alomeda600:What about the performance of their graduate in many field, OAU outshine on many occasions. |
Efewestern:Yes, palm oil cultivation spread to many south west state through the Urhobos. Ondo state is a prominent example. The Urhobos presence was very widespread in the southern part of the state, so much so that they speak the native language fluently. Sometimes, you can hardly differentiate an Urhobo person from Ikale. Ondo is also very prominent in Palm tree cultivation. |
SouthNigerian:Banka ko, Banga ni. Can any soup in Africa and Nigeria as a whole stand Egusi mixed vegetables soup and pound yam? Stop decieving yourself |
opsyswagger:She's a prominent Yoruba movie actress. If you don't know her, then you don't watch Yoruba movies |
FreeSpirited:Where were you when OAU was toping the list of best universities for years. The same OAU will join UI students in competition and trash them. OAU lecturer might be old fashioned and conventional in their approach, but the university has a system that groom student into hardworking and academic success. OAU graduate are leading everywhere. |
South west governors and leader should apologize for Sasha Killing |
Omihanifa:If Tinubu is driven by greed, what drives the smaller politician who aspire for the same office. Tinubu should quite the stage from the smaller greed, who dream of attaining Tinubu status. It's a pity what the general perspective of politics has become in Nigeria. |
mofedamijo:I beg to differ. The value of money in the western world and some economically stable nation isn't as volatile as we've witnessed in Nigeria and other troubled African countries. For instance, the case of New York house rent you cited above relates to commodities that respond swiftly to competitive market and other human manipulation. Issue like mortgage, price of oil in international market and price tag of players in football for instance depends on market competition and other factors. Go and collect data on price of commodities and monetary value in UK as at 1950s, you will still get amount valuable in modern day market. You won't compare this with Nigeria where currency denomination fizzle out of circulation due to rapid collapse of their value. Is it not the same country we buy a rubber of rice at 250 naira in 2015, something that now sell for almost 1000 naira now. The implications of all this is the general decline in the qualities of life. An average Nigerian home in the 70s and 80s have thin and canned food as essential commodities, something this generation has replaced with satchet. Some commodities such as milk are even term as luxury altogether. When I was young, my mother will never fry egg without spicing it up with Geisha or corn beef. How many kids of this generation knows with this things are. To have a grasp of the prevaling bitting inflation in Africa, take the example of Zimbabwe. They were forced to Dollarise their economy because of the rapidly collapse of their own currency. |
I have said it that with the current inflation rate in Nigeria, a time will come when you will enter food canteen and ask them to sell you, 1 million naira plate of rice, 2 million naira meet and 5 hundred thousand naira dodo |
Givaxy:The tigh with Ijaw though recognize, is very remote. Their language has been transformed over the years due to close contact with Ilajes, who speak variant of Yoruba language. Frankly speaking, most Yoruba state and towns have their own distinct variant or dialect. Only Oyo and Osun speak language in close semblance with central Yoruba. but naming culture across Yoruba land done in the general language because of it's official nature. Though on some occasion, especially in Ondo south, people gave name in the dialect e.g Temetan- Temikotan in general Yoruba meaning mines isn't finished ( I'm not finished) |
myobjective:The standard Yoruba is not indigenous to any town in Ondo state. Everyone has their own distinct variant of Yoruba. The Akure Language is closely related to Ijesha and Ekiti. Akoko have their own numerous dialect. Ondo town and the neighborhood speak what we call Ondo language. |
Goke7:Apoi recognize their Ijaw as their ancestry. In fact, many town in Apoiland have a name with Ijaw root e.g Igbobini. Even their festival are still conducted in Ijaw language. |
Fantasticcc:The composition of Ijaw in Ondo state deserve to be observed from historical perspective. Ese-Odo local government where Ijaw had carved a home for themselves are of two subethnic group, the Ijaws and the Apoi. Though Ijaw constitutes the minority in these areas, it is believed the majority Apoi are historical descendants of Ijaw. Their arrival into the territory predate the currently known Ijaw people. Theit language had also transformed over time. They now speak a close variant of the numerous Ondo south dialects. The activist, Omoyele Sowore is an Apoi man. That explain why he claims not to be Yoruba. The same can be said of Ikale tribe, who occupied the two local government of Irele and Okitipupa. It is claimed the Irele migrated from Benin. I've also come across Okitipupa person who claim her family are Benin. Their ancestral surname is Idebi, a Benin language. |
O boy! Fiji. People can travel o. Fiji is a far-flung land. A tiny remote island in East Indies. I was fascinated with while i study atlas as a kid. |
I need no briefing on the fact that Russia is cheaper than America and many EU countries. A friend of mine; we were together in the university and in the course of his protracted extra years in OAU, I harboured him in my rented apartment countless time. He graduated with a third class and just before I knew it, he was flooding his Facebook page with pictures in Russia. He already got admitted to a master degree in oil and gas engineering. This after a third class in industrial chemistry. |
We still haven't solved the problem of Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo, we want to add another one. |
My father didn't go to school but how his oral account of Dimka couo and arrest as well as other history of Nigeria came very close to the true story surprises me. I think the level of consciousness of that era and the oral tradition of history in Africa is underrated. Dimka was a very handsome and athletic man who loved women. That's the exact description my dad of blessed memory gave |

iwaeda:Elsewhere, Kwaran are dagi dagi yam farmers and Kwara state education is nothing to write home about. |
Tectono:He definitely won a second term, like Adekunle Ajasin of Ondo state but likely rigged by the ruling NPN of Shagari before getting his mandate back through court. At least that was the case in Ondo with Adekunle Ajasin. They were all members of Awo UPN and there performance were unmatched. The corruption of ruling NPN brought the military coup that truncate the regime. |
Tricksters could easily ochestrate this. She might have been shown some real cash, after which the swindler would cleverly replace it with paper. Another approach to this is to have the paper covered by real cash while the white paper lies within the pack. Trickster employ several manipulative way. This is too cheap to be a magic |
Good development. This should also lead to creation of more local government. It is only toward this end that constituency delimitation can be ensured. |
Akeredolu will build one poultry and called it classroom, then come to social media to paste it everywhere. I though Yahaya Bello was the most stupid and under performing governor until I began to place term Akeredolu. This state has turned out to be the least performing in the last ten years started from Mimiko to the current white beard idiot. Imagine a state where no teacher has been employed into secondary school for over ten years despite succession of retirement. |
ShackWes:Myanmar is also called Burma. The people of Burma are Burmese. Does that ring a bell? If not, go to the last or beginning page of the small blue pocked Bible called Gideon international, where John 3:16 was qouted in many languages. Burmese was one of it. |
The same Aug San zuu ki who presided and kept a sealed lip over the killing and displacement of Rohinga Islamic tribe from the country. Citizen of your country who have no other place to call their own were brutally flushed out of their land. It took the generosity of Bangladesh for these people to find a haven't. This coup is bad for democracy but good for Aug San zuu ki |
DoctorDree:What's good about the move. Only unproductive nation with no interest in creativity will seek to export everything it sees as raw material. That bamboo stick will be turned to finished product and import back to Nigeria at higher cost or used to develop a foreign land. If bamboo serve some potent economic value, why not try and learn about the creative way it is employed, then use it here. |
Zoharariel:Is that the same movie where he used the word "Na awo de" It's now a popular slang meaning "fuk till your dick soften" |

At last, the guy lost it. He has been out of public circle for years and rumoured of sickness and recovery has been the major news about him. The truth isn't always clear. But the guy get swag in those days |
Igbere TV gathered, Igbere TV report. This Igbere TV na scam. Reporting without video, no station in any part of the federation. Few online presence, yet it claim to be the source of every news on nairaland. |
kambili999:University shouldn't even be a requirement for speaking good English. Basic education that inbued you with fluent reading skill is enough and that is attained in secondary schoool while speaking ability improve for a lifetime or until brain began to set into decline. The only requirement is not to abandon reading completely. Reading, anything like newspaper, novel or even Facebook post contributes to improving one language skills. Trying to complement what one read by speaking it from time to time will aid the mastery. Most of those who attended university didn't go their to study English, it's only that it coincided with the Peak of their formative years. I went to university late, almost age 30 but then, most university graduate and even master degree holder couldn't match my spoken English. |
edimaan:The lady has her first degree in OAU |
