Foreign AffairsRe: Mandela Or Fela, Who Did More? by Afam4eva(m): 5:43pm On Dec 08, 2013
Some people say Mandela is overated. What then do we say about Fela. I think he's one of the most overhyped people of the 20th and 21st century. Even people who don't know what he did will be the ones singing his songs the most. I don't see how what Fela did to what other anti corruption voices have done. So, it's an insult to compare Fela to mandela who has formed an ideology that has endeared people all over the world and not just in his native South Africa. This is a man who was fighting for freedom before he was locked away for decades. Fela has nothing on him.

I didn't read any meaning into it. I'm surprised you did. I guess we see what we choose to see.
TV/MoviesRe: Why Are Nollywood Movies Always So Delusional? by Afam4eva(m): 2:40pm On Dec 08, 2013
collynzo2: I have seen this a lot of times in Hollywood movies; a guy is shot on the chest, he falls on the ground gasping for breath, his partner partner runs to him and tries to hold him up while asking, ''are you okay''? ''are you okay''?
What kind of useless question is that?
It can happen in real life too.
TV/MoviesRe: Why Are Nollywood Movies Always So Delusional? by Afam4eva(m): 2:18pm On Dec 08, 2013
Richy.:
Sorry to ask this question. are you saying that villagers in Nigeria cannot speak English? you have to know that the era that villagers cannot speak English is gone. this is 21st century, you do not expect them to portray villagers of those generation to this present generation. there are graduate villagers in Nigeria this days. those that some circumstances made to remain in the village who got no link to the city.
Which graduates villagers are in the village. The ones that are there are in the minority. I'm talking about the real villagers. Even a lot of people in the city cannot speak good english while some cannot speak at all. Let alone people in the village. Most people in the village are English illiterates, so i'm shocked that they could be made to speak English in movies.

PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Afam4eva(m): 1:59pm On Dec 08, 2013
Nightshift: Enugu is not empty as some folks are insinuating. Recently while i was in Coal City, i noticed some little increase in the city's population. I equally noticed more vehicles on roads that were 2-3 years ago less busy in traffic. I was told that thousands of Igbo returnees from the North swelled Enugu's population.
Enugu is a nice place to enjoy retirement. A visit to GRA, Independence Layout and some parts of Trans- Ekulu will avail one the chance of seeing retired Igbo professionals enjoying life. More houses are needed, no doubt, but over population will kill the joy of the city for most people.
It has to be managed effectively. We don't want an Onitsha or Lagos situation in Enugu. Enugu is known as a serene sity and has to remain that. Though some parts in greater Enugu can become commercialized but it should not stain the entire city. I think we have to take a cue from what is obtainable in other countries where industries, commerce, residential areas are domiciled in different places.

Warri _Pikin: Bros, i don't know how old you are, but at the proper age when the time comes for you to decide where to settle your family, you will consider:
Roads, security, decent housing/ good neighborhood, electricity, water, good schools and hospitals.

You may even consider your job last and sometimes may prefer to work in one city while your family lives in another.
I live in my house off Jakpa road in Warri but i bought a nice bungalow house in Asaba for my family because of some reasons i have enumerated.

You must think that the only reasons Nigerians go abroad and refuse to come back is because of jobs? Bros, you will be surprised to know that many Nigerians abroad can very well run their businesses even better when they are based here. But the reasons i have outlined are holding them back. Yes, lack of decent well planned estates and decent neighborhoods can make you decide never to live in a particular city over another. No disrespect meant to my dear Ibo people here, but personally, i will never live in Onitsha, even if you gave me a job paying $1 million dollars a week! grin
I'm not saying that the lack of good living condition(houses, roads etc) is not a factor. I only find it odd that it could be described as the major problem. Nigerians who go abroad, go there to get a better life and a good job tops the list of what they want. The good rods, neigbourhoods etc are secondary. Even in Lagos here, there's nothing fantastic about the infrastructure and i don't see how different it is to the states in the SE save for the fact that it's a bigger version comercially of other states in Nigeria. The only reason a lot of people will die in Lagos is not because of the standard of living but due to the availability of jobs. people will rather live in places such as Enugu, Calabar, uyo, owerri and Asaba if there were as much job opportunities as Lagos.

adaobi123: Pele. Don't you guys have data subscription thing ? How much will cost to have unlimited data for a month ?
I don't think there's any unlimited plan presently but there used to be. Even when i used to use an unlimited plan, the company called me and told me that i'm using too much.

You guys abroad are enjoying as far as internet is concerned. Watching movies on Irokotv in Nigeria is suicidal.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Afam4eva(m): 12:34pm On Dec 08, 2013
I disagree that the absence of quality residential area is the reason why High class have refused to live in Igboland. The reason is that for a lot of these high class people have no business in the South East. The only reason why they would erect a nice building most times is because they see Igboland as their Ancestral land. The government of the SE have to put in measures to make the creme de la creme of the Igbo society to remain in the SE.

IKEMBA NNEWI: Afam is in Lagos, Igbo son(who hardly sees anything good in the SE) Is in London, onlytruth,Dede,Eziachi and the likes are all overseas, leaving behind mediocres to govern the SE. What do you expect when a secondary school certifcate holder like ifeanyi could gather the gall to campaign for Governorship in a state like Anambra that boasts of Achebe,Zik,Ojukwu,Dora,Soludo,Ezekwesili,Alex ekwueme, and the likes...we cannot continue like this if we want our region to progress, we need to curb this menace, b4 one day we wake up to find only elderly, sick and kids in our regions while the able bodied young men and technocrats are all packed in other regions
You have a point. The only reason we have the likes of Orji as Governor and people like Uba having the temerity to stand up and contest to be a governor, it means there's a dearth of Igbo intellegentsia living in the SE.

SportsRe: Is Victor Moses Overrated? by Afam4eva(m): 9:18am On Dec 08, 2013
All i know is that Victor Moses is a good player but he's too lazy. I've watched him in Liverpool several times and he's too laid back to be considered on of the best in the world. He has to attempt to do out of the box stuff.

gbosaa: They will prove you wrong Afam...They might end up topping the group just like Nigeria and Ghana..

There will be lots of shocking and awkward moments in Brazil next yr..argentina and germany might be eliminated in the group stage. cheesy
Atleast you agree that it will be awkward and shocking for England to qualify. It just shows that the team is useless and only need luck to progress.
