Politics › Re: 13 States To Produce Rice For Consumption+ Devaluation has failed – Buhari by AreaFada2: 9:17am On Jun 28, 2016
Reference:
What devaluation is set to do is to force political decisions, decisions the owners of this country wish to avoid. It will force the lazy, lethargic man off his bed to his farm. Crude oil has failed. Instead of looking for a new rock to crawl under and hide, let Buhari restructure Nigeria now and put every part of this country to work.
But Tam David West just told him that restructuring 9ja means break-up. If an SS person who should know the injustice of this current centralised system says that publicly, can you imagine what other influential people from other regions will be telling Buhari in private?

Even if we produce 8m barrels a day at $70 and the politicians use the money judiciously, 9ja will still be a country of poor people for a long time. Let alone under 4m b/d at $40 that is even embezzled.

Recurrent expenditure at all tiers of govt is way too much. Don't even get me started on ghost workers.

A restructured regional system with regional Premiers/Prime ministers will abolish all the legions of governors, commissioners, SSAs, SAs, department heads, agency heads, etc. Regional parliament instead of lots of State Assemblies.

Cities/LGs will get mayors/LG chairmen/women to administer municipal councils and districts, with councillors at ward level.

We can save much money that will go into capital projects, research, education/training, health, etc

What's this fixation with low exchange rates? Is it so that you can buy iPhone for N10000?

Until importation is discouraged by devaluation, no fixed rate of dollar will stand over time...

Nigeria doesn't have an economy yet, if we don't deliberately fast now, we shall be forced to fast later by reality.

Now miss smartypants what is your solution cos your response didn't even suggest one
Reason is inflation for the common man. We import too many things and makes even things we don't import expensive. Market sellers have to hike price of garri to make more profit, in order to afford increased prices of telephone, TV, even imported fuel, fan, etc.

Sound financial/economic policies can help create more jobs and wealth. A buoyant economy naturally strengthens the currency. Or at least stabilises it because the markets and investors will have confidence in continued growth.

Nigerians are not asking to make 1 dollar = 1 Naira, it was an unnecessary APC campaign promise.

Most Nigerians being economically illiterate actually believed it. When it should be obvious that we have no economic base or much reliance on our oil by the West, to support it like we did in the distant past.
Romance › Re: When A Girl Says She Does Not Have A Boyfriend by AreaFada2: 12:23am On Jun 28, 2016
There is almost no 9ja girl without a bf.

The guy might be married, not seen as serious, just on-off bf, bf not loaded, lives faraway, she's a player, needs money from men, she's into you, etc. Many reasons to lie.

If a girl tells you she has a bf, she's not into you or she doesn't think you have what she wants etc.

A girls who tells you she has a bf might be one of the few that hasn't. She just wants you to leave her alone. grin cheesy

Family › Re: Sending Money To Parents Back Home by AreaFada2: 12:12am On Jun 28, 2016
yagganess:
my wife's father is late and mother is alive. Both my parents are still alive.

we want to work out how much money to send to the parents each month and the problem is she wants to send the same amount both ways. My issue with that is if we send the same amount both ways then one side will need to split the amount between 2 people, yet the other side is one person.

I feel that to make it fair we need to to send by person rather than the side of family. This way each parent gets the same amount of money

what are your thoughts
Send per circumstance.

Surely, one side maybe more well off than the other.

The living couple might both be getting pension payments and the widow might be collecting rent from several houses for example.

One side might need it badly and the other side not really.

To make your wife happy if both family sides have roughly equal economic status, send per head.

As a man, as much as honesty is good, send extra to your parents at intervals. Your wife does not have to know. Since her knowing has created a disagreement over how much to send to whom now. A man needs such discretion sometimes.

I'm pretty sure if your wife had both parents alive, she won't make such a suggestion. Don't be surprised if she already sends money to her mum without you knowing. From my observation, most women do so.

Not trying to criticise your wife but just to let you know how most "darling wives" operate. grin cheesy

Well I don't think pmb woulda been unwise enough to have dismantled all of Jonathan's legacies because of the change gospel. Government is a continuum.

Bros abeg who be akhenatenhuh
Akhenaten was the Pharoah of Egypt who reigned from about 1353 to 1336, a period call late 18th Dynasty of Egyptian kingdom.

He was the husband of the famed beautiful Queen Nefertiti. His father was Pharaoh Amhenotep III and his son was the Boy King Pharaoh Tutankhamun. The boy king who died at age 18 and was buried with the very exquisite golden funerary mask. You can see a copy of the mask in British Museum, London.

He tried to introduce monotheism to Egypt by scrapping all other gods (or at least relegate/demote), replacing them with Ra or Aten which means the Sun god. It is represented by the sun disc at noon.

Baba, u n ur aides need to stop blaming Jonathan na. That line is becoming stale.
Jonathan is still in power: his weapons still being used, his roads, airports renovated, trains, new universities and almajiri schools still being used, even no new budget has been implemented in over a year. His mark in office is still haunting them.

Trying to smear him is not new. Akhenaten was seriously smeared by Pharaohs that came after his son Tutankhaten (later called the boy king Tutankhamun/Tutankhamen). But the truth always comes out later.

The things they/APC/Buhari messed with are those that have crashed woefully, caused unemployment and economic woes: economy, fuel supply, monetary policy, etc.

Directing his kinsman and fellow jihadist Shekarau to pipe low is being touted as successfully fighting Boko. SMH.

Ol' boy. The way 9ja is divided now, especially the youth, is frightening. It shows that failure to discuss our problems honestly, including the civil war, resources control, regional autonomy etc, remains a massive mistake.

A mistake that could massively shatter this fragile country already at war with itself.

It seems that for the benefit of a few complacent, condescending and greedy elites, the majority will suffer even more seriously. Terrible prospect.

Lol. Scotland is labour land. SNP is very recent. After some time out of office, every party eventually regain some of its core supporter, when fatigue with current govt sets in. Check 1997 election and the one after it.
That is the way European electorate behave right from time. They oscillate. grin

Quite possible. Boris Johnson who will be next prime minister will do everything possible to avoid another Scottish referendum.

He will do so by delaying actually Brexit. To make the term of current SNP govt in Scotland run out. He will hope that such a new referendum cannot be pushed through by a hopefully weakened SNP govt post election.

He will gamble that Labour Party will take some seats from SNP in Scottish parliamentary election.

The whole strategy of the English to keep Scotland in UK will start in earnest and it will cut across all parties.

Agreed sir but I ask if a 13 year old child commits a criminal offence govt will clap for the child and say well done continue. Such child will be put in a remand home because a little level of good reasoning and behaviour is expected of the child. That is the law.
Actually, a 13 year old can kill and not go to life in prison or face death penalty. The reason behind juvenile detention is not punishment. It is to provide help and time to evaluate how best to re-integrate the child back into society.

There's no denying that times have become really hard in Nigeria. Airlines are pulling out and investors confidence about Nigeria is diminishing by the day all thanks to the abysmal state of our economy. Times are excruciatingly hard! However, in spite of the current economic difficulties, I believe Nigeria can be great again if this administration can come up with pragmatic policies to tackle its economic woes. One approach this government should employ is the total diversification of its economy through government funded agricultural schemes; small and medium sized enterprises and large scale manufacturing industries et cetera. This is the time for Nigeria to get things right. If it can't do it now, it might never be able to it. God bless us, the suffering masses of Nigeria. God bless Nigeria.
This was has been the message in 9ja economics class rooms since the time of Hitler. grin

This is stale. However its obvious it was a consented thing so no blames.
A child of 13 cannot consent to sex. She has no capacity to do so legally. Grooming cannot be considered consent. Same reason you cannot vote or join the army at the age of 13. That is the law.

Many praising him genuinely had no idea how flawed the policy was.

Therefore, when your child is 18 years old, give him/her some money to buy stock/shares. That will help interest them in economy, finance, etc.
