Goldencheese: Although Tinubu is up against formidable opposition, he is also a master at the game. He may survive it. Albeit, we need a competent, well-educated detribalised Nigerian to lead Nigeria away from the empty political promises syndrome and rot created by this government.
Buhari disappointed Nigerians big time. You give Tinubu too much credit sir.. If he's as sagacious and astute as you all say, he wouldn't have supported PMB's second term considering the shabby treatment he received during his first term.. So, where is his political smarts? But then, his political aspiration and lust for federal power seem to have beclouded reasoning |

soojar: Usually hide to read Jackie Collins then (couldn't afford to let my sisters catch me reading their books not to talk of one with those kind of vivid contents). For the Jefferey Archer, you need to complete the series, the next one after Prodigal daughter is "Shall we tell the president?" Jefferey Archer is a story teller, his short stories too are solid. My best from him so far is still "Not a penny more, not a penny less" I can also go for "honor among thieves" Thanks for the updates on Jeffery Archer.. Will get those too.. |

GabrielYulaw: My apologies. I can't really guess ages from photos. I actually thought you were in your late twenties or early thirties. If I talked down to you it really wasn't intentional. I apologise.
When I used to go to church, our pastor banned all youths from reading James Hardley Chase books cos of the pics on the cover, so I can relate about what you said about you and your dad. Thank you.. You"re among several people who think I'm in early 30s.. I guess good genes from my folks, healthy living and Grace as we would say in this part of the world contribute to that.. Thanks again 1 Like |

AreaFada2: I liked them years ago. But looking back, they are simplistic.
My favorites are Guy de Maupassant, Gustave Flaubert, Tonie Morrison, Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Bronte sisters, Alexandre Dumas, Charles Dickens, Wolfgang von Goethe, Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, James Joyce, W. B. Yeats, Jonathan Swift and Guenter Grass.
Irish writers are just too good. Good list you have here but most of the authors you listed Charles Dicken Emile Bronte Jonathan Swift WB Yates etc and classic writers in Literature...As a graduate of English Language/ Literature, l read those as part of my course of study.. By the way, my favorite classic literature writer is Thomas Hardy...His ' Mayor of Casterbridge' and '. Tess of D'Urberville' are pure delight.. |

GabrielYulaw: How old are you dear? Back then there was nothing like the internet and Nigerian parents totally didn't sit their kids down and talk to them about the birds and bees. Get my drift?
That meant that a lot of us learned about sex and love making from books. Harold Robbins' books were adult as sin and very detailed in the raunchy stuff. Jackie Collins not so much.
I learned more about birds and bees from Robbins, I guess the opposite was true for you. I guess you have the impression I'm a kid or indomie generation the way you talk down to me...( I find your comment offensive by the way).. And for the record, l was 46 in May.. I read my first novel (James Hardly Chase) in 1985 when l was in primary 6..Had to hide it from my dad because the rauchy picture of the model in lingerie on the cover page would make my dad think it was porn.. So, l know what I'm talking Novels were and still are my things.. |

GabrielYulaw: Not true. Jackie inserts a lot of comic relief in her books, like someone leaving a pile of fresh shit on another person's desk in Hollywood Wives. Harold Robbins doesn't do that. In my opinion, he's far superior to Jackie. It's like comparing Naomi Campbell to Tiwa Savage. I meant, Harold Robbin's language and diction flow so greatly.. ( that's what I believe they have in common) Unlike Jackie Colin who is so foul-mouthed with ecletic multiple characters ( 0ne madder than the next) In fact , most of Jackie colin novels should be rated 18.. Damn! She's so graphic and paints the craziest picture in one's head.. I also like how she creates a character and builds on him or her through about 5 novels.. Like the Lucky/, Dino Santagelo, Lennie Golden,, Stanislopous, SAntino Bonatti, etc.. She developed those fictious chracters all through 5 novels and at a point i almost believed Lucky santagelo is real.. Actually, an American writer-friend told me Lucky Santagelo is actually the real life of Jackie Colin. |

GabrielYulaw: Wow! we share much of the same tastes. For me, Dan Brown's Inferno had to be the most gloriously amazing book of the 21st century. It's sublime to the highest. Kane and Abel was endlessly amazing and awesome and Jackie Collins' Hollywood Wives is A-class. As for Robert Ludlum, dude is in a class of his own. He's one of my top 5 writers of all time, along with Tom Clancy, Mario Puzo, T.H. White and Harold Robbins. Tom Clancy, the war writer.. Mario Puzo: The Mafioso writer... I love his Don Corleon saga! Harrold Robbin to me is the male version of Jackie Colin.. rauchy stories and unapologetically foul mouthed.. Purely for adults especially jackie Colins 1 Like |
