@denex,

The best way to handle Seun is to ignore him and pretend as if the ban never took place as that will hurt him more than it will please him. Sometimes, I feel he is only craving for attention.

I hope I get banned for life on this forum because it makes me sick to see him allow people post trash here and when you challenge some of them he bans you based on his limited knowledge of the subject matter.

A lot of good posters have left this forum, thanks to his recklessness.

@topic,

It seems we like diverting issues here.

It is sad that people died and it is indeed bad for any innocent person to die.

Now, can we compare the coverage of these deaths (4, 6 abi na cool to what happens in Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan every day?

Or, is it ok for people to die in their tens or even hundreds as long as they are non americans or israelites?

This is the issue being raised, enough of the diversion.

McKren:
There is more to this than dressing decent oh, some ladies where arrested for putting on trousers while some guys were arrested for braiding their hair.

Now is there anything indecent about that, I honestly think I don't want to live in a country where some Government official sits in his office to pontificate on what my wife should or should not wear.
It is wrong for a woman to be arrested for wearing trousers (assuming that is the reason for arresting them).

But I disagree with you that the government does not have a say as regards what your wife wears especially when she is outside the house.

McKren:
This is one of those times one can not help but immagine how hopeless this country is.
Nigeria is not hopeless, a Brazilian was killed in cold blood in London for not being too white. Does that make Britain useless?

Abeg, stick to the problems and mistakes but don't tell us that Nigeria is useless.

Cool website.

1. A lot of people will want to have an idea of what your pricing looks like even if you are not going to be specific.

2. You need to reduce the number of times you reference the name of the website because it is about your clients not your company. Put differently, the site must content all the necessary information that makes sense to the client before considering what the company likes.

Other than these 2 issues you've got my vote on this. Simplicity is key even though a lot of web designers think otherwise.

The Police commissioner in Lagos state do not take instructions from Fashola so fashola cannot issue such instructions.

While I am against the arrests of some innocent ones in this issue I must state that the way some women dress these days is very very bad. It seems the only thing that they have decided not to showcase is the nipple as over 3/4 of the breasts are sometimes gladly fed to peoples eyes everyday.

Based on decency, everything should be done to correct this, but based on religion, NO as that may amount to forcing everyone to abide by a particular religion.

Why inverter backup systems fail
By Afam Nnaji

IT is no longer news that people have wasted money on inverter backup solutions that never delivered on their promises. What is shocking however is that the average person buying into this backup system doesn't bother to know how these things work, they just trust completely what service providers say. Inverter based backup systems provide power supply when regular power fails by converting the DC in batteries to usable AC that powers appliances in the home or office. The batteries (or battery banks) are charged using battery chargers (may be in-built or dedicated chargers) utilising regular power or generators.

Without going into any technical jargons, it then means that for an inverter based backup system to perform properly the inverter must work well, the battery charger must work well, the batteries themselves must be of good quality (deep cycle capability preferable), the service provider must be honest with his/her recommendations while the client must be honest with the loads (appliances) that will be connected to the backup system.

In reality, these conditions must be met for the whole package to work well, failure of one or more of these conditions will ultimately lead to a failed backup project, wasted money, disappointed client and sad experience. What I have found out from many discussions from people that have implemented failed or disappointing inverter backup systems in the past is that from the onset the service provider tells the client what he/she wants to hear as that is the fastest way to guarantee payment especially when over-rated promises are made just before implementing the backup system.

Another common problem is that the client will sometimes provide a list of appliances that may double or triple in the actual system just to make the loads appear smaller (as many assume that everything can just scale without problems). Without needing the services of a magician this is one sure route to shorter backup time as the backup time increases with lesser loads or for well planned systems. How can a client decide on what to believe? The best route is for the client to insist on having contacts that he/she can call to find out how reliable previous installations done by the service provider are. Be careful not to be given numbers of colleagues or friends here. Reliable inverter backup solutions exist even with the many bad stories here and there, all that is needed is for the prospective client to ask many questions (don't get tired of asking, it is your money).

On the part of the service provider, understanding the technology or topology of different inverters or online UPS is critically important as failure to understand these things will only leave one at the mercy of the inverter manufacturer, charger manufacturer (if the inverter does not come with an integrated charger) and battery manufacturer. A badly setup battery charger can fry a battery in no time just as sub-standard batteries can become pretty useless in a few months as against years.

I have been using an inverter backup system for close to three years in my office (without any generator, not even a standby one) and I have been on inverter backup in my home (even though I have a small 950VA generator that I use once in say one week or two weeks in some cases) for at least 13 months. So, every single entity in this whole business must be honest, from the client, the service provider to the manufacturers of the different components that make up a working backup system. Unless you are generating your own electricity using solar panels/modules or small wind turbines the most cost effective alternative today to power failures remain well-planned inverter backup systems.

No innocent person deserves to die in any part of the world.

That stated do we also realize that lots of people died when Israel was bombing bridges in Lebanon last year and the majority of the casualties were civilians who were innocent?

Or the uncountable number of people that have died in Iraq since the illegal invasion of that country some years ago?

Or, are some lives more precious than others?

4 abi 6 or is it 8 people died in this unfortunate incident and the coverage is overwhelming but in Iraq today people die in tens if not hundreds every day.

God created all men equal and we should not regard some people more than others since we cannot create lives (well, people don dey clone sha).

Double standard is the best word to describe the US, no country beats it in this regard and no country will for a long time to come.

15 out of the 18 alleged 911 attackers were from Saudi Arabia.

Unfortunately, blind support makes nonsense of these very obvious facts in the world today.
WebmastersRe: Cost Of Building A Website For A Record Label by Afam(m): 3:48pm On Aug 03, 2007
And who needs a personal website that combines the functionalities of a blog and a photo gallery?

Script plus installation will cost you N10,000.00 on any web hosting server you want to host your website as long as the server supports PHP and Mysql. So, web hosting package of N3,000.00 sef can work if you have faith in them, our hosting package for dynamic websites starts from N42,000.00 per year as we do not compromise on reliability.

The Powered by Just Web Services link (in the footer section) must remain, that is the only condition for the offer. For those that want to get rid of the link a N5,000.00 link removal fee will apply.

A typical personal website will be like www.afamnnaji.com but is fully managed and customizable by the user.

The idea behind this is to enable any Nigerian to afford a personal website updating any part of the website is easy, no programming or html skills required.

The turnkey business website will be ready before the end of next week.

Web developers can get the scripts if they are interested anyway.

I did state once that the views of Nigerians living outside Nigeria is less important compared to the views of Nigerians living in Nigeria because those within know what goes on here first hand.

All we ask for is objectivity and honesty in criticisms. No one can absolve the government of the day of any wrong doings but comments and discussions shold not include fabricated and manufactured allegations.

Why do people expect to judge Nigeria by the highest of standards even when the countries they reside in cannot even meet up with reasonable standards?

Things are not perfect here but things are certainly getting better.

It is also important for us to know that amongst those that will always say negative things about Nigeria and Nigerians are 419ners, corrupt officials and other get rich quick people that have woken up to a whole new way of doing things.

No nation was developed by foreigners just as no nation has won the world cup under a foreign coach.

@tundewoods,

Well, thanks for pointing out the issue of hits on a website, that is one area that successful websites don't waste their time on because you can have 1 millions hits to your website every day without anyone buying from you whereas I can have just 20 in any given day with 3 or 4 buying from me.

What's the difference? You don't make money but I do.

I get nothing less than 4 - 8 calls a day from people to provide services to them, they all get to know about the websites online and on the average about half of them become clients.

I will give you a typical example today, someone called and said she wanted an inverter for the house and after doing all the necessary calculations I told her the cost which she agreed to. Then I told her that she needs to change all her bulbs to energy saving type and she told me that she had already done so after reading up the advice on the website some time ago, that she is only interested now in paying and having the system installed this week.

That is what useful websites do, they help solve problems.

My comments are in good faith and that you have chosen to see it as a challenge to your own skills is rather unfortunate but be informed that I never compare myself to others as we are all unique in our own different ways.

Good luck with your venture but don't rely too much on hits as they are mere stats.

Focus on developing applications that make sense to the customer. Your site must be task focused.

NB: If it takes me less than 1 week to develop a web application from scratch I don't think I should feel bad about that anyway, its all about steady improvement while being bold enough to accept the things I know and the things I don't know. Humility is key.

Little wonder the writer supports the killing of innocent people all over the middle east as long as the US or Israel is doing the killing.

One thing is certain, the US will go to any extent possible to defend their freedom and national interests. This is trus of most nations except that the US in most cases tend to desire to do things by the book. The location of the bases have not been finalised but it appears there will be one in the north, south, east and west of Africa.
@topic,

And why would a country believe it has the right to station military bases in the north, south, east and West of Africa all in the name of protecting its freedom and national interests?

This is a simple question and the answer to this question will ultimately reveal the root causes of some of the problems in the world today.

Why did the US move from a country that a lot of nations sympathized with at the wake of 911 to a country that is increasingly being isolated and hated due to its handling of affairs after 911?

Invading a sovereign nation based on lies and turning Iraq into a nation where people die on daily basis from suicide bombing is not a way of protecting one's interest and freedom.

Can we in all sincerity separate the facts from the fiction for the benefit of mankind?
