Yoruba people should go back to their states and be proud of themselves
Always doing themselves... thinking they’re doing others Your comment is laced with hate and ignorance. Every state in Nigeria has the same feature; a capital city with more extensive infrastructure. This is where ministry and corporate head office are located. This is in contrast to the relatively poorer infrastructural present in smaller towns. The level of infrastructural development also decline with size of each community. Generally, every state has what could be called city, towns, village ans even hamlet. The Yoruba land you painted with several denigrating remark here has one of the best community presence in Nigeria. Each states across the south west hold a lot of promises because they are a place of local economic activities. Aside the capital cities, each major town has settlers and indigenous population who engage in various activities that contributes to the states wealth. If the Ibo land does not possess this feature, it is probably because most In small town and villages abandon their land for Lagos, something very prominent amon them. Those who don't relocate to Lagos have their sight in the big cities of their region. They only come home after acquiring some wealth to build mansions which they don't live in because Lagos and other big cities is where their business are located. Most small comunity in Igbo land are just ghost town with little or no economic activities. The houses are mainly occupied with grand mother's and their aged parent as well as school age children. Take Ondo for instance, aside Akure the capital city, there are other big town with vibrant economic activities. There is Ondo town. Often called Ondo city, the town has a federal college of education. The city could compete with many state capital in population and economic presence. There is also Owo and Ikare Akoko. Aside the above listed, there are third grade town like Ore, Okitipupa, Igbokoda. Ore alone is worth some big city in per capital. There are many rich people with business across Nigeria who started off in Ore. Ore is the source of their wealth. In-between these towns are villages and small communities. These are agricultural communities with farming activities that not only feed the state but supply product to other big cities. Product like cocoa, kernel, and plantain are produced in abundance. Ondo south for instance, supply more than five hundred tons of kernel seed to factories daily. These kernel seeds are source of vegetable oil to most part of Nigeria. The only problem bedevilling all these towns come from the failure of the state governors. They abandon the town's, leaving people to fend for themselves. |

I still believe ESL is the future bt it has to have a better sense of FairPlay in its structure. And I see several ways to achieve this already.
Who doesn’t want the big leagues and big money! While growing the sports. Money isn't the only contributor to the popularity of the game. The collapse of ESL wasn't the financial interest of big club but their greed and haste. Fair play, inclusiveness, the interest of all and adherence to the fundamental requirements for entertainment was was sustain the sport. Imagine a league where the participation of membership club isn't based on it's own performance but a presumed status of wealth. A close competition that doesn't accommodate the aspirations of smaller one. Take Chelsea for instance, they weren't among the big club until Roman Abramovich took over. Now, are claiming a right in the newly proposed league. Can this system allow subsequent club evolution as seen with Chelsea, Manchester City and other recent one? |

Superpower: Do you mean tenor?.Most men are tenor singers.Almost all the guys they gave a golden ticket are tenors.Nobody looks for a soprano singing voice from a man which is very rare. Voice are imitated. Few guys on the show dwell on their natural singing voice. This is more affirmed by the fact that they gave a rendition of popular music. They might be in the natural tenor but often strain their voice to attain a thin, high pitch one. It tend mostly towards an alto. |

Superpower: That guy could not sing at all although he is a good songwriter and the judges commended him for that and encouraged him to pursue a career in songwriting. Nigerian idol is a singing competition so vocals is the most important criteria. The judges never said anything about him not having a soprano voice. You might be mistaken the guy I saw for another person. I doubt it more so when you said he couldn't sing at all. On the contrary, his singing is excellent. The only problem he has with the judge is the degree of huskiness in his voice. He is a tenor singer and he delivered perfectly. I didn't accuse the judge of condemning him for being anything less than a soprano, what I mean is that their criticism of his voice is an indication that they don't fancy any other voice type except an alto or soprano |

Although I have defended the judges against backlash and criticism countless time, I have come to noticed that they themselves aren't skilled enough in their task. This isn't about the judge in real sense but a general shortcoming in Nigerian music industry. Majority of those who take the exalted table are just talented or successful people in the industry. They are not professional capable of delivering excellently in music critique. Many of them don't know the do re mi of music but are charged with judging people talent and their varying musical gift.
I'm saying this after observing their parochial view on some abilities. If a performer doesn't possess a thin singing voice in auto or soprano, it never sound good enough to the judges. A guy came around yesterday, or two days ago, I don't know cos what I see are a replayed transmission. This young man who claim to be inspired by Akon didn't give a rendition of popular song. He delivered a song he made by himself. His song was so nice and creative with good lyric. You could even see it in the judge how enthralled they were when listening to him. But his failing, according to what the panel assessment implies is that he didn't possess a thin soprano voice. By my assessment, that guy was a tenor singer, and his style go perfectly with it. Meanwhile, the judges hinted on his 'not-so-good' voice as his major limitations and advised him to improve on it. They even attested to his song writting skill but all concluded he isn't good enough vocally. What a load of trash. Must every singer be gifted with alto or soprano?. What about singer with deep baritone voice? The problem with the judge is that they aren't schooled enough in the business of music. |

Music/Radio › Re: Nigerian Idol Jury Should Be Disbanded: Opinion (photos) by alfredilly: 8:16pm On Apr 18, 2021 |
stancydg: The above mentioned music reality show currently running on DSTV and GOTV platforms may likely be the "wackiest" (for want of words) music reality show in recent times going by the quality of opinions thus far by the jury, made up of a 3man panel of Obi Asika; a Record Label Exec, Seyi Shay; a perpetual upcoming artiste going by the unpopularity of most, if not all her songs and DJ Sose; who at best is skillful at selecting songs that'll mostly appeal to club audiences.
One would have thought the record label executive in the person of Asika, who ordinarily should have been exposed to artistes of various kinds, will as a father figure, be in full control of the selection process, by way of influencing the opinions of the others even though the antecedents of past judges on the show clearly sets a pace for divergence in opinions that in the end, engenders a robust decision for or against the candidates. This is terribly in deficit this time on the show, as as much as a snarl from the perpetual upcoming artiste is enough influence of the opinions of two supposedly mature and independently minded men. Sose even managed to take his obvious lack of knowledge of music and consequently, a lack of sound judgement to annoying levels by always concurring to whatever Seyi Shay breathes, despite his body language telling otherwise.
All of the above is obvious in the audition of the young music producer, whose image you'll find attached to this post. I can bet that IK, the show host was shell shocked that the young man had to be turned down for no reasonable point, except for displaying his musical dexterity. If that's a crime, then pray tell me what Idols is all about?
I was part of the very first Idol show in Nigeria that produced the likes of Timi Dakolo and Omawunmi and what I can clearly remember is that singing foreign songs or even displaying your vocal dexterity wasn't a crime. If it was compulsory for candidates to do local pangolo songs for the show to be seen as "Nigerian Idol", like Miss Shay foolishly posits, then I dare the show organisers to switch the nomenclature to "Naija Oosa/Ojuju etc" and compel the judges to speak Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo.
Besides, in the first Idol show in Nigeria, the jury made up of seasoned music industry legend like Dede Mabiaku, Radio Joc; Dan Foster and a Ghanian lady popularly referred to as "It's not werking for me" had their independent opinions of the candidates even though one out of the trio always played the devil's advocate.
Question now is; who the hell is the devil's advocate that'll ensure a robust decision making process in the ongoing Idol show, when from all we see, all trio are sleeping with their heads in the same direction ??
Reason the current panel needs to be disbanded, asides the joke Seyi Shay has made of the show by unprofessionally making mockery of young chaps she is meant to encourage, thereby wreaking psychological damages that may be indelible in the lives of the up and coming generation.
PS: I don't know the guy being auditioned in the attached pictures as I am speaking for countless others that are in my opinion, obviously far ahead of the judges musically, but were turned down. Far ahead of the judge musically, I'm provoked to disagree with you. I've heard a lot of criticism of Seyi Shay scathing opinion of artist on the show. Though I won't fully support the deployment of verbal assault to impact psychological damage and weaken the confidence of upcoming artist, the peculiarities of individual judge assessment style should be respected. I also disagree with those sighting Seyi Shay not-so-blossoming music career as a basis for undermining her presence on the show. A judge doesn't have to be Tiwa Savage or Wizkid before sharing those exalted table. That a singer song isn't on everyone lip doesn't make him/her untalented. Nigerian choice of music sometimes could defy every sense. There are many beautiful song that doesn't fly here and many good singers who aren't accorded due respect because they don't strike a cord with the style in Vogue. |

As you can see from my comment, I don't even want to compare the two countries because we have a long way to go. There is no time in history when capitalist investor use democracy and human right as yardstick for extending their economic dominance. The recent trend of snubbing Nigeria isnt a brilliant one. Obama started it in 2009 when he snubbed Nigeria and you can't underplay its consequence. jesmond3945: but the british scientists issued an advise to stop the astrazrneca in UK? It seems you don't follow the news. The British has stopped giving Astrazrneca, they have now switched to moderna. By the way Astrazrneca is owned by Sweden, the vaccine is produced in EU, so the EU have more chances of making money, they have nothing to loose. The question is this, are the chances of blood clotting with the vaccine, yes or no? Most of the people suffering the adverse effect have greater chance of fighting the virus. Why not vaccinate the vulnerable and leave the younger population? Why destroy their lives forever? Anyway continue following the government like sheep, they have your best interest at heart. Why giving yourself to misinformation when you have at your disposal, a viable means of checking fact. Astrazenica is a joint ownership of British and Sweden. The vaccine was produced in partnership with Oxford university and that is why it is called oxford- Astrazenica. The production site of the vaccine is in UK, not the EU as you claim. Where did you get this information that UK has stopped administering Astrazenica. This vaccine is the core of their vaccination program. Even the British prime minister, Boris Johnson took it. The mRNA method is faster as it can be easily synthesized for faster production unlike the classical system that requires culturing the microorganism before harvesting ( like the AstraZeneca vaccine). Is it logical to conclude that the more vigorous Pfizer is likely to impact higher side effect than the mild one used by Astrazenica. I'm it to you today that you here little from the news, about side effect linked to PfizerBiontech because even the CNN is doing campaign for them. |

jesmond3945: both number 1 and 2 false. People who got vaccinated, also got the virus after some days. Some have died from taking the vaccine due to clotting issues. The scientists even said that it is better to have a blood clot from a vaccine than from corona, who in his right mind says that. Some have adverse long term reactions to the vaccine. The vaccine is integrated with nano particles which carry an Identity that would be tied to your passport. How do I know? Moderna vaccine cheat code was hacked and uploaded on github. Besides your body naturally has a far better cheat code(99.9 percent) to handle the virus than a vaccine that the probability is even 80 percent and not even certain. Finally, it is against human right and not ethical to force vaccination on people. The only way to make your workplace covid secure is to follow the rules and not to be vaccinated. The vaccine just helps in herd immunity. Stop generalizing using microscopic number of cases. Covid-19 vaccines comes with some percentage of efficiency which isn't 100. There is therefore a likelihood of infection after innoculation, but this small chance doesn't predispose everyone who already got vaccinated. Even non pharmaceutical measures have a degree of protection which isn't as high as the former. Meanwhile, all this brouhaha around the vaccine are mere scare mongering effort. The issue of blood clot has been declared as not necessarily traceable to Astrazenica. Even after the news emerged in some European countries, the world health organization and European Medical Agency claimed there is no substantial evidence to indict the vaccine. You must know that there is a bit of politics and conspiracy theories involved in this controversy. Astrazenica is British, and the EU countries whose major stake is in PfizerBiontech acting as though they want to bring down the British drug makers. One can make sense of this by realizing that Britain has left the custom union through Brexit. Evidence of conspiracy is obvious when, on the day European Medical Agency declared Astrazenica as effective for people of all age group, France president Emmanuel Macron claimed there is no substantial evidence that the vaccine will work for people age 65 and above, prompting a wave of reaction that led many EU countries to limit the drug to the those age 65 downward. Is Emmanuel Macron a medical expert? Why is he putting his voice ahead of professionals. |
