The bill is not cool but my consign is grade 20 concrete for piles thats natural disaster.

See most of this pple will not achieve grade 20 strength insist on grade 30 which 7days strength is 20 and tell them not to make d pile cut of point until at least 21days..

Another reason I said that is since most of ur piles have been optimized to single u don't wanna make them do rubbish for u

And why must u have one pile point all through r sure the loadings is correct

The foundation is a pad footing and very coolwith soil with a good bearing capacity.. The beam is a plinth beam it helps to reduce the effective length of the column.. In lay terms..

That beam helps to chain those column together and support loads coming from the top it helps prevent the floor from cracking and helps the foundation against collapse from back fill.

I didn't know that the water there was rising from the ground. I thought it came from outside. Please explain the concept of wall joints to me properly

I am not an engineer but as one whose house is under construction, I follow what is going on there very well to avoid bad stories later.

Joint in this case maybe casting on different day, the floor joint to the wall or holes in the German floor (void)..water will follow this part into the building...

Water table is some area during raining is not upto 20naira ruler when this rain continue the ground get saturated filled up and not able to take as d result water finds its level..

Using a good foundation and German floor and proper drainage u can solve this issue..

Note

At times it might not rain in ur area and d table may likely rise due to other areas well filled up and water flow underneath also..don't cut corners in ur foundation that's just d trick..u can ask more question for clarity

The Lagos flood has made me to start raising the level of my compound that is still under construction. My compound level must be very high now.

I am doing a major modification to ensure that any water in the compound flows out and if the road is too flooded, it will take a heavy downpour and high water level to make that penetration.

As a builder in Lagos, watch what happens after heavy downpour in your site.

As u can see her case is not with flooding from outside but the water table rise up and penetrate through the wall joint and pores in the German floor ..

when making your Modification remember to use the polythene nylon before ur German floor

while in sch d company pays u which is fair and I dont think d company is a bad choice as u suggest because u will still receive ur pay during ur service year which will likely b what u earn when u were with them before..

Going to another state is ur choice but ur chance of seeing a good PPA is likely 45% .. So Work deligently and tell ur company u still want to work from home and go to that state NYSC POST U TO IF THINGS NO GOOD AFTER A YEAR JEJELY COM3 BACK

As d poster above said raft ..but d clue is at what level water rise in such area ..do u have a river very very close by ..because most times swampy area are plain which when d water table rises its meant to keep the spillage ..

exp I have a site dry season water table is below 700mm but when d river rise d height of water is above 2 meters..

All said above is d clue. so ask around or look for tress or ur neighbor fence to determine this u will see d damp part from previous water and pls if u want to d raft make sure its done well not d one that d concrete will be like sand and later collapse due to pressure ..d footing should be adequate

Soil test is not a problem but land is ok

Good Afternoon its better u carry out a soil test irrespective of what you think in absence of this,

make sure u carry out a structural design and don't assume the element sizes please ..You are left with an option where ur designer might assume d subgrade modulus/S.B.c this implies that u might have over design members which is not cost effective or under design which might look cheaper and lead to a serviceability failure in no time and may look like an easy options..

for the real question u asked an estimated price may be given if we can see ur structural drawing in line with this..

A very good and bad law..

Camp at yobe from lagos we use approximately 24hrs.. With just about 1hr rest in total in between.. To GEt to camp..while others that took rest use 39-60hrs

The bad traveling at night
we almost had any accident 2time's at a very close range but d driver had to drift into d bush assuming d bush path is a pit we r all gone..

The second one is the bus in front of us was stopped by armed robbers along Kaduna -abuja express road but my own bus is making convoy with a police van around that time d police really tried for those pple and dey ran away after numerous shooting...

Best option Nysc should post people in d north to far place like yobe, and stop risking our lives..my transport pass d allowee, pple way use plane still travel for 4-6hrs to get to the camp

Hello my great Engineers in the house, please I will like to be enlightened on the construction of a water tank stand over a septic tank. My engineer advised I build my tank stand on the septic / soak away tank we are about to construct. He said we will only need 4pcs of 16mm to reinforce the water tank stand pillar from inside the ground to the top(where d water tank will be placed). And 12mm rods will be used for other things like underground pillars, first chaining, second chaining and the slab.
Please is this best way to go about it?

you need to provide some certain information which is not given here..

is your supposed engr a structural engineer or he just said that on assumptions

what is the geotechnical condition of the soil

what size of tank are you looking at

the depth of septic tank and width
the tank structures it self will it be constructed using steel or reinforced concrete ..

I asked all this because he needs to be extra careful when he's designing the required footings/base for this column which the sewer must not seep backwards to it and cause deterioration of reinforcement ..

He needs to use a separate concrete grade below the ground level also. just tell him to design it to b sure it might not be Y16 as proposed.. my take

A bag of cement to lay 50numbers of 9inches block

for a column of 225by225 each use....

cement 16 bags
gravel 35 wheel barrow
sharp sand 17.5 wheel barrow

I estimated using wheel barrow to measure the materials needed incase u still have materials available at ur site because in tonnes its small..

though I don't know what stage of work u r presently if you r just starting adding d footing German floor etc to the estimation will increase it... if you already built and only want to insert d columns estimating the materials will give a better view of the materials like 5tonnes which can easily be got.. I hope you understand this... and my bozz koolengrtimmy will finish d rest for u via whatsapp..
