From what i know, it's only when an armed robber has killed someone in the process of robbing them that he may be killed when found guilty.

By popularity,i mean that in this part of the world, such crimes are not known to attract such a punishment.

I never said there's anything wrong with it. I'm only pointing to the fact that it's not a popular law and it also shows the governor is a bit of an extremist. If you can kill kidnappers, then what will you do to killers? I guess kill them bury them and after 3 months, dig their grave and flog their carcass and bury them again and bring them out finally for their carcass to face firing squad.

Mumu and NIgeria are two inseperable siamese twins. When you think the government is idiotic in their action, then they tell you they can do better - idiocy.

We really have to be watchful of this Oshiomole guy. Recent actions of his points to the fact that he may turn out to be a totalitarian. Was he not the one that passed a death penalty for kidnappers? He's too hard for a governor. This is not a military dictatorship.

Enough of all this hype. If you can survive in any town in Nigeria then you can survive in Lagos. You just need a little bit more zeal. It's not like Lagos is even as rough as it used to be when we used to drag to enter bus. Things are a bit more organized now even more than some other cities. I think the whole surviving in Lagos thingy is over-hyped.

The thread suggests that you were referring o residents. In that case then Imo takes the cake followed by Anambra. Any Igbo person i meet anywhere, i always assume the person is from either Imo or Anambra unless the person states otherwise. Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi follows right behind in that order.

This is over-zealousness at it's very height and to show how distasteful his action was, the comments of APC supporters on this thread speaks volume. There are better ways to go about things like this. To think this is the same man that was supposedly fighting on the side of the masses when he was the president of NLC.

odumchi: I don't think Abia is more populated than Enugu. Abia is perhaps more densely-populated but it doesn't have more people. Enugu is large and has several towns.

I used to think Anambra was more populated, but then I took into consideration the sheer amount of towns Imo has and its high population density. Besides, most Igbo people I meet tend to be from Imo. Take into consideration all the people from the Ideato-Isu-Arondizuogu-Obowo-Nkwere-Mbaise-Mbano-Orlu-Owerri axis.

Abia is probably at par with Enugu. A lot of people think Enugu is very populated but unlike most other SE states, Enugu doesn't have big towns apart from the capital. So, most of the population resides in Enugu town but in Abia, apart from Aba and umuahia, you have some medium sized towns with sizeable population.

coogar: outlawed as in - anyone found guilty of discriminating against osu should have the book thrown at him. people here have said one could lose a chieftaincy role, a political appointment just because he's osu - that's discrimination & it shouldn't exist in our world.

Where do you guys get all these stuff from? I've never encountered anywhere that the bolded have occurred but they're not plausible. The issue of OSU based on what i have heard(not witnessed) have risen mostly due to marriage and it's in the minority. Some parents might raise the fact that someone is Osu but it's in the same vein that some parents will raise the fact that their child is marrying from another tribe. It's just what it is and it's not something to be outlawed. It will die a natural death. The more people get educated, the more people care less about all these things. It's only in interior villages in Igboland that you'd probably hear about osu.

Enyimba won? They're the true champions. Congrats to Pillars for winning the league as well. It's the turn of Enugu Rangers next season.

I know Imo people are the most populous of all Igbo people but since a lot of them live outside Igboland, i wouldn't know if Imo state is the most populous. I kinda think it's Anambra followed by Imo or Abia. Enugu comes next then Ebonyi.

Outlawed like how? I can't remember it being in any constitution. It's a matter of choice if one wants to associate with an OSu. There are white people who are not fond and won't marry a black person. There are catholics who hate Christians of other faiths and vice-versa. There are Muslims who detest Christians and vice-versa. Discrimination in any form has come to stay and isn't going anywhere for a very long time. Let's stop pretending like the OSU caste system is the only form of discrimination. Like i said, i've never met an Osu in my life knowingly cos the whole ish is minuscle. It's not as pronounced as you lots think.

Truckpusher: I really want to be educated on who is an osu and how is it determined that one is an osu?

From my understanding, an OSU is a descendant of those that were sacrificed to the gods and the only way you'll know an Osu is if you're told. It's not written on the forehead. I've never seen an Osu in my life and invariably have not seen the discrimination people keep talking about. Though i heard there are communities that are wholly Osu people.

Nigerians ordinarily wouldn't want to tip someone that's doing the job they're been paid to do except the person does an exceptional job and out of the kindness of heart the Nigerian decides to tip the person. But most tips are solicited by workers while others are forced(police etc).

True to some extent. Charismatic goes beyond physical attributes. Someone who's clueless can be said to be uncharismatic. I won't say Obiano is clueless but one thing is for sure, he has not convinced me and i have given him the benefit of the doubt and it will remain until he becomes governor. I hope he proves some of us wrong.
