2dugged:They won't because their kids are largely well-looked after. And a large number up North partake in child marriage. |
Gerrard59:Very true sir. Well, in 9ja, psychotic disorders are rated high. Especially schizophrenia. Post-partum psychosis too. Then anxiety disoders, personality disorder, post-partum depression & sleep disorders too. But I do not know how accurate these are. If you ask me, I think affective disorders like depression would rank very high. And substance abuse is way under-estimated as well. With all the hemp smokers, all the drunkards you see around you, pain killer & sleeping pill takers, etc. Sorry dude, I do not know what SSA is except senior special assistant quango in Nigerian politics. ![]() Well, Northern Europe has a very high rate of Alzeheimer's Dementia (AD) as you mentioned compared to Japan. Genetics (ApoE gene, especially Apoe E4), is well known as indicating increased risk. Diet is suspected as a major reason too. The lighter, healthier Japanese diet is considered to reduce risk. For example Japanese who migrate to live in USA have a higher rate of AD than Japanese who stay in Japan. Nigerians who migrate to live in USA also have their AD risk doubled. By the way Nigerians in Nigeria have a slightly lower AD rate than Japanese in Japan. But this may not be the true picture since Japanese live over 25 years longer than Nigerians generally. Neuroscience PhD is very good. Especially as the world's population gets older, neuro disorders prevalent in old age have to be understood better. Neuropharmacology is another interesting area. With advent tailor-made drugs, etc. Research into Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) is a major part of neurophysiology research. Drug companies are very hot on targeting drugs that can safely penetrate BBB and deliver a required dose into the nervous system. Just imagine what further improvement that can make to stroke treatment & better psychiatric, parkinson's & AD management. Not to mention the very important knowledge (almost holy grail stuff) still lacking in neuroplasticity. |
If people cannot treat high blood pressure because of rocketing prices, then more stroke, heart attack, heart failure & deaths should be expected. To think that many of these people voted for change. But as usual, Zombies be like: Blame the clueless drunken fisherman. Their recorded playback song never fails. ![]() Sadly, their sober kunu sipping hero is dispensing joblessness, hunger & death. Give me a merry drunken man that brings prosperity, hope & optimism anytime. |
While blaming GEJ, IBB who single-handedly took over $12billion dollars in Gulf War oil windfall is chilling in Minna mansion. That was in the early 1990s. Imagine the worth of that money today. If you have any proof of corruption against anyone, arrest them already & bring them to court for a fair trial. You cannot sing same song for going to two years while you have nothing to your name. This media trial is becoming too pathetic. Even as much as Buhari likes prison yard, he has still not erected or renovated a single prison from 1983 till today. If indeed he expected people convicted, he would at least have built or renovated some prisons. Not even Benin prison that he once called home. ![]() |
Mznaett:No. To make him your slave/breadwinner for life. That is what it is in most cases. Since most ladies keep their income to themselves but the hubby's income is "our money". However, all that parole will only nudge him if he's ready. |
yomibelle:How To keep Foreign Companies Operating In Your Country: By President M. Buhari. ![]() |
MONITZ:Learn ke? Nigerians never learn. We have political memories that last nanoseconds. If not how could they forget 1983 to 1984? But then with a life expectancy of just 53 years, a great deal of those people who witnessed 1983 are not alive anymore. So when we were warning Nigerians before last election to expect economic woes, the indomie generation that are mostly here that only learn things on google shouted us down. They got mobile phone, facebook & wider internet access in the last 16 years that PDP was in power, entertainment sector (artists, Nollywood, comedians) grew, economy grew & private universities for the pampered flourished so that they have no idea how things were previously under the dictators. Let the indomie generation have a taste of it. Experience is the best teacher. ![]() |
Askmewhy:My point is simple. The Bible is not literally what it seems in many ways. It might not please Zombie Christians to hear but that is how it is. In the same way there wasn't any good Samaritan that helped & a wicked Jewish religious priest that left a beaten the robbery victim to his fate. It was used to illustrate common behaviours in our daily life. Not literally. Many things are just illustrations that require us to decode with our God-given common sense. Or how do you explain the remains of skeletons dated as millions of years old if the world is under 7000 years old? That the scientists are not accurate? |
richidinho:Hahahaha! When people like me were talking before last election, we were shouted down. Believe me, it is much easier to curb corruption during an economic boom than during a recession with high inflation. When economy booms, wages gradually go up, people get more content with their business and income as their purchasing power grows. A civil servant with decent wages has more to lose if stringent anti-corruption regime is seriously introduced and policed. So they will be careful. I cannot see how the current hardship will discourage corruption. |
richidinho:Well everything has a price. If hunger, poverty and destitution is what people want in order to reduce corruption perception, then let them have it. Maybe next time they will their choice more carefully. Because corruption is a major economic sector in 9ja. See banks and many companies folding up. Plus bad economic policies. ![]() |

bokohalal:Lol |
GenBuhari:Well, why do we have to wait for WHO? Why can't rich Africans spend on research to make a malaria vaccine? After all we are the most affected by it. Why should we expect WHO controlled by the West to put us first? In this world, you are OYO. The prof just said that in a diplomatic way. That is no secret. |
Nice but God asks us to cater for the poor among us. Social stuff are badly needed. We are not short of religious edifices. |
Location & pics of interior/engine. |
GenBuhari:I once asked a reputable professor/researcher this question. He said generally, tropical diseases are regarded as "poor people's diseases" and therefore funding is scarce. I was wondering why he had spent a lifetime researching a genetic illness that affects a middle-east origin white ethnicity that numbers under 15 million in total, about 0.2% of world's population. He made it clear that despite that low population figures, about 40% of US billionaires belong to that ethnic group. So securing research funding is much easier. It is about the wealth & influence of those affected by certain diseases. |
edudguy:I do not assume. That is a general trend. Go back to the economic recession of the 1930s in Europe/America and compare it to the economic boom period post WWW2. Also look at Japan in the 1990s, despite their generally relatively high suicide rate, it went up even more in the 1990s. See how the man looks like, does he look like someone who was living a good life? I did not read about his SUV parked nearby or his thriving business. Quote me anytime: it can only be about failing business, lost business in the bad economy, wife has deserted him because of no money or some other sad story of economic hardship including illness of self or relative that he cannot treat. I'm ready to wager 50K Naira on it. Are you? |
RIP. In times of economic hardship, suicide rate increases. |
domnwan:Ok. So dude in Mbaise, there is no poor man at all? What is average income among Mbaise people compared to other parts of Nigeria? Please enlighten us. Because I know many people begin life/married relatively poor & end up rich or much better off together. |
egokudiowomoney:Dude that money might look big but it depends on (1) The living standard they have become used to (2) responsibility towards extended family (3) debt owed like car loan, mortgage, etc (4) if married & spouse working or not (5) savings from salaries. Some bankers will spend around 500K or more on extended family this coming Xmas and others pay school fees for kids, siblings, cousins, nephews, nieces etc,. I know many like that. Not many employees have good business skills. Most are just used to working & collecting salaries. Unless they find another job soon or already have a side business, many will soon exhaust that 5 to 10m. I have seen that in the past too. |
Very shameful. The elite treat fellow Nigerians with contempt, so they won't see anything wrong with it. Even a woman brought from poverty and cleaned up by her rich hubby can pour a house maid hot water. Maim & disfigure her seriously and nothing happens. |
michoim:My take is simply that we have too many states. All over the country. Those not owing huge amounts today can owe tomorrow. I still see no proper wisdom in splitting old Ondo, Cross River, Bendel, Kano, Kwara, Oyo and others. We just created more bureaucracy & expenses/civil service/recurrent expenditure. Nigeria cannot afford that. Now imagine how much various states are spending on building airports that mostly only the elite will use. Or fancy stadiums. That money ought to be spent on primary healthcare/health promotion, roads, education, rural electrification, water supply, promoting local entrepreneurship/artisans, promoting local agriculture and other social intervention projects that impact directly on grassroots. |
ephi123:Rule of law & freedom of expression walked away with Jonathan on May 29th 2015. So make no mistake about that. |
Op you are a regular Nairalander and you created this moniker to post this personal stuff. Is alright. Your hubby is getting irritated by other things you do or refuse to do. Check if there are things he has complained about that you have kept doing. Or things he thinks you should know he hates but you keep doing still. If he's a perfectionist, it might just be things you consider minor or irrelevant but very important to him. If he was not so before marriage, maybe he thought you would change once married. NOT saying his behaviour is acceptable or that it is only your fault. Just talking from my previous observations. If your love for him is already reducing, I can imagine that his shouting you down even in public cannot possibly indicate his increasing love for you. You both might be on a slippery slope if you both do not sit down and address this matter or other hidden matters fast. |
Taryur3:Nor mind am. In nearly 6 years they were fine, why could GEJ not manage another 2 years successfully? We voted out an experienced/successful cabinet and handed the economy to apprentices to use to practice. At a time capable hands were needed in a world facing economic uncertainty. Why do you think employers ask for 5 to 15 years experience when recruiting? It is so that you can hit the ground running. Imagine Kemi as finance minister to reward Amosun. All that irked Tinubu and he has been smarting from the humiliation since, ready to tear the party apart at the right time. It was all about power, influence, greed & access to Nigeria's wealth, not love for Nigeria that made them to gang up against GEJ. |
chrisxxx:They voted him out precisely for building schools and universities. Northern elite and religious zealots do not want their masses to be educated or enlightened. Western education should be for the elite and their kids. Though GEJ had very good intentions but he did not understand their mindset. |
Zombies are allergic to analysis & anything called fact. Instead of them to counter an analysis with their own facts, point by point, they will go into agbero mode: swearing, cursing, shouting, expressing their innate/primordial tribalistic hate and bigotry & claiming they do not care. |
Solomon made such awful lot of wealth because God gave him special wisdom beyond any human. He used that wisdom to do business/trade, impress/control people who brought him unimaginable gifts/tributes, to impose tax and manage all that wealth & King David's inheritance wisely. Does madam Alakija have that specially wisdom bestowed by God? She has not prayed to God to grant her Solomon's wisdom first. But she wants the wealth. Clearly if God had asked her what she desired most, she'd most likely not have chosen wisdom & understanding like Solomon did. When people start using their mouth to compete with the Blessed Saints, you wonder where they are heading. |
ogunsj:I do not have any personal connection with Edo Central. But he's the governor of the whole Edo State. In political appointment, the best way to tell people who did not vote for you that you mean well is to magnanimous to them. He has to be bigger than those petty things in order to bring unity. |
OP should mind his business. That is the reality of life. You may think you're doing good but you can incur enmity of two people easily if you meddle. People can be dangerous at times. The equation might even be balanced. Who knows if the wife is collecting her share over there too? We have seen many such before. |
UnknownT:Osho has a thing for ..Ara ladies. Hope Iara stays and he doesn't fall into the hands of Ndi-Ara. |
