spectator2001:And IBB, OBJ and Abacha "developed" Nigeria Silly, right? For once a true owner of the oil money looted from it. ![]() And it serious pains parasites a lot. In the 50 years of Nigeria before Diezani, leaders and oil ministers from the North & SW had ample opportunity to take Nigeria to a highly developed economy. They did not. Nigeria wrecked long ago. So stop the cry baby double standard. The corpse is what we have now. People should be ready to create new countries out of it: Arewa, Biafra, Oodua, ND, Middle Belt or other configurations. |
Integrityfarms:This your statement is not clear. Unfortunate "NOT" to have you mean?? Well those days colonial and local politics played a big role in establishing schools. Northern emirs were not very keen on the masses having Western education. In fact they opposed it. You see that Katsina-Ala in Benue got one and none in the important Sultanate City of Sokoto. In Benin City, the people were very keen on having schools by 1900. E.g people in the Dukedom of Oghada near Benin went to the colonial officers to volunteer to use own money (from booming rubber for bicycle and nascent automobile tyre trade) to build/fund a school to educate "100 boys" from their community. But Colonial officers refused. Instead they wanted to handpick children of some local elites who collaborated with colonial officers and a few others to send to other parts of Nigeria (Calabar mostly) to educate. They did not want many Benin people educated. They feared educating them would create a vocal elite that could team up with Lagos & Sierra Leone educated people to oppose colonial government. That was clearly written in colonial officers memo to imperial govt London. With Oba Ovonramwen deported to Calabar & anger among Benin people, it was clear why colonial officers felt that way. No doubt some other communities in Nigeria would have been equally disadvantaged similarly. Politics has played a big part in these things right from time. |

slawomir:This your anatomy & physiology sha. ![]() |
THEconqueror:Common sense nor common na. They can even do it that 10 years passports should be compulsorily 64 pages, considering we need visas for many countries. To prevent frequent need for passports before 10 years expiry. People will even happily pay 25k to get it in a week or thereabout. They see passport as a money-making venture, not delivery service to citizens in the least stressful way. |

Very nice. Kudos. |
Ogbuefi2020:No mind that guy. He does not know the history between Buhari and Dikko. Dikko was very Street smart and warned Shagari about Buhari and his coup. Dikko had current information from the military always. Shagari did nothing much. He only got Shagari to shunt him to Jos as GOC. Away from the critical Ibadan and Lagos commands at that time. Dikko was very close to terminating Buhari's military career. Anybody less gentle than Shagari would have retired Buhari and a few others by latest 1981. Based on Dikko's worries about Buhari. Buhari was determined to deal with Dikko once in power. Corruption allegation against Dikko was an excuse. Sure there was corruption but not up to what has happened since 1999 till now. Dikko had expected Buhari's coup for years and had perfected plans to escape well in advance. No wonder he was able to slip out to London easily. If not for sending Buhari to faraway Jos, Shagari would not have lasted even 2 years in power. Most NLers are kiddies. They are told stories and they believe them. |
Religion is politics. All have a very shady past. The African only fools himself thinking he belongs. |
stuffs4me:Go to where merit matters. Where your skills will be needed. I have people who returned to 9ja with aeronautic engineering degrees in the 1980s, no job. The the returned abroad sharply. |
Jamesmatic:Amen. Yet some will be spewing rubbish that only witchcraft news comes from Edo state. A few years back, the youngest ever qualified medical doctor in South Africa, clearing almost all the graduation prizes along the way, is from Edo State. |
Iykmann:My aunt was a policewoman. Honestly prettier & taller than this babe here in her youth. She remains a very level headed woman/wife in retirement. If you can compare modern policewomen with those who joined over 50 years ago, I cannot say. |
Nigeriadondie:QED @ bolded. You said it all. But that is the situation in tough times. People turn on each other. While the elites keep looting. |
Nigeriadondie:No, difference of opinion should not result in insults. Normally anyway. I cannot claim to know all about Buhari. But I know a little bit. Most I cannot repeat here of course. What struck me was that he was very handsome army officer. Even more handsome than we saw on TV. He was so smart that I wanted to be a military officer. ![]() But his coup scuppered our nascent democracy in 1983. We know what followed. Shagari's govt was not more corrupt than we have had from 1999 till now. So excuse for overthrow makes little sense now. Most people do not know the role Buhari played in making OBJ deny Pa Awo the presidency in 1979. By election of 1979, the rules were clear. If no party had a clear majority in the presidential election, NASS should choose the next president. Awo had secured a majority of votes already. But OBJ was forced to bring a retroactive decree after election to make it just who has more votes in the election. OBJ knew why he did it. Had OBJ handed over to Awo, the coup would have happened within months. till Shagari in power, Buhari coup was the most open secret back then. Now about PTDF, yes he did some good things. But try to see the cost & waste of fund that occurred there. Granting total power to award contract & cost to his relative. But most important is principle. Why would a former HoS serve under a brutal regime like Abacha's? The regime that caused the death of MKO (technically), Kudirat, imprisoned OBJ & Yar'Adua. There other things not meant for a public forum. |
Nigeriadondie:Pele. Like most people you never really knew Buhari. Those of us a bit older and had people in journalism who knew most details about him from the 1970s were shouted down here by kiddies as Tanoids. When we talk people think we are making things up like them. So best was to siddon look. Unlike most people I actually met Buhari briefly when around 60% of Nairalanders were not even born yet. He was head of state then. I was very young but I remember it vividly. I have old posts on it here on NL. |
@OP, The girl has already moved on. You're the one sticking around. The involvement of pastor & both families has prevented her from officially breaking up. She has "tasted" other men: their sweet talk, attention & maybe more. Maybe you're even doing dating without sex. If so, she's getting it elsewhere. She will regret her current behaviour but that will not be your business. Your case is complex because you needed "consent from pastor & family" to date. I reckon you will also need their consent to stop dating her. So begin with those involved like your mum. Sure she will tell you the girl is very decent from a good home and all that. Like all mums. ![]() Make up your mind. Move on or accept her "flirty warts & all". Until she tells you to shoo off verbally like an olodo. ![]() |
Oga Dutchmann247, come and substantiate your claims o. How does 36 hours of light per 12kg gas cylinder turn into 9 hours per day per month? |
crisisexpert321:This is the truth people refuse to accept. A guy with enough time and money gets many girls if he wants. A girl with plenty of time, little money & at least averagely pretty if she wants can get many guys, even if just to make ends meet. Guys that are contented with that one babe are few. Guys that can meet the majority of the needs of a girl are VERY few. So the stage is set for cheating to flourish in 9ja environment. It is simply a market place nowadays. |
Nor do nor do, human skulls & body parts have become normal ritual ingredients. In a highly religious country with churches & mosques than pharmacies. The world around is really nasty now. |
A slay queen corper who cannot help kids like this pretty girl here, is that a slay queen? ![]() Kudos? |
Gaddafithe2nd:Nigerians nor sabi scam sef. They scam and use oil rub mouth & whole body. Other nationalities are far better refined scammers. Including many fellow Africans. Nigerians only do gra-gra and get caught easily. Scammers who get caught in high numbers, that na scammers? |
ellapius:My dear, have you ever quoted a Nigerian suspect with "sweetheart" before? Nothing sweet about any fraud suspect of any colour or nationality. If Nigerian money is good enough to allegedly scam, then the prison should be good enough for him. ![]() Would American justice system allow "just confess & return money" and go free? If admitted in good time, it might slightly reduce the sentence. Nothing more. Funny enough this will not appear on BBC or CNN. Even NTA will not show it. |
romme2u:I should have ignored the rat. But doing so would be seen as weakness. I changed my tactics a few weeks ago. It seems a big part of our youth only understand gutter language & methods. One should move with the times. Their parents failed woefully raising them. I quoted somebody else on a topic because that person made a bigoted statement about Benin over something done by an Edo person. I quoted that poster that because certain SW people or SE people do certain things at times is no reason to generalise. And the fool quoted me with insult right away. For me it has gone very personal. Beyond point of no return. Because that product of cursed generations didn't see his error. We can all have two sides. Nice & not so nice. Even the devil was once an angel. A slave descendant wants to threaten me & brag about his degrees and his thuggery. In Benin again? Can you imagine? No way. |
Na lie. This pic is years old. Haba! Except this pic is just for illustration. |
OK |
EternalTruth:This boy do not let me face you. I am warning you. Stay off my mention. I am not a peanuts slave like you. Because I can by God's grace make your entire family of old and young fools my domestic staff. If you are tired of life, go jump in front of a luxury bus bus coming from the east. I have warned you. The entire Nairaland is my witness. In your entire life, you will never achieve what I already achieved by the age of 24 many years ago. Including your MSc from a school not ranked among the world's top 20,000 universities. ![]() Bitter people never get very far in life. That your slave labour barely gives you time to scratch your back is your bad head. Others have a far better life with more freedom and means. ; You just managed to charge your Nokia 3310 to come online, bah? Pele. ![]() |
The way Nigerians of all religions take it so seriously, if they took good governance and being a good citizen one-quarter as serious, 9ja would be a far better place. Meanwhile the religious teaching does not manifest in their daily lives. But surely looks good to be seen to be outwardly religious in a hypocritical society. People in Mecca & Jerusalem enjoy our money more than the average 9ja person. |
Very sad. |
Very nice. |
decatalyst:Maybe purpose built home cinema or a massive mansion lounge. |
The fact is simple. The economic climate is harsh now. Women & kids suffer the most. Lots of guys have no jobs. Or poorly paid, therefore boyfriends are not lucrative enough for some women. Lots of women have to swallow their pride & do it under the cover of darkness. Some appear like slay queens by day. Actually Olosho by night. These are people's gfs, mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, daughters-in-law, friends selling themselves for so cheap. Also risking diseases & being killed by psychopaths, ritualists, etc. And it can be any girl you see out there, religious, pretty, average, non-religious, students, apprentices, etc. That is the state of Nigeria now. Very sad. |

It was before I use to weep for Nigeria but now I ve ran out of tears to weep for a country not worth shedding tears for or at worse dying for. Buhari as a man I ve always respected and anticipated so much from him. I had my quenched flame of hope for Nigeria rekindled when he assumed office but it is becoming obvious that Nigeria is dead, hopeless, doomed, futureless and nothing good wud ever come its way.
