To really understand the feeling of acheivemnt of having a term baby i must first share teh birth of my son who was born very early in 2010. After many weeks of hospital bedrest and being diagnoised with preeclamsia, gestational diabetes and Incompetent cervix it had all come to a fitting conclusion on July 14, 2010 when i went into labor and the decision was made not to stop it because of all the complications i was facing. I was terrified of having my baby so early the neonatologist came in told me he had a 70% chance of making it, i burst into tears at this and was so incredibly upset. A few hours later I gave birth to my son , when he was born their was no crying, he was taken away i did not see him so the neonate team can start to work on him after 5 minutes my sister went to see him and she said he was breathing with the ventilator. I got to see him a few hours later and he was the smallest thing i have ever seen, i cried i felt like such a failor seeing him suffer and not being able to carry him to term. Our NICU stay was 3 months filled with ups and downs @ 31 weeks he had surgery and that was very difficult time also. Finally around his due date in October 29, 2010 he was released and we went home to start our lives as a family. Today he is a happy and healthy 32 month old. Fast forward to MArch 2013 and the birth of my little girl at 38 weeks. It was a scheduled csection and my pregnancy with my little girl was very uneventlful till the end. We got to the hospital at 6:30am for a 8:00 am scheduled csection was a little nervous but excited to have a full term baby and take a baby home this time around. The section went well when they advised i will feel pressure i certainly did and the next moment i herd my little girl screaming, i could not beleive it felt like a movie OMG i had a baby and herd its cry, it was so magical and wonderful at that moment my dream of carrying a child to term came true, it was wonderful and amazing. Her apgars where perfect, i got to hold her and see her right way it was all so great. I recovered well and was sent home a few days later only to return to the hospital as my blood pressure went up and was diagnoised woth post partum preeclamsia, im back home now recovering. I know this is very long but thanks for reading. |
what about tonto? |
Thank you all and you got it right tgirl her name is Grace |
hi everyone i am feeling better im on BP meds and although its still a little high its under control, until it goes back to normal. @monie CONGRATS on your LO!!!! my son was born early and spent time in NICU so i am hoping for a very short uneventful stay for your LO. I also lived in Calgary for a bit until i moved back to Toronto to be closer to my family, its actually very nice out west. i am glad they caught it in time and LO is doing well, next pregnancy you just need to make you OB aware that you had high BP in the last pregnancy and possibly baby was IUGR because of it @Audrey and ID princess I am sorry for you loss i also had losses this last pregnancy was my 5th pregnancy and i only have 2 living children to show for it, but g-d is good and ever faithful. How many weeks where you when you lost the pregnancies if you dont mind me asking, thats important cause it can give insight to what the potential problem is? It looks like your antnatal care next time needs to be focused around keeping the pregnancy viable and you need to discuss this with your OB. If its a first trimester losses have them check your progeesterone levels, also next pregnancy try to have them check your hcg levels are doubelling accordingly. Now if its a second trimester loss then thats a little more complex it could be cervix related and that can be monitured by doing frequent cervix checks next pregnancy. I know the frustration and heartach of loss, but let me tell you g-d will restore your sorrow and give you joy in abundance!!!!!! My sister dont dismay you will hold your baby in this lifetime! (((hugs)) |
hi everyone, i promise to catch up a little later and read the post just wanted tto share what has happened to me since i last posted. I left the hospital on bp meds as my pressure was a little high. well i didnt feel right on monday so i checkd my bp it was 187/113 i took my meds and even doubled the dosage it did not go down, i called my DR she said go to the hospital and i did when i got their it went up further 202/130, they began to IV push meds into my system afraid i would have a stroke, heart attack or seizure at any moment. The med did not work enven maxed out on the dosage and my bp would not go down. Anyways they decided to do a cocktail of BP meds and it brought it down. Im sharing this because preeclamsia can happen up to 6 weeks after you deliver. I thank g-d im still here to share this story with you ladies and although my bp is not low right now it is still manageble and hopefully will be back to its original values soon enough and the meds im taking are helping out. |
Thank you all @mynd44 i will send the address once we return to Nigeria in a few months lol @jenny he is already jealous and not adjusting to well at all his dad and I are laughing at him and telling him to get over it but he is taking his time. |
Hello, My NL family and friends just wanted to share in the good news of the arrival of our little girl born on tuesday weighing in 7 pounds 11 ounces. We are truely blessed and so greatful to g-d for his goodness and blessings upon our family. |
Hi everyone, I will read through what i missed once i am strong enough, just wanted you lovely ladies to know i had my little girl at 38+5 via csection on tuesday, she weighed in at 7 pounds 11 ounces we had to stay a little longer as my blood pressure went up so high, im on medication at home now and it is going down slowly. Thank you all for the positive vibes and prayers. |

ifyalways: LMAO |
glad to hear things worked out for you. |
MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
@OP sex is normally safe during pregnancy unless you have complications where you DR has advised that you refrain from having sex. If you are having a normal problem free pregnancy then it should be ok to have sex with your hubby. |
Yes ooo, 2 days to go, cant wait just running around doing some last minute preparations and organizing things for my son so he's ok for the few days will be in the hospital. |
congrats to them |
wow that number is alarming. |
@audrey wheni was on Nigeria i took pregnancare with teh Omega 3 fish oil and that is just fine, no problem with it at all and i would recommend it too others. Now i am taking materna as im back home in Canda for a while and pregnacare is not available here. @tjski well the biggest thing that pre dispose us to preeclamsia is our race we are black and black femals have a much higher incedence of pre eclamsia. Whe i went to teh hospital a few days ago a nurse of over 30 years told me exactly "with pre eclamsia you black girls present so sevearly" and my periontologist also told me ill get pre eclamsia again because im black. Its our race that is the biggest downfall for us. Really and truely the best we can do is to modify out diet eat less salt, and do routine antenatal and listen to your DR advice please most people dont they will opt for spititual or traditional advice and end up loosing their lives, ive seen it happen so i want women to take a practical approach to this problem and be aware of it in their own pregnancies and also their friends, aquaintances etc. |
sexyshe: Thanks for your comment, but it did scare me,I am 29 weeks pregnant,my bp is 120- 80 anytime I go for antenatal, was told trace in the urine is ok aslong as my bp does not rise.I pray its nothing anyway, don't hav headache or blured vision but I do hav swollen feet.I was told to come back in two weeks time. Its good they are watching you closely and your bp is not that high. 120 (systolic)-80(diastolic) is ok the 80 is just borderline high. Here is the simple truth if the diastolic goes over 90 then it becomes a concern, and if it goes over 110 they usually deliver right away in my country. As a health care professional i am very nervous about pre eclamsia, having suffered from it in my first pregnancy and delivering my son very early. So anyways i have had trace since about 29 weeks im now 38 weeks and it has not changed, bp goes up and down but g-d has seen me through to have a full term baby this time, so its possible it does not progress and remain trace untill you deliver. I want you to be aware of how things can go a realistic overview. Moving forward i would even go in weekly just for them to check your bp and urine. Also depending on progression i would als do frequent scans and let the sonographer know you have high bp so he knows what to look for. My sister i dont want to scare you i just want you to be informed. I have seen to much of this pre eclamsia in Nigeria and the effects. |
greatgod2012: See this woman, you want to come and reap where you did not sow, abeg, carry your frustration comot for his life joor!WSS |
Once you have done the evacuation you are most fertile the first 3 months after so most likely you will get pregnant quickly. Good luck hun sending positive energy and prayers your way. |
well stroke is best treated with 30 min of the initial stroke, they would have to identify where the stroke took place and remove teh clot. If the time has elapsed the best cure is non physio therapy and occupational therapy he need to go to rehab. |
rip little angle. this is a difficult lesson but never but small children or children in car seats in the front of the car and most parents dont even buckle their kids seatbelts to make the matter worse. |
sexyshe: My urine was tested and the result was trace of protein ,I don't understand what it means can someone pls explainAudrey is right now that is a sign of preeclamsia a very serious and deadly pregnancy related complication. Please dont take this lightly, we have shared stories of women that have died from this complication on this thread. On monday i also tested for trace proteins in my urine my BP was also slightly elevated, so my DR has me coming back in tommorrow and if BP is still high i will deliver right away and not wait for the 5 days remaining until my scheduled csection. Now here are some things to keep in mind and I want to know are you haveing any of the following symtoms: 1.) high bp 2.) blurred vision 3.) headaches 4.) pain in the right side of your chest, just under your breast 5.) swelling of the hands, feet or face Those are all sign of preeclamsia, so please persue your Dr to run more test on you and if you are in Nigeria and close to 37 weeks or more then just deliver you right away. Your DR should runt he following test to start 1.) liver function test 2.) 24 hour urine to check the amount of protein in the urine 3.) also all the standard bun, urea, cratine kidney test 4.) platlet count Preeclamsia affects so many organs and thats why multiple test are often needed to determine the severity of it. Now that i have scared you, lets talk about the good thing, it is possible to remain with only trace protein and not develop preeclamsia it can go either way really but to air on the side of caution please take it seriously. Good luck and keep us posted. |
ogugua88: As terrifying as this news is, it was something else that caught my eye. How can the rising number of AIDS be partly attributed to a rising number of youths becoming homosexuals? I fail to see how that mention is remotely relevant. HIV/AIDS is not a "gay disease". Homosexual or not, Nigerians have unsafe intercourse. Even if the number of homosexuals in Nigeria went down, the rate of HIV/AIDS contraction will continue to rise until more people are monogamous and use condoms, which is currently the ONLY contraceptive that can prevent HIV/AIDS if used regularly and properly (excluding abstinence).Although it is not a "gay disease" the incedence among individuals who are "gay" is higher, that has been statistically proven. Back int he 1980's when HIV was made know it was then considered to be a "gay" disease and was mostly found among individuals who practised homosexuality. This was then thought to be caused by the lifestyle most homosexuals live, i.e having multiple partners and not using protection when engaging in sexual intercourse. So if the occurance of HIV positive is higher among gays it truely does not surprise me. |
yes i beleive names have an impact on life |
blank: My son has not acted maturely at all. He still beats his younger brother and is very jealous of any attention shown his brother.Ohh my goodness, hopefully he will get over it soon enough. |
I feel for you. If you want to stay in this marriage then you got to make some changes in yourself, so you can maintain your sanity and rebuild your self worth. It seems like you have lost yourself to an extent because everything in teh marriage is all about your hubby and revolves around him which is wrong and it should be about the two of you as a married couple, You need to start by empowering yourself, do you have any skills, you seem educated so its possible to get a reasonable job or start your own business and become more self reliant, that is the start of course. That way you can give to your family without hubby being directly involved. From getting your own income you can begin to do other things that bring joy in your life. Do you have any children? Its not doing you any good being depressed about this husband daily, regain your own happiness, work on becoming the sourse of your own true happiness and not hubby, so that way if he does good or bad it wont matter because you are your own true source of happiness. Truthfully op if i where you i would get hubby to assist in starting a business for me and begin to have some savings incase of anything that may come along in the future. |
Well what exactly do you want to do next. Forget about it and move on, get someone more responsible if househelp is a must for you. |
