Crime › Re: I Got Into A Messy Fight This Morning Going For An Interview by alizma: 11:36am On Feb 11, 2023 |
Onedayoneday: Based on tips, I had to attend an interview today. The information was that if I am shortlisted, I will start work latest first week of March. So I was very happy and ready to do anything to attend the interview.
As an applicant without a kobo, I had to kneel down begging a neighbour before he borrowed me 1k to enable me pay my way. The transport fare to and from was to gulp N400 or more.
My in and out was just the 1k. In fact, my feeding was also inside the 1k - everything. So it was a priceless 1k that every kobo was very important.
Early in the morning, I heard people arguimg over the deadline for new naira notes. People refused to collect the old naira notes.
So I boarded a bus with the N1000 note which I paid to the conductor. My transport fare was N100. When I came down, the conductor gave me new N500 note and two old N200 notes, making it N900. I refused to collect the old N200 notes. He insisted he didnt have new naira notes to change for me. Argument ensued as I refused to collect the old notes.
Like I said, that was the only money with me. So I didnt want to take any chances of collecting old notes that I will later not be able to use. So in the midst of the argument, he wanted to move and leave, I tried to stop him by gently holding his t-shirt. I didnt know his polo shirt was that soft. Unluckily for me, the polo got torn.
That was how war was declared. The conductor and the driver descended on me. They first targeted at tearing my shirt too despite showing remorsefulness over getting his shirt torn. Not once, not twice, they kept tearing my shirt till at some point, I put a resistance. Of course that couldn't be without a fight. I won't lie, those guys dealt with me. Two agbero hands descending on one non-agbero hand. Before people could intervene, they tore my shirt and a part of my trouser, gave me serious bruises, got me so dirty and stopped me from attending the interview.
I went back home like a mad man.
A very sad day for me.
May God help and bless me with a well-paid job.
The struggle continues!!! Where did it happened? Drop your details, you might be lucky to find help. I pray God answer your prayers soon. |

El rufai is trying to use the masses against CBN. He knows the people will likely protest if they have much of the old naira with them that is why he is encouraging the masses not to deposit the old notes. If all old notes gets to bank in line with the deadline, the case against CBN will focus on releasing the new notes in large quantity but if the Masses has the old notes, the case will now include asking the CBN to allow the old notes to remain in use pending when the masses send all to the bank, with that, the politicians would have achieved their aim with the old notes. |

You believe banks can hoard more than politicians who still have 2001 printed currencies in their warehouse? On election day many of you will see how this new money will circulate and end the scarcity then you will realize the politicians are really the culprits here. Any money you give to the POS Marchants is released back to the society, but can we say same about politicians preparing for elections?
Who hand the new notes over to the politicians, is it not the banks? |

emmykk: Yes it the law of demand and supply that is at work. The process they used in getting the money they are vending at the pos now is not from banks and not every pos agent has that plug to do that,so there are few pos agent in their shop while does who can pay the price dictate the charges Then the politicians cannot be blame for corruption, in fact, going buy your standard, the politicians are not corrupt. They spend money campaigning, spend money to get people to vote them and then you expect them to get their and not recover what they spend right? The current POS charges favour some of you and you now call it law of demand and supply. |

If all POS close up like you all are saying, you all will cry even more. Tell APC to release money and the charges will drop. There is no money in the bank and you think these POS agents manufactur money? No, they buy it and then they add the cost of buying the money and then the POS charge from the company and then add their own profit. When there are too many people to service (ie middle men), goods wioo end up getting to the consumer at a higher price.

I believe him. However, the CBN governor meant well for Nigeria even in doing that. The 30b naira against 2trillion is not a mistake but intentional. It was aimed at bringing the cashless policy to full implementation. You don't expect CBN to print 2 trillion new note while talking about cashless policy. |

Naira finally gets value. The comments here are not the usual nairalanders comment where they normally attack the agency. We all seems to agree together on this that she has committed a crime against our sacred naira. This is exactly what CBN/Buhari is bringing to Nigerians. In the event of successful implementation of this policy, if anyone tells you that the redesigned denominations are ever going to be much in circulation like before, tell the person that I said he is a lier, naira notes have moved up in term of the way it used to be valued. From now on, we are going to be using more of electronic means of settlement than physical cash. A time has come when it will be abnormal to see an individual flaunting wraps of 1k note carelessly. |

Sonnobax15: Today, a friend of mine invited me to the traditional marriage ceremony of his brother in-law......
After travelling for over 2hours via my keke, so we finally got to our destination. After exchanging pleasantries, kola nuts and other traditional rites were done, then it was left for the main dowry which was #2000. It was then the bigger problem came because the groom's family didn't come with cash. They insisted on doing transfer but the bride's family insisted on it, saying it must be paid with cash.
Omoh, the whole thing became funny . The bride's elder brother kept insisting on it until a POS attendant was invited into the situation. The dowry's money was later withdrawn and paid in cash.
Now, my question is, is it right to pay Bride price via transfer considering the new currency policy that's affecting everyone at this moment? Or the groom's family could have withdrawn the money and kept it until the D-day while it was crystal clear it could have expired due to the deadline of the naira swap?
Mods abeg make una shift this thread to the permanent site so that make other enlightened nairaladers for torchlight the matter small. As decided by the brides relatives. If they are okey with transfer, so be it. If they are not, better look for cash because in such transaction the two parties must agreed on means of exchange before the transaction can be successful executed. |
Family › Re: A Marriage In Deceit by alizma: 12:30pm On Feb 03, 2023 |
Elkidz: Please I need a good advice on this issue from matured minds.
A friend of mine called me yesterday and was seriously crying that she wants her daughter that just got married to come back.
REASON: Last year, her daughter of 21 years got married. From the look of things, the marriage was contracted on falsehood. The man( daughter's hubby) was introduced to the girl by another woman. The young man and his mother presented themselves as very good people. The young man claimed to have money and working in Abuja as "interior decorator" . He made the girl believed that he has money where's he was borrowing to do the the marriage rites. After the first stage of the traditional rites, he lied to the girl that bank seized his money because someone from abroad sent more than the approved amount (ie. millions) into his account. The girl had to use the little money she received as salary to sort out certain things.
To cut the long story short, marriage was scheduled, on the eve of the wedding (the bridal shower night) , the young man beat the girl blue and black to the embarrassment of everyone present including his own friends, that was how the bridal shower ended with the poor girl crying all throughout the night. This is just because of flimsy excuse, to make matters worst, the girl was some weeks old pregnant which he's aware of. To worsen the situation, after marriage, the man left the lady in the village with the parents, two days after marriage he travelled for a job, while the girl is left alone in the village without any pocket money and without any job since she's stopped the job she was doing before marriage. She's just Living at the mercy of the guy's parents with the mother treating her like trash.
Please Mod kindly push to the front page, I need matured advice. To cut the long story short, your friend's daughter is married, stay off their marriage. Thieves everywhere, you gave a 21yrs old girl out in marriage because the man said he has money. A girl that probably has no skill or any reasonable academic qualification. Madam, you people want to scam the man but got scammed along the line. Case closed. |
