If the North is educationally backward then I wonder why that region is still being given most of the leadership positions. Shouldn't it have gone to the people who are educationally advanced?. The way the North is raping the rest of Nigeria, dem go soon destroy our womb.

In Nigeria the sharing formula is by Population and landmass of the states. And also oil production from the states. If another state is carved out from the existing South easst states as defined today, the total revenue coming to south east will be approximately the same .

More states only cause more divisions and dis unity. Outside that it only increase number of governors and other politians

So, can you explain why Sokoto that has been divided into about 3 states does not have the same allocation it had in the 70s. Coupled with the increase of its population. Is it that people were imported from Niger republic to fill up the new states?

United state of America is ten times (10 times) the size of nigeria and about two times (2times) our population. united state have Just 50 states. Using United states as a standard, 36 states are already too much for Nigeria.

But the US government does not share money to its federating units. The core of this discussion is the revenue sharing formula of Nigeria. In the US, every state caters for themselves and that is why Texas is the richest state as opposed to New York or Cali.

South east has only five states because it is small. Only nasarawa state is almost equal to size of all south east states. Niger state alone is almost twice the size of all south east state.

You were the one who said Nigeria should not be compared to the US citing the GDP of both countries and I showed you a country that has less gdp than Nigerian and better educational system and the best you could come up with was Finland's population without realizing the the same US has more mouths to feed than Nigeria, so having a 7 billion GDP should not suffice. What has your country, with its budget done for the educational system. It seems to me that youre not aware that those countries are the way they are because they have more competent people in key areas and are not feeling their hands into funds meant for the public like your people here in Nigeria.

Nigeria's annual GDP is 520 billion dollars.

You expect Nigerian universities to be of the same standard as US universities because you have foam in your head where your brain ought to be.

The GPD of Finland is 49 billion dollars. How come we don't have better universities than them based on your thought process.

With what I've seen on this thread, its surely better than covenant as I've been there. Our leaders are just thieves.

The solution to this is simple. Create federating units that will control the resources and if they seem it fit to have 100 states, so be it. Our system of revenue sharing is the most fr fraudulent system that I've ever come across.
