Even till today diamond bank and nollywood still exhibit tribalism towards the yorubas on a daily bases even though they have bases in lagos, ogun and other states. There is no going back to the topic because to brought the issue up. Even your ojukwu said "he would should have been the president" Now which person would want a tribal leader to be the president ? not to talk of Ojukwu the Biafran default president and warlord. Or the tribalism exhibited by Igbos on the edo and delta people is not enough. TILL TODAY EDO AND DELTA PEOPLE ARE GRATEFUL TO AWOLOWO. From western Ijaw, itsekiri, urhobo, bini etc you name it this groups loved awolowo. Now tell me a group in the east that loved Ojukwu or Nnamdi, since awolowo brought tribalism. The only people hating Awolowo are the Igbos born out of hate and jealousy Maybe you can explain this Before we knew it, Biafran troops were in Benin City and en-route to Lagos. The Republic of Benin was created and it subsequently became the shortest Republic that ever was. Before we knew it, all our Igbo friends and neighbors started saying “Kedu” to us. When you turn around to look at him in surprise, he would say, “Ah, unah, you never begin learn? Na wa. I’m sorry oh.” The big question was: Learn what? Do you mean Igbo is becoming the lingua-franca in “Benin Republic?” Biafran troops were in control and from all practical purposes, the people were being intimidated, etc. Basically, Benin Republic was functionally a colony of Biafra. http://www.republicreport.com/why-biafra-did-not-survive-written-by-alen-ighedosa/Maybe you can explain this[/quote]do not let physicsMED see this |

dayokanu: When I said per capita that means you cant compare figure for figure
If we have 40m Igbos and 15m outside Igboland and you have 2m Ogbomoso ppl with 1m outside that means we have more Ogbomoso ppl per capita outside.
Evidence. Go to any Northern City and see the number of recent Ogbomoso migrants. especially in places like Jos, Minna, Kano and Kaduna
Who would be in Jos and not know about Ogbomoso ppl, Also you know a lot of tem have blended with the local population.
A lot of prominent Northeners are actually Ogbomosho ppl. e.g Some of these NFA ppl either Sani Toro or Amos Adamu (Not sure) one of them is Ogbomoso claiming North.
While serving in the North I saw many of them who have changed names e.d An Abraham Sunday, Dorcas Emmanuel etc
Then also in Ghana, I think the current King was actually brought from outside Ogbomoso
http://www.imi.ox.ac.uk/pdfs/rasheed-olaniyi ok i understand.but if i may ask how come ogbomosho people are like that unlike other yoruba groups?i can testify to this because most yorubas i have met in the north say they came from ogbomosho also is segun odegbami from ogbomosho because i know he was born and brought up in jos. |

Politics › Re: Nigerian States And Revenue Generation by asha80(m): 6:58pm On Oct 10, 2011 |
wireless05: Fellow Nairalanders!!!
I am starting this thread for a discussion on how states can generate revenue internally without the need to always rely on monthly FGN allocations.
You will all agree with me that every state in Nigeria has the potential to generate its own revenue to help boost their local economies.
A few states we know have great advantages, the littoral states (oil producing) and Lagos which has been the commercial capital of Nigeria for a long time. Lagos survived during the Obasanjo-Tinubu rift.
It is my opinion that every Nigerian state has some one form of natural resource or the other or at least a potential for agricultural boom or even tapping into the intellect of the state.
Most states in Nigeria produce one cash/food crop or the other that can earn significant foreign exchange (e.g
Sugar: Kwara, Adamawa Cocoa: South West Rubber: Edo/Delta/Rivers and most of south south Oil Palm: South East/South South Grains: Most Northern States Cassava: Almost every state Cotton: North East Gum Arabic: North
Dairy products: Could be anywhere afterall the animals migrate southwards during the dry season in the north.
Fruits such as Mangoes, oranges experience perennial waste in Benue, what about fruit processing plants.
And lots more
We know of a lot of countries that do not have any natural resource but are amongst the top flight economies in the world.
What is the problem with our governors or states. Are they lazy or just do not care since they get billions every month.
What about investing in education, healthcare, technology, I mean the world is fast changing but we don't seem to want to take part in this great revolution. I am aware of certain challenges such as electricity, transport etc but it is still the duty of government to ensure them.
Honest opinions.
Regards all this you wrote hear will make sense when we stop turning federalism on its head. |

we are measuring popularity of states by factors such as
1. the amount of people migrating to the state 2. the amount of non-indigenes in the state 3. the level political integration of non-indigenes in those state 4. what the state is known for 5. the population of the state
