PoliticsRe: What Can Nigerians Learn From The Egyptian Uprising by akinalabi(m): 6:53pm On Feb 03, 2011
Kobojunkie:
Well, I also remember the very few, mostly AGBEROS who took it on themselves to go fight army/police. Those, I really don't think worth mentioning since it is common sense that if you go after armed men with bottle, cutlass, and knifes, chances are you will likely get killed.

I do hope you also remember the millions who ran home (back to villages) then too? Do you remember why we experienced that? Or have you completely blanked that long stand still (at least a whole month of it) out completely? If you do remember a bit of it, then I suggest you also find something who has his/her eyes wide open then to better help jug your memory on what really took place then.
Knew you would come that low.

Kobojunkie:
I also remember those thousands on the streets on that day, and the riots that followed. I also remember how it turned out that many of those who were beaten and killed were attacked by their neighbors, and friends, and not necessarily by the Army, and the police. I also remember, that thousands of people packed up and fled, not away from the army, or away from the police, but away from their neighbors and their friends  to the safety of their mother's villages.
Well, me I remember the beating and killings by the army and police while you remember the ones by friends and neighbours.

I agree with Kobokunje that, unlike the Egyptians, Nigerians have not taken to the streets en masse to protest their government.
I remember thousands on the streets after June 12. Not just in Lagos but even in my town, Ibadan. We were beaten and some were killed.

Wasnt well covered by CNN like this Egypt matter.

SportsRe: Who Is The Most Qualified Coach Between Stephen Keshi And Samson Siasia? by akinalabi(m): 9:16am On Nov 01, 2010
Looking at their resumes Keshi is well ahead of Siasia. D guy has managed at senior level and delivered results. Siasia has a resume that does not go beyond age grade level internationally. Even his domestic club profile isn't particularly thick. But despite this, if it comes down to these 2 then there is no real choice. It only makes sense to hire Siasia.

Lets face facts. Most super eagles fans believe that Siasia is d only capable indigenous coach we have. If Keshi is given the job he will not have the goodwill of the fans or the media. The very first moment he even stumbles, the usual suspects will start calling for his head and putting ridiculous pressure and constraints on his ability to do his job. The time that should be afforded him to build a new team while delivering good performances and results will not be given to him. The press will assault him with all sort of negative stories and the fans who never wanted him in the first place will hound him out of the job. These are pressures that I don't think Siasia will face as he has earned a tremendous amount of goodwill from the public. Most fans will show more patience and understanding that is required, with a Siasia in charge. When Amodu said our home based weren't ready to brought straight into d national setup, d press and fans almost ate him alive. But when Siasia said d exact same thing early during his negotiations with d NFF, the same people that crucified Amodu, agreed with Siasia. Better we give Siasia d job and then see how he does.
BULLSEYE!

You're a very wise person.

Car TalkRe: Will You Buy Chinese made Cars? by akinalabi(m): 6:43pm On Jul 31, 2010
If they keep at it, one day, we will be buying them.

I remember when I was much younger, my dad and his friends used to laught at those that bought Japanese cars.

Now we love them.

The 20 years ago, no one wanted korean cars. They are not as accepted as Japanese cars but they are no longer taboos.

We don't know what the future holds. Personally, I'm a kind of person that never puts anything down so we may be buying them later.

It seems serious work is about to begin at the third roundabout.

Noticed this morning that diversions were created overnight for Epe bound traffic at the round about.

Looks like the roundabout is going to be re-configured like the first round about was. I hope it won't take as long though!
Saw it this morning as well.

Really hope it wont be a loong tin
SportsRe: Paul The Octopus Predicts Spain To Win World Cup by akinalabi(m): 9:53pm On Jul 12, 2010
wealthlift:
@Akin Alabi,

I think you are wrong here.

Paul predicted that Spain would win, And so it was.

There has been no time he gave analysis of what form the winnings will be.

It's normal to play extra time in soccer when winning is a must for the match. So, he is right,

Give him that little credit, regardless of where his powers are coming from
You sure didnt grab my gist with dayokanu.

Those that bet on Spain to win following paul LOST MONEY because in bookmaking terms, the
match ended in a draw.

Paul normally predicts German games only, People are forcing it to predict for others thats outside his area of specialisation
You're right there. Some business interests must have gone into this.

wealthlift:
@ice234, He has never been wrong anytime, Where he gets its power from, I dont know
He's been wrong in the past.

If I'm right, he pridicted during Euro 2008 that Germany would beat Spain in final but Spain won.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Are There Still Jobs Out There? by akinalabi(m): 2:15pm On Jun 28, 2010
Yes, there are still jobs out there.

What we dont have aplenty are high paying jobs. We also do not have too many people qualified for jobs. We have "general applicants" with no special skills.

BusinessRe: Do I Need To Register With Any Association To Be Able To Publish A Magazin? by akinalabi(m): 6:32pm On Jun 03, 2010
Godmother:
Hi, Oseenice, before you register the mag with National Library (which you can get here in Yaba), you will have to register the mag as a publishing company first with CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) at Oregun Ikeja.

For Instance, if your magazine is going to be called ESSENSE , you would have to register a company name like OJB Publishing Limited and publish ESSENSE under OJB.
WRONG!

Any registered company or business name will do. Even if you have a business name called Okafor Trading Enterprises, you can publish a magazine and call in ESSENCE and it will be allowed at the National Library
