I think Nigeria could buy some 35mm gun capable of firing new developed AHED munition or time-programable munition from China and mouted on truck or it's own designed MRAP ,then sell to other country like libya to make some mony.
They have the guns only they not AHEAD versions. Why would Libya buy that from china (and witch Libya) when they could just buy the system from any other country for cheaper since Nigeria would have to buy guns and radar from china then attachet to a platform and then sell it. Where you could either just buy the sytem from Europe or where ever.

Divide had support.

F35 is not invisible it just has a tiny Radar cross section that decreases detection range and what range it can be tracked.

why not??...i beg,tell me...let be pounder..

i believe, its possible to take out a f35 with only a simple helicopter......
The F35 situational awareness. The AN/AAQ-37 provided a 360 degree cover with electro optical cameras. In short you not sneaking up on one. Next the F35 radar will see a alpha far beyond the range of a Alpha jets weapons and Radar and sine the F3 are Data linked only one will need there radar on for all to get the information. Since the F35 can both detected and track the far slower Alpha it can shoot far sooner.

Sure the Alpha could try and fly low and hide and pop up and try and hit the F35 from bellow. Problem is that the F35 as got a 360 degree cover and the alpha is slow.

The amount of money needed to make a alpha be able to stand up against a F35 is so much you may as well just buy a Aircraft that can do it. And there are aircraft that can carry a powerful enough Radar, Are fast enough, have the need edge to beat the F35 in a fight if they out number the F35 and they will since they have cheaper and easier maintenance

i am trying to help out...

i am telling you,,,,its possible to take out a f35 with only a alfa-jet!!!!!......
You can not take out a fully operational F35 with alpha jets and it has nothing to do with stealth.

Why won't they get banned. I mean, how can anybody possibly try to pit an Alpha jet against the F-35, and still expect to post stuff freely.

It just isn't possible. The absurdity of the scenario requires a ban.
Totally agree.

Since we are in the topic of RDRVs, a little bit OFF-TOPIC, British SAS are in Syria, photos recently emerged of SAS in Syria and they are driving Jordanian made Al-thalab vehicles.

Looking all exposed in those vehicles, I just can't see the benefit of these vehicles.

Frumentius please don't share what you're not comfortable with.
rover pinkie maybe

He should be fine as long as the pics don't reveal any thing classified. We have all known about the new rifle and the pics are old enough.

Didn't Defenceweb.co.za share a photo of you in a small boat a couple months back, which you in-turn shared here?
By my own pics I mean pics I have taken. Me in that boat for example. I knew of that exercise, the drone we used and could of mentioned it long before defenceweb. Defenceweb only did that article based on info that Navy gave them including the pic of me witch was taken by the Navy

and of course, what SA Special Forces, CSIR, and ARMSCOR were testing recently: I'm still opposed.

Navistar SOTV
The SOTV B is a good choice since it is a fully armoured 4x4 that is mill spec but looks like a civilian vehicle

https://gearheads.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screen-Shot-2015-04-01-at-3.38.33-PM.png

That something that could be really useful for any special forces team since they can blend in.

UK.BAE m777 (XM777) 155mm howitzer helicopter air tranportable. only 4086kg CEP 10m range 30~40km .I think also C-130 tranportable.

Maybe G7 is even lighter more tranportable or more cost effetive. G7 only 3800 kg or lighter some saying ~2500kg
we don't have a heavy lift helicopter so even the m777 is to heavy. The G5 is ok for us and the T5 will be a good buy to. South Africa will not buy foreigner Artillery. It does not make sense to give other courtiers the money when we can do it our self's. We all so unable to field larg batteries of guns we don't have the man power so if we limited to a few guns they better be the best. All so the G5 is not that expensive the cost is all the extra on it that we would still need know matter what we bought only now we will need to integrate our fire control computer to a brand new gun.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by andrewza: 5:24pm On Aug 10, 2016
chinese8107:
I would choose weight. Air transportablity.
The G7 is still in the work for a light weight 105mm than is air mobil. the 155mm are there for full on conventional where we will need the best of the best.

chinese8107:
For a 155 howitzer ,Why buy G-5 or similar thing like pic 1?
I would rather use the pic 2 for loe cost solution
Why buy the inferior product. Any case I think it more of a deal with Denel since they sent some SANDF G5 as a sale to some medi east buyer and are just going to replace them. Some one in the Army was like why don't we pay for a upgrade

All so buy a G5 is the cheaper deal since we operate and make them so it helps with spare parts.

Carrying weapons is now a thing with SAAF pilots.

Rooivalk pilots carry daggers/commando knifes too.
Not new and the knife is a tool in this case. Pilots carry pistols and carbines, in the video of the rooivalk in the DRC you can see the pilot climbing out the with his rifle

haha so you are saying our airforce now have to start turning their head in search of manpads when flying? lol. AFIT should do something towards the MAW.
They should And should have a MAW. I think some of your choppers and aircraft may of come with a MAW. But all your aircraft need them.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by andrewza: 2:53pm On Aug 08, 2016
tdayof:
MAW is something not too much to be developed. our military should develop please. MAW, RWR are being developed in my school, a whole country should be able to do better.
I would not even both with the RWR. BH does not use radar. And yes a MAW could easily be developed or a production right aquired from some one. They would be critical if BH started firing MANPADS at air craft.

What ever Libya had before the fall is probably up gor grab. I would not be shocked if SA made 50cal snipers ended up in BH hands since we sold Libya a bunch before there fall.

They would have no choice to, although they may currently be doing that already. The Air Force hasn't released any MI-35 combat footages yet, so we cannot say for certain was sort of counter-measures the Helicopters carry. I do agree that as a matter of SOP, release of flares before and after an attack must be done.

I know after engaging enemy targets F-7s release flares.
I suspect they do. But then again the Russians fired flares before and after every attack. Not sure if there Choppet that got shot down had a MAW system. The aircraft Turkey shot down did not have one.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by andrewza: 2:42pm On Aug 08, 2016
tdayof:
After flares what ECM do our aircrafts and helo carry?
Good question. Might be worth it to invest in a MAW (missile approach warning) system, so air craft know they being shot at. Any thing else is a waist of money since you cant jame a Manpad. A few dedicated EW choppers, aircfat and vehicles would be useful for ELINT and SIGINT (electronic intelligence and signal intelligence) but fitting every aircraft with expensive EW sytems is not needed.

And. SA has a small Muslim population and not seen has Islamic or a enemy of Islam by even the most extremist of Islamic groups. Any attack would be on a third party.

Even then tge chances are low. Regulare crime is a bigger threat.

Lol that's not rust. That's the steel used in building the boat. Steel does not rust. It would be painted in red.
That is rust but it surface level and not a issue. Just a cloth with thinners would do the job. You could just prime it. Over the rust inter prime paint would do the job. But a good wipe down is all ways best. O Interprime is not all ways red it can be grey.

As for why. Well bare metal does that over night.

Finally an armed SANDF MRAP
They normally unarmerd in SA but armerd on deployments. The SANDF Mraps have the same number of mounts has the export models. Though you unlikely to see a casspir with 3 MGs in SANDF colours. Each gunner is one less infantryman and they the true fighing force in a motorized battalion. The MRAP is just a battlefield Taxi that will provide some fire support to the attacking infantry.

Can someone please Explain to me why Drum Magazines aren't used by the worlds Armies. They seem to carry more rounds than the standard Magazines, and if its a matter of them being too expensive then why aren't they given exclusively to Special forces. SF guys tend to get involved in intense fire fights and I'm sure having to reload after firing 35/30 or 20 rounds must be a serious disadvantage for a small group of guys fighting Hundreds of enemy soldiers.
Reliability and ergonomics.

Hopefully this will force the Politicians in RSA to bump military spending somewhat

Not out of fear

But out of pride.

In the past, the fact that we only had between 8-14 operational was ok.... because you know "most advanced in Africa" and "8 is enough to guarantee air-superiority over any neighbor". But now, FVCKING BOTSWANA (A country most people cant find on a map with a population smaller than Johannesburg & Pretoria) will be operating allmost as many as SAAF... and probably have more operational.

This is too much. I am dead now.
There operastional level will be arround 5 to 6. We have 12 to 14. No nastion can maintain 100% readiness and keep up enough flying hours. Simply can not be done

Its insignificant compared to the the price.

Brazil is getting gripen E/F for about $120 million each, almost the same price as F35.
Loooking at a cost of a arma deal is all ways hard. What they buying iscall ways diffrint and not just a aircraft. Didcthe deal include training, logistics. Maintenance plan extra extra.
