a light weight platform I could see it supplementing the gecko by proving a Mobil shooting platform for the heavy weapons of a airborne group

you guys must find excuse shagrin.

how do you keep a low profile in a tense battlespace with the whole world knowing you are there already?

syria is a different ball game from iraq and afghanistan.

from the clips i've seen on the syrian war, everyone is packing light cos mobility is very important. even the russians
You answered the first question with your last sentence. They move around like that to blend in with every one and draw attention to them selves

Again, i have to agree with your assessment. However on the SU-30, we have never had a requirement for aircrafts such as the SU-30, i don't see Nigeria going for them. We'll rather develop the JF-17 to the Block 3 specs, then invest in a matured J-31.

Our requirement is for a multi-role aircraft, with an emphasis on ground attack. Not a frontline air-superiority.
the SU30 has great range and a massive bomb load it a deadly strike aircraft. But yes I agree it not really needed.

It looks cool. I guess a lot of Polymer was used in other to reduce weight. 8.4kg is light enough.
All so some changes to the barrel that both reduced the weight, increased the handling of heat and made it shorter. Still leathal out to 3000m and effective out to 1300m. Don't think it will enter serves for a few years but it s nice that we have options. Maybe denel could provide a few to the UN FIB to field test them.

They can only secure where they are. So the rural areas are still full of bandits and rebels that act like civilians when the UN drives throgh

The discussion is based on the JF-17 photo i posted, the Africa Truck the South-Africans posted, and the L-15 i also posted.

The discussions are all on topic, you don't suppose we would just post pictures without atleast a bit of discussion on them. We'll all get bored if it were so.

We all agreed that discussions have to be limited to photos posted. This thread would not turn into a derailers paradise, i won't allow it.
The truck is more just giving information. The JF-17 is me saying they should replace the F7 the L15 is well great a great aircraft that looks great and Nigeria should really look at getting a few.

My idea is by 2025 16 JF-17, 28 L15 that is one squadron of JF-17, one squadron of operational L15 and one training squadron of L15. by 2030 the you could have a second JF17 squadron or a squadron of something bigger like SU30. I don't see a use for F7 in Nigeria since there range and payload means they not the best in any thing but incepting aircraft a task not needed.

I don't think so Bro.
F7NI entered service between 2008 - 2010. We can't remove F7 from service since they are less that 10 years in service.
Why not they where purchased as a interim souloustion to a problem
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by andrewza: 8:16am On Sep 16, 2016
tdayof:
Do you mean one F-7 and one jf-17 for a base?
no as a JF17 enters operational serves you remove a F7.

Say whathuh grin grin grin LMAO!!!!
They were literally sheet boxes grin grin

Good riddance
don't say good bye yet

the new truck needs to be tested at a number of sites and under a number of conditions not to mention there is 4x4 6x6 and 8x8 version that alone could take a couple of years as each test will bring to light a weakness and lead to a redesign and more tests and then they will be built and they replacing thousands of trucks and nearly a hundred variants the last SAMIL may drive of 60 years old. And really that if the SANDF even cares about replacing them in a timely manner. The SAMIL does it's job and I would not be shocked if they leave with 3 million km on the clock they work horses.

phased out after being used for less than 12yrs...You r joking ryt?
put the order in this year first aircraft arrives in say 2 to 3 years with 1 or 2 to get it set up then the F7 will be 15 to 18 years old last one would leave after around 20 years if not more of serves

South Africa replacing 30yrs old samil trucks is really commendable.
It doesn't need to start falling apart before you call for its replacement
40 years old. Some with over a million km on the clock

The Alpha jets got to go, but the F-7s can still serve as Interceptors.
intercept what? They should be phased out when your new jets arrive in a 1 for 1 bases

I am talking about we doing reverse enginering and not some Chinese stuff.
the F7 is a reversed engineered mig21. Any case those mig 21s and the F7 are not something Nigeria needs. NAF needs a proper multi role advanced fighter witch they seem to be getting.

Damn grin That's alot. Stealth isn't cheap. grin

I bet if it was manufactured locally we could have cut cost. grin wish NESL has such capability.
That actually not that bad cost wise

ever though that western aircraft are agile but that they agile in a different way. Turing sharp is only one aspect of agility in a aircraft

lol grin
i am also saying the same thing except that 1-2 of the shown tricks ( in the posted picture ) have combat utility according to my knowledge/info.

i would have really enjoyed discussing the combat air tactics but last few days my brains tensed with real life problems.

on a better day i hope to enjoy discussing the same with u and M14A1 grin
i hope 2 of u will join again grin
rule of thumb if you slow to stall then you doing a trick

grin grin grin grin

i just have a simple query for u and andrewza

why would i have TVC installed in my fighter jets in-spite of the penalties of weight , maintenance , cost ?

i know 2 countries who employ hundreds of TVC equipped aircraft's , now why would they do that ?
for airshow 20-30 TVC equipped aircraft's are enough.

combat maneuvers and tactics run by a fighter aircraft are one of the most closely guarded secrets of an airforce , not shared even with closest allies .
I am not denianing the agility of the aircraft just saying the tricks shown are that tricks

ViceAdmiral:
Wait so SAPS has a counter assault unit,a TRT and the Special Task Force right? whats the difference between TRT, task force and counter assault unit in their employment?
Counter assault team is part of the VIP protections team. They there to act if the VIP is attacked.

We have TRT (police cluster level emergancy). NIU (national), Task force (things really bad) and HAWKS have there own tactical team to.

Maybe you got me wrong the first time.

Not the number of fights that need a backflip, but the number of airplanes that can actually pull it off in a tight loop,
Agility maneuver, that's all semantics.

If you recall

I didn't type that.

You said
Meaning any fighter jet can pull off the other maneuvers

Which i replied you thus
I am not saying others can or cant do those tricks. i am saying they tricks and not something that will affect combat in any way.
