A singaporean based in Dubai said he was surfing for a Nigerian website because he wanted to know more about Nigeria, since he intends coming to Nigeria and probably setting up some Eateries with his Nigerian friends.Lo and behold,he said he is a guest on Nairaland and often times,he logs in to the investment and politics section. So we got discussing and he asked me what part of Nigeria am i from,I said South-East and he quickly said;you are an Igbo man and i answered in the affirmative. He said that he was almost meant to believe that Igbos are 80-85% total population of Nigeria.Since almost all Nigerians he has come across in his many travels around the world are Igbos.Infact that every other day he logs in to politics section on Nairaland, its always two or more thread on Igbos. But that on wikipedia,Igbos population is put only about 25% of the entire Nigerian population. Then,he questioned;how was it possible that the Igbo ethnic group could make up for almost all the business men, professionals, entertainers and sports men and women of Nigerian descent he has come across. In his words,He said 'Igbos must be a phenomenon and an enigma, what a great people'. At that point some other people came to join us at our table,we started discussing other things. I learnt one thing from the encounter, that the more people discuss about the Igbos, the more popular we are and it becomes our selling point. 'Our detractors are our helpers',forward ever and backward never,we must as a people remain focus and make use of our cultural advantage of hardwork over others. God bless us. |
I do not support this idea at all,it will turn out to be another conduit pipe used for syphoning funds. The other day this present regime lifted ban on imported textiles and hence the custom were made to free textiles worth billions of Naira seized in Kano. This government has failed to get its policy direction right and applying sentiment in economic decision making, has always proven to be detrimental. Moreover, the textile industries are only part of the many industries that folded up in Nigeria and are begging to be revived, there shld be a concerted effort to bail out the comatose industries with potentials to sustainability. I personally wld suggest that those industries with government stake, must be fully privatise before any form of bailout, our money is safer in private hands, just like what happened with the banks. So that we will know who to hold responsible when recovering the loan.Government has no busy running industries, lets give incentives to private investors, including tax holidays and some form of bailout,so as to encourage them to come in and run these industries and then our youths will find sustainable employment. |
StOla:I know you dont even mean what you ve just said, you got me laughing when i read the part you said 'PMB is about the most informed president we have......' please you guys shld stop making Nigeria look silly. PMB and being 'informed' are two strange bed fellows. Btw the new GMD of NNPC is very qualified for his new office,we shld all give him a chance to turn things around. |
bolaino:The real wailing wailers!Barcanista is never in the same class with you lots. You started your thread by patronising Barcanista and then you tried using intimidation, just to lure him to support a government that is almost certain to fail, that is if they continue with their regime of marginalizatn, oppression, archaic and unpracticable economic policies. They MODs knows better than you do,the true friends of this government, are they critics. In higher climes, those who offer constructive criticism like Barcanista, are so much respected, they make the government responsive to their duties and stand on their toes. Most failed governments are as a result of sycophants like you. Take care of your emotions and sentiment and Nigeria will be better for it. |
ThankGod the niger-deltans has woken up to realities, enough of this marginalization and allowing some parasites feeding on other peoples sweat and resources. Thanks to social media,a lot of institutionalized deception are going to be up-turned soonest....lets know who owns what and those that cunningly depends on other peoples effort. |
AshiwajuFoward:Not to worry, until Biafra comes to be,for now we must get everything that is due to us,it is never a privilege but a right. Come to think of it, GMD of NNPC and minister of Petroleum should be the birth right of Igbos and south-southerners,this is where oil(Oyel)is generated from....go and hug the transformer. olodo! Yorubas shld be given ministry of information, they talk too much and they are good at media propaganda. |
....and Tinubu and his cohorts feel comfortable about it! I hope they the south westerners knows that their leaders has drawn the battle line. Like an old wise man said 'revenge is meal best served when its cold'! |
ThankGod no one was killed and i hope the STF will respond in this manner when Fulani gunmen attacks innocent villagers....no excuses! |
I dont know why i keep having this feelings that Anambra state and the entire Eastern region is about bursting with economic development that will shock the draconian regime in Abuja to its nerves. I kinda feel ashame when i hear how state governors rush to Abuja for monthly allocations and then go back home to share it like a manner from heaven. Nigeria is desperately in need of true federalism or call it fiscal federalism but so sad that the man PMB lacks the political will to do such...my heart weeps for this country, agents of retrogression will always have their ways. Their spin doctors, janitors and propagandist from southwest will soon rush to this thread to bring their revisionist opinion. |
doctokwus:I beg to disagree,as much as i may nt ve been a proponent of secession but we must also accept the fact that 'the denial of our right, its an invitation to fight for it'.....like it is said,'those who make peaceful change impossible, makes violent change inevitable'. You will be the best judge about what this moment as an igbo guy means to you (if at all you are) for me,the rest is silence. |
'when victims go against victims, they are called victims of darkness',-anonymous! |
Smh! |
soe:young man i do appreciate your present civility but your attitude towards politics, betrays you as a weak personality. More often than not, your emotions beclouds your sense of reasoning. Life goes on my brother. |
soe:Remove the plank in your eyes before removing the speck in another mans eyes. Are you not the same petty thief who was involved in identity theft, claiming you and your household are DSS officials. They Mods are definately not doing their job,you shld ve been banned by now. However am not surprise at you, because your mentor Tinubu is a serial certificate forger and corruption personified. You all where praising Saraki until he went against your benefactors wish. No informed mind takes APC serious these days. Its leadership is a big joke. |
zinzane:you cant be serious. |
We are waiting for a further update on our female team,i thought the game shld ve been over by now.....have they qualified? |
They realised that Tinubu is still the defacto governor of Lagos, hence foriegn emissaries to Lagos prefers hearing from the horses(Tinubus)mouth. .....Ambode,Ambode,Ambode where are thou? |
'ponzi scam'! |
'Gulliver Travels'!....our paparazi president should better hit the ground running, our economy is going down the drain. We dont need endorsment from any country,he has wasted so much of our scarce resources junketing the world. He is finding it difficult to drop the fulani nomadic life style inspite of being the president of federal republic Najriya! |
splashbaby:I know that you dont even believe what you have written, even reknowned natural tribalist like Oba Akiolu and other Yoruba tribal e-rats,will be shaking their heads in disbelief, when they read what you ve written. You know as well as i do that Igbos have taken over your universities, businesses and job opportunities or how do you explain the constant protest or your regional infantile rantings 'leave our Lagos','omo igbo is buying up our lands','omo ibo ole, oloche, they are taking all the wealth in our land',...or the unusual high cut-off marks for Eastern state candidates who intends to attend unity schools in Nigeria. The indices speaks for itself, anyway i will take you for a clown and your usual uncultured tirade is only good for comic relief. Have a nice day! |
Isnt it amazing how other Nigerians are happy that their benefactor Buhari is living upto his ratings as a semi-illiterate, unrepentant extremist and egocentric tribalist, who has nothing to offer as a 21st century president. The truth is that Nigeria as a nation is cursed and can never get it right, the forces of retrogression always win over those who cld make positive changes in Nigeria. Informed Nigerians of other ethnic background knew quite well that PMB has nothing to offer but they wld rather continue in perpetual servitude than stand against the uncultured ferocity of the Hausa-Fulanis,who as a tribe has never contributed anything positive to the development of Nigeria but rather pulling the country backwards by their cultural and extremist form of religious belief. In the best selling Novel of Prof.Chinua Achebe,THERE WAS A COUNTRY,he said and i quote 'that nothing unifies Nigerians of other ethnic groups than their common resentment for the Igbos'. I challenge any sound mind to disprove this. If igbos leave Nigeria, all others wld want out, because they only reason why they they unite as a nation,is their common dislike for Igbos. This explains why they have vowed not to allow Biafra see the light of the day,the name Biafra scares shit out of the powers that be. Inspite of the evil conspiracy against Igbos, the fare better than others in the contraption called Nigeria. Chinua Achebe put it succinctly 'Igbos have a cultural advantage over others',this is why inspite of all, they strive to the consternation of others and this brings about envy and disaffection. Igbos who are mainly christians shld nt worry, for the bible says 'I shall turn the craftiness of the crafty into foolishness'. A time and a season shall come when they conspirators will go against theirselves and everyone will run to you for help, what happened in the national assembly is a 'tip of the iceberg'. We shld more than ever before have more conviction in our quest to secede,no matter how long it takes!God bless our effort. |
Living up to his rating as an auditor par excellence. Having acquired a PHD in auditing and having worked at the highest level in the organized private sector and distingushed himself as an excellent banker, one can simply put it that, he is a 'square peg in a square hole'. While his mates elsewhere are busy struggling with workers salary arrears, the man Obiano is busy increasing the living standard of Anambarians. Anambra adigo nma! |
fyneguy:Atleast he just did!and not to forget that AIT is privately owned,he sweats for his money and then pays his staff but unlike APC governors,Aregbesola,Adams Oshiomole, Rochas etc, they collect allocation from federal govt and yet they refuse to pay workers, what an irony! |
carinmom:As much as i agree with you that Saka Suka is like any other gangs found in major cities across the country but the clear difference is that the southern part handles them like criminals which they are. Most often than not, once they are caught in the act, they take the bullets or imprisoned after due judicial process. You wld also agree with me that the north is so fragile,as soon as the so called Saka Suka member is gunned down or lynched, probably robbing a christian or a southerner,a religious angle will be added to it and a religious riots is triggered, christians are killed, their properties looted or burnt. I still want to give it to El-Rufia,his actions since he became a governor in the North, has marked him out as a product of sound education,i hope to see more of the El-Rufias,Ribudus,Shehu Sanis,Sen. Pwajoks etc take over Northern States. |
I will apologise abi natio before i say my mind,Osun is a big joke, the governor is a national clown only good for comic relief,it is my honest submission.....for how long will the governor keep making jest of the suffering citizens of 'state of Osun'! |
iamboody:what happens to federal character principle, you are simply pathetic. You think the north wld support such if they were they victims. They wld have instigated sectarian riots all over the North. You are a bad student of Nigerian history. I give you an olodo award. |
AustineE1:7:52am Some times i wish Nigerian version of Islam would be as liberal and understanding as their peers elsewhere. We had bomb blast in Cameroun,Chad and Niger, the muslims in those countries rised to the occassion and demanded a ban on face veil in other to curtail the act of hiding bombs with veils by muslim women but this can never happen in Nigeria, where religion has been politicised and our muslims seems to be more islamic than the Arabs. This is why Nigeria is a fertile ground for Islamic extremism. I stand with Tunisia on death sentence for Terrorists and i hope our 'partisan' politicians will adapt same. |

Most of the successes recorded in the battle field by the past government was through our airforce, but ever since this present government came in, not even a single successful bombardment has been recorded by the air force. Why do I have this feelings that PMB has surrounded himself with incompetent people.I guess he was never prepared for the task ahead. |
I cant believe it that this important piece didnt make front page. I give up on nairaland mods....what a shame! you cannot deprieve Nigerians from the truth, simply because you think PMBs interest must be protected. |
