Its only an insane man that will keep supporting Buhari in this frustrating times.
From many comments here, you can see that most young Nigerians have no idea how democracy works. It portends something bad for the future of our democracy.

Parliamentary duties requires working across parties.

Bill Clinton had a torrid time as president because of Republican domination of the senate. He only narrowly avoided impeachment over Monica Lewinsky.

I guess many here were will wearing pampers then.

Obama is also hindered in passing many bills such as gun control due to opposition power in the congress.

OBJ also struggled seriously with NASS. Especially people like Okadigbo & Ghali Umar Na'Abba.

What he doesn't want to admit is that his tin-god is losing it on many fronts: economy, security, electricity etc. Even the so hyped anti-corruption has now been seen even by foreign observers as hypocrisy. A man surrounded & advised by corrupt people, picking up vocal opposition politicians for persecution & fighting common certificate case in courts with dozens of lawyers (who charge billions in legal cost in total) claiming to be a saint.
Politics › Re: History Of Nigeria Police Igs. From Edet To Arase by AreaFada2: 9:02am On Jun 22, 2016
jtjohn:
proud of Solomon Arase ......Proud of Edo state......Proudly Edo Boy........But Edo people too like Abroad.
One major reason is this: many things work in 9ja by tribal affiliation. Edo ranks among states with the best achieving jambites & SSCE. But still admission to schools, promotions in civil etc don't happen on merit.

On leaving school in my time, myself & a few others were due scholarship to foreign universities as it was then. But no, every office we went to follow it up were manned by non-Edo people mostly. After checking that we were in fact entitled, the next thing was they would speak their language to us.
Because some of us have names from across tribes. When they found we were Edo, their attitude changed. I purposely refused to claim another State which I would have been entitled to do.

Our school vice principal (non-Edo) in charge of following up the issue also did her own tribalism then.
Our non-Edo (from the majors tribes, especially North) fellow students with very good but still inferior grades to ours got their scholarships.

With such discrimination, those people killed the enthusiasm of young bright people for Nigeria. Luckily myself and a few others were able to get ourselves to top universities abroad. All on merit.

So we find ourselves today contributing to the growth of foreign countries that gave us opportunities on MERIT.

Since the end of Benin Empire in 1897, Britain made a massive effort to deprive the Benins of Education. Even when rich Benin communities like Oghada volunteered to pay for school building to educate 100 of their sons, the British refused. Even though Benin province was the most lucrative province in Southern 9ja due to rubber trade. They chose to build schools in Agbor & Warri Provinces, areas considered compliant by them.

In their memo, they wrote that educating Benin people would be making the mistake made earlier in Sierra Leone & Lagos. That Benin people angry at the British, if educated, would become a very dangerous voice against colonial rule. Like educated Sierra Leoneans & Lagosians.
How does this relate to the matter at hand? It does because that early deprivation denied Benin people the chance to be leading political elite in the early part of Nigerian independence. Except the few that went outside Edo to study, something not that easy then.

Arase would never have become IG despite his credentials (DIG) without a Southern president. They would have promoted another AIG above him again, like they did before.

This epistle is to tell you that things happen for a reason. People chose to give their future kids a better chance in life based on merit. Abroad rather than rely on Nigeria. Delta State too is similar.

Sure, some these days come over because of sheer economic hardship at home.
Politics › Re: Ben Bruce Reveals “Smartest States” In Nigeria by AreaFada2: 1:06pm On Jun 21, 2016
Unfortunately, in an upside down country like 9ja, being smart is a disadvantage.

It means people from there being labelled "educationally advantaged" states. It means needing much higher grades for Unity Schools, university entrance, being ignored for promotion in federal parastatals in favour of "educationally disadvantaged" states. Affirmative action. shocked shocked

In 2014 WC, Germany nearly got murdered by Ghana in the group stages but the went on to Win it.

France didn't start 1998 WC brilliantly, but they still won it.

loveisblind:
Greetings to all NLs.....i think solution to my problem will come from good people of this forum and such will safe me from doing the wrong thing.

It all started wen i was dating my wife of which my fam did not want her as they want me to marry someone else, though they could not tell me to my face why.....Also my wife families did not want her to marry me base on xtian vs Muslim stuff, but we both insisted....after some years we have kids and later we did our wedding witot any assistance from both families i.e. we shoulder it alone......recently, in the night, while she was in her room, PHCN brought light and i was helping her to charge her fon and i saw a guy's number whom they ve been calling each other almost on daily basis, on a normal ground i dont check her fon and she doesnt check mine....but wen i noticed this number, i went straight to chat with d guy, only for the guy to be responding romantically, i pretended as if its my wife behold....d guy was saying ........If i handle you again......I cant belief myself reading such, i quietly dropped the fon, and went to bed, the next morning I confronted her and she said the guy is her friend that nothing attached.....I did not want to escalate the matter for children's record, i went to work, wen i came back i asked her younger one staying with us if she is aware of the guy, she said yes is just a friend to her elder sister......I called my wife again and she was so bold and bragging that whats the big deal in having male friend.........

I noticed he had called the guy wen i was away to work, i dont know what they discussed anyway. I told her not to cook for me anymore and nothing like sex in between us....for some weeks now it has been like this......Now my pains are these:-

I cant report to my family
I cant report to her family too cos the father never attended our wedding he only sent delegates
I dont want to take laws into my own hand cos i feel like pulling down mountain
We married legally and I feel like filing for divorce cos have told her in the beginning that such act is what i cannot forgive in my life
If i divorce, what about my little kids, who will take kia of them cos I know she doesnt have what it take to ?
before i discovered this she told me if she does such i can never find out and i told her if she try it i will surely know

Am totally fed up with the marriage cos there are lots have been enduring, believing its subject to change but for the past 10years no changes.

Please what do you think?
Well cheating is a big thing. If indeed it happened.

If it did indeed, you're indeed in a quandary.

You did not handle your discovery well. You did not get more information from the other guy. For example you did not get him to elaborate on the last time he "handled" her. It could have been well before your marriage. Maybe they just met again recently on social media.

You could have tried pretending you want to see him again. He might have said something like "same place again, same hotel, same place you came last week, etc". And I guess you don't even have a screenshot of that conversation with the dude using her phone.
As it is you cannot prove anything to anyone.

Really funny that your wife (while still dating) did not rule out cheating when you told her that you abhor such. She only said if she cheats, you will never find out. shocked shocked That should have got your alarm bell ringing, don't you think?

But if you're really so convinced something went down to the point of avoiding sex & food, check yourself for STI and and you may have to consider paternity test. Even if codedly.

Sometimes when our families reject marriage to certain people, one needs to patiently find out why. There are things they may know that we don't. It may be more than just tribal or religious prejudice.

As it is it depends on whether you want to put this behind you and carrying together.

But staying together just for the kids' sake might seem noble but ultimately the kids will suffer from the toxic atmosphere at home.

Should you consider divorce, you still have the responsibility of providing for your children: nutritionally, emotionally, spiritually, etc.
Family › Re: How Much Is Ideal To Be Giving One's Wife As Monthly Stipend? by AreaFada2: 11:36pm On Jun 19, 2016
banjolek:
Hello guys,

I need your honest opinion on this, how much is really ideal to give one's wife as monthly pocket money?.

Here's my story, i recently got married and also moved to a new 3 bedroom apartment around gbagada. I earn a pretty decent income while my wife also works in the bank with a salary of like 150k. She saves a half of this salary and uses the remaining for upkeep.

Now the issue is my wife insists that i must give her monthly pocket money and i have proposed 20k, an amount i feel is more than adequate for her if added to about 75k which she already has to herself from her salary. Also note that this 20k does not mean i dont get to buy her random stuff during the month or provide anything she asks for if i feel its a reasonable demand.

A1so bear in mind that i am still 100% responsible for providing food and other bills in the house. In addition we just moved to a new apartment like i mentioned earlier and still in the process of furnishing it so a chunk of my monthly salary goes into furnishing the house.

We also have a plan to set up a business for her, so i'm also currently saving part of my salary to fulfill that dream.

Now my wife has rejected the proposed amount of 20k saying its too small.

I need your take on this people, considering all i have mentioned above, is 20k really too small to be giving her monthly?

i wrote this in a hurry, please bear with any typo observed.
Your wife is very self-centred.
I cannot stand such.

You have no business giving her more money.
You foot the whole bills plus saving money for business and renting/furnishing.

What upkeep is she doing with 75k a month?

You wonder if some women have any good plans for their hubby.

The woman should be squeezing some money, even if 10k a month to add to savings towards business.

We live in the 21st century. If women want equal treatment, they must shoulder responsibilities too.

An appreciative woman should already recognise all your efforts and good plans for the future.

Privileges come with obligations.

Deserving individual people should be given any accolade as appropriate. Everybody should not really have to pay for the sins of their fathers.
Fact is you do not which family I come from.

FYI, the betrayal was not only personal but affected the whole of Benin Empire, way beyond Benin-speaking parts. And going by what Nigeria became, a betrayal a big part of Southern Nigeria.

This Godwin as late as last year tried to rewrite history, saying her ancestor warned that Benin should accept a condescending & utterly reprehensible treaty with the British. Just last year, still trying to justify the unjustifiable. Such a person cannot be trusted not to betray us for pottage again.

Political neutrality (as much as possible) of the palace over his nonsense last year does not mean forgiveness.

In case you are not aware, there was an uproar among Benin people.

Oshiomhole is taking Edo South who largely ensured his governorship for granted.

Even if Obaseki wins using mago mago, his time in office will be tumultuous. I doubt if that's what Edo needs now.

each time I hear this fallacy I can't help but laugh, 1898 in 2016. Say something more credible
Also 2016 is not 1914 that various parts of Nigeria were yoked together. But our problems like sharing a country with jihadist terrorists materialised but merely postponed in 1914.

The possibility began with Benin invasion in 1897, as Benin empire was the main barrier remaining against it.

Oba Ozolua of Benin had fought off Jihadists 400 years earlier in Edo North. In battles of many years. Reason some people in Edo North bear the name Ozolua today.

Maybe a bit of knowledge of history will help you understand that what we have today have their roots in the past.

All this impunity will backfire spectacularly one day.

And when it does, Nigeria will be a total mess for at least a generation.

Somalia situation will just be a mere picnic.

Our so called leaders just have a narrow window to salvage the situation.

They may not necessarily suffer it because they have enough money stashed abroad to run to.

But they will go down in history as the generation that disintegrated the country.

Congo-Zaire seemed like a nation of happy-go-lucky singing & dancing people a generation ago.

We all know what impunity caused there.

Let me repeat again they are not mentally disturb, yes they are wicked and have sold their soul to the devil, it is their choice. The unborn child which i suspect would be be used for sacrifice, i can not say specifically what nature of favour this children of Satan are seeking from the demon world. But as children of God we should always cover our self with the blood of Jesus, may you and your children never know how wicked a world we live in. For those expecting our deep traditional institutions to speak out, well often their silence is enough for any deep thinking God Fearing Nigerian to worry... No wonder nothing seems to work from electricity, availability of water etc... I pray one day this persistent terrible evil will be a thing of the past in Nigeria. RIP to the victims, what Nigeria owe them is justice and may they get justice in Jesus name. May the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that would not have allowed the death (sacrifice) of Isaac but accepted the sacrifice of the Ram, bring confusion into their camp and reveal them and those that sponsored them in Jesus name i pray.
Well, religious belief is a personal thing. Fact is there are functioning societies where people try to help themselves by understanding what the problems are and how best to tackle them.
