Does it not include the unproductive civil servants we don't want them to sack en masse?  The civil servants who are agitating for increased pay and who we support?  The police and judicial system that are massively underfunded and not able to dispense the basic functions of government?  Does it not include the publi schools?  Should we cut down on all these to provide free petrol?  The wastes people are talking about are peanuts compared to the subsidy(33%) and salaries (70% of 66% according to Sanusi)

and where did you get that from? The only reason there are no private refineries in Nigeria is because they will not make profit based on the policies we currently have. They will rush in as soon as the environment is made open to them. Nigeria is a gold mine

1. That the price of transport will double when you double frice of fuel. Many parts of Nigeria, like the SE, buy fuel at over N100 already. So that wont make much difference
2.  That the price of fuel will double when you remove fuell subsidy. Well half truth that is. The price will increase but the coming in of private refineries will create competition and drive prices down

I have only one and just one stance on this argument. If there is subsidy and government is hell bent on removing, then, they should bring our refineries to at least 90% capacity. Once that is done, they can take their subsidy. I just can't factor in why our politicians are soooo dumb, silly, idiotic and intellectually crass. How can u produce something yet u can't process it? U sell the white man and he refines and resells to you at a price 2-3 times higher than he bought it. Who is fooling who? Abeg!!!

If you buy the crude @ international prices, you would not necessarily pay less, the only savings would be shipping costs. Local Private refineries will not get crude at concessionary rates like NNPC. Feedstock accounts for about 70% of refining cost. The only way it will definitely be cheaper is if ALL new refineries are government owned and we ignore the opportunity cost of "dashing" them crude to refine. Government's record in owning commercial concerns is abysmal.

That is what I am talking about
