Dhugal:I doubt that. The party was not barred from the election. |
NgeneUkwenu:Dont mind that noise maker and his fellow wailers on Nairaland. The election of Buruji Kashamu was upheld by the Appeal court this week. Wailers did not wail about that one. If na APC win now, na so so wailing on nairaland, on phone-in-programs on radio, newspaper stands, everywhere! Gawd! Their wailing is terrible now. I wonder if na their Babe PMB snatch. The election of the Senator representing Anambra central, Ekwunife was nullified based on the petition filed by the APGA, wailers were even still blaming Buhari for that one! Imagine, for petition filed by APGA that was successful. silly folks, dem wailers still dey blame our Presido. ![]() |
NgeneUkwenu:Sorry, na APC ![]() The court also ordered that the man should not be allowed to participate in future rerun. I hope APC replaces him with another better candidate. APC will sure win the rerun, as the new Gov Elect, Yahaya Bello is from that area. And they are still basking in the euphoria of one of their own being the governor of the state. I just hope they conduct the rerun before Faleke collects his mandate back from that Bello guy As the people go really vex for APC. |
Mynd44:Yes, I just confirmed it from another source. Which even gave better information as regards the party who was nullified and the party who filed the petition before the tribunal. Court Of Appeal Sacks APC Federal Lawmaker |
agabusta:Someone pls help me ask Vanguard which one is "Federal House of Assembly". Chai, Vanguard is becoming more useless by the day. |
Ex-Kogi Speaker sacked by Appeal Court The election of a former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Abdullahi Bello, into Federal House of Assembly has been upturned by an Appeal Court sitting in Abuja. Delivering judgement in an appeal filed against Bello by Hon. Tijani Damisa, the court ruled that election be conducted in Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal constituency within 90 days. The judgement also barred Abdullahi Bello from participating in the rerun election. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/12/ex-kogi-speaker-sacked-by-appeal-court/ OAM4J, Mynd44, lalasticlala |
Towmie:I hope events has not overtaken this, but it will always be here anyway for people to reference in the future. ISPON National office in Ikotun is a stone throw from Synagogue church, Ikotun. If you can get a direct bus from Berger to Ikotun then use that. At Ikotun, take a keke or bike to ISPON, which is beside First Royal Filling station, after Synagogue; and that is if you are coming from Ikotun side. If you cannot get Ikotun bus at Berger, go to Oshodi and then enter Ikotun. If you are coming from Oshodi side, you'll first get to the ISPON office before Synagogue. So once you sight Synagogue church ahead, alight, cross to the other side of the road and look for one First Royal filling station, ISPON building is beside the filling station. If you are planning to drive, its a little more complicated and it depends on if you are familiar with the route in these different areas that can link the place: via Dopemu/Cele bustop via Okota/ or through Mushin via Isolo road. |
cktheluckyman:Where was this promise made? Who made it? |
eugeneleejnr01:Oga keep quiet. INEC is an independent body. If PMB gets too close to them now, its people like u that will be screaming 'manipulation' to the high heavens. |
thundafire:Keep quiet! Which hole did u crawl out from?? You think governance is about ego and pride?? So because nobody has visited me and I have issues in my country I should not step out to look for opportunities?? The way some of u guys think is mind blowing. PMB went to US to relate with Obama so that he can facilitate the repatriation of Nigeria's looted funds. US has influence all over the world and if PMB succeeds in convincing Obama to help us, it go a long way in getting our funds back. We also need their military assistance and intelligence. These things don't come by displaying empty arrogance. PMB was invited by German Prime Minister to the meeting of the G8. That is the 8 most advanced countries in the world. If he went and established a good relationship with them do u know the enormous advantage tht can be to the country as regards mutual cooperation in the area of investment & security? He went to India based on Indian's invitation for a greater cooperation between Africa and India. There can be mutual benefits from such relationship if we play our cards well. India's economy is I think nos 4 in the world. Their military is nos 5 in the world. They are more advanced than Nigeria in medicine, technology, telecommunication technology and software engineering. All heads of state gathered for UN meeting in US and u mofos think it will be appropriate for PMB to absent himself. Same with the commonwealth heads of state meeting in Malta. Same with his security centred visits to Benin, Cameroon and Niger republic. He was equally with other heads of state for the meeting on climate change in France. Climate change is also affecting Nigeria. Part of the problems from the NE stems from climate change as reduction in the volume of lake Chad affected agriculture and fishing and has rendered a lot of people in that area idle and open to easy manipulation by the devilish Islamic sect. It is easier to brainwash idle and poor people. The attention of the energy sector is being shifted to gas, and PMB took it upon himself to make himself available for the gas summit in Iran, which even provided opportunity to interact with Heads of state of countries like Russia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, etc whose major source of income is the energy sector. Nigeria during the GEJ era has contracted a lot of our infrastructural projects to China and u think it makes sense to jaw China in an international rapport btw China and Africa. That would be a diplomatic error. China is granting us a lot of infrastructural loans and if we mange the Chinese very well, we may also be able to replicate the success story of China here in Nigeria. These trips are not fun trips. They are strictly business trips with very tight schedule. I even give PMB kudos that his health and physique can withstand the stress associated with regular air travels. |
nikkiking:When one has serious issues with his personal finance, growth and development, the person does not just sit at home lamenting and hoping things will change on its own. That is a very idiotic and lazy approach. One has to go out! One has to step out of one's shell. One has to make new friends and build new alliances. One cannot build investment relationship on the phone or through the internet. It has to be a one on one thing. These trips are not vacation trips. It is maybe u have not been doing long air travel that u don't know how tiring it can be. It will even be more stressful for him because of his age. He is trying all he can to ensure we get maximum advantage from our relationship with other foreign countries. Quit your individualism approach to breaking through. Those who make it exceedingly always do so through smart networking. |
nicefaze:CCT trial: S-Court decides Saraki’s fate Feb 5 By Ikechukwu Nnochiri ABUJA – The Supreme Court, today, fixed February 5 to determine the appeal seeking to quash the 13-count criminal charge that the Federal Government preferred against the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki before the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCT. A seven-man panel of Justices of the apex court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, adjourned to deliver judgment on the appeal after it entertained arguments from both Saraki and the Federal Government today. Saraki is facing trial over allegation that he falsely declared his assets, contrary to the constitutionally requirement. He was accused of deliberately manipulating the assets declaration form that he filed prior to his assumption of office as the Senate President, by making anticipatory declaration of assets, as well as, operated foreign bank account while in office as a public servant. The offence was said to have been committed while Saraki held sway as a governor. Whereas Saraki, through his team of lawyers led by Chief J.B.Daudu, SAN, prayed the apex court to quash the charge for want of competence, the government on the other hand, sought the dismissal of the appeal, insisting it has successfully established a prima-facie criminal case against the Senate President. While persuading the apex court to allow the appeal by halting Saraki’s trial, Daudu, SAN, relied on the provision of Paragraph 15(1) to the Fifth Schedule of the 1999 Constitution,as amended, and argue that the Justice Danladi Umar-led panel of the CCT was not properly and legally composed to try his client. He further argued that the CCT, not being a court that is constitutionally equipped with criminal jurisdiction, lacked the powers to dock the Senate President on the basis of the 13-count charge that is pending before it. “An attempt to make the CCT a court having criminal jurisdiction will have far reaching constitutional consequences” Daudu contended, adding that the tribunal was not among the courts established under Section 6 of the 1999 constitution. Besides, it was his argument that the fact that there was no substantive Attorney-General of the Federation as at the time the charge was filed, rendered it incompetent. However, while praying the Supreme Court to dismiss the appeal, government lawyer, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, relied on the provision of section 4(2)(b) of the interpretation Act, to insist that Saraki was properly charged before the CCT. Rotimi argued that going by the provision of section 284(4) of the Constitution, the two-members of the CCT panel, formed a quorum that can hear and determine the criminal case instituted against the Senate President by the federal government. After listening to all the parties, the CJN who headed the apex court panel, adjourned the matter for judgment. It will be recalled that a previous panel of the apex court headed by Justice John Fabiyi who is now retired, suspended further hearing on the case pending against Saraki before the CCT. The Justice Fabiyi’s panel which is now disbanded by the CJN, specifically directed the CCT panel to “tarry awhile”, to enable the apex court to hear Saraki’s appeal. http://linkis.com/www.vanguardngr.com/uGW1x |
Chai. Supreme court don fall hand. They have effectively rendered the CCT useless until they give their verdict. |
londongal03:Is Calabar no more Biafra? He was there in his first official assignment outside Abuja to flag off the construction of a super highway. |
I thought they said no mosque was burnt?? ![]() |
The place looks so neat and serene. How I wish that is how all police stations all over the country looks like. ![]() |
Good. But they must suffer some liability. All the Telcos treat Nigerian regulations with kid's gloves with the mindset that they can always settle compromised NCC officials. They must pay some fine! This will go a long way in instilling discipline in that sector. The lawlessness of those Telcos are just too much! After this current govt came on board, the Chief of Staff to the President met with the Telcos, while acting in capacity for the president and gave them stern warning to conform but that warning still fell on deaf ears. They thought it was business as usual. They didn't realise that there has been a regime change. This Administration surely has the capacity to take Nigeria higher. I thought the meeting was just one of those usual rhetoric, but I can now see that indeed they forewarned them and they are now ready to bite. Kudos to PMB. Pls continue bringing sanity to every sector of Nigeria. If your area of interest is yet to be touched, kindly exercise patience. PMB will surely get there. |
okomogo:You guys should leave Buhari out of this matter. The man made hateful, inciting and treasonable statements and he'll have his day in court for that. Nigeria is not a lawless country, he'll face the music of his actions. |
Obiagu1:It is by force until ALL the ethnic groups agree that it is time to go our separate ways. Any attempt to blackmail or stampede others will not work. |
ProfessorPeter:You defenders of looters. Your appeal to emotions will not work! Which Niger Delta are u calling?? Which Niger Delta did the High thief Dokpesi share his 2billion naira with? |
CACAWA:One of the thieves the GEJ led PDP administration allowed to escape justice. He was also a strong PDP charlatan. If it will be established that he also participated in the looting of our treasury, be rest assured that this administration will surely go after him. |
Obiagu1:It's a pity that u didn't demand for this infrastructure from GEJ for 6 yrs and till date you lots still believe he is the best thing to happen to Nigeria. But it is Buhari which u hate so much that u expect to miraculously turn around the infrastructure of the SE in 6 months. It's a pity that u are not demanding for this infrastructure from your governors who had been ruling u guys since the inception of democracy. The entire country is poo and bedevilled by numerous problems of unemployment, corruption, infrastructural decay, lack of love and patriotism, etc A lot of Igbos are just being brainwashed by people who tries to make this look like an igbo-only issue. Go to every part of this country, u will observe these decays. The day I realised Igbos are being brainwashed gradually was when I witnessed one loser lamenting. It was in VI, in Lag that I went to purchase a petty item from a roadside vendor and this man just sat there lamenting and cursing Azikwe for supporting igbos stay in Nigeria. This silly loser failed to look inwards for his failure but was looking for someone to pass the buck to. There are millions of highly successful igbo businessmen in Lag, but that one was still there blaming Azikwe. I just laughed and knew instantly that he is a fan of radio biafra. That is what that radio does to the psyche of its listeners. It tries to make them think the failings and poverty in Nigeria is caused by a hausa/fulani/yoruba instead of the particular group responsible - the thieving elite. The thieving elite are made up of all the ethnic groups. They are made up of all religions. I pray the enlightened Igbos shed the cloak of sentiments and emotions and tackle issues headlong. Where are all the infrastructure GEJ built in the SE? Where are all the infrastructure Anyim/Nnamani and the rest of them attracted to the SE? Where are all the infrastructure the powerful ministers like Okonjo and the rest of them of Igbo extraction brought to the SE? Where are the developments the Igbo governors brought to the SE? |
PDP wailer paper has come again. ![]() |
asis81:Serious uppercut for Saraki ![]() |
cruzyteejay:What are you saying It seems you just delved into this matter without having adequate information. We are giving the information that National newspapers sometimes have different headlines across different regions of the country. I equally cited my own case where I bought a paper in Lag and its headline differs from the one I saw in Abuja on getting there. It is not about the type of paper, it is across board on most National papers atimes. And it is an acceptable practice, otherwise the regulators would have clamped down on them. Which mistake are you talking about? |
Those shops surrounding the mosque may actually belong to Hausas. And may be their target. |
kITATITA:Well, investigators will get to that shortly. No need for anxiety. All the knots they thought they tied on the looted funds to make them too complex to unravel will be gradually sorted out. Btw Nobody cares whether you are a Buhari supporter or hater |
not4sure:I thought his half-baked lawyer said he didnt receive any payment?? |
This is getting more interesting. This Dokpesi guy may actually have a lot of skeletons in his cupboard. I remember that his name also came up during the independence day bombing of 2011 (abi na 2012?) |
cruzyteejay:You guys argue unnecessarily on nairaland. Instead of you to calm down and learn from those who have superior information, you are talking anyhow. I have personally bought a National daily in Lagos and then traveled to Abuja and saw that same news paper with a different frontpage. Try and make personal findings about issues before running your mouth. |
southniyikaye:...while the two parties call him a coward. They foolishly believe being wise, calm and calculative is cowardice. |
maupe:Cant seem to make sense of what you wrote. Kindly elucidate. |
