Andre Uweh:
@Alh Harem, you are the one who has continually spread falsehood in this thread. I did say Ndigbo are the third largest group in West Africa. I did put Hausa/fulani and Yoruba ahead of Ndigbo. Where is the lie in it?.
I did say that only in Iwo road Ibadan, the number of Ndigbo there is higher than the entire Yoruba people in Imo state. Where is the lie?.
But you are the one claiming that there are more Yorubas than Ndigbo in Benue state-a state that has an indigenous Igbo population. That chat of yours is like me saying that there are more Ndigbo than Yorubas in Kogi state. That will be a lie because Yorubas are natives in Kogi.
Despite the fact you have resided in Borno in the past, yet you claimed that there are more Yorubas there than Ndigbo. This is coming at a time you are suppose to be upright before Allah. Do you not regret all this lies of yours.
LOL

were are not talking about west africa but Nigeria. The question posted by odumchi was " ThE IGBOS ARE PROBABLY NIGERIA'S MOST POPULOUS GROUP" right

then He (odumchi) you and others did some guess work on how igbos are the most populous ethnic group.

then I (alj harem) came with figures and facts and links that are not biased but credible links. which You did not agree to but insisted u and odumchi kept posting numbers of igbos in so and so states

again if u read page 2 u would see i said I don't really care

then i started doing the same thing u were doing by guessing and using all the experience to make prediction which is only based on my experiences and could vary with change in areas in states.

If the discussion got heated up and u felt offended, then i am sorry but i tried to change it to a joke insisted u kept insisting.

Brother i am sorry again hope it would not spoil our friendship on NL smiley

Abagworo:
@alj-harem.Do you believe there was a census in 2006?You seem to rely on a census in which figures were manufactured.I was serving and therefore was involved in the census. We were given target figures that were not in existence and later population was allocated based on the target estimates. There was no census. We did numbering of houses but were asked to stop at a stage.I am so sure that Nigerian population is not as high as claimed.Even during immunization,we were given targets which were thrice the actual no of infants. We were asked to deceive some white UN observers attached to us.

I think we should stop lying to ourselves and conduct a real census.Even if we are actually 80 million,we have nothing to lose.
Ok lets say the 2006 census was wrong and was made up by the government.

Now i am discussing based on the fact that the census was wrong and the figures were political. right

Now

1. when andre was talking of 1 million igbos in Oyo, we can say there are 1 million hausa/fulani in abia and 1 million yorubas in anambra

if that is estabished then, we can continue

if yes then if there are 7.3 million igbos in the SW, then there are 14 million hausa/fulani in the SW and 4 kanuris in the SW

again if there are 10 million igbos in the north, then there are 20 million yorubas in the north.

if we estabish that then we can contiune with the guess work.

As for me i don't really care who is more so long as the country moves forward but all this one that andre and odumchi are doing but getting angry all in the name i do not agree with there figures which were wrong in my opinion are a wrong way of assession

Abagworo as you well know in Nigeria, when u let a lie go on unquestion, then it becomes a fact and no long a lie

i am just being a patriotic Nigerian and doing my job as a Nigeria grin grin grin cool

I mean abagworo, u did ur primary school in Osun state. isn't it

are u still in osun state or rivers states huh huh

can u be counted as part of osun state even though u did ur primary school in osun

why are u back in rivers, why not stay in Osun becos u did ur primary school there

again it is not only u that went back to ur state of origin but others as well are thinking like u wink smiley
Culture › Re: The Igbos Are Probably Nigeria's Most Populous Ethnic Group? by aljharem3: 4:32pm On Aug 17, 2011
Abagworo:
You seem to be avoiding the easiest way to determine population distribution.I just don't get your reason.if someone is schooling in an area,he forms part of the population of the designated area.Even if his parents reside in Kafanchan and he is shooling in Lagos,he is part of Lagos population and not Kafanchan.
Lol there is no easiest way out my brother. using school stats to determine the population of ethnic groups in an area is not the way to go about things. It is highly inaccurate,

If his parents are in kafancha and he is schooling in rivers state, He is not part of the state's popuation Unless he was counted duing a census thus the state can budget His expenses with the state ie free education or free health service
etc

if he was not counted in the state duing a census or collects an I.D card to indicate he is part of the state, then he is Not part of the state just another migrate in the state. I am sure u have been abroad and u have heard ofmigrates and benefit thieves

this is done in 2 categories

1. those that lie about there statues either as sick for health benefit etc

2. migrates that were not counted as part of the population of the area and are enjoying the benefits that comes with state.

thus states and countries advice people to stay were they are so they can be added to the population and thus budgets.

Abagworo:
2ndly,there is something known as transit population in cities where people either pass through or workin the day time but live some where else. That is the big mistake Nigerians make about Lagos hence claiming it is more populous than New York.Lagos transit population could be as high as 18million people but most people you see around came from different parts of the country to buy or clear their goods
grin lol again na wa oo

Please tell me where u would going to and u thus would pass through lagos in NIGERIA.

secondly, duing the census people were told to stay at home

3. those people working in lagos and living else where are people living in the SW likly ogun state. maximum, oyo and ondo. Unless u want to talk of a man every morning traveling from owerri to lagos all in the name of business and even as that again duing the census business was held up. offices were closed etc for 1 week. quote me if i am wrong

4. so it is during the census people would buy and clear goods. sad

5.people were ask there state of origin or state of residence

Abagworo:
Cities with this kind of population in Nigeria are mainly Lagos,Port Harcourt and Onitsha while Warri,Aba and Kano also have significant transit population.
again kano, lagos were all cleared during the census so we can not say where high population of migrates from other state to that state

those from warri were counted as delta, those from lagos were counted as lagosian, thus from onitsha were cunted as anambra

etc

Abagworo:
That is exactly why I emphasized on primary schools. Most people attend primary schools in their neighborhood. It is only secondary and tertiary that parents allow long distance.
wrong asscession my brother.

I have been a nomadic person all my life and as such did my primary school in lagos but a native of borno

there are a lot of igbo people that would do there primary and secondary school in SW and North then go to the SE for univerisity also some would do Primary school in the east and go to SW for secondary then north for univerisity etc

that is why i said it is a wrong asscession

what I think you can use to predict is if u say state population OR electroal population

occupation:- the kind of occupation tells u the type of people in those areas

way of life/ culture/language/ dressing/ food : this would tell u the type of people living in those areas as well

all this factors would tell u the kind of people living in there and there population density and size

in nigeria context this are the only things I THINK we can use. using schools etc would not be a good analytical tool

level of urbanisation can do as well because the more urbanised a city is, the more multicultural it is

yeah that is about it really.

Former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu allegedly acquires First Nation Airways (formerly Bellview Airlines).

According to source, shortly after Tinubu completed the takeover of the airline in 2010, he ordered for three new aeroplanes from the United States of America to beef up the fleet of the airline.

The planes were delivered in early April 2011 and are at the Murtala Mohamed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos already painted with the airline’s name and logo.

The Airbus A320 is assembled in Europe and has sitting capacity of 220 passengers.

It can travel at a range of 3,100 to 12,000 KM.

The cost of one aircraft is put at $85 million (N13.6 billion). Our checks revealed that the aircraft is the very first on Nigerian soil, only few airlines in Europe and America have this type of aircraft.

The former Governor, who served the people of Lagos from 1999-2007 reportedly has other business interests in the Lekki Toll Services, Eko Atlantic City.

He is also the promoter of The Nation Newspapers.
