jaxxy: Trump was right again as usual. Indeed. Like he was right when he said the virus was a hoax by democrats to hurt his chances? Or when he said 'its just the flu'? Or when he said it will be it will be over in a few weeks time? Or when he initially said there was testing for anyone needing it (false)? Not surprised. Like master like servant. |
Health › Re: US Approves Chloroquine For Treating Coronavirus by alezzy13: 7:09pm On Mar 30, 2020 |
linearity: How did Trump talked about it before and FDA shy away from it?
The initial information that Trump put out was from FDA. FDA provided that info that, they see evidence that those drugs had some positive response in treating covid-19, but they are conducting clinical trials before approving it.
Trump went out and falsely stated that FDA has approved it, the FDA had to come out and state that they have not approved it for COVID-19 treatment and that they are conducting clinical trials. The FDA even fast tracked the trials skipping many steps.
If you want to give credit to anyone, it should be to the FDA who are worked behind the scene for the clinical trials and NYC who provided test patients and cases. Trump was trying to get cheap publicity points by announcing it before the completion of the trials and this lead to some deaths worldwide and even in the US....because without the clinical trials, no one knows the recommended dosage and routine that would be effective against COVID-19...but people ignorantly state following Trump’s address and took the drug without recommendations leading to deaths, poisons and some complications.
Trump is not a doctor, don’t take drug recommendations from him. He is a politician and very optimistic for a favorable outcome and fast ones too, so to improve his re-election chances...so his advices will be biased just like here and wouldn’t be objective. I wish I could give this 1000 likes. The level gullibility (or sheer stupidity) of his followers is astounding. Rather than face his spectacularly abysmal handling of the epidermic during the early days which has led to the crisis currently being faced, he sought to deflect attention by making unfounded claims. Now 'they' are claiming he's the hero. Kai. |

saajus: News media should caution people from talking about Chloroquine until it has been clinically proven. 1 person last week died of Chloroquine overdose in the US . Trump started this problem. Let's remember how people got overdosed on aspirin during the Spanish flu Thank you o jare. He's playing on the desperation of the vulnerable for cheap popularity, which is callous of him. Just like he did with the media, he's making it seem FDA is against the people while he's the 'liberator.' FDA have not stopped off-label use, but before they can give the seal of approval, the drug must pass through very rigorous test and trials. The fact that a drug worked on a few people doesn't really tell us much, especially when it's not done in a controlled trial where potential confounders are eliminated. |

A lot of emotionally charged comments here largely fueled by their hatred the man. Yet only few based on logic
Not also a fan of him, but he made some sense.
All those harping inflation seem to forget we are in unusual times, and if care not taken, the economy will grind to a halt.
Many states have shut down, and more will follow.
And mind you, but this is a shut down that could last well into May. So what happens to the average businessman?
Eg, Emeka the spare parts dealer will have a shop filled with goods, but no money (cash) due to zero patronage as a result of closure. So not only is he not making money, he's also not SPENDING MONEY. Question is, how do QUICKLY get money into Emekas hand so that he can have money to spend?? |

Health › Re: Coronavirus: Why Is NCDC Not Showing The Number Of People Tested? by alezzy13: 6:45pm On Mar 26, 2020 |
Validated: The National Centre for Disease Control reportage of cases in Nigeria is suspect and lack transparency. I think that this is not the time for propaganda and misinformation or disinformation. Misinformation and the poor reportage make people to be lackadaisical and not take the pandemic serious. A very vital MISSING information on the NCDC report is Number of Patients tested. The standard world wide is as follows
Number Tested xxxxx Number of Confirmed Cases xxxxx Number of Active Cases xxxxx Number of cases resolved xxxxx Number of deaths xxxxx
If you look at the NCDC report below, you would agree with me that Number of people tested is MISSING and this is a critical piece of information. It is frightening to know that some states that may have cases would be living in fools paradise because cases that ought to have been detected are not and such individuals will be spreading it on daily basis.
A World Health Organisation (WHO) report indicated that as of March 22, 2020, Nigeria has tested only 152 persons with a record of (40 positive which represents 26%) while South Africa tested 15,500 with about (702 cases representing 5%). Extrapolating these numbers, you would agree with me that if 15,500 patients were tested in Nigeria just like it is in South Africa, the number would conservatively be between 2-3% or 300 - 450 minimum.
This deceit need to stop. Here is calling on NCDC to be open and transparent in the interest of all and not play politics with peoples' lives. You're displaying ignorance here. You should have asked before making false allegations. All the info you need is at their website. In fact the Twitter clearly DIRECTS YOU TO THE SITE FOR FURTHER DETAILS!! |

RonaldoVido: Trailers are not supposed to be parked indiscriminately on the road.
I have also avoided this kind of accident with a parked Dangote trailer.
Some are asking if he was sleeping.
Perhaps, he was trying to overtake and the events happened, he needed a left hand swerve maybe to avoid the moving vehicle in his front.
Split Second happenings and that's it. I'm very familiar with the road, which is relatively smooth stretch with few bends. So I belive if fully alert, he probably should have sighted the stationary trailer from far off and as such make the necessary evasive moves. Looking at the impact again, once can deduce the driver almost certainly did not see the trailer before it was too late |
