Angelfrost:
No new cases, no deaths... They can relax the lockdown and ease back to normal economic activities before anarchy sets in... There's a limit to what an average Nigerian can take.

They can however, maintain border closure or censure to prevent importing new cases into the state...

7 to 14 days are enough for the very sick to show symptoms, and be well quarantined... That's the essence of 14 day lockdown... Besides, without massive testing across the nation, lockdowns no matter how long, are a waste of time.
Thats actually the main concern. If you watch foreign news and see the way the disease is dealing with far more advanced economies, you see why It's clearly too early to be relaxing the lockdown.

And yes I appreciate the gov also has to weigh the possibllity of anarchy as more and more people get disaffected if lockdown is prolonged. It's a difficult catch 22 situation.

[s]It’s time to get going again!! Shutting down is only causing more fear and panic!! I want my life back!! Give people the therapeutic drugs if they show symptoms, a week off work is better than MONTHS MORE OF BEING CLOSED DOWN!!! This is a slippery slope to socialism, and I don’t like it!!
Coronavirus was manufactured by a Canadian company, smuggled to a military lab in Wuhan by two chinese spies where it was weaponized. It was then released on the order of the WHO and UN secretary general and Illuminati Cult
I don't trust a damn thing coming from the NAFDAC. Got a headache, take this...it will help, but possible side effect include explosive diaharea and death. But they approved it. Tell who is really getting paid off by big pharma.[/s]

Ncdc should not mind the useless unpatriotic elements.

If Airtel and the likes can give 10 free SMS a day why is it not possible to send those messages free? In fact part of the ring tone is a 30 second message about covid which is also free
Health › Re: 22 New Cases Of Coronavirus In Nigeria. Total Of 276. 6 Deaths, 44 Discharged by alezzy13: 3:54am On Apr 09, 2020
Investnow2017:
The approach recommended is Test, Test, Test

Here are the test performances of a few countries as at 8th April:

US - 2,100,000
Russia - 910,000
Germany - 1,310,000
France - 220,000
Spain - 355,000
Nigeria - 5,000
Italy - 807,000
Brazil - 54,000
Vietnam - 110,000
UK - 282,000
S.Korea - 477,000
Australia - 310,000
UAE - 590,000
Canada - 348,000
Israel - 117,000
Turkey - 247,000
Belgium - 84,000
Switzerland - 171,000

Now compare Nigeria 5,000 tests against a population of 200m and see the percentage in relation to other countries above.

Are we doing enough tests? Even Niger Republic has done close to 5,000 tests! You can see them up above Nigeria in the table.
This 5000 I likely an estimate. I don't think it correct.

Not true. Sanders is hard left. Hard left are not as passionate as right wing in America. Support of hard left is far less even within Democrats ranks never mind Republicans.

Trump wanted Sanders. Although they will now claim Biden was always their preferred opponent. grin

Sanders had no chance of getting Sanders had no chance of getting even moderate republican voters.
Spot on. Biden obviously has his issues, but he's the best bet against Trump. No surprise he's never really attacked Sanders the way he did Biden.

With fears (perhaps unfounded) that Sanders might up breaking up or worse nationalize the corporate giants, raise taxes or even plunge country to unsustainable debt on account of his welfarism ideas, he never really appealed to those outside his core hard-left base.

Well we hope so, but I think it's too early to tell. I believe you need to have 5-7days of CONSISTENT DECLINE in cases with widespread testing before you can say for sure.

One thing is clear however, the virus is not proliferating here at the scale of Europe and likes, thankfully.

Susan Okpe, a UK returnee is the first victim of COVID-19 in Benue State. She returned from UK last week.
Addressing the press over the index case, Governor Samuel Ortom stressed that the essence of revealing the identity of the victim is to help those who had close contact with her to sef-isolate and present themselves for testing. Hope the Federal Government learns from this.

A million thanks to the moderator who took her time to bless people today. I got the alert and I was glad we have Nairalanders who still show love to others.
On retrieving the cash, I went to the nearest market to get foodstuffs. We shared them as best as we can for people who honestly need those foodstuffs.
I understand that we all need money, but it will not be bad if you also bless someone with 1k from what you received freely.
Even the one blessed with 1k can also bless another little child with #100. And on and on it spreads.
J111333, they have already prayed all the possible prayers and even prayer points has finished. One day I believe, we both will outstretch our arms in love to those who need them. We will be financially stable enough to feed and cater for a whole territory. It doesn't matter the geography of influence, as long as the LORD reigns this will surely happen.
Gracias.

Look at this nonsense you are vomiting. Why don't they follow the strict standard on their citizens. Our bodies and theirs ain't d same

Pfizer did same people died
@bolded, really? Whats the difference?

In clinical trials, you want to use a naiive population as much as possible to be sure what ever effect you observe is actually due to the drug or vaccine.

In their countries, they already have controls in place, so it will difficult to test the actual action of vaccine.

People just hyperventilating over nothing. The French doctor is actually right, though he may have come off a tad racist

Even if the trial is to be held in Africa, there are strict and standard protocols that must be followed. It's not as if they just go and adminisiter it to anybody.

As usual trashy reporting from PM. By definition, a case can only be confirmed if a lab test is carried out. I wonder how the chairman got to know it's confirmed.
