I just hope this does not come back to bite us. When agreeing to a treaty that neighboring countries should not dam the river Niger, the condition was for Nigeria to provide power to those countries. There was no talk of us weaponizing it against them in the future.

Now, other countries would think it twice about us using a future condition to break off our agreements.

A similar scenario was previous 2014 sanctions against Russia which made Russia prepare to immunize itself against future American and European sanctions. This came in handy during the Ukrainian invasion.

Future impact of our action might be seen. Sooner or later.

NATO didn't expand. Sovereign nations enlisted to join due to the untrustworthiness and bully-like attitude of their neighbour, and rightly so. Ukraine was too slow, now they bear the brunt.

To be honest, I can't say who approached whom but one thing is that the US had long been seeking a bear hug with Russia.

NATO was created with just a single objective. To combat the USSR which is now reduced to Russia. Why then still going ahead to circumvent Russia if not a war or intimidation affront?

When the SATAN 2 was released, the news was brought up here on nairaland. It is a cluster of seven nuclear warheads deployed at intervals to cover and destroy a whole country with just a single launch.

Recent updates state that it can carry as much as 12 nuclear warheads. I doubt much of a country would be left after Satan has pass through it.

I couldn't find the actual video but going through this video around the middle, the speaker a former US defence secretary admitted that this was indeed a proxy war against Russia and US needed to continue to provide arms for the Ukrainians.

The US just can't be trusted as a peaceful mediator in this case considering their agenda. NATO entered Libya, Iraq and we know these places ain't peaceful today.

I have tried to neutral in these war at some point, and I got to realize that, why are all the nations surrounding Russia aligning with the West? It says a lot about who Russia is.

Like the Nigerian adage will always say, all your neighbors cannot be wrong.

You have a point there but knowing the west, surely, deals must have have been done.

Take on where our political class were encouraged to import steel instead of developing our own steel industry just because Russia was involved in the setup.

With nukes, it's a totally different story. Apart from the initial death count, the pollution thereafter is another disease causer for the survivors. If the land passage close to Russia is blocked by a threat of being nuked, NATO can't take a marching step into neighboring Belarus.

One way to to make a lasting peace in Europe would be for US to disband NATO, pull out it's European forces, Russia gives up its occupation of Crimea. Though I doubt the Donbass region that Ukraine was bombing will want to be a part of Ukraine.

With such a deal in place, Russia too will mellow. Russia is just being scared by a military might whose initial and only reason was to pull it down.

When ever you reading histroy, you have to be current with modern laws. Only then will you be able to pass an effective judgement. A ban against Nuke was signed in the August 5, 1963 after the ever use of Nukes. Can you tell me after that when Nuke was used? We have to be factual with existing laws as humans are heading towards perfection.

If the US had no intent to ever use nukes, why spread at least 100 all over Europe? Why keep poking the bear?

One thing is clear to everyone now. Russia is not scared to use nuclear weapons. Those Belarusian neighbors would surely not want their countries covered in nuclear dust.

With spies everywhere, Russia will surely know when NATO begins to move its forces around. If Russia nukes them, they can't move their forces on radioactive land.

This is pure checkmate. EU will now begin to seriously look at negotiation to end the war and stop the occupation of Russia.

Let's look towards at an amicable solution by June.

Wow, I didn't even hear of that one. My opinion is that the US is intent on escalating this war which shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Considering Georgia and Ukraine, Russia never invaded those countries till NATO started expanding there. Must they key Russia in? And from all sides?

Seems the message is clear to those three countries.

"If NATO forces invade through you, you'll get nuked."

Considering the amount of NATO forces at those points, it's clear those are the points of entry planned for in case of an invasion on Russia.

No wonder Biden was even the one trying to disprove that the nukes were in Belarus so as not to make those three countries scared. Which means it is obvious that an invasion on Russia was in the works.
