seguno2:I know English is not our mother tongue, and you clearly have difficulty expressing yourself correctly. My dad in his 80s is able-bodied but elderly. Many elderly people where I live do cycling, bodybuilding, bungee jumping and all kinds of physically demanding stuff. They are able-bodied. I have also encouraged some distant relatives post-education into learning a trade and farming. Even from diaspora, I do both livestock & plantain farming. I know many others who do same. People in diaspora, whether as medics, cleaners, ICT engineers, supermarket checkout staff (even the nearly non-existent dead body washers as home based like to say derogatorily) all work hard and certainly not willing to squander it on lazy buggers. Most do it out of necessity. Don't assume any authority over who they should help. Some people abroad are even conned out of money by some feigning illness or emergency in 9ja. We all know the situation. |
seguno2:Well, I do not know if you want people to ignore elderly parents or grandparents without pension or irregular pension payment. Let them die of hunger or illness just to protest against the government. Or even to let young relatives turn to street urchins, runs girls/prostitutes by refusing to pay for their education or training. Just to send a message of protest to Federal, State or Local government. ![]() Hahahahaha. Chai! This your own logic nor be here o. ![]() |
seguno2:The millions without jobs in 9ja nko, have you given them jobs yet? The man found his way there, works hard and probably looks after many people financially back home, like most diaspora people. A man who has no plans cannot buckle up, work hard and be employee of the month. First go to Indian, Chinese & Lebanese companies in Lagos, that abuse workers for a pay of 15k a month. Fight slavery at home first. |
Kikikikikikiki. ![]() My only surprise is that people are surprised by this. So you have all forgotten what we said during campaign 2015? So when we said Buhari has very ancient ideas and ways of doing things, you people really believed we were tanoids?? Why should even any half-educated adult Nigerian be surprised by this? Let alone graduates and people who can read Nigerian history? |
9iceboi: ![]() Abeg stop cracking pesin ribs. Those MoGs be another. The girl is very on point. Na im some over-makeup girls without certificate go dey shakara find already made guys upandan. I wish her every success. |
So people still take APC goons serious? Those with power but do not know what to do with it? GEJ has been giving them heart attack since May 5th 2010. They know they will never have the blessing of GEJ. Humans can accuse and scheme but they can never play God. Make una leave them. GEJ was a man who never schemed or kill or fight needlessly for power. He also never spilt blood to retain power. God will be the judge. |
Cadamlk:No mind them. When we argued here and explained why it was good, we were called tanoids and nearly eaten alive. ACN and their bigots hungry for power promised to paralyse the land, protests everywhere. Knowing he has no power without support of those who say they won the war and own Nigeria, GEJ had to soft pedal. He was called clueless. Now we know the bigots remain the clueless. ![]() |
masseratti:It began locally. Rather small. The killing of Yusuf was a turning point. Something people conveniently like to forget now. Because GEJ was not to blame for it. It also began in OBJ's time. If nipping it in the bud was possible, it was while still small then. Not after growing, highly energised and radicalised by Yusuf killing and had already attracted both local and international sponsors with same purpose of defeating the regime of a Christian in 9ja. But hey, accepting that would not condemn GEJ, so better to have selective amnesia about those. The religious mix and tolerance of SW 9ja make a lot of SW people unable to accept that such tolerance to Christian ruling is not at all common to the Arab world or even Northern 9ja. Except installed by Northerners to take back soon again Like OBJ. We can twist facts and politicise everything, but it won't help us. As we can see with the bad economy now. They said economy was bad, and they'll fix it. Now they keep blaming GEJ like a bad workman blames his tools. Posterity will be a better judge. |
masseratti:We have always had mediocre leaders. You need to measure GEJ's time against OBJ's and Shagari 's regime. Buhari has under 3 years to come to equity too. Only then can you judge : economy/inflation, infrastructure, security, rule of law, democratic credentials. Etc. To judge arbitrarily is very unscientific. |
masseratti:Nobody wants to hear what you are saying now. Truth is bitter. Boko seemed to have two short /medium term target a few years back. (1) Wrestle power in 9ja from the South. (2) Focus on killing Southerners after power is returned to the North. First has been achieved by killings in the North to make GEJ unpopular there. So that even railway, universities, Almajiri schools built there and other development will be overlooked. Then thousands of Boko boys melted into herdsmen across the South to carry out mayhem. |

Whether he blasted Buhari or not irrelevant. I know he told us God wanted Bubu to win and bless Nigeria. Does he mean the blessing or better govt he prophesied is this darkness, joblessness, hunger and worse?? |
Category1:You can't go wrong with titillating Kenya news, can you? ![]() Very odd that so many weird stuff are happening in the most outwardly religious societies. I guess this over-religiosity is linked to desperation, fear, poverty & failure of govt/society. If they were more economically secure and better off, many would have no need to go to church or seek miracle. Like you have in the West. Therefore, despite all this religiosity, the stubborn socio-economic problems still stare us in our faces. And boil over all too often. |
hollas2jnr:Common proper police branded raincoat nko? We live in an area called tropical rainforest in Ibadan. And yet nobody thought about keeping police people working outside dry in July. Na wa o. That's why some lazybone among them will just go and hide in one buka. ![]() |
Symphony1:Nothing new. Bullingdon Club members at Oxford University do worse. David Cameron & Boris Johnson were members. Former UK prime minister & current UK Foreign Minister respectively. Just fun. |
seXytOhbAd:Actually, when I said here he should go to jail, I never thought it would happen sef. In years gone by, it would have been called a private dispute between a man & his employee. Or even family matter. The lady would have be under pressure to say she's not pressing charges & that would be the end of it. The lady would even lose her dancing career. This is already an improvement. But them clapping for him like he just returned from Kora or Grammy award win though. ![]() |
Dreamwaker:Govt needs to do more to inform people about crimes & vices & the stiff punishment abroad. Be it drugs, Scam/fraud/419, prostitution, etc. Some people innocently get trapped or forced into it. But of course some go into it on purpose. If at least most innocent ones can be helped to avoid the trap, it would have been a huge success. However, govt campaign might fall on deaf ears if the economy remains bleak at home. |
I hope some people will not turn cannibal at this rate o. People are just eating everything. Na wa o. |
biggie73:Well, honorary titles are supposed to be for those who have already "sweat it out" successfully in other aspects of life and made enormous contributions to society. Congrats ought to be in order. Though it is becoming all-comers in developing nations. ![]() Honourees are also not supposed to use the "Dr" prefix. It should be DLitt (hc), DSc (hc), PhD (hc). etc as a suffix. honoris causa (hc) = for the sake of honour. |
ikbnice:I think the matter is that celebs are made by public attention. Have you ever seen a celeb that has no fans or court good publicity? Our people say na "wetin dey sweet person na im dey kill am". You cannot be broadcasting your virginity (something only your hubby should discover on wedding night) everywhere and expect no response, good or bad. Granted, some people overdo amebo, but if fans voted her to be "best dressed actress", "most beautiful actress" and all those other vanities, you can be sure she will lap it up. You have to take the good with the bad. ![]() |
Pity that Ibadan has to be hyped here. It shows the sorry state of 9ja. Considering where Ibadan was in the 1950s, we should be comparing it with Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, etc But same can be said of Enugu, Benin, Kaduna, Kano, etc. We nor try at all. ![]() |
This is very good for democracy. More choices and options. We need more of this. More hats in the ring. No one party system. No party can take things for granted. |
callmelanner:You bet. Never read anything Horrible Potato. ![]() If someone from Benin City wrote anything similar, our sanctimonious holier-than-pope prayer warriors would accuse him of glamorising their witchcraft. As some of our black people hate anything black but worship anything white, they will sure like it. ![]() |
JossyOloye:But when was it ever about progress?? It was about propaganda and power grab. Change has become a toxic word and they know it. If your car was moving in reverse and you get ever further away from your destination, you will sooner or later realise it. No matter how anyone tries to fool you. When "progress" gets toxic, what next? "Supersonic speed"? ![]() I hope it's all a joke. |
Harwoyeez:Yep. He has a good point. But How many share his idealism and notion of meritocracy? Are there not millions from all over Nigeria better qualified than leaders from Balewa to Buhari? Did they get there on merit? Zik was a bigger dreamer, idealist and patriot than Okorocha can ever hope to be in 100 lifetimes, but we all know how it all ended with Zik. His was a lone voice in the wilderness. |
Kgdavid:Hahahaha! You are trying to force patriotism. No you cannot. For most, 9ja is a nightmare they hope to wake up from one day. Like Soviet Union. |
People sha. So he entered secondary school while still in the womb. Since all documents are still valid. |
Benjom:hmmmm |
If you like carry Atlantic ocean give him. What stops him getting a tighter stuff outside? Wetin concern him. It's already a borehole anyway. Makes no difference. Let the hypocrisy continue. The next level will be explosion of baby mamas and wombs for hire. |
2eggs1goal:Do you even know how the coup happened? I will ask you to read Alhaji Shehu Shagari's biography. At least he's Fulani whose leaders were killed. You would not expect him to exonerate Ironsi if indeed he was involved in the coup. Please read it. Because Shagari was in Balewa's cabinet. And he was there the moment members of the cabinet signed over the govt to Ironsi to maintain security in the land. It was done on a piece of paper. If Iron had planned to overthrow, he would have prepared a typed handover document for the surviving cabinet members to sign but he did not. History is there to read. Ironsi's error was to believe that centralising power and giving Northerners key roles in govt would placate them AND not quickly trying/jailing/court-marshalling the coup plotters. That was it. Read also Lt-Gen. Jeremiah Useni's interview on how they killed Ironsi. He never ever accused Ironsi of any coup. There were rumours that Northern emirs due to meet Ironsi in Ibadan (according to Useni) in that July meeting were to be massed murdered. Something very unfeasible in Nigeria. But the killing of Bello & Balewa made it look believable. But the emirs were not politicians & we all know how traditional rulers are revered throughout the country. So why massacre them? But paranoia was now everywhere. If Ironsi meant to mass murder emirs (one of whose sons, Col. Katsina he made governor of N. Region) how would that stabilise Ironsi's govt? And why would he go to a "massacre meeting" with his own son visiting from London? We should not twist history for political reasons. |
