PTH:Boy, you don finish your exams? Face your studies and stop using multiple user IDs on a discussion forum. The statement in bold is understandable considering the fact that you hardly understand anything on this forum (I just hope Seun wasn't too mean to have banned you because of the high level of olodoness you were displaying here). Learn to tolerate other people's opinions even if you don't agree with them, it makes you a better person. Enjoy! |
Racism, Tribalism, Sectarianism Section? Hmmm. Laudate, if that section scores high on your stats then it means that you may have embarked on a bad journey as regards hatred. I go dey pray for you small small make God touch your heart. |
@Babeelove, No wahala. Pardon my somewhat harsh response too. I feel sad to see that a nation that has the type of potential we have to be great is busy focusing and expending energy on things that don't matter. Hopefully we shall get there, Nigeria will surely get better only if we believe and work towards a better Nigeria even in our own little ways. @laudate, You still dey hate? E no dey pay. Love thy neighbor before hate destroys you. |
I agree with you. Henceforth, the likes of batu, laudate, dimka (never bothered to reply this one anyway as he seems to be a regular mad man) and Ono (unless he has completely gotten rid of the hatred he openly displayed) will not get any responses to their hate filled nonsense. |
BABEELOVE:It pays to take time to read and understand something before jumping into conclusions. Where the hell did the following come from - Nigerians in Nigeria Vs Nigerians in the diaspora? What has the article got to do with Nigerians abroad or must you turn everything into we vs them debate. Well, while you are busy misunderstanding a clear article I must thank you for the advice, I never knew Seun now has a deputy on Nairaland. NB: Your position that this type of thread will only serve as a divisive tool here in a way goes to show that you indeed believe that the article does reflect the reality (a general thing with Nigerians) but in your wisdom you would prefer we don't go there, instead let us continue with the present style which is anti progressive just because it suits you? Is that the bottom line? |
http://www.justwebservices.com/myblog/blog_view.php?myview_id=25 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Why it may take eternity for Nigeria to move forward This is not a prophesy. It is not a statement from someone that has lost hope in Nigeria, rather it is coming from a die hard optimist about the greatness of this country Nigeria. But in being optimistic one must not forget to be realistic. Nigeria is indeed blessed with abundant natural and human resources even though it is sad to note that we have not been able to use these resources to transform Nigeria into a country where every Nigerian will be proud to associate with. From power supply to the state of our roads the story is the same, so much decay even in the midst of plenty. It is easy and more convenient to blame the government but in reality is the government the building or structure we see everyday or is the government made up of people? The issue of blaming the government for everything is becoming rather too convenient and in my opinion overrated. How many Nigerians have the courage to accept their mistakes when they make them? Even with hard evidence and proof you will need a miracle to see the average Nigerian agree that indeed he has goofed. Rather, energies will be expended on diverting the issue (as owning up to the mistake is certainly out of the question) and when he is not getting his way with the diversion he/she goes personal and begins to attack your person. Now I ask, is it wrong or criminal for one to make a mistake? If it is not, then why do we prefer to go through the very difficult task of justifying our mistakes rather than acknowledging them even if we do not want to correct them? Now, the people in government are Nigerians, friends, sons, daughters, fathers, husbands etc but they are still Nigerians. How do they take decisions concerning Nigeria? How do they arrive at conclusions on what ought to be and what ought not to be? Would it be possible that a simple task of agreeing to a mistake could be responsible for the state of that road that is decaying by the day? Could it be that the person truly believes that everything is fine with Nigerians when in reality things are not? Could it be that these people in power simply surround themselves with people that will tell them what they want to hear as against what they should hear? I refuse to believe that someone will see white and call it black for no reason. Is there a good reason why as a people we will rather dwell on falsehood, lies, misinformation than dwell on facts and truth? While I will remain a die hard optimist for the future of this great nation I cannot but go to bed everyday wondering why our people find it hard to accept responsibilities of their actions especially when they make mistakes. The irony of it all is that those who are guilty will always be the ones accusing others of the very mistakes they are denying. As for the led, what do we do? Criticize our leaders based on wrong actions while appreciating their good works or praise them when they do the wrong things and abuse or dismiss anyone that points out mistakes or issues just because the people in question are our friends, colleagues, relations etc? Even though the later is the norm today I will rather die an unrepentant optimist than join this bandwagon that is headed nowhere…. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ |
PTH (formerly Davidylan), Please, learn to state things the way they are. Don't tell a lie about something and when you are corrected you jump into another thing, it is bad. I don't know why you were banned, maybe too much abuses, maybe lies but believe me if you continue the way you are going now you may most likely be banned for lack of comprehension of issues than anything else. This is a public forum and most of the users don't even know one another and as such people don't come here to make enemies regardless of our passions and sentiments. Everyone will benefit when issues are discussed without bad blood, facts must be respected, truth should be preferred, misinformation should be avoided. I recently added an article as regards why it may take eternity for Nigeria to move forward at www.afamnnaji.com Read it if you have time and see if it can help you readjust your style. |
juintade:Crap? Why? What is wrong with the site abi you want make elephant come dey welcome visitors for the homepage before the site go dey cool? |
Thank you Bankole01. Jackal:Indecent exposure is unlawful but indecent dressing isn't? Na wah ooo. Person wey use cloth cover hin body well well fit dey guilty of indecent exposure? Me, I no understand this your logic. Abi we go wait till women begin waka for road without even bra or pant sef? |
So, na me wan give you lifeline to help you redeem you battered image based on masked hatred? For where? Tell them say you know see me. One thing you have failed to realize is that you can never hide who you really are, our life dey like mirror, e must to show you wetin you be even if na broken mirror sef. Do have a lovely weekend and stop hating. |
PTH:The content in bold refers abeg houses do not fall everyday in Lagos, enough of the lies and misinformation. |
laudate:There is no road in that route you are taking. Dead end. How many times have we disagreed on anything on this forum for you to talk about dissenting positions? Have you ever seen a thread where I have attacked or abused a people? Even if I know your tribe today and you abuse the Igbos I will never abuse you tribe but I can (and most likely will) abuse you. It is wrong to abuse a people based on the actions of a few. I restate this: If it took my comment about your position on Ono and the hate filled comments you were ever so ready to defend to know that I am a bad person and according to you, that you will lose all the respect you had for me then it shows that you are a sycophant, simple. Learn not to like or dislike people based on convenience, let a sound principle of what is right or wrong guide you. As a person I have nothing against you but knowing that you harbour hatred towards the Igbos only make it easier for me to relate to your posts. My intention was not to start a boxing contest as I no get the energy for dat one now. |
grafikdon:In my opinion there is absolutely no reason why we keep importing a lot of goods into this country from food to electronics. However, there is so much suspicion that all well meaning efforts are usually destroyed before they even begin to bear fruits. |
I clicked on the first and the last links and they are still opening as I write this reply. I agree that we need not be quarreling on this. Can't stop laughing on your reason for using yahoo mail. Enjoy Update After about 10 minutes the flashlevel.com website is still loading the interface. I know my internet connection is not high speed by 10 minutes wait on a website don't sound cool. |
@denex, In fact I missed those ones you stated, all exposures of private parts in public should be forbidden. Inside the room, no wahala. |
@denex, It seems that you don't like taking the advice you give to other people. By now you should know the mindset of people like texazzpete, Davidylan (now PTH), I-man (formerly 4Play) and the baba of dem all TayoD. To these people the West can do no wrong regardless of the actions which even some Westerners criticize themselves but some Nigerians will be ready to die defending what cannot be defended. |
I thought we have defined DECENT and INDECENT DRESSING before. Ok, let's have it again DECENT DRESSING - The type of dressing that covers the breasts, belles and butts. INDECENT DRESSING - The type of dressing that does just the opposite of what DECENT DRESSING does. So, let us move on and see how we can apply this Fashola magic to other areas like poverty alleviation, armed robbery etc because it seems he has a magic wand because I never knew we had a lot of beautiful women in Lagos as I have been seeing a lot of them lately and the good thing is that they are not even showing us their breasts, belles and butts. Government get power sha, only make dem show this power in fighting crime and other social vices sha. |
After going through the content posted by ebo I am now feeling bad that Biafra did not succeed, by now Biafra would have been the envy of even some western nations. I salute the courage and bravery that Biafran men and women showed during the war even with the odds against them from day 1. I guess it is the same spirit that drives the average Igbo man today where inspite of all potholes and obstacles being put on the road to success they still succeed where others fail. |
Cactus:And these errors are enough to make you abandon programming if you are not the patient, calm and meticulous type. Excellent response. |
Interesting responses. @tundewoods, Someone told me something when I wondered why people easily misunderstand something and veer off completely in no time, she said that people normally want to hear what they want to hear and they see what they want to see. You seem to imagine that one is here to compete with you. Wrong. I have stated over and over again that I do not design websites for N4k even though anyone that chooses to do so can and for that reason alone the person must not be abused. My issue with you was based on you calling people like that kids and tried to justify some of the very negative comments about them by claiming you spend a lot on power. A word is enough for the wise so if you feel it is ok to abuse people that choose to do things differently then carry on and good luck. @Neptune, You see the problem with Nigerians, kids could setup www.justwebservices.com/bwebsite in 40 minutes according to you. I won't even quarrel with that because anyone that is good in PHP and Mysql can do anything but my problem is the level of inconsistency I see here. Some people have been having problems with the fact that I stated that a lot of database driven applications can indeed be setup in hrs or a few days. Now, while you believe the link above is poor (which is your personal opinion which you are entitled to) I will maintain that you do not have many websites (including expensive ones) that have better functionality when compared to what you have there (meanwhile that effort is geared towards making it possible for the average business man in Nigeria to own a business website with unlimited products listing functionality). The link you sent is ok but would any serious business owner depend on that website for success? I think not because even though you may have been showcasing your web design skills (sometimes to the detriment of the client website) the website background and text color combination is poor (in my opinion). Take your time, go and search online and come back with just 1 or 2 websites that have similar look and feel that are successful or very busy. By your standards I am sure google website is crap but the owners know exactly why they are online today and I am sure they can hire the best web designers in the world if they wanted to produce a stunning website for google. My dear, over 90% of websites in the world fail to do well and the reason is not far fetched, they lose focus from day 1, learn to draw a line between trying to showcase your design skills and the usefulness or functionality of a website. People use yahoo mail today because they want to send and receive emails, people use google today because they are looking for information. Can you give me one reason why I should visit your website (if you have any) today? On web design vs web developer If you go through all my posts on this forum you will never see anywhere I referred to myself as a web designer because I am not one, I am a web developer with expertise in PHP. Suffice to state here that I had indeed taken time to explain the difference on this same thread when I stated that we must understand that a complete website is a combination of web design and/or programming, web hosting and domain name. So, if the cheapest hosting price for static websites that I provide is N24K how on earth can any reasonable person conclude that I can develop a website (unfortunately that has been the focus here instead of the web design part) for N4K? We talk too much, brag too much, flex muscles too much yet have little to show for it. This is the bane of the web development industry in Nigeria and it will take a long long time for things to be done right. Enjoy! NB: If you want to have an idea of what I think a useful website should be like see www.afamite.com or the free personal script I wrote at www.afamnnaji.com including the one you claimed can be setup by kids in 40mins at www.justwebservices.com/bwebsite (another free script for business owners). |
And which is the right party? |
prodgalson:Sure, a lot of users here use open source tools but how many of them are willing to create open source tools for others? Like I stated, I am still trying to get a handle on why many do not like the idea of creating either free or dirty cheap applications for the generality of Nigerians. |
Thanks for the reply. I agree with you that everyone wins with a business model like that. But it seems most developers here may not want such an idea, the reason why is what I am still trying to figure out. |
What will be the reaction of software developers, web designers and programmers if today there is a real need to start an open source web project that will enable Nigerians (as a whole) benefit from going online without breaking the bank? With such an idea be welcomed, accepted or will be it opposed, run down and dismissed? Projects like PHP, Asterix, Oscommerce etc were developed using the open source model, even linux too. So, why not a Nigerian focused solution with all the features and functionalities that Nigerians themselves want? |
You no read the subject line, wetin you dey find inside again? |
Gheorghe:DECENT - The type wey dey cover breast, belle and the back side well INDECENT DRESSING - The type wey dey do the opposite of wetin DECENT dey do ![]() |
big spif:So, because you are not aware of something makes that thing rubbish abi? Well, when you learn to ask questions properly I shall consider them (well apart from the correction above sha). |
Danmasani:Wonders shall never end on Nairaland. |
mikeansy:Thank God people are beginning to see Laudate for what he is. I prefer to relate with Ono 1000 times over than relate with Laudate because anyone that vents his anger using words or actions is far better than one that will pretend that all is well while harboring deep rooted hatred towards you. In Laudate I have seen enough, I am actually looking for a blindfold this minute. My message to all Igbo haters remain: LOVE THE IGBOS OR HATE THEM, YOU CANNOT IGNORE THEM, NEVER. |
George Bush Jnr aka the worst president in the world today |
Neptune, You claim to understand the issue but from your write up you don't. If you are advising me to stop designing websites for N4k and for me to step up my game then you've missed the boat a long time. The minimum web hosting package for static website that we offer is N24K while web hosting packages for dynamic websites (database driven) starts from N42K per year. I do not charge N4k for websites. However, we must realize one thing. Any one that designs a website for N4K must not be insulted because he/she has chosen to do so. That has been my point from day 1. As a web developer I guess all you are interested in is in how to make more money from clients abi? There are other people who want to see more and more Nigerians being able to own websites just as people from other parts of the world have access to websites. So, the main issue aside, challenging me to post a site for review is cool but in reality there is basically nothing I cannot do online as regards web programming using PHP and Mysql. If it can be web enabled I can do it in no time, it's my passion, it's my life. If you are looking for something to review, you can review a website I just finished setting up (infact just uploaded it). The idea behind setting the site up is to provide a cost effective way for business owners to own websites - www.justwebservices.com/bwebsite The site comes with an admin interface that will enable anyone change anything on that website without any HTML or programming skills whatsoever. You can make your thoughts open on that site and the cost of the site is N0.00 This idea of looking for an item to buy and you can't see any reasonable information online because a lot of businesses are not online is not good and affects everyone negatively. Enjoy! Reality check Now, all the grandstanding aside how many Nigerians can afford to pay N200k or N1M for a website? How many Nigerians can afford to pay 20K or N150K for a website? How many Nigerians can afford to pay N4K or N10K for a website? Answers to these questions will help guide all serious web developers out there towards what I call appropriate pricing as against this big talk of expensive website because in reality I have seen many web developers come into this business and go out of it because like the dot com bust they fail to face the reality on ground. |
@laudate, If it took you ages to figure out how bad Afam is because he made comments about you that you didn't like then it means you are the biggest sycophant in the world today. |

Cite dates, statistics and provide empirical evidence o! Don't lie, because that seems to be your stock in trade right now!!
) about those guys but he'd no idea what became of them, apart from the only one he knows who'd abandoned his skills because of Naija frustration. I was so happy when I was introduced to one of them by my former boss in New York. . . I am now convinced Biafra would have been like a combination of Japan and the USA of today, but if Nigerians can let go of the past, rid themselves of the disturbing paranoia of some ethnic groups, getb rid of the same ol redundant politicians, turn their backs on religious fanaticism (is it really possible), see each other as Nigerians before Efik, Hausa, Igbo, Isoko, kanuri, Ijaw,Yoruba, Igboid (lol at that name). . . I don't think that USA/Japan combo is far fetched. . . it is attainable even within a short period
