I have had plans on so many ocassions to buy a car from Nairaland but never found a good one at the right price and time. Am still searching. Family and friends have warned me not to buy from nairaland due to 2 issues; fraudsters and stolen vehicles. I was of the opinion that to absolve myself from prosecution for receiving stolen property, i will ask my seller to join me with the car to a police station where we will demand for a police report and thereafter go to court for change of ownership registration. With that, i believe, i the buyer may be free from prosecution. Ofcourse, police report is a little issue as they may make you pay through your nose. The court i believe charge as little as N200 (in the north o). An option is for the buyer and seller to take the car to any FRSC office to confirm if its not stolen. All these should be carried out b4 money is transfered to the seller. It also means the seller must be willing to leave his business to do that. If the car was bought from a registered auto dealer, then a reciept or an invoice should protect the buyer from prosecution if car is later discovered to be stolen. The auto dealer should be responsible but the Nigerian security system will be so quick to lock you up even with a reciept from the company. Someone with better experience can tell us if my opinion will work or better ways for us buyers to protect ourselves from the police. On instances like this, the police are known for locking up everybody that has his name mentioned. |
Am interested. Send better pictures of front view, engine bay, left and right sides of the of the car to adanny01@yahoo.com. Afterwards i will call you. |

I have finally been able to upgrade my samsung s2 to Jelly bean through Kies air. I was hopping to immediately download BBM but a new problem sufficed. I signed in to Samsung account but on getting to Samsung apps store it was asking me to sign in. Before i could start typing a pop up came that samsung account update. I selected yes and the updating samsung account completed with no difference whatsoever. I have updated morethan 20 times since but no difference. I registered another account but faced the same issue. I am pissed of as the pop up comes up on anything relating to samsung account. I need assistance please, i came too far to give up now.

I had two accidents. In the 1st i was hit by a really drunk driver while i was also drunk. Night was setting in as i was rushing to pick up something for my sister's wedding. I was overtaking a vehicle at speed of about 80km/h when a parked vehicle by the side walk suddenly entered the road without caution. It would have been a head on collision, i swerved but we kissed fenders. He didnt stop. Something funny happened after i stopped. I was pressed, so i had to take a leak, so were all my friends. We leaked all the palm wine we took before inspecting the damage and asking other motorist to give the guy a chase which they refused. Coincidentally, me and the runaway drunk driver met at the panel beater's shop the next morning. He had, after hitting me, hit a Colonel's car and was caught. He confessed to hitting another car which resembles my hit with the paint of his car on mine another give away. He paid all our bills and had to buy a tyre for the Colonel. My second, i hit a cow while i was driving to the mechanics to repair my failed brakes. |
knowledge4: It is madness for anyone to be driving above 80 kms per hour.Do an experiment for me. Go to Lokoja - Abuja road and drive at 80km/h. You will become an obstruction just like the trucks plying the road. You stand a risk of being hit from behind. You will be over taken from the left and right. You will be cursed at. Better still find a road that has a history of terrorising armed robbery then run at 80km/h. You could sleep while driving all day at 80km/h. It is boring at that speed so the tendancy to sleep is higher. Thats the reason why truckers are drug addicts and donot match their brakes for smaller cars coz they are jealous if you. Dont forget to come back and tell us your story. |
Dis Guy: why not place four 'best' tyres ALL the timeIf i can afford to change all my tyres at once, i will. Front tyres wear faster than rear tyres. It is natural that you will need to swap the tyres at a point. Some will have had puctures or worn unevenly because of allignment issues and other reasons. When swapping, you place the best tyre among the lot at the front driver's side. Also if u are buying 2 tyres they must be in the front. I never buy 1 tyre. Its 2 or 4. |
What pains me most is that her oga @ the top will turn a deaf ear and pretend like non of his appointees are corrupt. It is because of his tolerance for corruption that i will definately not vote for him come 2015. He should be seen as intolerant of corrupt government officials. |
capsogiga: @ikenna351I have had this pulsating problem for a while on my Toyota Prado 2006. Mechanics had no idea on how to solve it even though the car has no ABS. I later solved my problem myself though it has resurface again and i know how to make it go away. In the quoted statement, you mentioned a scarred disc. What scarred it? The only thing that scars a disc is the brake pad and only when the pad is not good or exhousted. In my case the pad was exhausted in it scarred the disc. The heat produced during scarring (metal to metal contact) warps the disc. See in pic attached the cause of pulsating of my brake. The scarring on one side of the disc is wider than the other. Immediately i changed that disc, pulsating disappeared. The pulsating returned after the brake pad got exhausted again and scarred the new disc. In my case the main problem is what causes the brake pad of just that wheel to wear out 3 times as fast as the other rear wheel. I always replace pad on this left rear wheel 3 times before the right rear wheel pad needs changed. My advise to you, change that scarred disc immediately. Apart from the fact that it may be the source of your pulsating problem, it will wear out your brake pad rapidly and unevenly.

Thats why i place my very best tyre in the front driver's side. If that one gets blown on high speed with an opposite approaching car, it will drag you towards the left lane in the path approacing car. You may not be able to control the car in a straight direction. If you forcefully veer right, a spin or somersoult is eminent. If the appraoch driver is not vigilant, a collision is eminent. Always make sure the driver's side front tyre is in perfect condition. I prefer to veer to the bush than to an appraching car on any speed. A blown tyre is worst on an SUV or truck. My friend was lucky to have climbed the median when his front driver's side tyre blew out on his Toyota Tacoma. |
obongtunji: I had similar experience 3 times, but turst me i didn't fall for any, let me tell you how the last one happened in Abuja. I came out of the car as soon as I stopped my car, the attendant asked me "Oga how much fuel" I told him full tank, after resetting the pump he was actually pumping the fuel but gently because he didn't press the nozzle very well, so it was dispensing very slowly, I knew he was up to something before you know it another woman came to ask if I wanted injector cleaner and I told her no but she engaged me in irrelevant stories, after the guy dispensed #100, he removed the nozzle and placed it back to the pump claiming they changed the power source from generator to phcn, I saw it clearly that it was #100. After resetting the pump he later dispensed #4000 fuel he now said including the first one which was #1000, that was where I started shouting on him and told him I was aware of all his tricks, he couldn't say a word, his colleague in crime started begging me to pay what I said he dispensed, but I made sure I talked sense into their heads. Please guys you should watch out when you want to buy fuel........lopThis same thing happened to me in a total filling station in Kaduna just last week. The female attendant reset the pump after dispensing N56.70k saying the pump has frozen and refused to pump that she had to reset. She later pumped N2430 which i asked why she stopped, she said she pumped N567 before. I started protesting but stopped after i realised what she did. I told her plain and direct that my N500 will not change her status and will be the cause of her remain poverty. I zoom off. Exactly a week later another, in another Total station in the same Kaduna, another attendant tried it but i caught him red handed. As he walked back to reset, i called him and said 'notice o, u dispenced N89.90k'. After dispensing N2000 he tried to confirm from me whether i was sure it was N89.90k not N899.00k. I told him he is stopping at N2900. That was the third time that was done on me and all on different Total filling stations around Kaduna. I swore never to enter a total station again. |

floridam: My Mazda tribute overheats and discharges or drains water through the reservoir discharge hose. This happens just 10 mins after the car is started. I noticed this when I had a leaking radiator and asked an 'Agbede' to fix it.Change your radiator cap. Make sure you are replacing with the original replacement part and the exact type. They old and the new must be physically the same. It is advisable to buy belgium (used) cap if you are not sure the new one is original. There are too many fake new caps in the market. |
Sorry for late reply, i was on transit cos i traveled up north. I can only afford 800k and not more. Thats the cap to my budget. |
chemvic: @adanny01....thank goodness the overheating issue is resolved. I just noticed that the a reduction in my radiator water as well. Its a 50-50 mixture of water and coolant, i have been using the car for over 4months now without any complain. I also observed the radiator isn't leaking. Pls could it be that i need to change the radiator cap to resolve loss of content? My radiator cap has 88kpa written as the pressure spec. Please advise appropriately....Diagnosing water shortage and overheating is a very tricky thing to do. Even a mechanic may not be exact with the problem. You, the user, is in the best position to diagnose the problem but you have to know the exact behavior. Let me itemize some checks for you to do. 1. Does the car temperature go beyond normal? 2. Does the overheating show on the temperature gauge? 3. When it overheats, where does water escape from (you have to find that when the car actually overheats)? 4. Do you still have the thermostat installed? 5. Does your cooling fan work? 6. Check your engine oil dip stick for traces of water. 7. How long a drive do you take before water shorts, that is, is the shortage rapid in a short period or slow over a long period? 8. what quantity of water do you add, lets say every 2days? There are still a lot of questions. You have to observe and describe every tiny detail. Water will only be short in these areas, radiator cap, pipes, head gasket, water pump, radiator and lastly the reserve tank overflow pipe. When doing trial and error, start with the cheapest solution like the radiator cap which in my case was N300. I bought a used (Belgium) not the new substandard ones around. |
solomon111: Who cares if you are anti-GEJ?The problem is that Jonathan is losing those who voted him in 2011 and he is becoming more unpopular. In 2015 he will get far less support than he got in 2011. He should hope it will not be far enough to deny him a win. |
Your account sounds like mine, only differed by your reason to vote for Jonathan in 2011. There were two candidates with prospects at that election, Jonathan and Buhari. As a Christian Northerner from a minority tribe, the battle line was drawn along religious lines with PDP on the Christian side and CPC on the Muslim side. I liked the man Buhari and had the fantacy of him setting Nigeria back to order using his desciplinerian principles. I fell out on him after comments attributed to him circulated and his romance with Islamic fanatics. I found no place in his team of supporters as nearly all of them are Muslims. Goodluck was our hero for picking Namadi as his deputy, giving my part of the state an opportunity of occupying the apex position of the governor which in the entire long history of the state had never happened. It was what we long longed for and Goodluck was our hero. By 2011, our own had the opportunity of becoming an elected Governor using the power of incumbency. The battle line was drawn as Muslims massively decamped to CPC because they were not going to vote for a Christian coming from the south of the state. By now, it was an all Muslim versus Christian election. The rest of us that were on the fence had to pitch tent with Jonathan as a Christian candidate. With all the increased impunity, corruption and our own dear Governor long dead, i am now a voter free for grasp by any candidate other than Jonathan. |
