Chumani:Always? Hindsight is always 20/20. They are those who were advised against getting married but went ahead. And as the union still stands, the naysayers have never come to say/admit they were wrong. But had the union gone sour they would have said " I told you ". Sometimes, No decision is wrong or right it is the energy we put in to making a decision work that matters. Everyone can make accurate predictions with hindsight. |
Mrchippychappy:Colonial era? Weren't the USA themselves colonized? |
miniziter:In the early 2000s, Jayjay himself was an ambassador for LG electronics. I remember reading newspapers around 2003 and regularly seeing his pictures splashed on LG ads in the Guardian(Newspapers). |
jetz:The unique selling point of those brands(tecno/Infinix) is their prices. Now in achieving these low price points, they have to make certain decisions in there supply chain(components). using premium components like; Corning glass/Qualcomm SD/leica lens and others wouldn't allow them produce phones at Nigerian 'low end' prices. Unfortunately, providing devices for the Low budget range require compromises from both producers and consumers alike. These compromises are reducing though with what the likes of Xiaomi are doing. |
BiggerbossAmani:Really? Accidents are not peculiar to any geography/location or country. Just last week, A fatal accident involving a Tesla sedan occurred in the US and this sort of accident is no way rare in the US. A lot of accidents here in Nigeria are highly preventable but that does not mean this 'evil' is peculiar to Nigeria. This is really sad. |
Troublemaker007:I personally don't think this administration has performed, but criticisms should still be factual. Both Wale Tinubu and Niyi Adebayo are southerners. Taking a personality like Dangote for such a trip is, in my opinion, a No brainer. Dangote's clout would see him being at the beck and call of any President— as he was for President Jonathan, as he is now and as he would be to whoever the next president is — creating, at least for Impression sake, the outlook that the administration works with the private sector in driving growth/Development. Again I don't think the delegation for these sought of events have to me ethnically balanced. For one, if he chooses to promote ethnicity here at the expense of Merit, His performance/ legacy would definitely bear the cost. |
DollarAngel:The rest? I doubt that. Have you, for instance heard about brands like Huawei, Nubia, Xiaomi, Oneplus, Oppo or Meizu? I think these make some of the world's best price/performance devices. I don't allege that they are always all better than the 3 u mentioned, but I know that these brands make devices that are totally comparable in performance specifications with your great 3 . |
unknownsolja:You may disagree with him, fine. But the Idea that he should (as a way of getting back at politicians) not host their events if called upon is flawed. If You, for example, happen to be a business man/ vendor/entrepreneur would you commit to not selling to anyone you dislike or disagree with? I guess no. if you do so, it would be suicidal to your business and ultimately you. and the adversary would just move to the next business(your competitor) except where you are a monopoly. On the contrary,he(Alibaba) should be praised for hosting their events and yet not fail to call them out constructively, where necessary. |
Throwback:You really think they need to come down here to get the information you mentioned if they wanted them ? |
Hofbrauhaus:Perhaps with the Know your customer (KYC)and BVN initiatives, banks have virtually all they need to track transactions and the individuals behind transactions end to end. Imagine that this individual transferred this amount to another account or worse still withdrew it in cash. It leaves a trail either of the receiving account(s) or the individual himself. How? Say the individual/swindler has a BVN number and he decides never to operate the account with which he swindled this sum into, the BVN is a Unique number that leaves a trail on all transactions one is involved with across all banks/ financial institutions and Identity records in the country. so unless the banks aren't being forthright, The swindler would almost certainly be caught since he would at least be involved in an official financial transaction throughout his lifetime. |
Jarus:Wow! good to know. I had the impression you were all in (Full time) a Consultant. Nonetheless, to keep it all up juggling both is still a rare feat. Hats off to you Sir! |
Jarus:So sad. sorry about it. By the way, You're a salaried person ? Or you were? Aren't u the great Jarus– Human Resource Consultant Extraordinaire? |
Ebuka2016: LordAdam16: Ebuka2016:You are both definitely correct about huawei's intentions. But isn't it somewhat odd to refer to devices that go for over US$200+ 'low end' devices ? I mean as people on this continent. Not for the others. |
LordAdam16:Huawei honor models – low end ? Other Global [US/Western Europe based] tech reviewers refer to them as low end but it always sounds funny to me. these things range from over 160-700$! It even funnier reading the same allusion — low end—on a Nigerian based Forum. |
STILESGANG:You are right. but he said 'A treble' not ' The treble' . Just semantics. |
STILESGANG:He probably meant "a" treble. They've already won the carabao Cup. If that isn't part of "the" treble, it could serve as part of "a" treble. |
flamingREED:That deed has since been published all over the internet including here on Nairaland. |
UncleSnr:Really? Then why are the "University" students taught by Lesson centre graduates? Or are CU lecturers all Foreign trained? or CU graduates themselves? You can raise up without putting down you know? Unless if you are just kidding. |
Sunnycliff:To be fair though, the story says, Yar'adua — not Obasanjo— chose his Running mate himself. |
amani63:Actually, he could. Now these calibre of individuals can leverage on their network of friends/associates in employing various financial arrangements including: Joint ventures, project Financing/Outright loans or even private equity financing to make investments well in excess of their net worth. There's always a limit to what one can do alone where the goal is time bound. |
Maleka1:Many ? that's a very huge stretch! How many do you know for instance? with the increase in the number of tertiary institutions available, it is hard to think of a PhD holder out of work — unless he/ she is not interested in lecturing. |
HAH:They could be charged at home. But what if one runs out of charge while on the road or on a long journey? That's where these stations come in handy. as the range per charge improves, home charging becomes more effective and the queue/ jostle for charge stations lessen. |
This figure is apparently insufficient but it would be helpful to see the absolute figures budgeted for education by Nigeria vis-à-vis these other countries to do a proper assessment as relative proportion may be misleading sometimes. |
millionboi2:Your picture may sound astute but it could not be more wrong logically. Even from an entrepreneur's stand point, if you want to cultivate a healthy business culture, it would be harmful to see the business' revenue as your "pay" and continuously take from it at will. Further more, for most healthy businesses, the entrepreneur puts himself on a pay scale and then if/when necessary, pays himself/other capital contributors a dividend. In this sense, the number of times he/she may take a pay from the business may still be almost the same — slightly more than — as an employee. In essence, it is almost certainly unhealthy for any long-term-thinking entrepreneur to take cash from his/her business just because he/she can. If you were to lend or provide equity to business where u you noticed the entrepreneur has unbridled/arbitrary access to the business' funds, would this influence you investment decision ? Entrepreneurship in and of itself is not a license to spend a business' money at will. |
ajstyles3:Pls what's the typical dress code expected ? would corporate and a tie cut it ? I.e without a jacket. Thanks. |
Youngzedd:Technically, if I increase the price by 70% and slash it by 50% that's a huge discount right there ! But I think i get the point. |
Hello, pls I have a new system (I bought last year) but the board soon developed a fault this year. My mistake however was resorting to a system s repair guy rather than the supplier/warranty (in Lagos),now the warranty is now void. I am really looking at repairing it since the system is still quite new. I know the motherboard is the most important part but I have not been able to fix it since repairers including in [lagos] say I'll pay 45k to 60k for a new board BUT without any guarantee after the installation. I.e. like a 50:50 gamble. pls do you assist with repairs also? note: This is a core i7 system with dedicated graphics card. |
timojerry:I had a similar challenge yesterday. However mine was that after getting an invite for the 2nd test, I tried accessing the portal very late but was denied access. As God may have it I replied them (From their invite mail) explaining my plight. As late as 12 in the morning /midnight I actually got a response which after hinting about my lateness in attending to their invite, graciously gave me a 2 mins window to access the portal. You should try reaching out to them even if yours is a bit different. |
nivlek:I'm still up - thanks for the concern. I've just checked and its still unresponsive saying 'the type form no longer exists '. I just hope there's a solution to this. |
I have just made a costly mistake. I really hope I find help here or elsewhere. I had received the invitation for the step 2 of the test with the instruction to select Location/Time. The problem now: Apparently I mistook the timeline as 12 :00 midnight today instead of the noon indicated I had actually considered Lagos/Port Harcourt since I'm somewhat in between (Edo) and just this morning settled for PHC. Some few minutes past 5:00pm today I tried accessing the portal only to realize my grave mistake. I have since sent a mail to push CV to be reconsidered . I would really appreciate any other suggestions from here as to how I could remedy this situation. Thanks in view. |
I am definitely not a professional in offering advice as to what direction one may pursue but you do strike me as a truly excellent fellow. I'll say these: Start making unsolicited applications to companies you admire and/or consider a fit for your background/skills. Most of these companies have career portals on their websites where you can create a profile and apply for available roles or even make unsolicited applications. Do you see yourself as a generalist or you ultimately want to be a subject matter expert? if you opt for the latter DO NOT ! chase any/every proposed IT skill out there because you'll end up being mediocre at it/them and maybe disinterested/dissatisfied pushing you to yet another skill continuing this focus-less circle. Find a passion project. This is a project/subject/field/topic within or outside the realm of your academic background (Maybe an IT skill, I know, I remember what I said above) of which you are committed to build expert-level capacity in irrespective of whether you have a job or not. Something you will always be proud of and own/nurture and grow whether life's rosy or tough. Essentially something you'll always be committed to "just like you where committed to your CGPA in school". You'll find that sooner than latter you'll be an expert at this thing besides what ever else you have going for you in life (usually work). As a side, you may consider teaching briefly in schools on consultancy basis (i.e. arrange with the principal/head to pay you less than he/she would normally want to in exchange for not tying you down through the day [8am-2pm], which frees you up for other engagements ) while waiting for a more preferable job. You may also go it alone as I once tried by setting up extramural lessons instead of the above teaching arrangement. Read a lot. You obviously know this, perhaps more than myself. As Dylan woon says it : "Read not just for pleasure/knowledge but to change your behaviour". you could join quora too. I've found it really enriching. That's all ,except ... I find your field really lucrative (most don't get this) but FMCGs, CPGs ,Chemicals and food/beverages industry is, in my opinion, one of the most lucrative and easy-to-enter industries to do business in (Read: Don't rule out starting a firm yourself too, not just for the sake of being your own boss but because, quite frankly, you could brilliantly execute it better than most). Congratulations on account of both your UD. result and in advance of your NYSC POP. I am certain you'll do just fine - even without all the advice on this page - if you keep being NOT complacent(You definitely know this too already). Regards. |
uyplus:Your call for churches to be taxed is understandable. However, for a country like ours now, if a foundation/Not-for-profit organisation (including churches) is impacting society in these ways, saying they should be taxed more just to "get at their leaders" only to give the taxed sums to our perennially underperforming governments would be a big minus to society. You may well be saying " just to get at these men of God" you don't care if the society is the worse for it. and that, my friend, would be really sad to think of. |
