First of all, she can't get that letter for him in Nigeria. She'll have to go back to her state in Germany to get it.

Secondly, he is not her responsibility. All she needs to do is hand him the letter and he is left to fend for himself, accommodation and all what not inclusive. Not like she is really gonna be checked upon from time to time to know if she is feeding him well or not.

As for getting jobs, you'll have to get there first or hear more from guys over there. Use facebook to find Nigerians in his city. I used that too.

As for beating time, he can use a block account to attend his interview while hoping that his messiah travels back to Germany on time to get him the letter.

Based on your second response, officially he is her responsibility. and she is wise for asking about how he plans to sustain himself when he gets to Germany. In a situation, the student turns to social benefit or in any trouble. THE SPONSOR BEARS THE ADMINISTRATIVE, LEGAL AS WELL AS MEDICAL COST. This is inscribed in the Residence Act 67 & 68

It is better for him to iron it out before she goes and make application for it. she will be informed at the point of getting the SL. and I know a lot of Germans that decline to sponsor after they got to know the legal implication of sponsoring someone.

Tipp: If you can show her some money in your account that you are planning to travel with, so you have something to finance your expenses for a few months before getting your foot on the ground. She might be convinced that you won't put her in any story that touches the heart.

Boss, on the average how long does it take to get a work permit after arriving. ( all things being equal).

This depends on which jurisdiction your city registration/foreign office falls under. For some small town or registration area, you can register your house and proceed to the immigration office for your visa extension (i.e resident and work permit inclusive) all within one week. A temporary permit will be issued to you pending the time your card will be produced. with this, you can work legally.

In other cases, you need to book an appointment to even register your house or visit the immigration for visa extension and this can take between one to four months on the average.

To clarify my explanation.... in the Hauptstadt KIEL these process takes between one to four months on the average to issue a resident/work permit. Funny enough there are some suburbs around KIEL (10 to 15 minutes by bus) where the process of house registration and issuance of the resident/work permit is just within a week (No appointment is needed here)

Tip: Relate with folks living in your destination city... There might be a way to fasten the process likewise to get some hustle in the meantime.

There are some jobs you don't need any registration for Z.b UMZUGHILFE (Moving Help) and some more... (relate with kind guys in your destination city for OT)....

Secondly, to the issue of certification... Eke explained the basic standard.., Although some schools are not so strict about it (even some don’t require any sent documents) while some insisted on certification only from the embassy...
To reduce time and probably financial cost most people used Court certification with just a stamp... (100% legit)

Please another question.. As we all know, most of us cant easily afford the blocked account and may have to use our entire savings to pay for that one year. This means that the next year will be funded by either what you are able to save up from the hours of work allowed in Germany or if you have people that can send you money. Now my question please:

1) Is the "120 days of full time work" allowed enough to fund the second year of blocked account?
2) I read that they do not even allow using online work to supplement your income..Do this mean you can't do freelance work or trade binary options or forex?
3) What other options do people that make it to Germany have for coping with this second year especially as we all know that getting that part time job isnt easy?

For No 1 and 3

If you r lucky to get a job in time (before your block Acct enter red) when you get to Germany and prudent enough with your spendings, then you should be able to build your blocked Acct back to 8k or even more...

A work contract also works fine.... (if you get a job)

NB. For my city with just 4- 5k (which is not required to be blocked) you get another year.

N.B This is city dependent and the kind of circles you keep. You can get friends to loan you money (so far you not blocking) for one of two weeks... you only need statement of account (s) to show the Ausländerbehorde for extension... You need to be smart with this... no loop hole


For No 2

It’s always adviced to open another Acct for such or better still get money by hand.. (international students are not allowed to do most freelance job) and even if you get permission to do it then you pay Tax at the end of the year... and you know tax evasion is a serious crime here.

I have just paid for a one way ticket to Germany thereafter, the travel agent through which I booked my flight are insisting that I pay for a return ticket because the student visa is Valid for 3months, even after explaining to them that the visa will be extended in Germany.

Please for those of you that travelled to Germany with a one way ticket recently,kindly let me knw how you managed the situation.

Dont worry yourself.....tell the travel agent that you have a long stay visa which can be extended once you are in Germany.....and stand your point ......
Finally, make your admission letter handy while travelling.....Du hast kein problem.

It is your choice either you transfer or pay cash but preferably you come with 300 euro(caution fees)...you only need to pay the caution before you will be handed the key.

NB. for those coming to Christian Albrechts University (CAU) and with an admission offer already, you can mail Claudia Sheen (csheen@uv.uni-kiel.de) , she works at the international center and , she will definitely assist with hostel.
@Chrisley024 you can also mail her..(CAH should be your last option, My personal opinion though)... Tschus.....

The confusion was on distance from campus cos I saw 2km, 1km...and living on campus. I'm looking at Studentendorf, Prof Anshütz Haus etc from the Studentenwerk site since I guess accomodation from studentenwerk is better.
Better to go for furnished room or to furnish by oneself?

Material science department is far from all the hostels ....so forget about the distance..., furnished rooms are preferable......though CAH is among the cheapest but its kinda old and located a lot distance from the school/supermarket n co...

With whatever you are earning as salary + 24Eur per day, I think you should be more than OK.

You need not to open or fund a blocked account.

However, if the embassy still want you to do so, expect them to send you a mail instructing you to do such. But I don't anticipate that.

If it happens they insist and you don't have money to fund a blocked account, you may need to prove your case maybe by submitting your payslips/account statement...and perhaps, you involve your sponsor.

For now, keep calm and hope for the best.

To buttress your point 670 euro divide by 30days equals 22.33euro......thats for us with blocked account...with 24euro per day the guy should be ok.......though the authority no wan hear say you go manage or anything...but had it been the guy remember/know this calculation na shut up e go be for the VO.......
