Congratulations to them

Still I think citn sudnt av been, just like institute of forensic accountants are fighting for independent recognition from ICAN.

They all sud b under one body of ICAN.
Now the professional is just being proliferated
Not necessarily I think.

You see all these Professional bodies are founded/led by individuals like you and me and believe it or not the ideals/whims of their leadership (good or bad) rubs off on the Institution.

EVERY professional institution is an idea of someone somewhere and they usually have their agenda(which usually starts out good) but often soon turns selfish and overbearing.

There's an innate tendency among most humans to act in an overbearing manner when they wield Monopolistic authority.

If only one professional institution exists in a field you shouldn't expect much growth and innovation and moreso they could very easily bill their membership recklessly and with little accountabilty.

Competition is good as it allows the private sector (those whom these Institutions profess to serve) to pick the winners.

You realize he only owns about 28% of the total shares right now. He can sell his Class A shares but never his Class B shares except he wants a hostile takeover.

No one would want to invest in an uncertain and underperforming company anyway.
"No one would want to invest in an uncertain and underperforming company anyway" Really? Is their any certain company that you know of ? there are few certainties in these things AND people Invest in Underperforming companies! Just Not every Investor.

Infact there are investors that specialize in Underperforming companies (where they see an underlying value unrealized) . When they invest, they done do Class A/B— They take control. that's why I said if Facebook goes into financial difficulties and bankruptcy is not an option for him.
This has happened severally, RIM (blackberry) is a fine example.

It's a "Who needs who most "game. That's why control share class system was created. At the root of it, it benefits only the founder.

What if you continue mising, ride bicycle use Nokia Torch light and save all your salary. Then pay off all the money you took from the capital market?
It's possible, But you'll need a lot of money to pull this off, I doubt any single founder can buy out all other capital investors from his company since you'll have to buy their shares at a premium(i.e at least more than the share price the day it is announced you want to buy them out).
Dell's Michael Dell recently did it, but even he could not do it alone. A private equity company partnered with him to buy it back.
The best thing is to never seek outside(capital markets funding) if you can't stand a challenge to your control over the business. There are many large really successful companies that have never been owned by outside investors (and are 100 % owned by the founder/founder's family) like Leibherr, JCB, Mars,Clifbar etc.

There are different classes of shares, and each class has a distinct voting capacity. For instance the Facebook shares are categorized into Class A and Class B shares, the Class B shares though constituting only about 18% of the total share, each of those shares has 10 votes per share while the Class A shares has 1 vote per share. Majority of the Class B shares is owned by Mark thus giving him a voting right of over 50%, so when it comes to corporate policies, he remains the sole determiner of what will happen.

Like I said earlier, he can only be convinced to give in but there can never be any hostile take over of Facebook from him.
Right. but there are only certain kinds of companies that can afford to do this — usually High performing/Strong Moat/tech companies — Even Facebook, If the company starts to suffer financial challenges and starts to have increased need for capital due to this, he would have no choice but to cede some control.
Generally, the capital game is a "Who needs who most" game.

Why will a company allow a total stranger to have upto 30% shares on his sweat?

if na me maximum you can have is 15-20%

make someone no come tomorrow start dragging my company with me
Hahaha! which sweat? which his company? Here's how it goes;
If you start up a company, it's all yours BUT as soon as you start to require more capital and you reach out to the capital markets, to sell part ownership/ control of the firm it stops being ALL yours.
Now you have to factor in the consent of other investors and play by capital markets rules since you took their funds.

If you want to have ultimate control over your firm as a business person, don't go to the capital markets for funds(stay Private) Or
Keep control while selling shares to them (hard to do). Founders/CEOs of public companies don't fully own their companies.

Yeah, but not just Law. Most professions undergo booms and busts based primarily on demand and supply.
Some professions tend to feel very special in their boom times instead of realizing that these things are based —generally— on D & S and can be cyclical.
I feel it'll be worse though, if the demand for labour outstrips supply in this case. Neither situations is desirable but I think this is preferable.

To me I believe the greatest form of employability is self employment. As a owner and MD involved in day to day activities of a business I would rate such a person and an employee and a owner. It shows another level of belief.
Not necessarily. Employability is quite different from Self employment I suggest you check the meaning.

A lot of people are self employed Because they are not employable but there are those who leave decent jobs to seek self employment— These are the types I believe, you meant.

Technically, as an unemployed Nigerian graduate, If I take to opening a betshop on the road side, do I classify as a 'self employed individual'? — and as such does it make me employable? since I am 'entrepreneurial'. I think not all self employed individuals are employable (as graduates) that's why they(self employed) should be excluded from this survey.

CU student can generally afford to stand alone not because of one useless connection or one imaginary wealth somewhere if that is your target.
As a engineering graduate, I did entrepreneurship course for 9 out of 10 semesters. Any graduate who has the slightest of talent or sellable skill after a degree will easily put 2 plus 2 and stand one his or her own.
I also took other business inclined courses. There was a theological course where we were made to study successful business thinkers and their breakthrough pattern or ideas.
Couple that with even a below average understanding of the dynamics of wealth creation from the bible and you have good understanding of why you can afford to stand alone and what you must do to stay afloat.

That talk of knowing why PU grads stand alone would be totally misplaced if you mean they stand alone because of one connection or wealth.
I never said anything about standing alone pls re-read my comment. I replied a faulty sweeping generalization by the HR practitioner.

And by the way I personally don't see the point in extolling CU's 'entrepreneurship education courses' on a thread on 'Employability'.

And be sure I know CU is a good/great Institution— without any need for faulty generalizations.

cheers.

That's not what I replied the individual I quoted about. I simply asked if the PU graduates he asked to wake up were/are not Lecturers at CU.

And I would not be surprised at your 'generic' response .
I would however be surprise if you said 80% of CU lecturers are CU graduates currently, not in the Future.

My response to that 'HR practictioner' was not about CU's quality. I am not in doubt about that. My response was that... well you can re-read it.

The Survey is apt....i am into HR and i can tell you CU graduates are always on point. Uniben graduates...we are trying too but mehn....You cant take it away from CU students...this is not about connection, at least not on this...i am very sure, its what i do daily. Public school graduates needs to wake up abeg.

And we need to wake up and stop this mentality of seeing private school graduates getting jobs by connection, it is not entirely true. How many graduates from public schools will opt for free internship just to acquire a skill? but you see private uni students doing it and by the time they beat you to the job...you all will start shouting 'connection'.....its a shame
Covenant University graduates are good, perharps great, I don't debate that. But don't overstretch it by saying "CU graduates are always on point". That's definitely not true. No University (certainly not CU) could has all its graduates "always on point".

CU's greatness would speak for itself as time goes on,The need to always polish the place as "Heaven on Earth" by "All words possible" may do it more harm than good.

You ask why Private University graduates can afford to opt for unpaid Internships and public school graduates generally don't? I am quite sure you know the answer to that question yourself.

You ask PU students to wake up but aren't CU students taught by 'Public University graduates'? or did they employ all their lecturers from abroad or are they CU graduates?

Some issues are more complex than you realize.

Cheers.
