Cuche: That is why contractors should exercise some caution when called upon to spend their mobilization fees on things other than the projects awarded to their firms
show me a link where the contractor claimed the money was spent on elections or keep quiet.
PoliticsRe: Contractors Disappear From 2 Billion Naira Road Project In Awka by asha80(m): 7:39am On Dec 12, 2013
biafranqueen: You want our people to get the contracts, but they need to take pride in the projects you execute. It irks me when I see Asian or Europeans getting the contract, but to be honest when you give it to a Nigerian company it always ,in my experience, ends up a waste of money and time. Maybe they need to pay attention to details I don't know why big projects are always looking unfinished huh
maybe that is why foreigners are preferred in contract awards.
PoliticsRe: Contractors Disappear From 2 Billion Naira Road Project In Awka by asha80(m): 7:28am On Dec 12, 2013
biafranqueen: your right about that I know one lady her husbands company received a multi million dollar contract to build something for the Government, she took her whole family for 2 months to the states, she was even telling me how they are really doing so well now, which I was not surprised because her husband was a Party Chairman two years ago, so at the rate she was spending money I asked her what's up she told me about the new contract. When I saw the finished project I spoke to her about it and we exchanged heated words. She called me an enemy of progress imagine that undecided
laughing at enemy of progress part....our mentality at times is warped.

PoliticsRe: Enugu State Gov Chime Present N93.2bn 2014 Appropriation Bill by asha80(m): 9:59am On Dec 11, 2013
IKEMBA NNEWI: Most times i just wished Chime had funds @ his disposal like Governors of Anambra and Imo, He has a vision, that's been stalled due to paucity of Funds. He knows what development is all about, if this man had access to the Kind of Funds Akpabio uses for Misplaced priorities, Enugu would be competing with cities like Phoenix(Arizona) by now.
master plan for nsukka urban should have been done by now.

hmm face that article you posted is an eye opener....i just hope abia gets a more competent government to manage its affairs.....are you telling me umuahia going industrial?....i only know of saclux paints....and when is that geometric plant going to start self??..
PoliticsRe: Is Ebonyi State More Viable Than Anambra And Abia?---IGR by asha80(m): 1:19pm On Dec 10, 2013
achi4u: you are right. Abia and Anambra state remain the power house when it comes to economic activities no matter what their igr figure says.
Ebonyi is still the poorest state in the east no matter what our igr says, so,no one is celebrating here.
One good thing about the state is their ability to make use of their already designed master plan ...making it to access the city with ease and pleasure.

Truth be told, Ebonyi is not a media state making it to appear as if nothing is happening there. We are happy that any where you want to go in the state you will go withouth any hindrance of any sort because the entire state is connected with good tarred roads.

Still we are still not there yet like other states but we have to be happy with the little we have achieved.
i have always believed because of the settlement pattern in the south east it is not wise to concetrate infrastructure development in one big city or the state capital.ThankGod ebonyi has learnt that with the building of roads and bridges all over to make the inner villages and towns accessible.

biafranqueen: I did not even see this quote you too have a feeling that this is a white elephant project so why the yabbing grin
i put it in quote because that is what people generally term this kind of projects...it has nothing to do with what i feel.
PoliticsRe: 5 Star Agulu Lake Resort/Convention Center Under-Construction In Awka (pictures) by asha80(m): 6:28pm On Dec 09, 2013
biafranqueen: That is all fine and dandy, but this should not be the top priority for Anambra State Asha. If you want to build a hotel so that business people can come here and do business that is making sense, but for tourism, which is a usually a family attraction, we still have safety issues that need to be resolved. When it comes to business a person can take all types of risk to embark on increasing profits. The main road to this hotel that would bring tourist is not even ready to carry them. Or is that part of the plan give them whiplash so they can use spa services.
how do you know if the road is not being constructed or already exists?if i am not mistaken too there are bridges linking this hotel to agulu lake that the present government is construction...there is no harm in developing all sectors that can genrate revenue at the same time.
PoliticsRe: 5 Star Agulu Lake Resort/Convention Center Under-Construction In Awka (pictures) by asha80(m): 6:24pm On Dec 09, 2013
the issue is that every state should maximize every potential that can bring in revenue to the state whether from industrialization, agriculture, mineral resources, commerce, tourism, entertainment and so on...we should not be one track minded...after a great percentage of kenya's revenue is from game reserves and national wild parks.
PoliticsRe: 5 Star Agulu Lake Resort/Convention Center Under-Construction In Awka (pictures) by asha80(m): 6:11pm On Dec 09, 2013
biafranqueen: What will the tourist do as far as attractions? Just visit caves?
for someone who has lived long in usa i find it funny you are asking this question...why do people visit rock of gilbralter....no be to see rock?why do people go to game reserve....no be to watch animals?

Did you care to read obi's reason for embarking in the project at all? Have you been to Agulu lake before?
I believe this project is not just about building a hotel. Its about making agulu lake a tourist destination. Left to me, i would say obi should extend developments like this to other tourist sites like ogbunike cave and owerre-ezukala cave.
ogbunike cave really needs something like this....however the problem is are private sector guys willing to undertake such?

phantom: oga you are smarter than this.please no fall your hand here.peter is one of our leaders in the south east.he is our son.we should be able to criticise constructively.now let me ask you in your heart of hearts, is this a project the state govt should be undertaking? Please be objective.arent there more important things? Honestly we igbos have learnt tribalism for others but we seem to have overtaken those who taught us.the oduah case readily comes to mind.
guy if for anything people hve been criticizing obi for doing 'simple things' instead of 'white elephant' projects like this.

PoliticsRe: The Spate Of Hausas In Owerri by asha80(m): 9:56am On Dec 09, 2013
Abagworo: I still don't think there's anything wrong with that. There's crisis in Plateau because of Nigerian politics of tribalism and. Religious intolerance promoted by PDP. They campaign with tribe and religion and in that process cause disunity. Today they are doing Owerri vs Orlu in Imo State even though they are all Igbos.

It is better to let whoever wins majority votes no matter his ethnic group or religion to rule.
funny you are now saying judging from what you used to say prior to 2011 elections in imo where you said that okigwe zone be allowed to finish its four years through ohakim after orlu zone was 'allowed' the same time for udenwa.https://www.nairaland.com/asha%202/posts

egbira man kwa?
PoliticsRe: The Spate Of Hausas In Owerri by asha80(m): 8:01am On Dec 09, 2013
Abagworo: Only Abia State has significant Hausa population in the East. Infact there are more Hausas in Umuchieze than the indigenes and we've never heard them complain but rather they tap into the increased business activities brought about by the high Hausa population.

Igbos should not in the process of naively falling for politics of tribalism forget that we are far more in other people's zone.
umuchieze in which local goverment?.......op please let us tap into whatever biz activities the hausa bring.....after al igbos are also much in other lands.

egift: So it has come to a time in Aligbo that hiding behind people, being a servant of a "big man", and being a stooge is Hailed as gallantry (like Obiano/Peter Obi). While being bold and courageous enough to be a man of yourself, serving the masses and resisting those that loot our common-wealth (like Ngige) is viewed with distaste?

Aligbo have lost it way. May "Chi Kere Uwa" save before it is too late.
i guess being bold in rigging 2003 election and courageous in establishing 250 million naira vip toilet?

PoliticsRe: The Ebonyi State You May Not Have Known by asha80(m): 6:52am On Dec 03, 2013
achi4u: ^^
You still didn't get me right Ngozi &co.First, instead of ibeto group going to the owners of the Nigercem cement company which is owned by the 5 S.eastern states he went and deal with 5 local chiefs comprising the 5 communities where the said company was situated.
And Elechi hate such gesture,he wanted the man come out clean and do his business.
Secondly, the area where you mentioned of some Ebonyians absconding from paying their hospital bills is very big lie...and remember it can happen to anywhere which means no tribe, ppl, village or community is indispensable.

Again, many of ur contributions here is like u are trying to turn this thread into Anambra vs Ebonyi which is not good IMO.

I leaved all my youthful years in Anambra and Nnewi as my base.Anambra to me is my second home in-respective of what I went through as an Ebonyi boy in d hands of my Anambra brothers. Although, the situation is fast fading away.
You may never know hw it feels to be looked down simply because you are from a certain state or community.

Elechi 's government is like two adage sword ...the state capital is struggling on their own while his focuses his developmental stride on inner communities, those inner roads plus so many bridges no be beans, but we in the capital still need our fresh air.lol

The most painful thing Elechi administration did to an to the entire Ebonyi youth was the disbandment of "Ebonyi angels football club " which needs some push to enter nigeria premier league.
The second one was the restriction of okada /motorcycles from plying the dual carriage roads as all the roads here are all double lane.
In fact, many of his decisions are too scary to the common man.
But all in all his trying.

Note :my comments on ibeto/Nnewi ppl is just a joke as someone has rightful said.
Afterall, amakam ife na Ozubulu bu onye nzuzu na Nnewi gringrin

*no be me tok am ohcheesy
if what you said about elechi extending infrastructure to all the villages and inner parts of ebonyi instead of concetrating only in the capital alone then it means he knows what development is all about...like i keep saying i do not believe in making a state capital or one big city in a state eldorado while just three km out of the state capital you would be hit by images of the 19th century....secondly i do not believe in government running football clubs.
