agaugust: You missed a lot on this thread. NAF ATR-42 has been proved to be MPA + ISTAR + AWACS . I don't think you know what a AWAC is. It's not a radar in the sky. It a complete system. |

lezz: QUESTION: Is south Africa importing power from Mozambique and Namibia? Yes.
Your government borrowed billions to help eskom , turned out to money down a courtesan's warm fistula .
Eskom have actually started selling off some of its stakes to private firms to even stay afloat.
Load shedding is over?
You're petty lier with a peacock's ego and a self esteem made of glass. Our own power is being imported back. We have a set contract to give x amount and we buying x back. I have not had a load shedding in months. |

agaugust: NAF are great low level fliers, we do lots of air to ground attack in the last 20 years non-stop wars, real wars.
F-7 did much low level flying in Boko Haram war, using its cannon.
Nigeria has AWACS aircraft with 407 km range, if SAAF flies low, means you enter the crocodile's mouth, ATR-42 will send F-7 jets to a position behind the Gripen.....NAF has AWACS advantage over SAAF . Who said it was low level flying? Since when is a MPA a AWAC now+ |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 12:54pm On Jul 07, 2015 |
agaugust: Helmet mounted sight is useless against enemy jet you cannot see flying behind you, below you, above you, or 22 km away.
SAAF with 19 km range missiles has forced your pilots into close in combat WVR no escape zone. A 4,000 km/hr speed PL-9 missile needs just a few seconds to demolish a Gripen.
South African pilots have ZERO combat experience with Gripe jets and none of your pilots is combat qualified with standard flying hours, you lack both trainings s experience, SAAF is dead as an Egyptian mummy inside an ancient pyramid . SAAF are low level fliers. So you will struggle to get under. All aircraft are vulnerable to be attacked from behind. And your pilots have tones of combat training in to air to air v combat? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 4:41pm On Jul 06, 2015 |
agaugust: Mmmmmm !
Too many sources, combat pilots, etc have been confirming this fact that in close range combat WVR, everybody dies at same rate, and MiG-21 Bison of IAF could beat an F-15 of USAF, now F-16 of IAF beats RAF Typhoon.
The SAAF do not have qualified pilots, and Gripen cannot maneuver, the wings will break up and the Gripen will crash as proved by incidents.
I am sure NAF F-7 will beat SAAF Gripen with ease. Problem is a SAAF gripen does not need to dog fight since here missiles are linked to the helmet mounted sight. All so as shown by young lion SAAF pilots where very good at low level flying and close in dog fights. |

Henry120: NO, they should stop derailing this thread!
It is attitudes like theirs that keep breeding Dictators and Tyrants who just won't leave power. Talking and posting pics of these early MRAPs is not a bad idea though. Some of them where bonkers. There are 2 books on the subject. "Taming the landmine" and "surving the ride". Both good and worth a read. |

agaugust: . It's not the fault of Nigerians that this thread has over shot 2,000 pages. It's these Olumo Rock headed South Africans causing the elongation.
Simple arguments become so hard for them to understand. I think they all have issues.
@Andrewza is a white man who finds himself glued to South Africa where Zulus marry 4 wives, but his Boer white culture forces him to stick to just one life partner. His lustful greedy eyes see all those big azz navy girls and he gets angry for seeing what he cannot taste. Victim of monogamy, suffering hunger in the land of plenty.
@FighterPilot, claims to have BSc Military Science, but read his comments, seems he studied Agric Science. Don't defeat him in an argument o, he will make you regret it, he goes psycho and starts typing with CAPS + Bold + Size 20 Large Font.
@jln115 is a special case, when you argue with him about Chemistry, he will be answering you from a Geography text book. He needs urgent brain surgery.....or transplant.
@DictatorZAR.....should have been named DictatorZOO.....he bursts into people's argument like a buffalo escaped form a zoo and seeing freedom for the first time. I suspect he uses a borrowed laptop. Guy tends to be frustrated by some financial issues.
@THIZA is the coolest among them, but he thinks photographs can win a war. I suspect he is secretly a porn photographer in disguise.
@Saengine, needs help and deliverance from gay spirit. He is the only man I know that has a spirit husband instead of spirit wife. His deliverance will take 3 churches 3 years to complete.
@Mzilakazi, he is as confused as the spelling of his name/moniker. He argues like a 12 year old. I am sure he believes 1 + 1 = 11.
@Devluit, kid, childish troll. Who knows whether he is female or she is male, or hermaphrodite.
@Snydergyp, herbalist by profession, unrepentant polygamist, lives on government cash support, herbalist income cannot pay his bills, frustration galore, his internet bills keep mounting, runs out of browsing megabytes, disappears, then re-appears to cut off the head and tail of discussions he knew nothing about.
@Msauza is trapped between two worlds, wants a clean Nigerian wife from Enugu as his security from HIV epidemic in his South Africa where STD is more common than mobile phones.
@CraigB, likely kidnapped by some angry Zulu/Xhosa vendetta black men who kept the white boy off his trolling campaign on Nairaland. Likely kidnapped for ransom, we have not seen him this year. May his family raise the money and set him free o ! Problem is, he is not worth the amount of cash those kidnappers are asking for, so his family would rather let his captors keep feeding him.
@MikeZAR, a clone of Papa Ajasco, this guy will sell like hot cake if he takes to comedy. His most serious comments are also his most foolish.
@Patches, this one na thief big time. Scam, liar, 419, talented fraudster. Twister of the truth, manufacturer of lies, PhD in Fraud Engineering. One of the first things he asked me to post on this forum is my American credit card, he wants to clean out my account, if no be say I smart, I would have been bankrupted by now.
With these kind of people arguing on a thread, you still wonder why 2,000 pages, and yet a conclusion has eluded us ? Not a Boer and no I don't one 4 wives. That must be a living hell and expensive. |

One could say the first mass produced for the military, proper MRAP that could carry a crew and a squad of troops is the buffel. Most of the others where made in tiny numbers and not really suited for the military. Used only because they was nothing better. |

AugustineAgain: Military researcher, yes I am. Find a cure for your inferiority complex
Those pilots could wear a uniform of their training academy in Turkey or the manufacturers flying school uniform, yes it happens, in NATO countries of which Turkey is a member, some non government flying schools have special uniforms for students. Nobody knows the school they are in Turkey and nobody knows what uniform may be used there.
The uniform is Somali, that's what ALL of us on this forum did not know, I was the one who put it on the African photo forum and @africaken who is expert on uniforms in East Africa said it is Somalian uniform, nobody else here could identify it.
Your navy officer in SANDF navy, @andrewza has Lynx helicopters in his navy and he sees them, yet he does not know a Nigerian Lynx has radar inside the nose, then you should say he is a fake military man or fake naval officer telling lies that he works for South African navy !
Nobody is this world knows all things about all militaries all over the world 100%, not even the American military joint chief of staff ! There are millions and millions of military data, images, photos, information spread all over the world, anybody who claims to know it all is playing God and is as big liar.
Now military researcher, yes I am, it gives you inferiority complex, yes it does, your problem not mine.
I know enough to challenge the 3 chief of staffs in SANDF, SAN, SAAF all together at the same time, never mind you fraudulent guys here who say SAAF Gripen jets have air to ground missiles that you all could not tell us the missile name for the past 7 days
. lets play spot the difference. NAF SAAF https://www.saairforce.co.za/seed/public/files/gallery/3/10/78/47d505b1f289d_large.jpg |

Doesnt change the fact that a plethora of evidence has been produced regarding the use of LinkZA by multiple systems in the SANDF Its not fully implement on every thing, but every thing used operationally can use some kind of Data link. All new radios have to be linked with link ZA. |

agaugust: You are running away from my simple question, out of 2,500 Hinds, how many Super Hinds exist? Does it matter. At least 2 countries thought it was a good upgrade to swap out the Russian guns for a SA built 20mm. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 6:08am On May 03, 2015 |
agaugust: The best Russian Hind is the M-35M Hind E....SIPRI confirms Nigeria has many of those, best tech 2014 models . I have pointed out many times how it is not the best and given links. You just say it is the best because you say it is. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 6:04am On May 03, 2015 |
agaugust: I stated a general principle for cannon. Compare muzzle velocity of tank 105 mm gun and IFV 30 mm gun. Anybody can decide to build a supr rapid kinda 76 mm gun with higher speed.
Most IFV have better frontal armour, their roof behind turret is weak armour....most IFVs cannot survive 30 mm shells anywhere on their structure, there is no part of a Ratel or new Badger IFV that can survive 30 mm cannon shells from a Hind helicopter .
The Hind is a true gunship, one Hind can carry one 4 barrel 12.7mm on nose, and two double barrel 30mm on each wing....or pintle mounted 14.5mm heavy machine guns....that's a mass killer in any battle field. No IFV can survive a 20mm hit on the roof. So why the 30mm that as less rounds. The badger frontal arc can take a 30mm hit. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 6:00am On May 03, 2015 |
agaugust: Many modern Hinds have retractable landing gear. Variations do occur in producing variants. The Hind E landing gear was not made retractable to save weight and allow more payload. The most advanced hind is the pn. Part of the upgrade is fixed landing gear. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 5:58am On May 03, 2015 |
agaugust: Jack of all trades and master of all.
Stingers shot down old version 1980s Hind.
Current Hinds have flare dispensers and laser jammer, as well as laser/radar warning, plus heat signature suppressor.
The Hind's gating gun has tons of ammo. Bigger guns do not need lost of ammo, one short burst from a 30mm x 2 is death guaranteed.
Algeria was upgrading old Hinds purchased long ago, they just chose SA. Did India or Iraq come to you for Hind upgrades? . In trying to carry people exes weight was added, might be why it struggles to hover. And how have the heat signal been lowers since then. By copping the rooivalk? So do all SAAF choppers and all attack choppers since say the 1990s. Did you bother to chech how much ammo is carried or are you pulling stuff out your ass again. |

America imports and assembles Canadian LAVIIIs and calls them strikers and then puts a brit 105mm on it for extra fun. so what gun turret part did we Import in your fantasy land |

agaugust: Rooivalk stealth what ? Invisible to radar ? Naaa, it is a normal simple metal helicopter, DENEL marketing gimmick does not fool Nigerians, a 1960 era old radar will detect Rooivalk from 100 km away.
Mi-24/25 Hind has :
1. Mutli-role....Attack, Assault, Transport, Medevac, Reconaissance,
2. Superior weapons options including iron bombs and laser guided bombs
3. Better rockets with longer range and bigger warhead options including 130 mm
4. More powerful cannon and options, from 12.7 mm to 30 mm calibre guns and 4 to 6 barrels on wings and nose
5. Newer avionics suite, TV, FLIR, etc
6. Reduced heat signature
7. Advanced targeting systems and self defence.
Yap....Mi-35 Hind beats the Rooivalk hands down...yea yea men ! . jake of all trades master of none why do you need a chopper for bombs, o I forgot the hind fights like a fixed wing aircraft. and with a tiny ammo load out and unable to switch ammo in flight that's why Algeria asked SA to install SA avionics suite, TV, FLIR, etc on there hinds, to down grade them what? stingers loved them again Algeria wanted a down grade |
