimmer and phone intergraton. |
I think its your choice. Cost will be a major factor. 2 din will definitey be more expensive. You have option of getting a touch screen 2 din radio with alot of other functions and alot more expensive.

My mum was hospitalised. I was at the hospital when my mum asked me to call my wife, she would like to talk to her grand children. My wife answered while the phone was on speakerphone, after exchange of pleasantries she passed to my first son. They exchanged pleasantries and then i and my mum could hear my wife tell my son "ask grandma how is her health" he replied her "i dont know". |
Siena:Wow! That will buy a brand new Kia Rio. |
I watched it. I wasnt happy that they were not able to ask Metuh some simple questions that i expected to knock him out of balance. I wanted to give him this analogy. Imagine Nigeria a building project, Nigerians the client while contractor was the PDP. Because the building had cracks early in the superstructure Nigerians decided to change contractor. Now APC came in with the mandate to correct all mistakes made by PDP. Unfortunately, Nigeria just like a building project, mistakes on the building are not easily corrected unless the foundation is corrected. That was what Metuh i believe understands but will never recognise. He wants APC to continue building upper floors of the building Nigeria so that when the whole building collapses on the foundation they (PDP) built, they would lay blame on the government in power. No new contractor takes up a bad job and continue like there were no problems, the foundation must be upgraded before anything. I wish i had the opportunity to sound that analogy in Metuh's ears since he sees no reason Buhari should have waited on ministerial appointments. |
Both cars seem to have a broken lower ball joint. Most cases i have seen seem to come from this joint. My kazeem mechanic told me that i can always buy substandard suspension parts to manage but should never buy lower ball joint that i cannot confirmed to be oem aka follow come. |
I think there is a drain pipe for water running down from the sunroof. It may get blocked by dirt, debri, leaves etc |
donshaddow:I go above but certainly not 40psi Front i usually have 32-35psi as acceptable range while back is 30-32psi. Most times when i guage tires, i would have dtiven so as expected pressure increases with higher temp. So when i guage 35psi i expect that when cold as recommended will be close to recommended. Manufacturers recommendation or less than that the tire looks under deflated for my liking and a little effect i feel on the steering while on high speeds especially while making corners. |
2003 Honda Accord LX- because i sometimes carry passengers without planning to, i averagely inflate my tires at 35psi. I had a serious arguement with a manager of a service bay in a popular filling station in Abj. This guy was too full of himself. Though their wheel balancing and alignment is usually good but they insist on inflating tire to 40psi. One time i insisted he does as i instructed but the guy told me "you dont know anything". I had to show him what was written on the door and tire (inflate to 40psi max which had a corresponding maximum weight). The guy saw that as a justification for what they do. I told him max stands for maximum, and cars have different weight and pressure specifications so the warning on the tire means if a car specifies above 40psi, this tire is not suitable for the car. The man wont have anything i said and wont budge after insisting that he should treat my property as ordered. He went ahead without my consent to inflate to 40. I told him he wasted his energy as i would stop by their gate were a road side vulcanizer is to deflate to what i want and he cant stop me. I prefer roadside mechanics to the high end so called mechanics that always take me for a fool even when i know they are lounging in ignorance. Roadside mechanics do as ordered with no questions asked but those ones manning expensive equipment think the know all.

cyberdurable:This is the part i find very amusing. |
