I bought the smallest hosting plan that Hostgator has for a client and was expecting the usuall exchange rate of 200 naira to a dollar as enforced by CBN only to see an alert of about 24k. Guys, it's just $50 freaking dollars. I don't think i'll be buying anything in dollars for a while.

PoliticsRe: You Eat Lagos’ Salt, Yet Speak Ill Of Lagos - Lasisi Olagunju by Afam4eva(m): 8:00pm On Oct 16, 2016
I hope those shouting for a special status to be given to Lagos are aware of other perks that comes with that and that is the fact that, should Lagos be given a special status, Nigerians, irrespective of state of origin, ethnicity and state of residence may also be given equal rights with the indegenes in Lagos. So, when we are clamoring for something, we should also look at all sides of the coin and not be myopic in our reasoning.

We make it sound as if people are benefiting from Lagos before putting anything into Lagos. Could the indegenes of Lagos had built a Lagos without the help of Nigerians from all over. Infact what is the contribution of Lagos indegenes to what Lagos is today? On the contrary, i think Lagos should be grateful for what Nigeria has done for it. Nigeria made Lagos and not the other way around.

So you are trying to tell me now that these men killed their wives because the wives made more money than them? undecided....that is what you are trying to make me believe?
There's a part where the woman starts acting up and trying to destroy the husband's destiny.

What beats me is why a Nigerian in America will kill his wife for something not as bad as what some women in Nigeria do and are still breathing. Is there really something about America that changes people? Is it the gun laws? But we have husbands bludgeoning wives to death.

I just left Owerri a few days ago and you needed to be in Owerri to understand how bad Douglas road was with the heap of refuse couples with the bad roads.

My issue with Rochas and the Imo state government is not even just about the refuse dump because every state capital can boast of their own fair share of dirt. What pissed me off was the response of the government. it just goes to show that Rochas sees himself as a god rather than a servant of the people. How can a sitting governor state that the reason he hasn't cleared the dump was to punish the people of Owerri. Couldn't he have lied like other politicians? Do people like Rochas think they will be relevant in the political circles forever. Why would a politician kick himself in the foot with such statement riddles with quantum idiocy.

PDP is beginning to think like PRE-Election APC. They took advantage of Rochas's lapses and have definitely scored a point on this one. The next election in Imo state will be interesting.

PoliticsRe: Which Ethnic Group Is The 4th Largest In Nigeria? by Afam4eva(m):
This country is just full of illiterates. How can someone say that because a tribe is indigenous to several states or even regions, that makes them large. There's a difference between been widespread and being large. A tribe can be found in only one state and still be very large as opposed to a tribe in several states. If for example, you say Ijaw is the 4th largest ethnic group and support it with the fact that they're in Bayelsa, Rivers, Edo and Delta. The question i will ask is "How many are they in these states?". There are about 1.7million people in Bayelsa state and let's assume that all of them are Ijaws (meaning, there are no non-indegenes living there) and let's not forget that the largest population of Ijaws are in bayelsa. Now let's add them to the Ijaws in Rivers state which for the sake of this argument, i'll say they constitute 30% of the population and using the official census, that will be about 30% of 5.1 million which gives you about 1.5 million. In the spirit of generosity let's also assume that Ijaws make-up 30% of the population of Delta state which gives them 1.2 million out of 4 million and let's dash them 500,000 each in Edo and Ondo states. Let's also assume that Ijaws also travel a lot and that there population outside their States is 1 million, that gives them a total of 5.4 million and this is in the spirit of generosity and hear I saw someone saying that the Ijaws have a population of 15 million. The kind of bogus lies some Nigerians tell is just bigger than the problems of the county.

The truth is that there is no official census based on ethnicity in Nigeria. All we can do is to speculate but with reason. For instance, I usually use the ethnicities I run into mostly in different parts of the country to determine which of them is larger and I must say that I come across more than 10 Efik/Ibibio/Annang/Oron people before I come across an Ijaw person. So, there's no way Ijaws are anywhere close to being the 4th largest.

FamilyRe: How To Protect Your Husband From Small Small Girls by Afam4eva(m): 7:17pm On Oct 08, 2016
There's no recipe for protecting a man from small small girls. If he's randy then there's really not much you can do. The best you can do is to reduce his randiness by spreading your legs at every turn. Wives should make sure their legs are never touching each other. They should be apart at all times. Cooking also helps as the saying goes "The best way to a man's heart is...."

In some situations is really not about "jealousy", you just find a good wife being maltreated by her mother in-law.
It's annoying.
I doubt that very much. It's just how you see it from your vantage point. I believe a MIL whether rightly or wrongly has a reason she thinks is good enough to maltreat her DIL.

personally i'm not scared of meeting the man's father because i assume father's trust their sons to have made the right choices, but for the mothers is not usually the same, was able to ask someone if she felt same and she confessed feeling worse. grin

The problem is not with just Mother-In-laws only. It's a female problem generally. Women tend to be jealous of each other and will stop at nothing to prove to their fellow female folk that they're better especially when at an advantageous position. Some Daughter Inlaws are also guilty of treating their MILs badly.

UPDATE: How Rangers emerged champions-elect of Nigeria League
Rangers International of Enugu have ‘unofficially’ emerged as the champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League for the 2015/16 season.
The Flying Antelopes beat Ikorodu United 2-1 away from home at the MKO Abiola Stadium on Sunday to end their 32-year wait for silverware.
Obinna Nwobodo with a stunning strike and Chisom Egbuchulam scored first half goals to help Rangers clinch the league title with a game left to spare.
Wikki Tourists and Rivers United who were all in the hunt for the league shield also failed to get the desired results in their respective games.
While Wikki lost 1-0 in Ibadan against Shooting Stars, Rivers United lost the initiative as they could only play a barren draw at home against Abia Warriors.
Rangers with the win in Abeokuta have an unassailable 60 points.
Even if they lost their last game at home next weekend against El-Kanemi, Rivers United the only team capable of getting to 60 points will have to beat Akwa United by as much as a 5-goal margin to overtake Rangers at the top. Rivers have not beaten any team by such margin this season
In other key games on Sunday, Heartland beat Kano Pillars 1-0 to move out of the relegation zone going into the last round of games.
http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/211238-update-rangers-emerged-champions-elect-nigeria-league.html
With the way Akwa United beat Calabar rovers 14 goals to nil some years ago to get out of the relegation zone, i won't hold my breadth yet as anything is possible in this league of ours.

The term software programmer is broad. A software analyst must be a software programmer/engineer but software testers can be just about anybody not scared of a keyboard.

I also advice ppl interested in doing computer software to aim for the role of a software engineer/architect not just a coder.
Is there a difference between a programmer and a coder? Do both terms mean the same thing? What do you think?

Is a database architect(I assume you understand the roles) a software programmer/engineer?

If the answer is "No" then my friend read again. You may just be getting upset because you fall under the grab Joomla/WordPress and go category. Don't be, just learn.

Being old isn't a bad thing, unless you mean being old means dead and obsolete.
A role of a programmer is not as vast as some of you make it seem. Some of you use the trend in Nigeria to measure the role of a programmer. I will also blame some of us that use the term to refer to anybody who does anything to do with building a software whereas apart from programmers, there are software engineers, analysts, testers etc and these people are a lot of times rated higher than programmers.

A programmer is anyone who can write atleast a simple computer/web program like "Hello World". if this is not the definition of a programmer then we won't have terms such as "Good programmer", "Bad programmer" or "professional programmer". I think hat the thread meant to say is that there are very few professional programmers in Nigeria.

So, the only thing he could tell Igbo corpers in Daura is to forget about Biafra. His language of "YOUR PEOPLE" speaks volume of how divisive he is. Isn't he suppose to be the president of Nigeria cos he talked like he was talking to citizens of another country.

I don't use Lagos, West and Yorubaland interchangeably- Although they are all intrinsically related. Lagos is in the West and the West is Inside Yorubaland which is not limited to the West.
Here is a simple question for you, What major opportunities exist for Yoruba people in the SE compared to what exists for Igbos outside the East?
The top reason people relocate are
1- Economic (finding job, following a career path etc)
2- Social (Moving to a place with a better quality of life)
3- Political (Civil Unrest, Lack of freedom etc)
4- Leisure (Just for fun)

Which of these can Igbos Offer Yorubas, that will make them migrate there in great numbers?
I think that will settle the issue.
I thought you knew all these. I'm sure you've never stepped your foot in the east. You only rely on beer parlour gossip for your analysis on Igboland. Go and ask the Yorubas who live there why they do.

If our educationists decide to do that, parents would have nothing to about it, but accept it. Parents don't decide what happens in academia.

If indeed, we do that, an Igbo man would stop considering someone who doesn't speak English as illiterate, just like you cited in Japan.

And, No, Chinese was never a language in Japan. It was tiny Japan that instead controlled China and got part of China (Taiwan) to speak Japanese. You may want to check to get your history right.

By the way, do you know Britain itself did what I'm asking for?

Do you know, once upon a time Britain was also occupied by foreigners and they spoke the language of foreigners?

Do you know Britain once spoke Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Latin?

Britain spoke foreign languages as well when they were occuppied!. But, when Britain regained their freedom, they banned all foreign languages from the entire British isle, and instead adopted their native English language as the language of instruction. The year was 1362 and it was only then that English became an official language.

Britain itself have showed that foreign language isn't good for a sovereign nation; why should it be good for us?
Are you a sovereign nation? Some of you just open your gutter mouths an dtalk like stark illiterate and throw analogies that don't fit all over the place. Igbo and Yoruba are entities with a country called Nigeria, so if you must give an analogy from elsewhere use two characters that are also entities in the same countries.

That your analogy does not rilly fit.
Do Indians travel to the UK to explore the "little" or "bigger" market there as well? since we all know that all Indians can not be in India?
How about the Brits today, do they travel to settle en-masse in Pakistan to explore opportunities there since their English homeland is "saturated"? Having a limited expatriate community in another country or in the case of Nigeria, region is quite different from coming to settle at a place in the Millions. If the Igbo community in the west was limited to sparepart dealers in select markets or a relatively small business community, I would believe you. But it isn't. A lot of them will chose the West over the East. They literally live, breathe, marry, reproduce, and die here, even buried here in millions.
I just clocked 30 in July and there are some lame arguments i will not go into especially when the opposing person refuses to be reasonable.

How exactly does your analogy add up? You're just making it seem that there's something in Yorubaland that's not present anywhere else and that's why they're rushing there and that is not the truth else they won't be in Kano, Kaduna, Benin, Maiduguri (war ridden), Zamfara, Calabar, Uyo, yenagoa or even smaller towns like Kafanchan, Dutse, Bida etc. It's because they're really going to these places to offer a service that the native either are not interested in or don't have the knowhow. The biggest complaint against immigrants globally is the issue of immigrants taking the jobs of the natives. Can you sincerely tell me that Igbos are taking anyone's jobs as the last time i checked Igbos are usually involved in one form of business or the other. I can bet that Yorubas makeup atleast a whopping 80% of the workforce in the Lagos civil service despite the fact that they don't make up that much percent of population, so you can't say Igbos are taking your jobs.

A lot of Igbos who live in Lagos will choose Lagos over the east, south, North or anywhere else in Nigeria. And it's about Lagos being the commercial capital and not because it's Yorubaland. Have you forgotten that almost everything Nigeria is located in Lagos and it's only commosensical that Lagos should be the number one subject when the issue of rural-urban migration is discussed. It will also be moral for you to know when to use Lagos, West and Yorubaland. Don't use them interchangeably cos they're not the same.

SONofYORUBA:
Yorubas travel, but what would make Yorubas travel to the SE, a region that's not economically viable? There's nothing in Iboland. It's second to the North in backwardness. Yorubaland houses more than 70% of Nigerias non-oil sector.
Why do you think everyone is moving to Yorubaland?
I just gave you one minute of silence for your ignorance. You're really at the top of the chain.

If the SE was not economically viable then no one will remain there, not even Igbos. Globally, people leave their homelands to find opportunities elsewhere because those available in their homelands are not enough for the population. There are people making it in the east but every Igbo person can't be there. All spare part dealers cannot be in Nnewi, so the may decide to move to Lagos that has a bigger market or move to Ile Ife to compete for the smaller market. It doesn't mean that Ile Ife is better than where they're coming from in General but because they see an opportunity and the're tapping into it.

It's funny how you guys always replace Lagos with Yorubaland. Lagos house 70% of Nigeria's oil sector (according to you) and that's because Lagos is Nigeria's economic capital. There's really no much difference between other cities in Nigeria apart from Lagos, Abuja and PH except for landmass.

Coming back to the eat being so bad. I would have believed that lie to only that whenever i'm in Owerri, i see a lot of Hausa people hustling at Douglas Road and elsewhere. based on my understanding of Yoruba people, they're the kind of people who love to stay in their comfort zone especially as it relates with Nigeria. Anywhere other than the 3 most important NIgerian cities, they're really not down with it. I don't know if it's due to a fear of the unknown.
