LagosEconomist: I repeat, we are good enough to beat any team in this tournament, and will likely win it and get the Olympic ticket.
Angola is not the US, and will lose to this Nigerian team by double figures if they are unlucky enough to cross our path.
The fact that we did not get it right in the past and undeperformed does not mean you should stay stuck to those standards. Ill quote this for posterity. I hope you're right. |

CFCfan: They need to knock down the stadium and construct a 40,000 seater football-specific arena; which befits their status as one of the elite clubs in Africa Isn't there a way they couls renovate and add more seats to the stadium as opposed to knocking the entire stadium down. If they're going to need a new stadium then they can as well leave this one and find a new ground to construct a new befitting stadium. It's a shame that a club like Enyimba is sometimes made to play continental football in Abuja because of the bad state of their stadium. |

LagosEconomist: We are good enough to beat any team in the tournament and can't be scared.
You have to beat the best to be the best, and there is only one goal here. Win and get the Olympic ticket.
If it makes you feel better, Angola will likely be first or second in group B, and will face the team that is third or fourth in our group, so we will probably not meet till the latter stages of the tournament. The last time i heard this statement was just before the US basketball team broke a world record and we were the victim. Angola still boasts of the best team in Africa. It's good to know that we'll not be meeting them just yet. |

No be today Enyimba begin begin dey get bad pitch. Their pitch is easily one of the worst in the country. I don't know what it will take them to do some upgrades t the stadium. |

scholes0: Literacy is the Ability to read and Write in any Language. does not have to be English... Have that at the back of your mind.
That being said, I do believe there are some states where young people within a certain age bracket are able to do basic reading and writing in English, at levels up to 90% You don't have to be Achebe, Ngugi or Soyinka to be defined as being literate. Literacy rate in Nigeria hovers at around 60%, because some very populous northern states have abysmally low rates. But then, this is Youth literacy, not all round literacy. So, one would expect it to be higher. Think about it. Of course, the north is responsible for the 60% figure. If you remove the north, I will put the figure at 70% - 80%. BTW, as it pertains to the definition of literacy, we are all aware that there is no definite definition. Not even the popular one that defines literacy as being able to read suffices. Since, we are basing this on education then I can we can define it as anyone who has finished a secondary education. |

Are my eyes deceiving me? I had to look at the literacy rates and I'm like "Does any state or region in Nigeria have up to 90% youth literacy rate?" There's no way that that is possible. I will put the Nigerian youth literacy at 60%. |

ArodewilliamsT: While complaing about Oyo dragging SW down. Did you extrapolate the sizeable non-indigenous population of Lagos who are mainly of SE/SS origin and educated. Will you objectively concede that their population also helped to raise the SW literacy average? I would think that the findings were done using state of origin as opposed to state of residence. I think the stats is close to the truth but does not highlight who goes to school in terms of volume. |

Chartey: Are you saying there's a level playing ground for all players no matter where they come from even if they have the same technical abilities? Are you telling me Iheanacho and Raheem Sterling have had equal opportunities? Are you telling me if Ayew was argentine he wouldn't have had an easier Road? He has even had a relatively easier one riding on the reputation of his father but he still worked very hard for an u20 world cup winning captain. A raheem sterling will definitely have it easier than an Iheanacho just because he is from England and is readily assesible to scouts, coaches and team despite the fact that Iheanacho has proven himself in the under age football competition. However, the only reason an Argentine will have it easier than an African is owing to technicality according to Airmark. We have good players but we don' necessarily have players who can fit into top teams. |
Sports › Re: Michael Babatunde Joins Dnipro by Afam4eva(m): 2:49pm On Aug 14, 2015 |
Chartey: Not exactly. So, we wouldn't say it's because of he law because we have so many foreign players playing in those top leagues. Nigerian players just seem not to be up to scratch or are not well evaluated. |

Sports › Re: Michael Babatunde Joins Dnipro by Afam4eva(m): 2:12pm On Aug 14, 2015 |
Chartey: It's not really about technical issues. It's the laws that make it very hard for African players to get clubs in the big leagues. Some laws are just silly like a player needing an amount of international caps before signing for a team in the EPL and others. Last week 30 goals were scored in the EPL, Africans scored 10 of those goals and South Americans scored only 3 yet players from S/America have a far easier road to big clubs than African players. Does the law not also apply to South Americans? |
Sports › Re: Michael Babatunde Joins Dnipro by Afam4eva(m): 1:39pm On Aug 14, 2015 |
airmark: Most did nt go to top clubs immediately they left Africa. They paid their dues too. Besides, Dnipro was 3rd in Ukraine last season and played Europa league cup final against sevilla last May. They are not doing badly like that. I'm no in anyway downplaying Dnipro but they are obviously not an elite club in Europe. We should have our players playing for the top 4 clubs in England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain and not the 3rd club in Ukraine. Something is definitely wrong somewhere and i want to believe it has something to do with the agents that manage these players. |
Sports › Re: Michael Babatunde Joins Dnipro by Afam4eva(m): 1:11pm On Aug 14, 2015 |
airmark: It's not that easy to sign top team and break into first team for Africans like that. European football is very technical and our players needs a lot to learn before they could fit in. The competition is rife there. What about players from Ivory coast, Cameroon and Ghana that are playing first team football for top teams in Europe. Why do our players always settle for less or are our players not good enough? |
