SportsRe: Odemwingie, Taiwo, Uche Set For Eagles Recall by Anvaller: 9:11pm On Nov 24, 2013
ROSSIKE: Keshi needs to stop treating Bright Dike like an afterthought just because he plays in the MLS. That guy is deadly on the field and his eye for goal is second to none.
God will bless u a thousand folds, u stole my thoughts. That Dike guy has the potential to be one of our all time best strikers if the coach takes him seriously, he had only being tried twice and he delivered on both occasions and on both occasions, he scored superb goals (not cheap easy goals). Compare that to guys like Oduamadi that had been tried countless times and u hardly see him on the field. Dike is very ambitious and he understands that he really needs super eagles, those are the kind of players that we want, players that love to play for super eagles. But somehow ppl don't want to respect him may be beacuse he plays in the MLS but the MLS itself is improving and its better than some European league at this moment.

Dike can conveniently stand as a good substitute for Emenike on a good day or he can even pair the 2 upfront, all we need is a composed midfield that gets the ball to them. If Keshi do not take him to the world cup, he will be one good striker short.
SportsRe: Name Your 23-man Team That Keshi Should Take To The World Cup by Anvaller: 8:59pm On Nov 24, 2013
The kind of selections I am seeing here have actually shown that there is now way Keshi will satisfy most ppl on NL. There are bunch of players being mentioned that can never make it considering many factors. I also see sentiment in some selections.

Concerning Ideye, unfortunately that guy will likely make world cup cos I guess Keshi likes him plus he is not so much a bad player if he is only going to assist. Just don't use him as a top striker. Oduamadi might not make it, he is bad at every thing, he assists poorly and he has no finishing.

Please forget guys like Yobo, Osaze, Iheanacho and co. I freak out when I see those names. Guys like Iheanacho, Alampasu could be tried out at the next AFCON. This is world cup pls we can only try young players if we had a team as strong as Spain, Brazil or Germany.
SportsRe: Odemwingie, Taiwo, Uche Set For Eagles Recall by Anvaller: 8:41pm On Nov 24, 2013
If Keshi will have to inject some new players into that team, he should think about enforcing the midfield. If u go to the world cup with a weak midfield or a midfield that lacks replacement when ur 1st choice are tired or injured, then u can't survive even if u have a bunch of messi's & ronaldos upfront.

At this point, Keshi only needs to find a way to blend the team very well, the strikers he has now are good enough if they have a very good midfield that gets the ball to them at convenient angles. Due to that, I don't think he should call anyone for now if he is not either a midfielder or a defender.
what is ideye +ogu doing in that team.
Ideye yes but Ogu? In my own opinion I think that Ogu guy dey try, he knows how to position himself for loose ball outside the box and he fires shots that are most time on-target.

SportsRe: Keshi – Nigeria Can Win The World Cup, Nothing Is Impossible by Anvaller: 10:15pm On Nov 14, 2013
For all u pessimists making ridiculous comments here, u need to shut it. Must u say something? This man did not say he is going to win the world cup, he said it is not impossible. If he said he doesn't believe eagles will win the world cup, all of u here will still bash him for having loser's mentality.

Why are u talking so low of him for having the right attitude, for believing in himself and his boys, for encouraging his guys to think big and go for the best, for psyching his boys up as any good coach in the world would. What is wrong with Africans, we just like to talk without carefully thinking. Majority of black ppl are the ones who will never believe in their fellow black man as he struggles to succeed but the moment he records success they will all come out in droves and pretend as if they had been believing in him all along so they can identify with the success.. Hypocrisy.

Such played out not long ago, @AFCON victory. Majority here knew 101 mistakes that Keshi was making and why we were never going to win AFCON but we won. They have started again.

FoodRe: How Hygienic Is Roadside Roasted Plantain: Bolé by Anvaller: 1:26pm On Nov 11, 2013
@OP

The correct spelling is "BOOLI" pronounced as "boli" (Yoruba)
"Bole" as u wrote would have to be pronounced as "bohlay" if u said that beside me, I wouldn't know what u are talking about.

Now to the main point u raised concerning hygiene, well u are right that the environment in which it is roasted is unclean but it is important to note that bacteria can not survive under the condition where the Booli is being processed. 1) High temperature 2) Low moisture. Although the moisture content of the Booli increases on th inner part but since ur concern is on the outer part, there is not much problem cos the outer part is heated till its dry.

However, this does not mean that it is completely safe because of some die hard bacteria that may survive heat above 100 degrees but since it is heated, the risk probability is not as high as u might be thinking.

I await 2015 sha..when Oyo state decides
and what if they are not competent? Or do u mean it is automatic that they will be competent since they are children of these ppl? We need to be more rational and less sentimental.

deols: How so? Never heard of his achievements. I was at Adamasingba sometime ago and the place is as old as it has always been.

Not sure if his ministry takes care of liberty stadium. the swimming pool there is dirtier than gutter water.
Dapo doesn't have business with Liberty whatsoever. And I can tell u this, even though I am not a supporter of Dapo, infact Oyo APC in general since they are all thieves but I can tell you that I saw 3SC's matches on youtube and the main bowl is looking presentable plus a well laid pitch. I can't say any thing of other sport facilities within the complex.
PoliticsRe: Oyo Lawmakers Screen Olubadan And Arisekola's Sons For Cabinet Positions by Anvaller: 12:17pm On Nov 07, 2013
It is very glaring that he just selected a 2015 election cabinet.

Amongst them, he appointed the son of Alaafin, additional to one of his son that has been made more or less permanent chairman of Atiba Local Government but since Alaafin is insatiable, Ajimobi decided to appoint another of his son as a commissioner so that he can be very sure that Alaafin will support him for 2nd term. Once Alaafin is sufficiently fed fat, nobody else in Oyo town is relevant politically since he Alaafin tells them who they must vote for.

He appointed the son of Olubadan, to appease not only Olubadan but all the concomitant political influences of the Olubadan in Council so that they can have his back for the impending 2015 election.

He appointed the son of Arishekola the Grand Master Planner, The Chief Political Mercenary of Ibadan politics in order to appease him. Once Arishekola is appeased, to a large extent, the Ibadan Elders Forum is also pocketed.

He reappointed Dapo lam of course because if he didn't, the Lamist group in APC will declare open war against him since Lam is their only voice in his cabinet of which they had been protesting before of gross under representation. So he knows if he doesn't call Dapo back, it will surely spell doom for him.

Its all about feeding those that should be fed for a successful re-election.
IslamRe: What Stops You From Wearing The Hijab? by Anvaller: 9:54pm On Nov 02, 2013
@OP I beg to disagree with you. U can not categorically state that a woman who doesn't wear hijab is committing a sin or will go to hell. Now u have quoted 2 verses from 2 surahs and u went ahead and said it was explicitly ordered. Well Alfa, nothing is explicit about the order of Hijab in the quoted verses. Did u not read it?

Do u want to know what is explicit? What is explicit in those verses is that women should cover their modesty, they should wear clothes "garments" that cover their bosoms. Now we all know what bosom is. And what is also clear is that there is an exception, "except the parts that are apparent thereof" so which part of a woman can reveal the beauty of a woman apparently? The face, the hair, the arms and the legs (if she has beautiful arms and legs)

Now what does hijab cover? Hijab covers the hair, some parts of the face and it may or may not cover the arms and the legs. Correlate that with what is in the Quran, i.e to draw garment over the body and a part of the body "bosom" was particularly mentioned. So any Muslim woman who wears clothes from any parts of the world, from any culture that sufficiently covers her body, not exposing the bosom, the buttocks and the upper parts of their legs have kept to instructions of the revelation. Nothing in this verses implies that women should cover their hair or their faces because those are the apparent parts of their body that may be inconvenient to cover hence the reason for the given exception. If u object to this point, that means u are objecting to the exception in the verse. The Quran is expected to be read and understood in totality, not to absorb a part and ignore the other.

Any Muslim woman who wants to wear hijab can wear it but u should stop imposing it as if it is obligatory for all Muslim women. What is obligatory is to dress modestly and not expose ur "vital" body parts or clothes that are too tight on you. What I expect from this kind of teaching from Alfas like u is teach women on the importance of dressing modestly, and what God says about dressing modestly, that is the bottom line.

@topic. They are evrywhere now, ikeja, island, oshodi. But my friend in america told me there is something like canadian visa lottery. He even sent me a link last year and one of our friends did it and in canada now. So i dont know the mix up now.
Come on now! Why do u have to ponder over that in bold. If there is anything like Canada Lottery, all u need to do is check cic and then check all the visa categories. If u can't find anything like lottery, that means it doesn't exist no matter what anyone is telling u. Let me tell u this, there are so many ways u can enter Canada, its all about knowing which route u wanna take or qualified for and u just go for it and then boom!!!... oh ok may be not just boom like that cos it takes a lot of time but u will get there. Do ur research guys do ur research stop listening to this person in america and that person in london. Do ur own research.

Even some of all these so called agents are craps, majority of them are utter garbage and a waste of time... so the best bet for u is to rely on ur own self.

Please warn any gullible being out there... there is nothing like Canada visa lottery... Please be warned... if you need any info about Canada... visit

www.cic.gc.ca or any of the travel sections on Nairaland... dont fall for this please...
Ok dude, I understand your concern but from this picture, there is no cause for alarm whatsoever, most especially from a legal point of view. They did not advertise Visa Lottery, they only advertised Canada Visa for work, live and study and there is nowhere that says u are guaranteed to get visa at that cost and at their services. From that perspective if a client goes to them and they charge 500naira, well they might have produced information and tips on how u can go about ur applications. It's not too bad if they charged 500naira for that, at least they are not charging 5000naira. If anyone do not want to be shortchanged, go online and do ur own research. If u can't then u must be ready to pay for ur laziness that's it.

Well as a man, I can categorically tell you that you left out the most important part that all men will find irresistible. U mentioned sexy but sexy alone isn't just enough. She has to be s3xually mind-blowing and I will always wanna be there wherever she is. But if she is s3xually boring, not creative and unadventurous, she would then be very resistible.

I can't believe u left that out, are u the type that will discuss everything around s3x but not s3x itself? Cos that is very common with Naija chicks.

IslamRe: Would You Marry A Second Wife If You Were Wealthy? by Anvaller:
Look @OP let me tell you this.

In Islam, a woman has right to make decisions for her needs in advance. The issue of marrying 4 wives is not obligatory because the only verse that is used to back this practice is verse 3 of Surat An-Nisah which is always quoted out of context. If u look at that Surah, it is a revelation that is actually dedicated to giving instructions on how to take care of orphans.

In that verse (Quran 4:3) which is always quoted out of context, there is a condition with which u are allowed to marry up to 4 wives and u will find the condition in the previous verses. So this exception is only given to men who have custody of orphans and it is very clear. Based on that, there is no justification for a Muslim man to marry 4 wives unless he meets the conditions in the previous verse of which the quoted verse qualifies. However, it is also not very clear that marrying 4 wives is a sin in Islam but what is clear is a sin is as follows:

1) If u married 4 wives out of consent of all or any of the wives, u have gone against the rule.
2) If u married 4 wives and are not able to equally meet ur obligations
3) If u married 4 wives and are not taking care of orphans or even if we generalize it a bit, u are not into any form of philanthropy whereby u take care and feed the less privileged of which the task of doing so may overburden ur wife.

So all u need to do is let ur would be husband know that u will never be giving consent to his decision to marry another wife in case he is willing to attempt it in future.

Now what does marriage entail in Islam, There has to be consent between u and ur would be spouse, both parents and there has to be a contract.
That contract is the most important. The man and the woman will both agree on their expectation in the marriage and that agreement must be kept in any form. So if Islam allows contract which also actively exists in western laws called Prenuptial Agreement or "Prenup" it is left to u to agree in advance what u want in a wedding. All u need to do is not get married to a man who will not include in the contract that he is ready to be with only you.

Checking the logical connection of prenup in Islam with requirement for divorce in Islam, Divorce is allowed if one of the spouse is no more keeping their conjugal obligations, wants and needs. So the question is, how would u determine that a party is defaulting in a marriage if there was no prior definition of obligations? Therefore, bear it in mind that u can have ur wants clearly defined in advance of a marriage and do not let some Alfas railroad u into believing that it is what u have to accept without choice. The man can of course also have his wants defined.

Islam is not any barbaric as some of these clergies always want to make it out to look.

Exactly, the OP's question is somehow improperly framed. Eating Suya itself can't be hygienic in this context. He should have asked whether it was healthy to eat Suya due to the seemingly unhygienic way of preparing it.

I know that many NLers would be like this description of yours. Though that might be fun to you but this kind of e-habit degenerates everyone's mentality around the world. You never can tell how ur bullying, insults or any kind of attack would affect the attacked, some ppl are so weak minded. That is why I don't like it when ppl cyber abuse each other. Look for example the rampant tribal bashing or religious "conflict" on NL, I know in my mind that some of the guys that are in the habit of perpetrating it here might not really mean it and some would never even say those things in real life but they are just catching fun on NL and being silly. But the consequence is grave because many would not take it as a joke, they will conceive that information has being real and it will underly their mindset which in turn cultivate prejudice amongst ppl. Simply because of the comments they see on NL of which the writer of the comment was likely not serious about in the first place, if u know what I mean.

Unfortunately, some ppl derive pleasure in causing commotion, confusion and disturbance while they sit on a corner and laugh but seriously, that is wicked. I really do not like it.

It is not easy to fix friendly matches, A lot of stuffs would need to be put into consideration before arriving at a date, do u think it is only Nigeria that will be willing to play a friendly with Italy? Nigeria and Nigerian players have their schedule, the same for Italy, they both need to arrive at a date that is convenient for all parties involved even including the management of fulham who owns the venue. Let's not just criticize because its convenient to criticize.
FamilyRe: Why Are Married Men Never Contented With Their Wives? by Anvaller: 12:17pm On Oct 14, 2013
Interesting, it might be due to different reasons

1) Men are generally, instinctively polygamous in nature by default. But the society these days is telling men to stick to one woman which is a difficult task for men. The case of man and woman vs polygamy and monogamy is like that of a domestic dog and wild dog. If u force a wild dog to play around with a domestic dog and abide by domestic rules, the wild dog will have to sacrifice more to conform with the domestic rules of living because the dog is though a dog but would have more fun if he was allowed to frolic in the wild. That is where he naturally belongs. Forcing a man to stay with a woman is societal norm/standard but unfortunately a misfit for the sexual nature of men. Hence the reason why no one could explain why more men are guilty of promiscuity at a significant margin compared to women. It is only natural. Look at the ancient times including history records from both in and outside of religion, when lifestyle of men is yet to be distorted, when ppl live purely based on natural instinct, it was then a norm for a man to have 2 or more women.

2) Insincerity from either of or both parties regarding their sexual desires and need. When a man a woman are married to each other, they mostly ignore the fundamental issues that will bond them together as a couple. Most couples even at their level of education and exposure are still shy to discuss sex with each other. The wife would pretend as if she doesn't know or care about being creative on bed in order for the husband not to think that she is or was a b1tch. The same thing goes with the man, he might have projected a pastor-like personality to his wife during courtship and so after marriage, it might be difficult to now revert to his sex-beast being that he is. So in this case both of them live a lie but it's always easier for the man, the man normally look outside and find a lady that will perform all the acrobatics that he would never have asked from his wife. (pls if u are single and reading this, try to note it very well, I am not joking, these are issues I have seen from friends here and there and even in some cases it is as bad as irreconcilable difference and then a break up)

3) Lack of love, some men or also women do not really love their spouse for a reason. Having intercourse with someone u do not love is one of the most boring stuff most especially if that is the only option that u have. So men and also sometimes women, look outside of their marriage for someone to love and of course have sex with. This happens because our society frown at divorce so that is the usual solution for many, u remain married but seeing somebody else on the side.

4) Sheer recklessness, some men do not have any reason whatsoever to cheat on their wives but they just do it for fun... I.d blame this on the 1st point that I analyzed above tho.

Cheers!

@OP let me tell u this, the way u are dressed is the way u are addressed. If ppl judge Davido based on the kind of "bad boy" image he has created for himself, who do u blame for that? If I go about doing the gangsta rap and making money out of it, would I blame ppl if they actually think I am a gangsta or just blame it on the game? Davido is either actually a bad boy or just pretending to be one. Whichever way, U can't blame ppl for having a negative perception of him.

Enjoy the cash money tho and it's impressive that u at least appreciate the gift from him. Good luck.
FamilyRe: Proud Your Child Can't Speak Your Native Tongue? by Anvaller: 2:40pm On Oct 11, 2013
souldust: @okija juju I was born and brought up in Lagos. Never traveled home until i was a bit older. And anytime i travelled home, i dont spend so much time there.

All through my childhood days, we were the only people from my state living in the whole area. This means i am like that child that you said grew up in the UK where his language isnt too prevalent. I grew up up to know how to speak English, Yoruba and my local language just as i grew up to know my name and there is no interference what so ever.
This was made possible by my parent.
They spoke the language to me in the house, i learnt yoruba from my neighbours and English at school.

As for the constant practice, yes you are right. But if a parent always speaks the indeginous language to his child anytime he wants to talk to him and no matter how much time he spends with the child in a day even if it is one min, that child would definitely grow up to be able to speak his fathers language.
This explains my point so far. Thanks buddy.
I can never disagree with you!! NEVER!!

But its not set in stone... Again, a child that grows up in Onitsha in more likely to speak Igbo better than a child that grows up in the United Kingdom.. #FACT!

Now if you as a parent puts in that extra effort to ensure that they learn the language, sure it would work.. But again, its easier for a child that grew in france to learn french than it will be for a child that grew up in Onitsha to learn the same french.

Also, the trick to learning a language is practice, practice and more practice.. If the child does not have that constant practice, its gonna be hard.

Not every family has that same environment..

Look dude, ur username is a reflection of ur enslaved mindset. People like u are very likely unambitious, ur only ambition is to live in a white man's land and consume their innovations to ur death. If u look at the great respected Africans internationally who are initiating and innovating things, they are different from ppl like u, they are all very connected to and identify with their origin irrespective of how many years they have lived in the western world at one time or the other in their lives. This is because they are intelligent enough to know the essence of it.
I see alot of people being super sentimental about this topic..

Is Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Effik, Ibibio, Idoma, Ogba, Ikwerre, Ogoni, e.t.c. spoken as an official language in Nigeria?! NO!!

So you are Igbo, you live in Lagos, your kids school in Ikoyi Lagos, you and your wife work 7 - 7, the grandparents are dead or barely come for long visits, the kids are exposed to a society where only english is spoken, their vacations are overseas, they have barely spent more than 5 days in the village at any particular time, Mum is Yoruba, Daddy is Idoma (so its not like even at home both parents speak to each other in one local language...), Television shows only foreign programmes, e.t.c.. HOW THEN DO YOU EXPECT THE KIDS TO LEARN TO SPEAK?!

The truth is that many people have simply thrown Language and tradition aside and focused on the pursuit of money and happiness.

- A child that grows up in Onitsha is more likely to be able to speak Igbo than a child that grew up in the United Kingdom.
- How many of you are willing to deport your children back to your villages to live and grow for a year in other to interact with thier people, learn their ways and traditions and our culture and religous practices?!

Like I said, the times have changed... Things aint like they use to be before. I told my younger brother about a fishing trip (actually its was a natural pond located inside a think swamp forest in my village) I went on with my dad and my uncles in the village. Told him about the encounter with over 20 - 30 snakes on the trip, told him about the encounter with crocodiles and all the fishes we caught that filled 3 cars.. Told him about how my uncle poured libation, made some incantations and the snakes all started leaving without attacking anybody, told him about the beliefs that the snakes were the protectors of the pond, told him the law of strangers taking fish from the pond, told him about the time keeper bird that flew over us inside the bush signifying that it was time for us to leave otherwise the darkness would fall on us so fast, we would not be able to find our way out until the next morning, e.t.c.. He just stood there looking at me with bewilderment.. I really wished he can experience this.. Now this pond is still there and I have been trying to get my father to take me back to the pond so that I can take possession of it as he is no longer interested in it, but he just does not have that kind of time..

Sadly, my father does not have that kind of time on his hands anymore.. My siblings have not been to either villages in like over 12 - 15 years.. Grandparents are dead, village is now unsafe with rampant kidnappings and robberies, family members that are now haters, e.t.c..

The last trip I had to the village as a child for Christmas ended up with my uncle summoning my father before a Native Doctor.. grin

Now imagine the mess... How were my younger ones supposed to ever learn the language. Some of you have similar stories as well. Dont use your life to judge others..

All I can pray for now is that by the time the next generation arrives, my parents would be in the last phase of life (i.e retirement) and would be the ones to teach our (i.e my kids and those of my siblings) the traditions and culture of our people including the language & religous practices.

If a kid cant speak his or her local Language in 2013... Nna, I dont blame them. The times of our fathers and now are not the same.
I disagree completely. Ur child will definitely speak ur language if u speak it to them no matter where in the world you are. U don't need to argue this, it happens everywhere. It doesnt make sense to think u need to go as far as sending ur child away to a place where some 3rd parties will speak the language to them when u the parents are in a better position to speak it to the child. A constant change of environment is also no excuse because the mother tongue will be the only language that is constant to the child as u move from one place to the other. Unless u refuse to speak it which will still come back to the fact that its the parent's fault.
FamilyRe: Proud Your Child Can't Speak Your Native Tongue? by Anvaller:
Okay very interesting topic, I kind of agree with majority of the comments here but this is what I would like to add.

Firstly, some parents erroneously think that depriving their child the ability to learn their local language will automatically enhance their ability to learn English... Totally wrong... Research and simple observations have shown that little kids are able to learn as many languages as they are exposed to synchronously and spontaneously. So these type of parents are just plain ignorant and are depriving their children from reaching their potentials.

Secondly, it would be a dumb assumption for anyone to think that he is somehow better speaking English only than another person who speaks both English and a local language that he or she refuses to learn to speak. In fact these days, society measure one's level of intelligence based on how much language u speak. It doesn't matter what language that is.

Thirdly, some of these group of Nigerians strongly believe that the more they detach themselves from their local attributes including most especially the language, the more American or European they would become. This is also totally completely false. I know a lot of Nigerians including myself that speak both Yoruba and English without accent flawlessly. This allows u to integrate in ur Nigerian community when u speak ur local language without stress and also in the western community when u speak fluent English with unambiguous accent, either way u win. So those ones who are detaching themselves are just losers and some of them are realizing it tho.

Lastly, it's a known fact that no matter how much u detach urself from where u actually belong, u still can't be a part of where you do not belong or those who u are pretending to be, no matter how much american accent u speak for example, u still can not pretend to be African-American cos when the chips are down, the "african-americans" would tell u that u are african and not "african-american" So would u then go back to being Nigerian that u never really were? So parents, think about what you are doing.

And last I checked, the African Americans in America "stereo-typically" do not have that much impressive image amongst the class of people in America if anything, Nigerians/ Africans in general have a better image than them in terms of education, socio economic status and low crime. So why would anyone want to lose his/her own original identity and values just to pretend to be African-American? At least you obviously can't pretend to be white American.

Black folks/Africans/Nigerians, we seriously need to start thinking about the stuffs that we do. The world is looking at us and I bet they are laughing at us but are we so dumb to figure this out.

emiye: Your attempt at teaching logic failed. Teacher dont teach me nonsense #in fela's voice

Let me teach you simple logic.
Relocation of students from one school to another could mean the student house is now closer to his/her new school or the student house is now farther to his/her new school .

Please dont try to argue this with me, i know i am right.
Hahaha look at this dude, ur logic is not logic if it is inconclusive. So how is it logically of any advantage for a student whose house is now farther to his/her new school? What point are u trying to make here? No matter how u slice it, a certain group of students have been disadvantaged by relocating their schools. Yes it might be benefit for some other students but who makes up for the students that will suffer for it?
