For your info, the Land Use Act vests all state land in the Governor and housing is not on the exclusive list. There no basis whatsoever for ur assumptions. Federalism means the states also exercise control over things that are not in the exclusive list. Buhari cant compel any state governor to cooperate, even in apc states!

You are making a mistake. Federalism allows for separation of Powers but doesn`t prevent the President from initiating a housing policy for the federation. Education is not on exclusive list either, is it? A Federal Housing Policy imposes an obligation on the states which can not be ignored without a reason.

Bro, in a federal system of government, the federal government policies are superior to that of any state. What the states can do is to make adjustments to that housing policy based on their local peculiarities. We shouldn`t be making simple things difficult because of party allegiance. Buhari was elected to govern Nigeria not APC states only.

I think the owners of NL should consider closing the comment section of the forum because people have turned it to a platform for silly and unguarded comments. Its true that we must air our views on topical issues, but the abuse of freedom of speech has become so proliferated such that some people only subscribe to the platform only to abuse and rain insults on people who hold contrary opinions from theirs. If it's not APC vs PDP, it'll be Buhari vs Jonathan, Wike vs Amechi, Lai Mohammed vs Information etc. It's annoying how almost every Tom, Dick and Harry have turned this forum to a beehive of abuse and insults. That economy was destroyed over 16 years partly because of the addiction of Obasanjo and Jonathan to blind privatization, right? What people want is for Buhari to be philosophically consistent. Two things here,
1. If this legislator felt his human rights have been abused, he would have gone to the courts. But since last week, nothing of such has been done, which shows there's more that meets the eye.

So the party that controls the centre giving opposition party that controls a state government horrors is the norm in Nigeria rather than the exception. A true leader and democrat would want to move away from that. What happens to change mantra?

The railway system worked too, and one of the most prestigious jobs was to be a railway staff. That same Nigerian Railway Corporation that is now a parody of its former self, used to link up the entire country and it helped to build cities and villages, as the various major train stations became commercial centres...
Once upon a time in this same country, those who sent their children abroad did so majorly out of choice, not necessity, because Nigerian schools were among the best in the continent and the world. Teachers from different parts of the world, the best and the brightest, sought employment in Nigerian schools...
In this same country, we used to have industrial estate. In Lagos, Apapa, Ikeja and Isolo were Industrial estates. In Kaduna, Jos and Enugu, manufacturing companies created jobs and weath. We had uncles and aunties who used to do shifts in many factories and this country produced things: from refrigerators to bulbs to vehicles to metals to books, to textiles to shoes. Sad: many of those factories have become churches!
In the larger society, the present regime of no water, no fuel, no electricity was unheard of.... there was in fact at a time, the Nigerian standard, and this was the standard that other Africans look up to. This same country dominated the continent, morally,intellectually and culturally. Financially too: so rich was Nigeria that a former Head of State reportedly boasted that our problem was not money but how to spend it"
