agaugust: You don't win war by k.illing innocent civilians, it's the real armed enemy that gives you the real problem you have to kill. Mumu cheesy

so why did you bomb the town?

agaugust: Very intelligent Colonel, should promoted to Recce Battalion officer. Brilliant escapology from inside enemy territory, world class soldier.
.
If he was intelligent he would have been able to

A win the battle
B if not win at least not loose
C if loose to see it coming and get a proper withdrawal done.

The fact that a Colonel was put in that situation is highly wrong. Yes sure a lone solder cut off from his unit is not uncommon. But a senor officer?
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 7:32pm On Aug 13, 2014
agaugust: Seleka rebels were not hiding inside civilian houses, they stood openly outside SANDF base and fought their way inside....there were no civilians inside your army base.

Soweto gangs with AK-47 rifles will be roasted by Boko Haram 14.5mm twin barrel anti-aircraft
guns and 23mm cannon plus IED bombs. Boko Haram is strong enough to fight Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad all at the same time
The Base never fell though nor where any SA solders lost at the Base. The only time Seleka solders got inside was after the cease fire was agreed on.

Home court advantage and numbers for armed SA civlians. A group like BH would have a much harder time in SA. Many a SWAPO and ANC infiltrator was killed or captured by civilian farmers. Never heard of South Africa's police reservists.

huhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuh??

They where built by the SA army, US only got MRAPs in the 21 century, and the original MRAPs are long since gone, expect for sir lanker.

About that in a week. feel sorry for them.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 6:50pm On Aug 13, 2014
agaugust: No, we fought Boko infantry mixed with civilians inside a town.

Let me see SANDF fight Seleka rebels mixed with civilians inside Soweto township so you can use G-6 Artillery guns to show your power inside Soweto towns with thousands of civilains cheesy
.
You do know the heaviest fighting in CAR took place inside Bangue, some time ago I posted a link to a power point prestastion that showed the locations of the fir fights.

Soweto civlians would probably kill the BH fighters long before the army is called up. 2 million+ legal firearms in SA.

agaugust: Google battle of Damboa, new world record !

.
Does BH have tanks, GBADs, Arty, IFV, APC, extra

You fought light infantry with support from technical with tanks, Air support, extra and it was a hard fight.

If we had that much support in CAR seleka would have made page 6 in the news papers.

Nope, gets your facts lined up strait. One guy in the ANC(SANDF never choose the end product, they just said what they will have and guess what the Gripen was the best choice) was offered some sweater by BAE not SAAB.

patches689: The budget shortfall is part of a PR campaign for the defence reveiw

Think about it - during the budget speeches, which department said "we are adequately funded, we don't need anymore money"

No dpertment of any nation has ever said that ever

Even the pentagon, the most well funded military in the world constantly claims they are just short of broke.

That is the nature of a military especially. We could give them all the money in the world and they would still ask for more
is possible, I mean this news came out just before the budget speech.

question, why would the SAPS need to jam a cell phone 50KM away? I mean SA intel guys can just remove it from the network, or better yet, turn your own phone in to a tracker and bug. In fact jammers are only really needed to deal with Bombs. IEDs are not really a threat in SA now are they.

Nigeria: Navy Destroyed 1,556 Illegal Oil Refineries, Nabbed 1,646 Suspects in 2013 - CNS
24 December 2013

Abuja — Chief of Naval Staff, CNS, Vice-Admiral Dele Ezeoba, yesterday said the Nigerian Navy destroyed 1,556 illegal oil refineries and arrested 1,646 suspects in 2013.

Ezeoba disclosed this at the launch of the Chief of Naval Staff Strategic Guidance, SG, 02 in Abuja, yesterday.

He said: "The Nigerian Navy destroyed 1,556 illegal oil refineries, 103 barges, 69,606 auxiliary equipment and 1,443 large wooden boats.'Between October 2012 and September 2013, more than 1,646 suspects were arrested and handed over to either the Nigeria Police Force, EFCC or the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for trial."

He said the incidence of piracy had been reduced considerably."For instance, between January and September 2013, the Nigerian Navy received 91 alerts of

suspected sea robbery and piracy within Nigeria's maritime space," he added.

According to Ezeoba, the Nigerian Navy responded to 64 cases of sea robbery and is currently investigating 22 of the remaining cases. The chief of naval staff also said the two hijacked vessels, MV Crow and MT Norte, with 17,000 metric tonnes of gasoline, were successfully rescued by the Navy.

"Currently, two offshore patrol vessels are under construction, one to be fully built in China and the other to be completed in the Naval Shipyard Limited, Port Harcourt," he added.

Ezeoba also said the Navy had acquired a U.S. Coast Guard Ship, USCGC Gallatin which is expected to sail into the country by the second quarter of 2014.

"Following the achievement of the aforementioned milestone, which was the essence of my SG 01, it has now become necessary to issue my SG 02," he said.

Accordingly, the Chief of Naval Staff, SG 02 was duly promulgated on Nov. 1, 2013, to ensure that the directives contained therein are carried out.

agaugust: South Africa had zero endurance to fight ordinary Seleka rebels for one day, how will you have endurance to fight Egypt's 1.5 million man army ?

you better write your will now and sign your own death warrant, because Egypt will speed up your premature obituary cheesy

.
then why are there planes to return. We pulled out due to politics not military requirements.

agaugust: no wonder you have only 11 Rooivalk helicpters since you cannot afford to pay DENEL for more than 11 units to fight the likes of Botswana cheesy
original requirement was only 12 currently it sits at 18 gunships so we only 7 short of our requirements.

It not that we can not afford more it is jut that there are bigger needs such has airlift, and new medium helicopters.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 7:09pm On Dec 19, 2013
chris365: guy, NAF built the damn drone and the president launched a large airforce factory for more production by the airforce for the airforce.

unlike SANDF, our military can independently develop their weapons and collaborate with private and state defence companies if need be. tongue
SANDF has no need to build it's own wepaons, there are state owned companys that fall under the DoD that do that.

agaugust: current south african airforce drunkard pilots have zero combat experience

nigerian Alpha jet and F-7 jet pilots have been engaged in air to ground combat for the past 20 years till today, even against enemy forces that fired anti-aircraft guns on them.

south african air force pilots spend all their time drinking alcohol and posing for @THIZA to photograph them.

they get salaries paid to them every month, yet cannot fight war !

show us any war where your soweto Hawk and Gripen jets have fired any weapon against even one cockroach cheesy

agaugust: nigerian airforce produces the drone, not a private company or a federal government company like DICON.

the air force produces the drones for itself with its own funds. same way nigerian navy did for NNS Andoni ship, we did not order it from any company, our navy built it and uses it now.

nigerian policy and regulations are different from those of south africa. what limits you does not limit us.
and currently they can not build production models.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 4:37pm On Dec 19, 2013
Henry120: My friend sharap your mouth. No one here is seeking your validation. The undeniable facts for nigeria is, we are constantly and rapidly developing our defence industry.

The drone is able to spend 7 hours in flight, and it functions perfectly in night-time flights.

He said the government should upgrade the AFIT from a limited innovative research outfit into a viable aircraft production centre with the capacity to mass-produce indigenous UAVs. Acting defence minister Labaran Maku said Nigeria needs a comprehensive policy to support the development of indigenous UAVs to enhance the operations of security services presently battling the Boko Haram insurgency in the north and maritime crimes and oil theft in the Gulf of Guinea and Niger Delta areas.
