PoliticsRe: REVOLUTIONARY MILITARY INTERVENTION: Our Hope If Buhari Fails by allycat: 10:10am On Mar 20, 2016
All the former military heads of states, governors, members of armed forces ruling council and military ministers all became multi millionaires, owners of oil blocks and the largest farms all over nigeria. Check the boards of banks and the stock market retired military men have the largest shares. So it amuses me when people think they will be better than civilians ruling the country. The major difference with the military is that only them chop and clean mouth. No bloody civilian has any say and you can be jailed for com planing AKA decree no 4. They don't have to show you their budget, they kukuma don't even need to have a budget. You cannot remove them if they mess up (remember Abacha). So keep praying for bondage. Obviously these are people who were in primary school prior to 1999 otherwise they would remember sleeping in fuel queue for days, SAP, essential comodity era, Tally number in the bank, doctors, journalists and lecturers fleeing the country in droves. Anyway they don't teach history in schools anymore so it's obvious why younger Nigerians think this way.

Sammyashol:
My observation about Nigeria. Some times I feel like weeping, but never

A country where hard work doesn't pay but connection.

Many of the graduates have been APC/PDP members for years but only good for being a zombie and not for CBN/NNPC jobs.

20 years from now, we will be ruled by the same families. already being positioned by their parents to take over.

The children of the rich can even own businesses and employ workers. But the are never happy unless they get govt money.

So instead of education upgrading the poor, the poor are frustrated and being told to pray to God.

And some youths have being calling for the formation of new party ahead of 2019 please tell me is it not this same set of people that will decamp to the new party?

Nigeria is just an eyesore, nepotism favoured everywhere, an average man don't have hope for a better future. Same set of people recycling themselves.

How i wish the military can take over, so that we can start rebuilding our great country
I hope you know that the richest Nigerians are former military rulers and their children and affiliates. All they do when they come into power is to discipline the bloody civilians and then share the spoils amongst themselves. Tell me of one military head of state that didn't leave government a billionaire. EVEN buhari despite all his piety didn't leave a poor man. Even former military governors all became millionaires and many became your senators and some became governors again. It's their children that are being employed after training them abroad. The difference is under the military there is no free flow of information , it is chop and clean mouth.

PoliticsRe: Afolabi Akanni Not Dead As DSS Produces ‘Dead’ Lawmaker Alive (PHOTO) by allycat: 9:32pm On Mar 17, 2016
How are you sure that is the actual man. So cable news is called to DSS office and is shown a man who says he is Akanbi. They take photographs of him without showing his face and claim he is the one. Even cable news says the man they saw was ill looking and weak meanwhile DSS says he is hale and hearty. Why didn't they call his lawyers or family to come and see him and instead called some journalist who doesn't know him from Adam. Keep clapping, one day it may be you or a relative that is picked up for any reason by security and locked up and maltreated. I know because it has happened to my brother, we looked for him for days only to eventually find him in police custody. They claimed they picked him for wandering, meanwhile he was picked in front of his house in Anthony coming home from work , his phone seized and was not allowed to call anybody. It was someone who knew we were looking for him that had another matter at the station that saw him and alerted us. Maybe by now he would have been dead and brandished an armed robber.

Rumuagholu road had been a nightmare for over 3 years, I don't know why it was abandoned. Wike has done some work there and my elderly relatives who were almost cut off from PH. At least now they can drive in and out and get to town for church and other activities. Will such people not support the person that took them out of their misery.

When undisclosed sources were leaking information to Sahara reporters and Co, people were hailing them. Now other news sources are obviously catching on and paying moles for info. It shouldn't matter who the story is about wetter PDP or APC those were security breaches that should have been nipped in the bud. How could the President have a closed door meeting and an online paper could get info on what was discussed. It also means our top government functionaries are not safe as their itinerary can be bought by the highest bidder and it may not be a news outlet one of these days.

HealthRe: Luth Accuses Punch Of Unethical Practise by allycat: 4:03pm On Mar 12, 2016
I remember when LUTH once started refusing to attend to unbooked pregnant women who were rushed in at the last minute. The public outcry was so much and it was reversed. For one they disorganised the whole system, imagine being booked for a CS, you pay, your husband donates blood etc then the night before your surgery 2 women are rushed into the hospital at the point of death; use the blood already grouped and cross matched for you, use up all the supplies meant for your surgery. When you now show up you are told no bed space, no blood available and what looks like hogwash to you. Patients like this woman are the ones who harden medical people's hearts. I can bet she had been told she required CS and instead went to a hospital where she was allowed to push. Now as an emergency she is rushed to LUTH at the last minute and the Thank you she has is to blame the hospital that saved her life for her issues. Why did she not book for antenatal in LUTH after her first expirience, is it not because she felt that if she ran into problems they would rush her there and she would be attended to. Now she has a problem she is blaming them. I pray she gets help and can do the transplant.
HealthRe: Medical Doctors, Please Be Honest, Why Is Staph. Resistant To Antibiotics? by allycat: 3:45pm On Mar 12, 2016
Did any of these hospitals make a diagnosis of Staphylococcus Aereus? I can bet the answer is no, because in medicine there is no such disease. There is an organism called Staphylococcus Aureus that cause some diseases, just the same way an organism called Mycobacterium tuberculosis causes a disease called Tuberculosis or the Human Immuno Virua ca uses AIDS. You say a test was carried out, was it a skin swab, a urine culture, a blood culture, a seminal fluid analyses , a CT scan, an ultrasound or an Xray. These are just some tests that can be carried out to make a diagnosis. Again did you see a GP, a Urologist, a Cardiologist, a Gastroenterologist or a laboratory Scientist. Without those details this your questions can never beanswered the details are too vague.
HealthRe: What Is Medical Education by allycat: 3:33pm On Mar 12, 2016
It's the government's prerogative to sack and appoint but all this affects the running of the hospital. A single Consultant can run a department and see 100s of patients if he has 5 ,6 or more residents. But when you get rid of those residents he can see a very limited number of patients. Senior registrars and even more expirienced junior registrars train their junior collegue, when a vacuum is created at any level it affects the effective training of junior collegues. It has been found that candidates from centres with full complement of residents do better in exams than those where they are just a few esepically if they are all junior. Also Consultants usually do not like working in centres with few residents because they are forced to do the jobs of junior doctors along with their own.

I believe the future of residency in this country will be in private practice. Already some private hospitals have gotten accreditation and the trend is growing. Unfortunately the poor who benefit from the large workforce in government teaching hospitals will be the loosers unless the National health Insurance Scheme is reworked to give proper cover that will allow them seek care from these private hospitals. An example is Eye foundation in Ikeja Lagos.
HealthRe: What Is Medical Education by allycat: 3:17pm On Mar 12, 2016
Residency is the programme by which specialist doctors are trained. A doctor who wants to specialise wetter fresh out of school or several years later first takes an examination called the primary examination in the feild of his choice. If he passes he now applies for the position of a junior registrar in an accredited hospital to commence his residency. If he gets the job he starts working there under the supervision of a consultant or a group of consultants in his chosen feild. These people train him practically on the nitty gritty of that feild he wishes to practice.. when they determine he is fit, he is signed off to attempt exams in any postgraduate college that his centre has accreditation for. In Nigeria these are the National or West African PG colleges. If he passes he becomes a Senior Registrar at which level he is given even more responsibility and the degree of supervision by his consultants is reduced. Again when his supervisors deem him fit he can sit forpart 2 exams and if he passes becomes a fellow of that PG college and can now take on an appointment as a Consultant. The whole process can take anywhere from 4 to 10 years depending on the specialty. During this period they are temporary staff of the hospital who take external exams with the PG colleges.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Relocates 184 Officials Over Budget Padding by allycat: 11:32am On Mar 11, 2016
When the budget is finally released who get to spend the money, is it the staff of the budget office or the individual ministries? Furthermore who approves the actual spending in the ministries; is it not the ministers? So the people in the budget office on their own increased the budgets of the ministries that they have no control over so that those in the ministries will enjoy. These guys are just being used as scapegoats so some fools will clap and say Sai Baba. Redeployment is a routine in ministries and all staff know they can be moved at any time especially when a new head takes over. Further more what is a juicy position or ministry? In a sane environment it shouldn't mattress which ministry you are psted too as long as your salary and entitlements remain the same. It is only a the if who gets excited hearing he has been moved to a
"juicy " position.

What does he mean by angry enough, doesn't he read blogs where PDP and all its members are called all sorts of names daily. Or is he asking people to take things into their hands and 'act' by lynching anybody the news papers accuse of one crime or the other when the courts have not convicted them. They are accusing everybody of being against their fight from the judiciary, to the legislators, to now the common man. EFCC or DSS should do their job get proper evidence and prosecute the case and win. All this a pealing to sentiments will not wash.

PoliticsMatters Arising Buharis Interview! by allycat(op): 10:06pm On Mar 06, 2016
Two things the president said in his Aljazera interview caught my attention; One is that Nigeria under PDP had 42 ministers, wrong under Jonathan in particular there were 29 ministries but 42 ministers. Also he said for 16 years oil was sold at $140 , wrong again. from 1999 to 2005oils old at less than $50 rising to $145 in 2009 and then falling back a bit toabout $100 till 2014 when it started dropping again to its present level. Our President should have remembered he wasn't talking to Nigerians only who as a rule do not think and swallow every line hook line and sinker but was gIvinghoe an interview on international mediagnosis which can and will be analysed by non Nigerians also especially those he is discussing serious matters. I hope he didn't quote those oil figures during his talks in the Middle East. The problem with propaganda is that if you repeat a lie often enough you actually start believing it is the truth.

HealthRe: My General Hospital Experience by allycat: 3:29pm On Mar 04, 2016
Do people realise that the same doctors who run clinics are the same people who attend to patients in the wards and also cover emergencies. If they are surgeons they also are the same people who operate in theatre. The norm is that before running clinics, the doctors do a ward round everymorning, because once the clinic starts they can hardly get up if there is a problem in the ward. Meanwhile the patients on the ward will be complaining that the doctor came in the morning and dissappeared till the afternoon. On several occasions I had to operate till 4, 5am, see the patients in the wards the next morning and still run a clinic the next day. Even then on occasion the clinic was disrupted because there were problems on the wards. It took me over a year toput in my resignation because l knew how short staffed my department was but in the end lovely people like the OP reminded me that however hard I tried the same people I was worrying about (aka patients) would never be satisfied.

Which doctors again, the ones that are routinely called bastards, murderers, quacks and all kinds of names especially on social media in Nigeria. While people like me are advising my younger collegues to get out of the country and find places where their services will be appreciated: some are advocating more suffering for them. My advice get all the caring, good, expirienced doctors from other countries who are no interested in money and are not half baked to come and man the rural, hospitals. At least unlike we Nigerian doctors foreign doctors don't like money or comfort and will maybe work for free.
PoliticsRe: Metuh Destroyed Evidence Because He Said Too Much About Jonathan -EFCC by allycat: 10:50am On Feb 27, 2016
Does EFCC have trained lawyers? If they did they would know any statement not signed by the accused is inadmissible in court and the contents cannot be used in a trial. We were initially told he ate the papers then when they wanted to change their mouth they said he put it in his pocket. Even if he never tore it the fact that he didn't sign it makes it null and void. They are making a mockery of the whole process and making themselves look incompetent. They forget this whole tomfoolery is in the public domain and the whole world which includes intelligent humans are keeping tags.
