Rosskii:Dude, govts with foresight and vision across the globe enacted laws, enforced them and created the enabling environment for investment, industrialisation and rapid development. China is a very recent example. The private sector was even small and govt banks financed much of the growth. But their govt had the right vision for the system they run. And we can all see the result. While blaming govt for everything may not be right, it;s still the most guilty party. Because it has the public purse and the MDAs, the security services, control of the NASS as the ruling party also having majority there to pass laws and other state apparatuses. To provide viable economic policies, ensure security, rule of law, provide infrastructure (road, rail, seaports/airports, electricity, etc}, fight corruption and many more. Let 90% of corrupt people from private and public sector irrespective of party affiliation, tribe or religion be convicted successfully and sent to jail for 10 years or more see if corruption won't go down drastically. No way you can exonerate or even mitigated the failure of govt in Nigeria since 1960. |
Lol. Na real first time. Snow wey go soon dey annoy you. ![]() |
jesmond3945:That's exactly true. Most over 55 grew up when overt racism was still very much around. And only very few are not biased to some extent. But they can camouflage it very nicely. They have centuries of practice. You must be quick in assessing them. They also do not like it if you are too knowledgeable and you can school them. Even a barely literate one still wants to form for you as a black guy. The men even gossip more than the women. Their background gives a clue about who they are. Once you know who they are, then you know what to divulge to them and what not to. Best thing is to remain mysterious to them than be predictable. But be professional and ensure you do your duties to the highest standard daily. Mutual respect should generally be your aim, not necessarily to be liked. Certainly do not be needy for them to like you. That way you can get to your destination without having to lick arse or gossip or assassinate anyone's character. |
Tekzyflex:And the hypocritical conservatism due to religiosity may be the reason for this evil act. Many religious parents care more about saving face. About what church members, neighbours, friends and enemies will say if their daughter has babies out of wedlock. killing these babies to avoid shame might be lesser evil to such parents than having the babies for the whole world to see. Of course it can also be due to traditional conservatism. Again to save face. How can my daughter have twins without her bride-price being paid? How can she marry a guy from a lower caste or class? Add that to a largely ignorant youth (as often displayed by many so-called educated young people here on NL), then you have the recipe for killing innocent babies and foetuses. Rip little ones. |
Awful. |
Nmezor:I wonder o my dear. |
EmekaMD:Kikikikiki. ![]() Oga Maj. Gen., who will invest in a country whose people you lambasted abroad as corrupt? The youth drive a nation's economy. But you told the whole world we are lazy. Well, las las na to blame Dame Pat, GEJ and Wike. After almost five years in power. 50% of youth are women. But they belong in the other room. Lazy female youth in the other room. Not a good selling point for any nation. Then no security, no light and no respect for the law. Only gamblers will invest in such a place. |
executive12:Dude, we Southerners are very politically naive. Children voting in the North especially in Kano won the vote in recent years. You know when evidence is shown of kids voting, partisanship doesn't allow us to be objective. As long as the candidate/party we support wins. Northvietnam's threat is not an empty one. They control most security outfits that aid and abet rigging. So they can even easily rig elections in the South alongside local thugs. But the North need to beware. They might not have a Nigeria to rig elections in or determine which president to rule. He who makes a peaceful change impossible makes a violent change inevitable. |
fasterwell:The North believe they have SW leaders under control. To always use against the South's interest anytime. Since the past few decades now. After Pa Awo passed. Sadly SW population believing in "Omoluabi" spirit largely believe their leaders. Most forget that none is anywhere close to Pa Awo in upholding SW interest. Suddenly the North see SW regrouping in the interest of SW. They do not like it one bit. They can see suppression of yearning for regionalism slipping away. SW is currently the glue holding Nigeria together. This angers IPOB and other separatist groups for example. Lose SW and 9ja crumbles. Even IPOB supports Amotekun. That says a lot. SW would be a far better place as Oduduwa Republic. No contest. Trade with Biafra, Niger Delta and even the North would flow seamlessly. The North have good reasons to fear. But they forget that long term preservation of Nigerian unity depends on regionalism and more autonomy. Not forced marriage. |
I see nothing wrong with the greeting. An elder doesn't have to be a saint to be respected or greeted according to tradition. We greet and respect a lot of very " somehow" elders daily. It's courtesy and good upbringing. |
Correct people. Looking great. HML. |
Otunba2004:It begs the question why SW has been so obedient to the North for so long. I have maintained that if Western Region had gone it alone in 1967, Oduduwa Republic would at least be like Malaysia or Hungary by now. Sadly I am not optimistic about Amotekun. The likes of Tinubu, Osinbajo and Bisi Akande will persuade the governors to drop Amotekun. Or scale it down so much that it will just be like neighbourhood watch. They will tell SW governors that it is for the greater good of Yoruba land long term. But it will actually be not to spook the North and allow personal presidential ambition remain on course. If Yoruba persist on Amotekun, SS, SE and Middle Belt should begin same regional outfit. And that is what scares the North. It will also finally show that Maj. Gen. Buhari, a man who touted his military background as evidence of ability to provide national security has failed woefully to provide one. |
9ja and religiosity. ![]() After all the yarn we will go and buy Chinese made Infinix and atheist made IPhone. Common phone we still cannot make. I wonder when Africans are gonna wake up. Better to go use our brain to innovate. Religiosity won't eradicate poverty. |
oyatz:Regional police is even better. Amotekun should eventually morph into regional police. With other zones following suite. They should create RUGA for herdsmen in the North. Unless of course herdsmen and RUGA are schemes to encircle the South with armed Fulani to seize land across Nigeria. |
Tobinrobin:Actually this is common. Anyone abroad who has not experienced such to an extent is extremely lucky. Your parents are the only people who want you to GENUINELY achieve more in life than them. Everyone else is suspect until further notice. If 100 people abroad abroad had issues with justice system and went to jail, around 60% would have their assets squandered similarly. Bad relatives would do juju to tie him in prison, kill him in prison or otherwise block his return to 9ja. That lady might have spent up to 20% of the money on babalawo and pastors to tie the guy in prison. |
Olugbanko:You need to understand that in the ethnoreligious politics of Nigeria, an SS president was never gonna have it easy. To begin with he was meant to ever become president but providence trumped human machinations. You think Buhari is surrounded by better people than GEJ was? Far from it. Jonathan was constantly tribalistically abused as kaakai drinker from the creek. When he sought to remove subsidy who led protest against him? Falana and SW. What could he do in a population and tribal polity that we have? Rely on 10 million Ijaw and SS and SE who voters cards were withheld or even dumped in Ikorodu bushes? Let's be honest o. |
GermanMelania:Or maybe if the lady has several kids or no kids at all his mission would have gone successfully and remain hale and hearty? The headline dey funny. Life expectancy in Nigeria is less than 55. Probably any similar exertion would have killed him. Lots of men over 50 are already very unhealthy. How many at that age go for medical check up every 6 months? RIP. |
Omooba77:Abeg first show Lala a snake called Sussex. That will ginger his swagger. ![]() |
Olugbanko:Prophecy in the 21st century? In Christianity man has long lost all that power of prophecy long ago. Babalawo, dibia, marabout, sangoma and so on are better options for souls desperate for prophecy. It's no secret that pastors regularly seek traditionalists to "wash their eyes" for vision. I saw that back in the 1980s as a kid. They went to visit babalawos under cover of darkness in the village. One even became one of the first African global pastors. I do NOT believe in prophecy of any kind. I strongly maintain that NO true Christian should dabble into our very dirty and corrupt politics. Never mind a catholic priest purporting to predict political outcomes. If anything, I have close relatives in good positions in APC. I have none in PDP or APGA. If I wanted to be partial, I should be in favour of APC. I began political arguments here believing critics of GEJ here on NL. Until I realised that the lies against him were too much. They didn't tally with reality on ground. I became an objective supporter of GEJ during fuel subsidy protests. In particular SW & Northern people said there was no subsidy whatsoever. That GEJ just "ate" all the money. When it was clear that subsidy has been paid for decades. And most of the subsidy scammers were businessmen from SW & the North that dominate fuel business. |

Tranquillity360:Amotekun is in SW. No FG can ban it once state assemblies in SW have approved it. The South does not oppose RUGA in the North. Just like ike they have Sharia and Hisbah there. We have a federal system. We are not interested in RUGA or Sharia so keep them in the North where you need them. If the North are not the ones deliberately causing insecurity in the West why should Amotekun trouble them? |
Manolo213:African Star apple dude. Cherry is incorrectly used. |
Hmmmmn |
Olugbanko:Dude, politics is inherently corrupt and partisan. Corruption is not just about embezzlement. It comes in many shape. Jesus is the example priests should emulate. He warned those politicians and political religious leaders about their erring ways and oppression of the masses. Jesus wasn't there predicting who will be next political leader. Or take sides with politicians like Mbaka preached or campaigned for Buhari. Or Mbaka now has more authority or vision than Jesus? Mbaka can become a daddy GO and be free like other pentecostal pastors to go into politics or become partisan. Not as a catholic priest. At this rate younger pastors of the Holy Sea might follow his footstep working for PDP, APGA, Labour Party, etc. |
RedBlackPepper:So that that a Yoruba president can preside over many Yoruba people killed, maimed and raped by killer herdsmen? I'm sure Pa Awo if he were alive would say to hell with presidency. He made Yorubaland the most developed part of Africa. He was a Pan-Yoruba man who long understood that Nigeria is a mere geographical expression and a tool for Fulani expansion. |
Civil servants enable govt to deliver its no programmes to the people. These would normally be career minded employees according to the civil service Act, state or Federal. Teachers employed by ministry of education are civil servants for example. Public servants can be elected or appointed. Buhari, his ministers and their exco are public servants. But civil servants can be seconded into public service. Say from ministry of finance to FIRS. Otten it can all be fluid and blurred especially in 9ja where we don't strictly follow the rules. |
Olugbanko:Priests should generally avoid politics. That's the Catholic way. Unless fighting for the poor. |
Horrible. RIP. |
Hillsong34:So in your super-human intelligent mind, you think Fulani herdsmen killing, maiming, raping women and kids, and destroying farms, kidnapping people like Chief Olu Falae can be compared to Southerners running hotels, spare parts shops, supermarkets and other businesses in the North? How many Southerners carry AK47 about in the North? How many Northern villagers are they killing and villages razing to the ground? If FG police can control killer/rapist herdsmen, would SW need Ametokun? Why is the North so scared of Regionalism? Fear of losing control oil money. In 45 years of ruling Nigeria, Northerners cannot even educate their population or control birth rate that produces so many poor people vulnerable to terrorist recruitment. Is Hisbah not an ethno-religious security outfit? |
OK. One of those "famous" IMSU" babes. |
