Henry240: You have 26 Gripen jets, why would you have anything short of 26 pilots? The report is now some years old. We had only just received them. Pilots takes years to train. |

patriot4: You are two stubburn to hear reason. How does using just one camo help you to recognize your guys while the ennemy can also wear that same camo ? And in this case it is an ennemy which tends to impersonate your guys. So how does having only one camo help ? I really can't debate with you since I lack time and you lack imagination. Look at it this way: your army has three different camos and each soldier is provided with all camos, then you install a dress code which changes in function of the day and the unit. Therefor, you reduce the probability of being impersonated by the ennemy. How does haveing more than 1 cammo stop your enemy wearing your uniform. More so that Nigeria does not even use unique cammo. |

patriot4: Totally wrong, the soldiers know the uniforms better than I do, and up to today I have never made a mistake in recognizing a Nigerian military uniform. Moreover using just one uniform doesn't stop infiltration, because the terrorists can copy it (as they often do, they even did that in iraq against usa army), so I don't get the point you are trying to make. It is giving you headache, but not the soldiers and not me, because the soldiers and I are fammiliarized with the uniforms. The headache it is giving you is further proof that it is a good method to confuse outsiders. I think its best we end this discussion right here, knowing your stubbornness. Thats because you seeing them up close. Try telling them apart at 500 to 1000 meters. Having more than one uniform does not make harder to copy it does not change a thing. It does not give me a headache it will give the logistical guys a headache though. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by andrewza: 7:20am On Feb 28, 2015 |
patriot4: @mikeczar, actually you are wrong, the concept of many uniforms makes it harder to mimmic you. Because the soldiers know who is supposed to wear which camo, if you wear a camo and are spotted where those wearing it are not supposed to be, then you are in trouble. If someone is pretending to be from a certain unit but wears the wrong camo, then he is in trouble. Also for a specific mission the army could decide that all the soldiers participating in that mission would wear a certain camo, therefor the terrorists (who are famous for trying to impersonate soldiers) would find it more difficult to impersonate soldiers. The us military also has several camo. Now back to topic. Does not make any sense. Those fighting you know what unit they fighting and what cammo they wearing. It does nothing for help to stop infiltrators. In fact it causes confusion has solders must stop and think is that patrol there friendly or hostile. |

agaugust: You CANNOT buy military satellite and escape United Nations arms log registration, both buyer and seller will be in violation of legally binding UN Convention on arms transfer.
South Africa has no space satellite until confirmed by the Russians who manufacture it. Then Kondor-E is an ordinary satellite not a spy satellite.....Russian sources proved the specifications.
Dream on bro , hallucinations are free if charge, even street beggars have them . There is nothing forcing people to honour said rules. Russia did confirm some time ago it was for south Africa. |

Henry120: I differ, this isn't world war II.
However, man, the drill is very fvcking intense. These FSB guys showed a deep mental and tactical discipline. The drill was perfect, it had to be. To think they also perform this drill with assault weapon shows their weapons handling and trigger discipline is flawless.
Impressive!
If i'm a hostage, and had luxury of choosing my rescuers, it has to be the Russian FSB, Alpha group guys. I've seen enough to conclude definitively. You should watch the documentary of the task force. |

Wow I never knew your response would be such a tin foil hat response. You have no proof so come back with proof please. |

EVarn: lol.of course there will never be any mention of nigerian intelligence, whats the point of spying if everyone knows that you are spying? the truth is that; there are elements in your government, parliament and especially opposition party who aid our spies in intel gathering, and also covert ops{knowingly and unknowingly}. in recent years, there has been an escalation of nigerian intelligence covert operations in south africa, especially owing to boko haram. Your secret service is rubbish,go and sleep my friend. And this was all knowen by our Intel serves. All so they have little real control of the acstions of other departments. These are the group's that Where menstioned. |

EVarn: indeed, yet every country on earth the even remotely has an intelligence agency has infilterated your country. That's not actually stated. What was said in 2009 is that there where 140 spies in SA. All countries run spy teams has in more than one spy. Only major powers in the Intel world have been spoken about. Not one report even menstions Nigeria. |

agaugust: That fact that a local Nigerian terrorist entered your country shows your level of insecurity. Same way Rwandan assasins killed an ex-Rwandan officer inside South Africa, lol, even Rwandans enter South Africa with guns, kill people in broad daylight and escape under your funnel shaped noses....incompetence galore....Boko Haram can even assassinate Jacob Zuma in Pretoria. Lol. Yet he left Nigeria where he commuted his crimes and enters SA where he was not a threat to. That Rwandan officer was under SA protection. He left voulantarly. The assassins where felt with. agaugust: The most important weapons in South African military are all imported made in Europe, the weapons your defense industry makes are only good for defeating Lesotho and Burundi.
Gripen jet, Hawk jet, Valour Frigate, Heroine Submarine, Olifant/Centurion tanks, Starstreak missile, are all imported . The largest branch in the SANDF is the infantry. Getting more money and with more man power than any other group. It is our most importaned element. We can loose every thing you menstioned and still be able to defend our selfs with just our infantry. In Angola it was our infantry that did the bulk of the work. |
