PassingShot:The actions of Wike is a great embarrassment. |
Sowell28:Quite educative. |
PedroJP:Do u even know the meaning of contradiction? Do u know the meaning of a community? Do u know the meaning of evolution? For your information, communities evolve over time based on certain interests and similarities. The language of the Niger delta seems to be Pidgin English. That is the lingua fraca in that area. This is also kind of evolving to be their language asides the individual indigenous languages. As per your assertions about where the tag Niger delta comes from, kindly refer to my earlier post. And pls do tell, why are u bringing Igbo/Yoruba into this matter?? Did u see anything Igbo/Yoruba on my earlier post? |
fr3do:Do u know the meaning of a Delta? Do u know a River called Niger? If the different people indigenous to the Delta of the Niger decide to refer to themselves collectively as Peoples of Niger Delta, how does that concern you? Why are u insisting they should stop calling themselves that? Are they not wise and sensible enough to know the right way to refer to themselves? Or are you saying otherwise? These communities have recognised that they face a common issue and has decided to refer to themselves in a unifying way. What is the big deal in that? Is it not better to be a whole community (Niger Delta) and be peaceful, than chanting individual tribal superiority which causes endless conflicts. I'm with them on this, let them call themselves Niger delta and see themselves as one over there, it will be of immense benefits to them. So far no one is putting a gun on their head to call themselves Niger Delta. This should not be a big deal. |
carnegiefan:How come it's so difficult for u people to see from his (Tonyebarcanista) own perspective. He stated it clearly that it is not logical for u to refer to the entire PH as Igweocha. He said if u say a part of it, you may be correct. Is that enough concession?? |
chukwudi44:Shut up Oga. Stop using idea. You specifically only mentioned 120 days for the supreme court. |
Congrats to the handsome Ooni. |
Ugomba:You are wrong. There are ijaws in Ondo state in Ese Odo LGA. In Ondo state, after the news is broadcast in English, it is then broadcast in Yoruba and Ijaw. |
chukwudi44:After the Appeal court ruling the illegal Governor will have to step aside. Be guided! |
Truckpusher:LOL Sleep on the appeal? Gone are those days Bro. A lot of appeals from the 2015 gubernatorial election has already been decided. This current CJN is really ensuring that cases are not been dragged unnecessarily. If he likes he can sleep while filing the appeal, the judgement will still come at the right time. And by that time, he will have no place to run to, he has to quit the seat. The speaker has to act as the Acting Governor during that period. |
fredosky111:Story for the Gods. There is a timeline now for election cases. Gone are the days when election cases go on forever. That is even the reason why the Rivers Tribunal has to sit today (Sat) so as to meet the timeline set for them. For your information, a lot of gubernatorial election appeals has been decided already. During appeal, what is looked at is not fresh evidence, but the fact if the judgment of the lower tribunal was sound. It does not take time. If Wike appeals the judgment, which he will definitely do, just to buy time, most likely the judgment will be given within a month. And if the judgement is against Wike, he has to vacate his seat, notwithstanding if he wants to go to the Supreme court or not. |
freshvine:Nobody is stopping anyone from going to court to also put the records straigth as regards the election in those states. Things must be done properly! If you have evidence of massive and widespread manipulations in those places, pls do us a big favour, go to a competent court with those evidences! That will even help our democratic process and give us 'case laws' that can be referred to in the future. |
That Akwa Ibom submission is at variance with the submission of the River state Election Tribunal #AkwaIbom: The card reader was not contemplated by section 49 of the Act on accreditation. #AkwaIbom: That INEC press release cannot override section 41 of the Electoral Act on accreditation. #AkwaIbom: but the silly Akwa Ibom tribunal failed to realise that it is the same Electoral Act that gives INEC the authority to conduct a free and fair election. Even though the Electoral Act did not expressly permit the use of Card readers/bar the use of card readers, it has given INEC the mandate to conduct the election and INEC can do so within the ambits of the law! #AkwaIbom: That Akwa Ibom Election tribunal must be revisited and the records set straight. If APC appropriately appeals that Akwa Ibom judgement, they should be able to get a full re-run in all the Local Governments. This does not mean APC stands a chance at all in the election, but things most be done properly! Those two elections (Akwa Ibom and Rivers) were a total sham and an embarrasment to democratic process. What marvels me is that why rig an election that you most likely will win?? This is a victory for democracy. The age and time of senseless rigging is over! If you dont win clearly, then you stand a chance to rerun. In the future sef, there should be a law barring those that engages in manipulations from contesting reruns. |
We told them! That election was daylight robbery! There was widespread intimidation and violence. I just dont understand how sane and educated people should be supporting that kind of election and be lying to our faces that the election was peaceful and Wike was validly elected. We must as a people set a precedence that is decent and defensible. If we allow the GEJ regime to go away with the bastadized elections in Rivers and Akwa Ibom, how can we justly prevent PMB from doing his own in the future?? Listen people. This is not about ethnicity and bigotry! It is about setting the records straight! Only elections that substantially follows due process must stand! (perfect election is quite impossible) Infact I will even love to see a Nigeria where election riggers and manipulators are disqualified from running in a rerun, this will make those desperate politicians think well before throwing caution to the wind. Imagine the number of people that lost their lives because of that silly election that has been cancelled now. ***** Wike and his lawyers must be sick upstairs. How can you tell a court with bold face that the elections in Rivers was very peaceful and there was massive turnout!! Chai! Imagine such outrageous lie. How wont they lose the case, with such an obvious lie. |
Ghandi12:Thank u. Age is just but a factor among many other factors. It is highly senseless to use age as the sole factor in electing a president. |
sledjama:Nice. Hail him for me oh. I love dogs. ![]() |
sledjama:Is that your dog?? He is siting with so much confidence and swag ![]() |
OldJohn:Your comment does not make sense. The reference that the project is in the public domain was given to scorn the Auditor General of the federation who is claiming ignorance of the report. The AuGF claimed the report is with the Lake Chad Basin Development Authority, PMB then asked them to comment and they replied that it is in the public domain, which implies that it is accessible by the office of the AuGF. It is very senseless for u to think it is the president that should be chasing the reports of various studies carried out and synchronising them when we have civil servants which are being paid to do just that. The President is this case has fulfilled his own responsibility perfectly, by having the knowledge of the existence of such a study/report and even the cost. PMB is way more intelligent than a lot of u think. |
Vicadonis:Pls put the necessary paragraphs to give it a better outlook. Vanguard is a big disgrace to journalism. See the story that Vanguard muddled up as it is professionally and aptly reported by Punch. Chai When will Vanguard grow up. No wonder, it is only on the internet that they have multitudes of fans. Now back to the matter. It is quite interesting that a study was conducted for 5 million dollars on environmental issues related to the Lake Chad basin few years back... Now, the Auditor General is presenting an Environmental Audit of same Lake Chad basin and he completely left out anything related to the study conducted for 5million dollars! This is highly unprofessional! A big kudos to PMB for noticing the lacuna. Invariably, this Environmental Audit being reported by the Auditor General was not properly done. How can $5million of the nation's resources be used in conducting a study and the Auditor General of the Federation is not interested in the study/its outcome. This is bizarre and shows the Auditor General is either not sound or not passionate about his role. Kudos to the president once again. But Mr President, using 15billion dollars to divert a River to the Chad Basin seems unreasonable to me. That amount is just too exorbitant. We may give the project a try, if the cost can be significantly reduced by more than 100 percent. If the cost cannot be reduced for more than 100%, then let the project wait till when we discover crude oil in the Chad basin, we will then use the proceeds to finance the daring project. |
KingTbecks:Akeredolu is better than Akinyelure who is Tinubu's right hand man. People wrongly think Akeredolu bows to Tinubu, but they are grossly mistaken. Akeredolu is very stubborn and has given Tinubu a lot of headache. Tinubu has been seriously clamouring support for Akinyelure as a minister. |
luchy34:He is a great achiever in his own little way. All what he has achieved so far including being a former governor and a nominated incoming minister is a lot to reckon with. His story is not yet ended, who knows what the future holds for him except God. He may still be the president of this great country. 30 yrs ago while languishing in detention for 3 good yrs, who would have believed that PMB can still be the president of this country and even in a democratic setting?? The bible says "1 Corinthians 15:41 ► There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differs from another star in glory." Mark Zuckerberg, Dangote, PMB, and the rest of them are all stars in their own way. Fayemi is an achiever in his own way as well! Everybody cannot be Zuckerberg, Dangote, etc The most important thing is to keep advancing, keep moving, if na book u fit read, continue reading it and adding as many degrees as u can, that may be the path to your own Glory! |
chukwudi44:There is no such law! Chai, u re more dull than I imagined. You don't even know the meaning of a law. |
nwadiuko1:It is not automatic. It is when the party files for a stay of execution of the lower court ruling and the appeal court grants such order for a stay of execution. It just seems automatic cos every lawyer knows this and file thus. |
AuntySusan:Naira has more value now than towards the end of GEJ era. |
neolboy:That is exactly what they challenged Wike to do. Lodge a case at a court of competent jurisdiction, not some silly panel that lacks the power to try a case. |
naijaking1:Wetin concern Lai Mohammed for this matter? It seems some APC stalwarts gives u guys nightmares to the extent that you blame them for almost every thing, and u express the strongest bile at them. An example is Tinubu and Lai Mohammed. There is nothing that a lot of u mofos will not make a Tinubu issue, to the extent that you are now a confused bunch sef. Happy that Fayemi and Fashola made the ministerial list because u ignorantly believed that they are indeed not Tinubu's candidates but at the same time envious that these Tinubu proteges continue to soar high. Your level of reasoning is amazing for u to think a whole State chapter of a political party will not be able to write a nice rebuttal to propaganda without recourse to the national publicity team for help. C'mon! Stop seeing Lai Mohammed in your dreams! You are not Olisa Metuh (I may be wrong, cos surprises abound on nairaland)Even your fake hero has moved on and just observing how events unfold, but u lots are still yet to recover. When we told u guys then that a lot of u will suffer nervous breakdown when PMB wins, u were throwing tantrums, abusing and cursing anything GMB/APC as if that is what will win the elections for u. Look at the nuisance u guys have turned to in the polity, wailing at every instant. ...and ascribing Tinubu and Lai Mohammed to your many sorrows at each turn. Finebone has given a splendid answer. But me i'll say Wike is not ignorant. He knows the probability of another election happening is 75% and he is having a headstart on political propaganda. |
Bevista:Thank u for this explanation. I learnt from it. This is the time all Nigerians need to join hands with PMB'S govt and tell the IMF off! We can chart the path for our own economy just like China's. With the way IMF is insistent on shoving this devaluation down our throat, I can see why a lot of big names that earlier worked with these organisations (IMF & World bank) never performed wonders with our economy. At this point in time, we need no big name and big CV that has any relationship whatsoever with these devils (IMF/world bank). What we need is local intelligence. The Chinese, Singaporeans, Indonesians all engaged their local intelligence in solving their economic quagmire. All the former this and that of IMF/world bank that worked for us, has already been radicalised in IMF/world's bank approach and doctrine and just unknowingly did the bid of their masters to the detriment of the Nigerian economy. What they gave us is an economy that grows only on paper and not in the real sense. This growth is not noticeable on the citizenry and their daily lives. Bevista:I think the reason for this is captured in this explanation from Bevista. The investors/investments that these former IMF gurus has been bringing are portfolio investments and not real investments that has a direct bearing on the lives of our citizenry! I like the fact that we are already tilting towards China. Although we have to play smart with them as well, as they are very cunny. The Chinese are investing heavily in our real sector. From building roads, railways, bridges, powerplants to investing massively in our telecommunication sector. Despite these strong commitments, they are not singing devaluation like a bird the way IMF is doing. |
AuntySusan:What is the premise of what u just said and it's connection to the story?? Has the naira being devalued during PMB's tenure?? |
I am wondering why everyone is concentrating only on Buruji's case and overlooking the fact that another House of Rep PDP guy also suffered same fate. |
Tribunal Nullifies Kashamu’s Election/PDP House of Rep's member Mr. Adekoya Adesegun The National and State Assemblies Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital has nullified the election of the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Mr Buruji Kashamu, and ordered a fresh election in 110 poling units. Delivering his judgement, the Tribunal Chairman said that the election was marred with irregularities and non compliance with the Electoral Law. The tribunal also nullified the election into the Federal House of Representatives from the area, won by the PDP being represented by Mr Adekoya Adesegun while it upheld three state House of Assembly elections. It dismissed two applications of the APC and ordered fresh election in five state constituencies. The Petition challenging Kashamu’s victory in the March 28 National Assembly elections, was filed by candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Dapo Abiodun. http://www.channelstv.com/2015/10/09/tribunal-nullifies-kashamus-election/ |
kinibigdeal:Keep overhyping Tinubu. Everything na Tinubu. Tinubu this, Tinubu that, abeg free the man. |
NgeneUkwenu:So on point! |
